the cultural change and where it's going
Culture is changing with internet becoming so huge in our lives. Globalization new to us as we get to experience the world right at home. We have more information than ever before. We're the generation most educated and yet we're the generation to read more and less than any other generation in history. The internet really is bringing change, good change, bad change. Which is understandable.
But why is this generation and cultural change so shit?
Let me explain my theory.
So, let's go back a century and to the start of Modernism. Modernism began as a reaction to World War One. Why? Because for the first time ever people that weren't fighting the war saw how gruesome it actually was because photography finally caught up enough. Thus the reaction flared up. Abstract paintings and new ideas in literature and philosophy arose. Many classics actually derive from that time. It was all new and against tradition. It lasted until the late 50s.
Now let's look in our post-modern society. New ideas are spreading, new abstract art, reaction to the internet, and most importantly going against tradition. Sounds good, yeah? I mean, it worked the last time so why wouldn't it work now? Because repeating the same revolution brings hypocrisy and slows progress. We're not thinking this time around. And that's the biggest problem.
You see, the new ideas we're being presented are not based on fact and do not go against tradition at all. They against what modernism has built. We're in a half-built house, taking hammers, and smashing the structure without even realizing that the house could collapse on us any second. We're ignorant and we're being taught not to think.
Why is this?
Well, because in the true light of going against tradition, America being capitalist is bad so socialism must be a better idea, right? I mean, that way we're not controlled by corporation, no we trust the government instead and that way everyone's equal...except for everyone at the top....Yeah, it's flawed. Extremely flawed when you think about the government regulating speech which why they truly want socialism. They want to stop hate speech by getting rid of words in the process. Which sounds extremely like Orwell's 1984 which warned exactly why socialism is a bad idea and because of this exact shit.
Let's look at another example so I can get to my point. Let's see...racism! Ah, yes, every white person is racist because they're white and their ancestors did slavery and segregation so they totally think the same way. I mean, it should be in their nature and not just a social construct that those fighting racism so much love to use the term. The problem here is that its an absolute and stupid because they're extremely hypocritical. It's racist to say all white people are racist.
Now what does the rise of socialism and rise of a movement against racism have in common with the early to mid 20th century where the modernist movement was at its highest point? Oh that's right, the Russian Revolution and both World Wars and plenty of racism to go around for everyone. Why is this important? Because the cultural revolution of today isn't so much a revolution but a regression. We're regressing back to the modernism without realizing why it happened and what it meant. It's just those are good days, those are what we know so it must be right. We're accepting it as a tradition which goes completely against the movement as a whole.
And it's hypocritical because that movement is all for new ideas and freedom to speak while today many many many people are stupidly and actively fighting against the side that oppose their opinion without reason. There's no debating now because of globalization because we can always feel justified with our opinion given that there's always going to be someone to agree with that. And we're actively encouraging it when we shouldn't.
This regression we're going through is especially bad because we're losing our voices. It's an angry mob where if you don't agree or say something they like they will likely name you all these things like racist or homophobic or ablest or whatever. Claiming you ignorant while ignorantly calling you this bullshit.
And it's insane because you'd expect with the progress made in recent years that these topics like racism and sexism and equality would be such a big deal and in reality they're not. We're no where near as racist as we once were. Sure, there is progress yet to be made, the final step yet to be taken but it won't happen suddenly. It's the long term affect and not the short term. You can't just expect someone who is raised on an idea to just stop believing it. It happens over time.
Yet it's truly those who are in college now, the supposed future of this society that are causing all this outrage. Why? Because they believe they have the answers when they don't. They shield everyone that isn't a straight white man, hypocritically, and scream and yell like babies. They're the reason we're regressing because they're regressing down to nothing but fucking babies that want to be catered. Spreading they're ideas like it's spit.
They want extremes, saying it's the right thing to do when it's not it's the same as making a white ethno state, it is impossible. And it's going to this extreme, never keeping an open mind, blindingly following, hoping for the future to be better than is completely traditional. They're pealing modernism like it's a band-aid. Temporary when in fact it's not. Their ideas are temporary.
Which is why this regression won't last much longer. People are starting to see their bullshit. People are starting the take a step forward. It's like sling shot, we have to stretch it back to sling it forward. We're starting to talk, starting to debate, starting to become what society should be. Equal in freedom of thought and speak. Only then will we find equality in everything else. But we have to start with the extremes.
Give it time.
