Upon returning Chi reveals to the team that he indeed is the person who contacted Prof. Denver with the username Curious CAT and had been tracking their developments ever since. He also reveals Bollinger is not who he claims to be but rather a hired mercenary. As evidence he points out that US military personnel don't have tattoos on their bodies which he noticed while disposing off the corpses of Bollinger's men. Nor do they use barbaric methods for killing, no matter the enemy. Bollinger reveals his true identity as a hired mercenary and his plan to acquire vials of the black ooze due to its unique properties and destroy the facility, which will erase all the existing evidences of the human atrocities committed at the behest of his employer. His employer has been trying to locate the location of the facility but without Richard's journal it was impossible, hence his sudden interest in offering to help him. As a chaotic fight ensues among the parties amidst which the lizard creature, the mothlike creature and a few ape men storm the facility drawn to the ooze. Bollinger quickly discharges some explosives which he had been planting around the facility resulting in its collapse while Denver urges Richard to forget about rescuing his father. Chi hands over the pendant to Denver and urges him to protect it at all costs, Denver recognizes the woman in the picture – the same woman who was mutated into the moth like creature.
