Day 46: Fixers, Claws & The Face of a Sweet Devil
(Oh boy, this is it, the final hurdle and then the story is over.)
-Don't look away, just keep your eyes on it. Contain it in your sight.
-It's a good day today! Are you still shy today?
Feeling as if floating in the dark void of space, a sensation of dread filled my body as if fearing what would happen next. No, it wouldn't be accurate to call it "fear" but more like "experience", my body instinctively preparing itself for what would come next but the question is why? Why was I left in such a state? To that, I had no answers, only time would tell. Feeling the firmness of the floor below my feet, I heaved a sigh of relief and opened my eyes to face what would come next.
What was that "next"? My current self would simply shrug his shoulders in confusion at that question but my mind seemed to say otherwise. I must have gone through this point quite a lot of times in order to expect this even with the lack of my memories.
...Standing still, my gaze was fixated in the distance, the lights slowly piercing through the darkness surrounding me like a cage. On the other side of that blinding light, I was met by a facility that seemed familiar but nothing else past that.
Y/N: ...
The moment I tried to ask myself what was going on, my own mind simply responded with a mere "just wait a moment", not in the literal sense of course, I haven't fallen THAT deep into insanity but it was a hunch. Something was telling me that this silence would quickly be disrupted by something.
Like a seer, this hunch of mine came true when the echo of footsteps made its way to me. Although the sound seemed to come at a regular interval, one with keen sense would be able to sense a certain excitement in them.
Turning around to face the unexpected individual, the first thing that caught my attention was the lab coat that they seemed to be wearing. Moving on from that, my eyes slowly went up, scanning the clothes underneath said lab coat all the way up to a red hairclip.
???: Y/N, it's been a while since we last saw each other.
Mh, before I could let a word out, she took the opportunity to land her first strike, calling my name. My mind out of place, I responded with a certain nonchalance.
Y/N: I suppose, [ - ].
What was her name again? No matter how many times I tried to focus, I could never seem to get the answer, even though I knew that it was at the tip of my tongue. Feeling a headache slowly forming, I groaned to myself.
I suppose the name isn't that important right now, I could ask it later.
???: Though I had a feeling that you would come back- No, I knew that you would come back, that would be more precise.
Y/N: What is this place?
Ignoring her words, I forcefully took control of the conversation, knowing that nothing would change if I didn't. Looking around myself, we were the only people inside the room. This is odd, why is nobody here? I would assume that a place like this would be filled with employees walking around but it was devoid of life.
???: Hm? You don't remember?
I shook my head, was I supposed to remember this place?
???: ...
Lowering her eyebrows slightly at my response, she quickly regained her composure and gave me a warm smile, as if remembering something. Stepping closer, she placed one of her hands on the sleeve of my uniform.
Looking down, it was a standard black outfit with no real flashy colors catching my eyes. A monotone black with a red tie, I think I remember being given this but I couldn't exactly pinpoint when. Frowning at my holes in my memory, I could feel that something was off but couldn't put a finger on it.
???: Well, since we'll be working together, I should properly introduce myself... but you already know my name, we both exchanged them a while ago.
Y/N: [ - ] right?
There it is again, that name, why can I not remember it? This is getting weird, too weird even, even this outfit felt out of place for me, something was clearly wrong with all of this but what? WHAT is wrong?
???: Glad to see that you remember it~! I would be a little sad to see you forget it so soon.
Taking a step back, she spun around with a wide smile of her face before raising a hand in my direction, inciting me to take it. Looking down at the invitation given to me, I glanced back at her face.
???: I wanted to personally welcome you. We may not be many but I'm sure that with enough efforts, we will achieve our goal.
Y/N: ...And that goal being?
To that, her smile remained unchanged but her face radiated hope and kindness.
???: To cure the disease affecting everyone here, the disease of the mind.
She seemed genuine with her claim, completely trusting what she was saying to me. Seeing that optimism for something that felt so outlandish, I couldn't help being taken aback. That hand extending towards me was the final step to take, almost like an unspoken contract. If I take it, I would not be able to go back.
With something as insane as "curing the disease of the mind", one would definitely be curious to know where they are coming from. Yet, even with that in mind, I did not budge from my spot. Lowering my own eyebrows this time, I gave the woman a long gaze before speaking up.
Y/N: Why would I follow a woman who is already dead?
???: ...
Just like that, the scenery shattered, an illusion breaking apart like a dream vanishing with the arrival of the sunlight. The world breaking apart, it soon returned to a place that I was more familiar, Lobotomy Corporation. Quickly taking a peek at my outfit, I recognized the vibrant pink suit covering me along with the sniper rifle arboring the same color, the mere confirmation of their presence enough to bring warmth in my soul.
However, standing before me, the woman persisted, remaining still with her arms by her side, giving me a sad look. Thinking back to what just happened, I could feel a bead of sweat falling down my face. Who knows what could have happened if I took her hand...
Right, I remember, her name...
Y/N: Carmen.
Hearing her own name being uttered, her gloomy face brightened up but it could not completely remove her previous feelings from it, a lingering shadow.
Carmen: So, you do not want to take my hand.
Y/N: ...
I did not reply back to that statement, there was no need. I suppose the sight of one floating in a bathtub filled with nothing but crimson would leave a normal person horrified. Even though I couldn't remember said scene, the mere act of her speaking with such a bright smile was enough to force it back into my memory.
Probably sensing it as well, the girl turned her back to me and took a step away, contemplating the empty space in front of her. Although I've successfully recovered my memories of her death, it doesn't explain how she's standing before my very eyes, am I losing it? Something must be at work right now to cause all of this.
Carmen: I understand your refusal. After all, this... place has not been the most comforting experience.
Y/N: That part couldn't be any more true.
Lowering her shoulders, she took a deep breath and looked over her them in my direction.
Carmen: But still, I want you to follow me.
Y/N: Follow you?
Carmen: I don't want to see what will happen next, I don't want to see YOU witness what will happen next.
Her voice was trembling, she was begging me to go along with her proposal. The woman who once brought light upon those she looked at with a mere smile was now on the brink of sorrow. Fully turning aroung to face me, she took a step closer with droplets falling down her face.
Carmen: So please, just take my hand and stop here.
Y/N: ...
So many emotions, a shame that they serve nothing.
Y/N: You seem to be forgetting something. I'm not the one making the decisions, I am an employee, I follow the Manager's orders and my will does not have importance in any decisions.
Even if I sometimes wish that I could change things, it would never happen. This is why I try my hardest to save as many people as I can during the working hours. Yet, this ghost is asking me a decision that a mere person at the bottom of the chain should not make.
Carmen: I know that! His plan is, to say the least, complicated and I have my own reproaches about it. It hurts me to see what is going on in this place, forced to witness everything. It hurts even more to see you fall just like me.
Y/N: Just like you?
Carmen: Don't you remember when you first began? I do, you had the energy to face your day with a smile and even though some complications happened during your work, you tried to do your best. Can you say the same about the current "you"?
That, I had to admit, she was right. Reminiscing back to the first days that I could remember, awkwardly meeting Alter Ego, proceeding with my work with care and efforts and trying my best even though a lot of odd stuff was happening. Now, well, you could say that I'm nothing more than a shell of my former self, after witnessing the horrors of this place, joy was nothing more than a notion in the back of my head, buried by the stress eating away at my mental health.
In the end, I simply became somber, losing hours of sleep thinking about the screams of employees I could not save nor protect, all the lives lost under my guidance.
Carmen: I want you to take my hand. You won't have to remember any of this, you'll be able to recover this blissful innocence of yours, as long as you keep accepting my offer. Please, I don't want you to continue.
I suppose I could see her point. If I were to constantly take her offer, I would never have to deal with the aftermath of everything that happened in here because I would keep forgetting. However, this train of thought is massively flawed, like putting the same band-aid over the same wound over and over again.
Y/N: I can't accept. I've decided that I want to reach the end of this and I will do my best to do so.
Understanding that I would not change my mind, her tears dried up quickly, revealing a simple, emotionless look. Placing her hands in her lab coat, she kicked the floor below her and mumbled to herself but loud enough for me to hear her.
Carmen: You'll simply die again, just like always and I'll be forced to see it.
Y/N: ...
Again huh? So it hasn't been the first time I've denied her offer but it seems like I never made it past that point considering that I'm still trapped in this place, makes me wonder what is the cause of said death.
Carmen: No no no, I can't let this happen, I don't want to see this, I don't!
Starting to get a nervous breakdown, she suddenly jumped at me and grabbed my shoulders, taking me by surprise.
Carmen: If you don't accept my offer then you'll break apart, just like I did, can't you understand that?!
Y/N: I... I know that I might risk leading myself to disappointment but at this point, I can't tolerate this place, I'm going to push till the very end and see it with my own eyes!
With a forceful push, I shoved the woman with brown hair away and saw her along with the world surrounding me disappear, leaving me in the darkness.
"Once you see the end for yourself, you will regret not taking my hand Y/N.", those were the last words I was able to hear before I blacked out.
...
...
Y/N: ...
Groaning to myself, I looked at my surroundings, my ears immediately attacked by the obnoxious alarm ringing into my eardrums. It seemed like I was back in the Central Command department, even though I had no memories of making my way back here... No, I don't think I ever left it considering how the previous day ended.
With not even a break to catch my breath, a new ordeal began just after the previous one.
Y/N: What's the current status of the department?
Shifting gears to return to my work mode, I asked one of the passing office workers about the current situation. Needless to say that they jumped in fright at the sudden voice calling out to them before answering.
Office Worker: As far as we know, nothing's out of the ordinary sir.
Y/N: ...Is that so.
Considering how yesterday unfolded, the horror has yet to show up, I couldn't afford to lower my guard. Frowning slightly at the current predicament, I peeked over my shoulder and saw the familiar figure of the heartless woman known as BongBong casually checking her knife, her rifle placed on the table near her.
BongBong: ...Bong?
Y/N: Nothing, don't mind me, just getting my bearings.
Yep, I'm definitely losing it if I'm starting to get a meaningful conversation out of her usual noises. However, now was not the time to be worrying over something as unimportant as my own mental health in this mess, for the sake of the ones who place their trust and faith in me.
Y/N: Everyone stand on guard, we cannot afford to let a mistake slip by us, we do not need a repeat of yesterday!
Although, is it me or is there a clear lack of office workers roaming around, the room felt awfully empty for my taste compared to the previous days. Shrugging off said feeling aside, I took a deep breath and moved my focus elsewhere.
*Beep*
Ah, I guess even in this chaos, the orders were still coming. Adjusting my suit, I cleared my throat and hurried in the Disciplinary department in the direction of my work. On the way there, I could feel a sense of dread building up, a feeling that only grew stronger when I saw how empty the hallways of the crimson department were.
Looking down at my own hands, I surprised myself by discovering that they were trembling slightly, as if fearing something. Letting a bead of sweat fall down my face, I turned my hands into fists and tried to calm myself before looking back up, instantly walking into someone.
???: Hey, be careful.
Taking a step back in surprise, I looked at the person I bumped into and recognized the face staring back at me. Long black hair reaching down her face with red eyes like Hava's stabbing through my soul like nothing, carrying a match between her lips like a cigarette. I remember her, during Gebura's rampage, she was the one to ended that nightmare with that winged staff.
...What was her name?
???: Well, look who finally decided to wake up.
Y/N: Finally?
Nonchalantly grabbing the small object sticking out of her mouth, she twirled it around her fingers while answering my question.
???: When I passed by earlier, you were completely knocked out, the office workers thought that you died. Though they did figure out that you were asleep and let you rest.
THEY ALLOWED ME TO REST?! WITH THE CURRENT EMERGENCY?!
Y/N: ...When was that?
???: Heh, do I look like I carry a clock? I'd say about an hour ago.
Speechless, I stood still, allowing the woman to walk past me while I was left in a daze. Not only did I just learn that I woke up late for work, I also learned that the office workers and even the employees let me do so, completely ignoring the alarm blaring through the intercom. Holding the top of my head, I resumed my walk with that thought in mind.
How careless, how careless, how careless. How could I let that slip by? I have to remain presentable, I can't slack off! I'm the captain! I was chosen to take care of those under my supervision, I can't take it easy! Yet I just did, I'm a disgrace, I'm a failure at my duties. I can't rest now, not now, not ever until the issue is resolved. Yea that's right, I just have to catch up my incompetence by working twice as hard! I have to set an example to everyone working with me in the same department, to prove them that my current position is not wasted on me! I can't slack off!
Y/N: Can't slack off, can't slack off. Faster, faster, faster.
Entering the containment room, I completely ignored which abnormality I was working, not like it mattered to me with everything happening. Mindlessly performing an observation of said entity, I could feel the seconds passing by, seconds that could have been spent trying to prepare the department for a possible disaster.
Not even a second after my work was completely, I was already outside, running back to my department at full speed in hope of catching up to my mistake. I should be lucky that nothing happened in that short time that I fell asleep but I don't want to take that chance again, I need to be present for as long as possible to keep everything maintained.
I have to, it's my duties as the senior, I have-
Office Worker: Mister Y/N, is everything alright?
Y/N: Hm? I'm fine, don't worry, I got everything!
Flashing the worried clerk a smile, I swiftly turned my head around and began flipping through the documents of the abnormalities currently residing in the department. The motion was rapid and one that wasn't used to it would simply look at my action with shock, wondering if I was even able to comprehend anything in the short amount of time I'm viewing each pages.
Be in my shoes for at least more than probably 20 days, you get the hang of it at some point to save time. I don't even read any of the files, I merely glance at the pictures and move on to the next one, simply noting the risk level underneath it along with its appearance. One might call it insufficient but with all my days spent in this place, I have a good idea of a majority of the monsters living here.
Gotta be prepared for anything and-
Y/N: ...?
Through the constant music echoing in my ears, the sound of an alarm ON TOP of the current one was heard, pausing my trail of thought. That little surprise quickly came with a bigger one, one that nobody here wanted.
Intercom: Warning, intruder [R] detected inside facility!
...Just when I was starting to catch up with the nap I took at the start of the shift.
...
...
In the distance, the clash of blades echoed like a drum of war, drilling into the eardrums of all who were unfortunate to hear it, if they were still alive that is. Indeed, laying on the ground were the now motionless bodies of unfortunate office workers who met their demise to the intruder who appeared out of thin air.
Standing above the victims of this massacre, the girl with long hair known as the captain of the Security team gritted her teeth, her eyes fixated on the foe that she had to keep under control. Quickly jumping at a safe distance from the blade of her opponent, she gasped for air while her eyes took a good look at her target.
[R]: ...
Feeling as if the flow of time was slowing down around her, the adrenaline soon kicked in when she came to the realization that it was someone that she could not lower her guard for even a second, knowing that her death would arrive if she ever took her gaze away from it. Tightly gripping the blade of the dark forest, she kicked the floor below her and charged ahead, only met back with a swift horizontal slash from a red blade coming from one of the humanoid's arms.
Both clashing at equal force, they tried with all of their might to push the opposing attacker into a corner, only to be met with a failure. Trapped in a stalemate, Alter Ego retreated and took a quick breath to recover her stance. Sensing that opportunity, the being that seemed to have come out from nowhere kneeled slightly and readied its blade, dashing right at the woman like a car at full speed.
However, ready against a possible follow-up, the employee raised her blade above her head while the dark wing on her back extended. Then, just like [R], she dashed through the intruder before the both of them turned around for a second assault, exchanging attacks at full speed. If one were to witness this scene, they would only be able to briefly see them for a single moment when they had to turn around in order to clash once more. The noise of a weapon hitting against another formed a melody that seemed to accompany the alarm in the background.
Alter Ego: ...
Completely silent, her face was covered with sweats from both stress and fatigue, feeling her shoulders in immense pain. Forcefully shoving said pain away, she positioned herself in a more favorable posture and opted for a better strategy. Brandishing her weapon in the direction of the ground, she placed her second hand on the blade and held it in a way to reveal the side of the sword to her foe, using it has a shield to block the incoming blows. Assuming a guarding stance, she carefully watched the machine point one of its arm in her direction, opening it to reveal energy amassing at the end of it, ready to be released on her.
Her eyes widening, she changed tactics and dropped down on the floor just in time to see the tip of her hair burn in the massive laser passing right above her head. At this point, she was practically forcing herself to move her body around and before she could stand up, a foot firmly held her against the floor, the humanoid thing pointing the cannon at her forehead with indifference.
[R]: ...
Just as she was ready to accept her demise, the sound of a bullet resonated in her ear. Her assailant's shoulder perfectly struck by the projectile, the head of the machine moved from her to the new person, one that she would recognize anywhere. It was the one she loved with all of her heart, brandishing his rifle. With the barrel still smoking, the man simply lowered the scope and revealed a terrible sight for the woman. The face of the man was no longer shining with the brightness it once had, his eyes burdened by bags underneath them with also an almost vacant gaze.
Y/N: ...
Not saying anything, the door behind him opened and BongBong alongside Hava ran into the room, making sure to keep the enemy at bay. Ignoring the ongoing battle, the man rushed by her side and pulled her back on her feet before walking her in the next room, away from where they were.
Alter Ego: ...Y/N?
He did not answer back to her call, making it only easier for her to tell that something was on his mind. She could see it perfectly, the exhaustion accumulating along with the stress. If this were to get worse, one could easily predict the result once the mind could no longer tolerate the pressure.
Y/N: Are you alright? That thing didn't hurt you too much?
Still, that voice of his felt like a cushion for her that she could fall back on, her heart appeased. Shaking her head with a light smile, she placed the palm of her free hand on his face and softly spoke to the man.
Alter Ego: I should be asking you the same? Are you sure that you're alright?
Y/N: ...
No answer yet again, his eyes lowering to the ground. Taking a deep breath, she puffed up her chest and pushed the subject further, she knew that she would regret her decision if she were to simply leave it at that.
Alter Ego: Answer me Y/N! You can't stay silent!
It was one of the few times she rose her voice at him, giving him a frown that made his eyes widen slightly in response. Giving up, he dropped down on the ground, as if out of energy.
Y/N: I have a lot to deal with, just like everyone here.
Alter Ego: But that doesn't mean you should keep it to yourself, you'll just strangle yourself with all your worries.
Y/N: Strangle huh? I guess it's a good way to put it-
Hava: Hey lovebirds, can you give us a hand? That thing won't die!
Y/N: R-Right!
Quickly standing back up, the one with the pink suit gave a smile to the woman on the floor and joined the duo that were still keeping the robot at bay. Upon entering the room, he swiftly opened fire with a direct hit in the intruder's back, causing it to turn around.
Hava: You're just gonna leave a lady hanging like that? Too bad, I'm not done with you!
With a light chuckle to accompany her line, she twirled her scythe around one of her hands and jumped on the humanoid, placing her legs around its neck before planting her free hand on top of the helmet. Perfectly in place, she locked the thing's head with her thighs while flashing her foe a wide smile, slamming the sharp end of Da Capo inside the visor.
Quick to follow, BongBong took out her dagger and charged at her target, her cold gaze locked onto her victim. Then, once close enough, she sharply raised her melee weapon and stabbed it into [R]'s chest. With no intention of letting it retaliate, she spun around to gain momentum and perfectly kicked the handle of her knife, shoving it inside the metal suit like it was paper.
With so many attacks received, the opponent collapsed to its knee before one of its arms began to gather energy once more, preparing to fire one last attack. With everyone in the room understanding what was going to happen, Hava clicked her tongue, a first at least to the captain's knowledge, and shoved the machine in the other direction, facing away from the facility. Just as she did, a massive laser pierced through the ceiling of the hallway and went at least a good third of a full rotation before the body finally collapsed, defeated.
Y/N: What was that thing?
Hava: ...
To that question, the woman who always seemed to have everything under control could not say anything. Turning around, Y/N was met with a shocking revelation, the woman was just as lost as he was.
Hava: I don't know...
...
Of course, it simply couldn't end at that, it would be too "simple", too "easy" with not enough casualties. With my many days of experience, I was ready to bet that reality would literally collapse if a way to keep everyone in this place alive was ever found. Even though the first intruder already caused quite the massacre, it apparently seemed to not be enough for this place.
So when the intercom came back on to utter the warnings that turned everyone's expression pale, my composure simply dropped along with my morale, my motivation starting to waver.
Intercom: Warning, intruder [W] & [B] detected inside facility!
Hm? What happened during the time between the previous attacker and now? Heh, nothing, absolutely nothing that mattered in this machine of endless suffering. I had no time to worry about the time that is not used to counter an emergency, the moment of respite for everyone forgotten in the back on my memories while I tried to keep my attention for any signs of an emerging threat.
...Why am I speaking to myself? Was I expecting someone to even hear me? Heheh, I'm definitely starting to lose it. Me? Of all people? Talking to myself? Me, the captain who has to remain perfect to keep everyone calm? Preposterous, I can't start losing it, everyone in my department relies on my commands, I can't rest, I have to lead them on the good path.
Office Worker: Mister Y/N, what should we do?!
Y/N: ...
Office Worker: Mister Y/N?
Right, they need my help, they need it. I can't disappoint them now. It's not a little exhaustion that is going to make me lose focus. I have to ignore that enervation and concentrate on the ordeal ahead of us.
Y/N: Everyone remain on high alert, do not fight the enemy all alone, we do not need any of you to play the hero! Got it?!
All nodding to my order, they scattered in an attempt to keep an eye on every sections of the Central Command department. Although I did tell them that, I can't stay behind, I have to intercept said intruders to reduce the disaster they may cause. Calmly holding my rifle, I took out my radio and began making my round of each teams, asking for the location of the opponents.
Soon enough, the answer came to me.
Sinvicta: We have one in the Disciplinary team!
Dana: Found one inside Information team, requesting assistance!
However, the knowledge came with a dilemma: which should I aim for? In terms of proximity to my department, both of them are in the same range so both are a danger for those under my protection. Who do I prioritize? Which do I choose? A hand on my head, I frowned at the choices before solemnly taking a decision through the radio.
Y/N: I'll go assist the Disciplinary team, everyone stay strong.
Alter Ego: Wait, I'll help you-!
Y/N: No, you need to help the Information team. Everyone on the upper layer, keep the situation under the control, we will deal with the second threat!
With that, my fate was sealed, unable to go back on my words. Heaving a deep breath, I loaded my rifle and turned around to give a nod to BongBong, keeping a watchful eye on the clerks. Silently giving me the go ahead, I dropped my duties on her and sprinted as fast as my legs could carry me. Running, running and running, my breath was nothing more than an echo in my eardrum.
With resolve, I pushed onwards and finally stepped inside the room where the intruder was. Arboring a completely different outfit compared to the previous one, I knew that it was not going to be a pushover.
Sinvicta: Hey Y/N, come on, let's do this!
Already fighting the entity, the man working as the captain of the Disciplinary team flashed a smile in my direction, still wearing the clothes of the monk and holding his weapon. Without giving me a moment to answer, he charged ahead and swung his staff around, quickly hitting the back of his weapon inside the female-looking humanoid's stomach, not letting a moment of mercy.
Not wanting to be left behind, I hurriedly crouched down to adjust my sniper, moving my scope to lock the woman in my sight before pressing the trigger. Quickly following my gesture, a bullet pierced the air in the room and landed perfectly in the back of the unknown threat simply called [B]... or was it [W]? I don't personally know nor care, all I want is for them to die.
[?]: ...?
Sensing my bullet, the walking disaster turned around and faced me for a solid couple of seconds. The both of us silently observing each other, I could feel a certain pressure being placed on my back, a sensation that something was off but I couldn't tell what exactly.
Fortunately, Sinvicta took take of the pressure applied on me by swinging a good kick right in the enemy's side. Pushed away by the knockback, their face turned to face the man once more, almost instantly forgetting about my presence.
???: [W] located, starting suppression!
Emerging from the door on the opposite side of the hallway, my eyes quickly found the silhouette of the girl in charge of the Extraction team, Hana. Wearing the skin of Nothing There as both her weapon and armor, she did not wait around, instantly going for a quick strike.
However, sensing how the scales were shifting, our foe, [W], finally went to the offensive and the cannon on their back began to levitate in the air, placing itself in front of them while steam formed around the tip of it, ready to be unleashed on us. Eyes widening, I stood back up and covered my face, assuming a defensive posture.
...I can't really describe how that attack felt in proper words. When fully released, I could feel the smoke surround and even pierce my body as if I was nothing. The sensations I felt when trapped in that cloud of madness were many, all piling on top of each other in order to make a scar form in my mind.
I can't breathe, it feels like I'm choking on the very oxygen that I'm inhaling. Covering my face, I pushed my sluggish body through the wall of impenetrable smoke and almost collapsed, leaning against the wall to keep a hold onto reality. Gritting my teeth, I simply watched the others fight, forcing myself to cough to the point of puking, desperately trying to clear my lungs from all the gas I breathed in.
Sinvicta: Y/N?! You doing alright?
Y/N: ...
Get out get out get out get out get out, I don't want to feel this sensation, get out of my body! Yet, no matter how many times I tried to empty my whole body of that unknown smoke, I could always feel it around me like a shadow. My breath becoming rapid and catatonic, my vision was moving around, everything feeling unstable.
...
...Even despite all of that, I clenched my fists and bit my lower lip, dropping my rifle down on the ground. The sound echoing in the whole room, the other employees glanced in my direction. I have to keep going, for the sake of those who put faith in me, I can't break under the pressure now.
Y/N: You... Hrn...
Picking up my gun, I swiftly shot a round directly into the angel monster, only for it to not leave even a single scratch unlike the weapons the others were using. Something was wrong, why is my weapon doing no damage? Hell, it doesn't even acknowledge my attacks in the slightest!
Hana: She's about to fire again, everyone watch out!
Indeed she was, the odd gun that she was carrying was slowly placing itself in front of her, ready to release yet another wave of that accursed smoke, something that could cause some serious damage. So, with only one thought in mind, I forced my feet to move and rushed at the target with not a single care in the world.
Then, once close enough, I gave it my best: a solid punch directly in the face. Taken aback by the sudden ridiculous assault, the creature finally faced me just in time for a second serving, not done with my attack. Effectively staggering them, I repeatedly punched the humanoid with as much power as I could muster, releasing my anger and stress with each jabs, even though it did nothing to heal my mental state.
Sinvicta: Wooooaaah! Look at him go!
Without even being able to hear a single word of what the agents were saying to me, I kept hitting the intruder.
A hit, and another and another and another and another and another and another and another and another and another and another and another. I faintly remember the opponent trying to struggle out of my grasp but I quickly shut down that possibility with, as you could probably guess, a new punch.
...
When a certain duo from the Security finally went down once their battle was over, they immediately aimed for the Disciplinary department, worried about the man known as the Central Command team leader. However, their worry went from one thing to another in the blink on an eye once they finally set foot in the room.
There, the cannon of the intruder was laying on the ground, beside a body that was now nothing more than a puddle of blood. Standing above it was the one they were looking for, still swinging good punches, even though the opponent had long since took its last breath. The sound of each fists colliding with the remains was something coming out of a horror movie.
