Day 49(pt.4): The Day Everyone Tries to Forget

Amidst the ever-increasing chaos spreading across the entire facility, the woman wearing a dark cloak with golden lines closed her hand and released a burst of slashes tearing the very air in front of her like thin paper. With such ease too that it would leave a witness with shivers, that is if they were still alive by then. Yet, despite the madness such a being would be to deal with, her foes casually endured the onslaught of attacks with relative ease, though not unharmed.

A group of many soldiers wearing a pitch black and orange suit and wearing a mask taking the shape of a rabbit were facing her without an ounce of fear, emptying magazine after magazine into her body. Those close enough switched into combat mode and rapidly slashed her with combat knives, none saying a single word nor uttering a single sound.

A complete department was fully sealed away from the rest of the workers inside, stopping anyone from entering and exiting while they took care of their "prey". Completely ignorant of the havoc spreading outside of their assigned area, the Rabbits fearlessly confronted the machine that seemed to come out of a terrible nightmare, leaving the employees to deal with their own issues.

...

...

The sight that I witnessing was far from beautiful. It was a scorched land of cacophony, none of the office workers attending to their duties and instead letting our screams of panic. No matter how hard I tried to reason with them, it was a lost cause, none would heed my words.

Faced with that truth, I gritted my teeth and turned to face the agents working under my guidance, the ones still able to keep their sanity. Well, I say that but BongBong was a grey zone at best when it came to that, she was a monster way past our level that showed no signs of fear, regret or hesitation in her actions.

Marisa: What should we do captain?

Standing next to us was the silent "threat" that should have been eliminated a long time ago, now simply following me like my shadow with relunctance. She couldn't do much in the first place considering that the moment she took a step out of line, her head would separate itself from her body due to a certain blue haired devil.

Y/N: Forget about the workers, we have to maintain the stability of the department!

I glanced at the screen near us as I desperately tried to drown out the screams around us. On it, a familiar name was on it.

Melting Love.

Y/N: BongBong, go take care of it.

BongBong: Bong.

She simply nodded and went along with my request. Her figure soon slipped past the panicking clerks and entered the hallway leading to the slime girl. With that done, I faced the blond haired girl and asked her to go assist with the other departments to suppress Big Bird and Red. She followed my order and went upstairs to the upper floor.

All alone with yelling workers roaming all around me, I unconsciously grabbed my head, feeling a headache forming with the constant noises ringing in my ears. I couldn't blame them for acting the way they were, especially considering that they weren't equipped to deal with abnormalities but all this incessant brouhaha was starting to hurt.

Through that cacophony, a voice was faintly heard.

Dana: Captains, please report your status.

Y/N: ...Currently in immense pain mentally, as you might be able to hear.

To accentuate my point, I turned my device in the direction of the ones letting their fears take control of them. Once done, I turned it back around as I lean against one of the walls near me, the angelic girl following my actions.

Hana: Nothing on our side.

Alter Ego: We're trying to to neutralize Red, Hava is holding her at bay.

???: We have everything under control he- Hey, is that Army in-

Before the one on the radio could finish his sentence, a massive explosion took me by surprise, making me jump back on my feet. It seemed to come from the upper layer. Ignoring the voices coming from the people running around me, I focused my attention on the small radio that I was carrying and a long, awkward silence followed that explosion.

...

???: Uh... So good news, Army in Black has been suppressed on our side.

Y/N: ...

An extremely long pause continued afterwards, none of the captains daring to speak up after hearing what just happened.

???: Bad news, it kinda just wiped the Training team's office workers, I've also been breathing its smoke for a while now and I'm starting to see ghosts.

Hana: ...You incompetent dumbass.

???: How was I supposed to deal with this, I had to send everyone on my team to deal with the abnormalities in our department! I didn't have the power to fight it on my own!

Hana: Then call for assistance you-!

Y/N: Everyone please calm down, now's not the time to be fighting!

I pinched the bridge of my nose as I let out those words, my patience was starting to run dry. I had close to no time at all to rest between each ordeals we've gone through and it was beginning to affect me. Especially after that long duel on that bloodied battlefield against my own corpses, if that was appropriate to call them that.

The important part is that I was mentally exhausted and that was it.

???: If you have time to be arguing, could you please help us deal with Big Bird, this fucker just chopped someone's head off!

Y/N: I've sent support your way.

As much as I would have liked the conversation to end there, the gods above us sadistically pulled the rug from under us once more in the form of yells coming out of the device that I was carrying.

???: Oh shi- You gotta be shitting me!

Dana: What's going on?

The voice of the Training team's captain echoed with a hint of shock in his words. I frowned slightly to myself, expecting the worst news possible to come out following his outburst.

???: Why is Forsaken Murderer out?! I sent someone to deal with him!

???: S-Sir, before I could reach the containment room, he suddenly escaped, I'm sorry!

???: Don't just stand there and apologize, help me deal with him!

...I don't know if I should be expressing my relief that it was simply Forsaken Murderer or my pity for the agents working under the idiot serving as the Training team captain. If Hod were to see this, she would most definitely start to bash them on the head with instructions on how to properly deal with abnormalities.

In a way, the rug pulled under us simply caused us to trip slightly but sadly, its intention was not to harm us directly but rather, create a catastrophe constantly worsening with each moment, more abnormalities roaming left and right with no signs of stopping.

...

Oh but if only it had stopped there, I would have simply pushed it aside as a mere bother. In hindsight, it was the one overlooked mistake that drove us into an impasse, one red flag too many.

...

I rolled my eyes upon hearing the poor coordination skills demonstrated by the one in charge of the Training team while Hod was away and I'm pretty sure a sigh was faintly heard through the radio as well, someone else in the same state as mine.

Hell, even despite her expression remaining unchanged, the girl beside me gave me a silent look that screamed "Are you working with these dumbasses?", which I was forced to nod along. It says a lot about you when even your enemies feel second-degree shame.

Ignoring that fact for a moment, I moved my focus onto the the main room, only to see all the office workers run in the same direction: away from one of the hallways connecting to it. Surprised by that sudden change of behaviour, I readied my rifle and watched the door open.

BongBong: Bong.

Finally, like a demon emerging from the deepest layer of hell, the long haired girl in a suit entered, her rifle over her shoulder like it was a mighty sword. However, her outfit was covered with pink slime. Said substance was also seen stuck in her hair, something that she seemed to not acknowledge, swiftly spinning around to shoot through the opened door.

Soon after her, the cause of that slime entered the department, looming over us with its height as it tried to crush the girl with its entire body. A bead of sweat fell down my face as I realized what was going on, immediately alerting through my radio of the breach we had to deal with.

Y/N: Everyone evacuate! Do not stand in the crossfire!

I desperately warned the workers escaping the scene and opened fire on the escaped abnormality who no longer cared about keeping a "cute" and "harmless" appearance. With each bullets hitting their target, gurgles could be heard from within the body of the thing, causing me to flinch unintentionally upon hearing those horrible noises. Thankfully, it didn't seem to faze BongBong, who retaliated with a second burst of projectiles, the barrel of her rifle fuming like it was on fire.

Despite the flurry of bullets launched its way, the abomination simply ignored us and dissected a part of itself before spitting it across the department, perfectly landing on one of the panicking clerks. To my horror, his screams loudly echoed as his own skin began to dissolve like paint, revealing the layers beneath it to be completely assimilated by the foreign body, who did not hesitate to spread its influence further. Soon after, trapped in a cocoon of pure slime, the body was devoured, leaving only a skull behind its ravenous process.

The result was a newly created lifeform around our size who soon began to create arm-like appendages, reaching for the office workers near.

Clerk 1: Get that thing off of me!

Clerk 2: Beat the shit out of it!

With their pistols being as effective as wet towels, the workers fought back by kicking the crap out of the monstrosity born from one of their colleagues as they attempted to make their escape.

Meanwhile, the both of us were focused on the big slime trying to extend its influence beyond the confines of its room, filling its body with a constant cycle of bullets in hope of neutralizing it before more casualties could occur.

Adrenaline was pumping through my body like a drug, numbing my senses of fear and causing my perception of time to slow down... extremely. It was like I was forced to see everything around me occur a hundred times slower than normal. Yet, despite that, it all still felt way too fast for me, my brain unable to fully adapt to this sudden slowness.

It was a weakness that did not go unnoticed by our opponent, who immediately went for a strike. My eyes widened, my feet stuck in place because my sluggish brain couldn't send them the order to jump out of the way fast enough.

...

My eyes quickly scanned my surroundings as the mass of slime loomed over me, desperately looking for a way to stop the incoming attack. During that moment of panic, I was faintly able to feel a change in the air next to me before a hand pushed me aside. My blood stopped for a second out of shock but when I turned around, that shock came with a reason.

Facing the escaping abnormality was the one held hostage by us, the unharmed threat that would have normally tried to kill us all if given the choice and a weapon to do so. Following her first action, she dashed in my direction and performed a moonsault to jump out of the slime's range, landing perfectly next to me. A moment of silence passed and I took a look at the one who pushed me to safety, sadly interrupted by the enemy we were facing.

It pursued the assault without care, simply attacking for the sake of spreading its infection. To prove that point, the previously mentioned assault consisted of removing small pieces of its body to throw at us.

Y/N: ...Tch!

I gritted my teeth and responded to the attack by protecting myself via using my rifle. On the other hand, the girl dressed in white beside me simply took the hit and shrugged off the damage, tossing the pieces of slime that remained on her on the ground.

However, while the first strike may have been prevented, I couldn't defend myself against a full tackle coming from the abnormality itself. The impact was strong enough to shove me away, causing me to stagger.

My vision temporarily grew hazy upon receiving a direct attack, forcing me to slightly shake my head to adjust my sight. The process may have only taken a second but it was a second too much, putting my life at risk during that small moment of weakness. My eyesight was still trying to recover from the sudden tackle I received a moment ago but even in its current state, I could perfectly see the large mass of slime loom over my head, attempting to crush me under its weight.

Realizing that, I braced for the second impact and glared back at the abomination standing before me. I firmly held my feet in place, not letting panic overwhelm me like the workers under my guidance, who were still busy dealing with one of their own colleagues that was turned into a pile of slime.

Finally, as if the gods got bored of seeing this development, that was when the one mistake we shrugged aside returned to haunt us, a grim reminder of our failure to perfectly perform our duties as agents. All happening because Forsaken Murderer escaped before its containment room could be accessed.

"You missed your opportunity."

To add salt to the wound, the voice who reminded us all of our current state was none other than the Arbiter herself, her voice going through me like a ghost whispering into my soul. A single heartbeat followed her solemn words, a heartbeat that lasted less than a full second, a constant noise confirming that I was still alive in this purgatory.

Said heartbeat was the last thing to reach my ears before the ground in front of me was torn open like a piece of paper, the floor breached by a massive pillar that impaled the slime creature that attempted to tackle me. In response to that sudden attack, it could only let out a low gurgle filled with shock before exploding into a rain of slime due to the high pressure applied by the pillar once it entered its body.

Not done, it continued its path towards the ceiling, pierced through it and resumed its journey without a single problem, leaving me in a state of bewilderment that almost made me forget about the slime falling on me. I slowly looked down at where the monster was a moment ago to only see its lower part still attached to the ground, the head now nothing more than fragments falling down like raindrops.

"Warning! Rabbit protocol failure, lockdown removed in the following departments: Architecture."

Y/N: ...

I glanced at my own hands, covered by the pink substance scattered everywhere in the room. I shook my head slightly and gave wide swings with my arms to free myself from as much of its presence as possible.

Y/N: I don't think I'll ever be able to eat jelly after this.

I mumbled under my breath those words and turned to face the duo who were fighting alongside me. One of them, the girl with closed eyes, simply ignored the remnants of Melting Love lingering on her while BongBong... well, did BongBong things I suppose.

BongBong: BongBong.

Looking down at one of her hands covered by the "corpse" of the recently suppressed abnormality, she leaned her face closer and took a quick sniff. Probably not smelling anything interesting for her, she tossed it on the ground and looked back at me.

As I said, BongBong doing BongBong stuff, I don't think anyone's surprised by now.

With a sigh, I reloaded my rifle and turned around, perfectly landing a shot on the remaining slime, who immediately collapsed before turning into a mere puddle. A long moment of silence filled the air afterwards, only for one of the office workers to begin to dance for no apparent reason.

If I remember correctly they were the one who were high out of their mind and laughing in a corner.

Clerk 1: Mhm hmmm... Mhm~

Clerk 2: Why... Why are you dancing, one of our colleagues just died!

Clerk 1: The hell do you think I'm doing right now?! I'm dancing to cope, it's MY stress and I deal with it however I want!

Letting his thoughts escape his lips, he resumed his dance, whistling a song to himself. A single drop of sweat fell down my face after witnessing this scene, watching the ones working with me slowly descend into madness.

Y/N: Melting Love has been successfully suppressed, a single casualty on our side. How are the suppressions going?

I finally managed to pull myself together after a long moment spent with me just standing still and observing the one coping with the loss of his colleague by dancing. Truthfully, as dumb as it was, I had to admit that he had some impressive moves.

...Not that it really was important considering our situation but- Nevermind, stop losing your focus Y/N, now's not the time!

Hana: We're in deep shit that's for sure, the entirety of my department has gone haywire. The containment rooms of every abnormalities we are holding are experiencing malfunctions.

???: Same for us, half of our abnormalities have gone rogue and one on my agents was crushed by those weird pillars that broke through the ground.

Alter Ego: T-This is bad, everything is escaping and we don't have enough people to control this!

Her voice was clearly strained. The pressure was slowly putting a number on her and she was getting desperate by now. The problems were never stopping, forcing her to work constantly to fight against the tides of fate.

Feeling anxious about this, I glanced in the direction of the monitor and just as I feared, the only thing I could see were many alerts signaling issues with the containment units of our department, thankfully WhiteNight was not one of them. Still, it didn't change the fact that I was also put under pressure, forced to deal with many anomalies with not enough employees to take care of each one of them.

I unconsciously let out an awkward chuckle and tried to think of a solution. Surely something can be done to deal with this mess, anything! It's usually into those dire times that the heroes in stories gather together to think of a perfect plan to turn the situation in their favor.

*Beep*

Y/N: ..?

Lightly taken aback by the sudden beeping noise, I focused back on the screen. On it, as if trying to overpower the many warnings appearing, was a single message, a single order sent to us with a precise goal.

"Ignore the Meltdowns, suppress the Arbiter."

Y/N: ...

It was an order directly from the Manager himself, demanding us to ditch our duties and simply go all out on the one causing this in the first place. For a moment, I couldn't process the demand, it felt so unreal that my mind couldn't accept it until a voice echoed in my eardrums.

Marisa: Captain!

Sprinting inside the room, probably after dealing with Big Bird, she grabbed my sleeve and gave it a solid yank to snap me out of my daze. I blinked once and quickly regained my composure.

Y/N: R-Right! Come on BongBong, you saw the order given to us!

BongBong: Bong.

Like a dog following the order of her master, the blue haired girl immediately changed into a battle position, her hands swiftly taking hold of her rifle. I did the same and without hesitation, we all ran in the direction of the Disciplinary team in order to meet up with both the Extraction AND the Architecture agents.

Behind us, like our shadow, was the unarmed invader. While the sounds of our respirations could be heard loud and clear, she on the other hand did not utter a single sound, casually keeping up with us without breaking a sweat.

...It was honestly rather surprising to see her do so actually, considering that she wasn't ordered to follow us. No matter how docile she acted, she was still an enemy, she could have used that opportunity to escape our gaze but she didn't.

Y/N: ...

Soon enough, the walls changed from yellow to blood red, indicating the transition between the Central Command and Disciplinary department. The only thing I could hear were our deafening footsteps echoing around along with my heart beating vividly. Our way to access the Extraction team was right in front of us, nothing to block our path.

Marisa: Come on, we're close-!

Her voice was barely able to reach me before a cacophony of madness shattered the very air around us. If I had to describe it, it was as if the fabric of reality was torn apart, broken like fragile porcelain. My heart skipped a beat out of fright from the shock and almost tripped on my own feet. Thankfully, I successfully stopped myself from doing so.

"I always pay my price."

Y/N: What?

Then, right in front of me, the blond haired girl collapsed, going fully limp. My eyes widened and my hand grabbed her arm to break her fall. However, the moment my fingers made contact with her skin, I could feel the cold grasp of death on her, confirmed by her blank eyes staring back at me and her mouth left slightly open. She was no longer breathing, her dead eyes piercing me like a spear.

My legs were trembling slightly at the sight, my arms holding a now deceased person that once worked under me, relied on me even. My face grew pale and my grasp on her weakened, causing her now lifeless body to fall back on the ground.

Y/N: I...

BongBong: ...

I didn't know what to do, I couldn't even explain how she died even, leaving me in a dumbfounded state. I took a step away from the girl laying on the ground, trying to calm down my beating heart. Sensing my slight distress, my hand was soon grabbed the remaining girl, BongBong, who forcefully dragged me along... leaving the one who perished behind like a bag of trash.

...

In the end, we couldn't even reach the Extraction department and for a good reason. As we reached the lower part of the Disciplinary department, we were greeted by a horde of agents passing by us, aiming for the hallway to the right of the stairs. I recognized some of them immediately.

Sinvicta: Don't let her escape!

Hana: You're not getting away!

With so many people running after a single person, there was only one explanation, a singular culprit behind this. I nodded in the direction of the blue haired devil and we both chased after them, entering the lower corridor of the red sector.

Once inside, my guess was quickly confirmed. Floating in the air and completely ignoring the employees attacking her was the woman in black, albeit her presence felt... odd. I couldn't properly explain that feeling but one thing was sure: we had to defeat her.

[W]: ...

I loaded my pink E.G.O but stopped myself in my motion after a certain object caught my attention. Completely ignored by the agents that were focused on Binah and even Binah herself was a white cannon, the same color as the outfit the one we were holding hostage had. Quickly piecing everything together, I glanced in her direction and saw her closed eyes lock themselves onto it, a new target.

It was her weapon, no doubt about it and she was aiming for it.

BongBong: BongBong.

Also ignoring that small detail, BongBong swiftly jumped into the battle without fear, releasing a rapid burst of bullets inside the Sephirah. Keeping an eye on the intruder by my side, I aimed the barrel of my weapon and pressed the trigger, helping the others still fighting the one behind this chaos.

I was slightly pushed away by the recoil and during that small window of opportunity, the Arbiter turned around to confront the ones attacking her. Without saying a single word, she raised one of her hands and a source of light began to form, she was about to retaliate.

My attention was temporarily broken by that sudden realization, which was enough time for the angelic girl to make a full sprint in the direction of her weapon. It only lasted a single second and by the time said second was over, the girl was now standing between me and the Arbiter, her weapon in hand and her gaze watching the group of people gathered together.

...A bunch of easy targets.

Y/N: Shit!

I gritted my teeth, knowing that even if I were to warn them, they wouldn't be able to escape the range of her attack. At the same time, they were also busy to dodge Binah's attack, all running behind her to get to safety. Despite being the only one a risk right now, I held my position, not like I would have been able to dodge my fate even if I tried.

Still standing the both of us was the girl now in possession of her cannon. She silently faced the one ready to unleash her energy and simply kneeling down on the floor, raising her hands in a praying motion while her odd weapon began to float in the air. What was she doing?

Binah: ...

Completely uninterested by the strange behaviour of the one in front of her, the light in her hand dispersed and following that, multiple slashes began to bounce on the walls, floor and ceiling, forming a moving wall of lasers, a wall of death for anyone unlucky enough to cross its path. They soon found their way to the girl but strangely stopped, as if blocked by some unknown force. What was even weirder was that the one praying was completely unharmed, calmly staying in their praying position.

Then, the attacker's body slightly moved, touching her body for a moment before lowering her hand, revealing many slashes on her outfit.

Y/N: ...

Did... Did she deflect the attack? The damage on her body looked like she was struck by her own projectiles. I was slightly taken aback by that revelation.

[W]: ...

I glanced at the one on the floor and to my surprise, a shift in her expression was briefly seen. It wasn't something flamboyant but just enough to be noticeable if you paid close attention to her face. Indeed, for a small instant, her normally emotionless visage revealed a small smile, a smile that one could classify as a grin even.

However, as soon as it was noticed, it was already gone. She slowly stood up and stared at the wounded AI and glanced at the employees behind her, trying their best to damage her while she was busy. Her cannon now back in her hands, her gaze locked onto the group of agents gathered together. A long moment of silence came from her before she aimed, pointing her weapon at them and the woman dressed in black.

BongBong: ...Bong.

In that crowd, the monster who seemed to be the bane of that girl's existence reflected her gaze with her own and calmly placed one of her fingers against her throat before swiftly making a line with it to imitate a blade cutting through, all of this done while her eyes were still fixated on the one holding a cannon of vapor.

[W]: ...

It a simple movement, something that one could easily dismiss but it was enough to make the intruder hesitate. Finally, she lightly raised the angle of her attack so that it would go above their heads and aim for Binah's, a bead of sweat falling down her face as she did so.

She was definitely terrified of her, which would explain her assistance in this.

As I took aim for another shot, an audible cough escaped from my lips, feeling my throat getting stuck by something. If I had to take a guess, it was probably due to the stress, the same for the sweats going down my face. I swiped my forehead to get rid of that uneasy sensation, only to find cold sweats to replace what was on my face before. Now on my sleeve was pink slime, dripping down from it and landing on the floor next to my feet.

Y/N: ...

I cleaned my face a second time and more was found on my hands, slowly falling down as if to escape my grasp. My eyes widened slightly and my body froze slightly, remembering that office worker screaming while being consumed by that substance.

I unconsciously gritted my teeth at the realization and pressed the trigger of my rifle. If I had to die then I'm making sure to take someone down with me, that person being the figure before us. The one in question turned around to confront the horse of employees and raised her hand, causing mist to form around her of different colors, all taking the shape of long cylinders.

Y/N: ...Crap.

She was trying to create more pillars, I was sure of it. Not a single word left the machine we were battling as she did so, calmly and silently observing her raised limb creating those objects that would soon materialize. The process seemed to not be stoppable, all of us forced to witness with our own eyes what would soon happen.

...

...

???: Don't you have anything more interesting to do than repeat the same attacks for a second time?

A single question was thrown in the air like a blade slashing through bamboo, said imaginary blade followed by a line of pure light that seemed to carry the physical manifestation of that statement, cutting away at the world itself along with the exposed arm of the Arbiter. A loud thud followed, the noise of the removed limb echoing. Finally, after that theatrical entrance, the attacker was revealed, standing to face the AI with their back.

Hava: A recycled boss gets boring you know~

Y/N: Hava!

Her long hair moved around, trying to catch up to her swift movements. In her hands, her trusty scythe was seen, shining like a beautiful blade capable of cutting the impossible. Her face, arboring her usual grin, looked at the arm next to her and then landed on me.

Hava: The slime doesn't fit you, you should go for a different look.

Once more letting out a remark, she spun around and landed a kick in the Sephirah of the Extraction team, causing her to lose focus and making the still forming pillar dissipate in the air. Not done, she jumped in the air, held her weapon with both hands and swung it down like a mace in the direction of her opponent's head, her red eyes shining bright with bloodlust.

Although her attack was rather impressive, it left her completely exposed, something that a machine like Binah would easily notice and take advantage of. Without a moment of hesitation, she raised her remaining arm and aimed it at the girl, planning to release a second wave of slashes to cut her apart.

With a range as close as this one, there was no room to dodge for the one targeted but the matter was completely different for others. Following that logic, my eyes were quickly able to see a second person jump in the way between Hava and the foe we were fighting, taking the hit for her and land on the ground, motionless.

It was one of the Disciplinary office workers, one who fearlessly tossed their life to save someone above their level, trained by Gebura to not act as cowards in the face of danger. His body completely torn open like a paper bag, blood came out of the multiple wounds. Thankfully he was already gone or else his next moments who have been pure torture.

Hava: Drop dead once and for all!

A loud impact echoed once her E.G.O made contact with her enemy, sparkles flying in the air like tiny stars. The one receiving said powerful strike staggered for a bit, which was used by the other employees to inflict even more damage on her.

Trapped on all sides, she turned in my direction, only to be met by the end of the angelic girl's weapon. She was at the last of her strength and confronted by a weapon that could easily turn even the strongest of us insane. Time seemed to slow down as the cannon began to power up, her closed eyes facing the Arbiter with no feelings whatsoever.

Finally, like a trail of cosmic dust in the night sky, smoke shot out like a laser, piercing the machine and destroying its insides. For a moment, all of us stood still in fear that she might move, only for her head to lower slowly. It was followed by her body falling on the floor. In a sense, it was a poetic ending and rather ironic one too, eliminated not by an employee like us but rather one that would have sided with her in order to cause as many casualties as possible.

[W]: ...

Y/N: ...

Despite feeling the slime on my face slowy fall on the ground, I couldn't help but remain immobile. The scene felt like a fever dream, I couldn't believe it and that feeling was shared by many.

Trapped in a daze, I stood there and watched as the whole around me collapsed, becoming a darkness that my eyes couldn't see through. However, just before everything turned to nothingness, the girl who dealt the final blow sighed, her lips forming words that she did not utter.

"Good grief."

(I just realized that Binah on Day 49 has 600 less HP than the Claw and has worse resistances too, 0.8 compared to the Claw's 0.4 on the last phase, you could literally ignore the Meltdowns and rush her and she would die twice as fast. Does that excuse the fact that the fight on this chapter was shit? Nope, I was just completely exhausted after writing Day 48, which was probably the peak of this story in terms of combat and story. I knew that it wasn't going to be as good and it shows too, the quality dropped severely.)

...

...

(Am I gonna go rewrite it someday? Fuck no, not like I could have done better anyway. Anyway, see you all for Day 50.)
