A Future Detour
AN: I decided to rewrite the S.P.D. episode History, but it's focused on Mike and Tracy instead of the main three rangers.
Tracy's POV
I'm a mixture of happy and sad since today is the last day of school for the Seniors. I'm so glad not to have to wake up before the sun even rises, but I'm sad since Ashley and I made a bucket of things we planned on doing before we both went to college. Now that I moved, we don't get a chance to do anything on the list. I changed into a turquoise floral print sleeveless ruffled blouse, a jean jacket, cropped blue jeans and a matching pair of high-top Converse. I put on a little makeup, and I also put on the graduation bracelet that Madge gave me. I went to the guest room to ask Aunt Sara to help me put my hair in a half-up braid; she, Uncle Adelio, and the twins spent the night; when I arrived, I saw the door was ajar.
"Hey, Aunt Sara, I'm having a hair emergency. Can you help me out?" I joked as I knocked on the door.
"Yes, sweetheart; of course, I'll help you; that's why I decided to study cosmetology in college," Anut Sara says.
"Thanks, Aunt Sara. That video I found online made putting my hair in an up-braid look so easy, but it's not," I say.
Aunt Sara snickers when she walks up and opens the door, then sees my hair is a lob-sided part, and the braid I attempted to make is one big knot. She motions for me to come in, and I walk over to the vanity and sit down.
" So, Mike's Aunt is making your prom dress?" Aunt Sara asks as she works on untieing the "braid."
"Yes, she is going to use the last design Aunt Mary and I worked on before I moved," I reply.
"You and Mike are so perfect for one another," Aunt Sara says as she brushes the knots out of my hair.
"I know," I smile.
"Mom, can you do my hair next?" Madge asks as I watch her sprint in.
"Of course, sweetheart," Aunt Sara replies as she finishes brushing my hair and redoing the part.
"Mommy, when will Daddy let me have a boyfriend like Tracy?" Madge asks.
"You'll have to wait till you graduate college," I joke.
"Mommy, will Daddy make me wait that long?" Madge asks.
"No, sweetheart, your cousin was joking," Aunt Sara says, putting the hair tie on the end of the braid and putting on some hairspray to keep all my hair in place for the day.
After Aunt Sara does Madge's hair, we head downstairs. I hear the doorbell ring. Madge jumps down from the third step and sprints to the door. I mimic my cousin and instantly regret when my right ankle rolls when I land.
"Madge, don't do that. It is dangerous. You don't know who's at the door." I say, wincing in pain as I pick her up.
"Good morning, Miss Burlew, you can relax. I'm not evil anyone, remember," Principal Randall says.
"What are you doing here? Is Tracy in trouble?" Madge asks.
"Your cousin isn't in trouble," Principal Randall says.
"What's going on? School principals don't make house calls," I say, putting my cousin down since she isn't in danger.
"The internet went down last night, so I couldn't email all the senior class to remind them that they are allowed to bring a school-age younger sibling or family member to school today," Principal Randall says.
"Why can Tracy do that?" Madge asks.
"It's a special tradition at Reefside High for the Senior class called 'Be A Highschooler for A Day,'" Principal Randall says.
"So this tradition is a way for the younger siblings/ cousins/nieces/ nephews to make one more core memory with their senior sibling/cousin/ aunt or uncle before they go away to college," I say, as I stumble and begin to fall to my right as the door swings more towards the wall when a dizzy spell hits me. There is a flash of light when I try to shake it off. I open my eyes to see an alien bat wearing a punch bowl on its head and what I think is an alien scientist standing before me. I quickly look to my right and see Mike standing next to me.
"Welcome to the future; now, you will help me destroy the planet," the bat says.
My right ankle reminds me that it was a bad idea to snap-kick the bat in the stomach when a sharp pain flows through my leg. Adrenaline flowed when I put my leg down since the pain suddenly vanished. Mike and I turned around, and I saw our dino gems behind us.
Okay, how can our dino gems be here; their power was drained yesterday. But these look the same way when we first found them.
Mike and I quickly pick them up and run out of the building.
Normal P.O.V.
At the S.P.D. base, the scanners pick up the energy reading from Tracy and Mike's Dino gems.
"This is strange. I'm picking up a very intense surge in the morphing grid." Kat says.
"I didn't deploy the rangers. They are still in the base," Cruger says.
"What's new, commander?" Sky says as he and the B squad walk in.
"Kat, try to narrow in on the energy reading," Cruger says.
"I'm on it," Kat says.
"What kind of energy reading did she find, sir?" Bridge asks.
"It's a ranger energy reading. It's coming from downtown," Kat says.
Back downtown, Tracy and Mike are getting chased by robots. They quickly walk down a flight of stairs and are trapped in a corner.
"Hey, angel, I know these weird things tap us, but how did you hurt your ankle?" Mike asks.
"Mikey, I'll tell you later. These things aren't t-drones, but if they were competing in a creepy awards show, they'd at least win second place," Tracy says.
"Do you think that our dino powers work?" Mike asks.
"They might, but I'm not sure how my super strength can help us," Tracy replies.
"You could kick down that sign or the lamp post to our left," Mike says.
"Mike, I know your dino power is super intelligence, but could you come up with an idea where I won't end up causing injury to another part of my body?" Tracy says.
"Not right this second," Mike says.
"Wait, Dr. O showed us how to use our dino gem powers to create an energy blast that deactivates the triploids; it might work on these things," Tracy says.
Tracy shows Mike how to do it, and the duo is amazed when the Krybots drop like flies. The duo is hit with a sudden laser blast and knocked to the ground. Mike quickly helps Tracy up.
"Okay, whoever you are, what do you want with us?" Mike asks.
"Your powers are legendary across the galaxy," the bat replies.
"Just because our powers are legendary, that doesn't mean we'll help you," Mike says.
"Yeah, you're probably suffering from oxygen starvation from having your head inside that punch power for so long," Tracy says.
"Yeah, we're the good guys," Mike says.
"Right, we'd never destroy our planet," Tracy says.
"Oh, I think with a little bit of persuasion, the two of you will change your mind very quickly," Broodwing says.
Everyone hears the sound of a siren blaring as the S.P.D. Rangers drive up. The duo watches them take down the other Krybots that Broodwing has with him. Broodwing flees the scene, cursing the B-Squad for getting in his way.
"Are you two okay?" Z asks.
"Other than being utterly confused, we're okay," Tracy says.
"Broodwing is bad news," Sky says.
"Yeah, but attacking innocent kids, that's just low," Bridge says.
"Kids, we're eighteen," Tracy retorts.
"So, you've battled that freak before?" Mike asks.
"Oh yeah, all in a day's work," Sky says.
"We're Power Rangers Space Patrol Delta," Bridge says, opening up his morpher to show his info.
"I thought we were the Power Rangers," Mike says as he and Tracy show the S.P.D. rangers their bracelets.
B Squad gives Tracy and Mike a grand tour of the Delta Base.
"So Mike and I got transported years into the future," Tracy says.
This is a state-of-the-art command center that trains elite fighters to be power rangers," Mike says.
"Yeah, but the downside in the future is that the planet is under attack by an army of aliens and giant robots," Tracy says.
"Yup, you two summed everything up nicely," Syd says.
"Conner will be happy to know that pretty girls are still around in the future," Tracy says.
The group walks into the command center, and Tracy and Mike are impressed when they look around the room.
"No offense to Dr. O, but our command center was a cave," Mike says.
"Correction, it was a cave in the basement of our science teacher's house," Tracy says.
After Mike helps Tracy to a chair so she can sit down, they are introduced to Doggie, Isinia and Kat.
"If the commander or the base is a dog, is the head of the medical team a cat?" Tracy jokes.
"Well, Tracy, the archives say that the pink ranger did have a great sense of humor," Kat says.
"What else does it say?" Mike asks.
"That your team faced off against some of the most treacherous villains in history," Isinia says.
"That would explain why Broodwing is after them," Z says.
"How did you two get here?" Sky asks.
"The last thing I remember was getting ready to leave to pick up Tracy for our breakfast date before our last day of school," Mike says.
"For me, all I can remember is going downstairs. My little cousin Madge heard the doorbell ring; she jumped down three steps and ran to the door. I made a huge error when I decided to mimic her actions and hurt my ankle when I landed, and Principal Randall told me about Be A High Schooler for a Day." Tracy says.
"At least, that explains how you hurt your ankle," Mike says.
"I'm sure that Broodwing went to a lot of expense to bring the two of you here," Cruger says.
"He isn't the one to give up easily either," Isinia adds.
"Bring it on, I can handle him or anyone else that gives us trouble," Mike says.
"Broodwing gives off henchman vibes. His boss could be even nastier. Plus, Mikey, we don't have our ranger powers anymore, and our civilian powers won't do us any favors in a straight-up fight," Tracy says.
"That may be true, but we can't just let Broodwing push us around," Mike says.
"Mikey, just let Sky and the others handle this. They have the training to handle this fight," Tracy says.
A few seconds later, an alarm goes off. Kat tells the group that the quarry is under attack.
"Brooding is trying to lure Mike out, isn't he?" Isinia says.
"Yes, but MIke, he is going to stay put. B-squad move out," Cruger says.
"Just because I'm not a ranger anymore doesn't mean I can't fight," Mike says.
The Rangers struggled with the Dragoul but could send it on the run. Emperor Gruumm is furious that Broodwing is going against his orders by sending the Dragoul to fight the Rangers and decides to launch a full-scale ground attack against the Rangers. The B-Squad soon finds themselves surrounded by an army of Krybots.
"I'm no rocket scientist, but I think they need some help," Tracy says.
"Commander Cruger, you must let me help," Mike says.
"No, Mike, I won't put your life in danger," Cruger says.
"If something did happen to you, the results could be catastrophic," Isinia adds.
"If your cadets lose, your concern for his safety would be mute, wouldn't it," Tracy says.
"I'm going to go help them, Mike. You are to stay here. That's an order," Cruger says.
Tracy and Mike watch on the screen as Cruger shows up as Shadow Ranger to help the other Rangers. Gruumm and Morgana have joined the party as well.
"Grumm is strong, but the mutated form of Mesogog has him beat in the creepy department," Tracy says.
"Tracy, I'm aware the humor is often used during a stressful situation to lighten the mood," Isinina says.
"But, this is serious," Kat says.
"I don't care what happens in the past or the future; the others need my help now," Mike says.
"If you're going to go out there, at least go prepared," Kat says.
"Okay, how can I do that exactly?" Mike says.
"Give me your dino gem," Kat says.
After Mike gives Kat his gem, the duo watches in awe as Kat pulls Mike's Morpher out of the archives and reactivates it. Kat hands Mike his morpher, and he puts it on his wrist, then runs out to help the others. Tracy grabs his arm as he runs past her, "Mike, please be careful,"
"I will, angel, I promise," Mike says, kissing her forehead.
Tracy lets go of Mike's arm so he can leave to help the others. When he arrives, Grumm has reduced the S.P.D rangers back to their civilian form.
"At last, no more power rangers," Grumm says.
"Think again, Jack Skellington's second cousin twice removed," Mike says.
"Mike, this is crazy. It would be best if you weren't here," Bridge says.
"Yeah, you don't know how much power Grumm has," Sky says.
"I brought a little power of my own," Mike says, holding up his morpher.
"How did you get your powers back?" Z asks.
"Kat is the coolest," Mike says.
"She used his dino gem to pull Mike's morpher out of the archives and regenerated it," Tracy says.
"Tracy, what are you doing here?" Mike says.
"Yeah, you shouldn't be here, you're hurt," Bridge adds.
"I'm here for two reasons. One- Mike and I are a team, and having two dino rangers on the field would be better than one. " Tracy says.
"What's the second reason?" Sky asks.
"That my sense of humor is the only thing I inherited from my mom's side of the family," Tracy says.
"Let me guess, stubbornness," Sky says.
"We call it determination," Tracy says.
"Commander, don't be mad at Kat for doing what she did," Mike says.
"I'm pretty sure you would have done the same thing, " Tracy adds.
"You two have a point. Now let's show Grumm what we can do together," Cruger says.
All eight Power Rangers morph into action, the Dino Rangers powering up to Super Dino Mode and the B-Squad powering up to S. W. A. T. mode. Mike teams up with Bridge against Krybots. Tracy teams up with Z and Syd to blast the Krybots and take on Morgana. Sky led an ambush backed by Cruger piloting the S.W.A.T. Command Truck and was able to blast Gruumm. Cruger sends the B-Squad to battle a giant Dragoul that showed up in the city while he and the Dino Rangers finish off the Krybots.
"Cruger, using rangers from the past may have won this battle, but my revenge has only begun," Grumm says.
Mike and Tracy combined their weapon attacks to blast Grumm. It was so powerful that he ran away—the S.P.D. Rangers return after defeating the Dragoul.
"Sky, Mike, Bridge, Z, Tracy and Syd, that was amazing teamwork," Cruger says.
Everyone is gathered in the command center again. Mike says he thinks that they should stay to help fight Grumm,"
"What about Broodwing? He is still out there, too," Tracy says.
"We appreciate your offer to stay, but that's impossible," Cruger says.
"Yeah, you two will miss prom if you stay," Syd asks.
"Not to mention your high school graduation," Sky adds.
"I'm excited about prom, but I can't figure out why graduation makes me anxious and scared," Tracy says.
"Yeah, graduation had me feeling the same way. Is there something wrong with us?" Mike asks.
"There is nothing wrong with either of you," Isainia says.
"Isinia is right. What you two feel is completely normal to fear about graduating high school. You two are about to enter the next phase of your lives. That's a big change," Kat adds.
"Mike, is your fear of going off to college by yourself the real reason you changed your major and college? So that way, at least, you had one thing that was the same, having me by your side," Tracy says.
"Yeah, I was terrified of living alone, so I decided the only way to make myself feel a little less freaked out and anxious was to change my major and college of choice so we'd be together. That was my best bet," Mike says.
"Mikey, you're really sweet, but I've said this before: your West Coast body won't be able to handle a day of a midwest fall, let alone when winter comes, so just stay put," Tracy smirks. "Plus, I'm supposed to snuggle up to you when I get cold, not the other way around."
"I won't have to. We'll share that sweatshirt your dad bought you," Mike says.
"Let me guess, your dad bought you a sweatshirt that was two sizes too big?" Syd asks.
"You got it; if I put the hood up, I can easily pass for a boy," Tracy says.
"Your lives as Rangers have made a difference, but you will go on to lead exciting and significant lives after you hang up your helmets," Cruger says.
"Are you two ready to go back?" Kat asks.
"Yes," Tracy and Mike say.
"Your courage and dedication will live on in Ranger Legend, and thank you to both of you," Cruger says.
"Goodbye, Dino Rangers. Your memory of us will be erased, but we won't forget you," Kat says.
"Thank you," Isinia says.
