Day 32: Pinks

-The color of the human heart is pink. By wearing the same color, we can blend into the people's mind.

Y/N: ...

I was currently sitting down on a chair, waiting for Gebura to show up. I waited, waited, waited and waited and she finally arrived, mumbling something under her breath.

Y/N: Hey Gebura.

Gebura: *Sigh* That brat took more than I expected before giving up.

She sat down on the chair facing me and leaned her head against her right hand, a smoking cigarette in her mouth. Remembering that Hava was the cause behind that little chaos, I could only answer with an awkward laugh.

Y/N: So... you had something to tell me right?

Gebura: Yea, I'll just go straight to the point.

She removed the roll of tobacco from her mouth and gave me a slight frown.

Gebura: How much do you remember? I was gained the knowledge that you salvaged some of your past memories at one point and I want to know from you.

Y/N: ...Not much, I know Hod's name, Tiphereth and my memories with Alter Ego, I don't remember anything else.

Gebura: ...Only that...

She whispered those 2 words to herself, thinking of something. She returned her attention back to me and tried to say something, only to be stopped by the one person that I didn't want to see.

Angela: Of course I would find you here with Y/N, Gebura.

The woman in red turned around to look at the AI standing near us and gritted her teeth, interrupting our conversation. Angela ignored her and focused on me, who's currently feeling uncomfortable.

Angela: Y/N, please go to the manager's office at the end of the shift. We are having a discussion and we would like you to represent the employees during the meeting.

Y/N: A representative? Are we gonna have a debate?

Angela: No, it is a simple meeting about a contract but someone representing the employees could be helpful.

Y/N: ...I'm not too sure about that.

Angela: I expect you to go to the manager's office as soon as your shift is over Y/N, no exception.

Gebura: Don't tell me...

Angela: It's for the Rabbit's contract.

The disciplinary Sephirah stood up and glared at Angela with fury, her hands thightened into fists.

Gebura: We don't need those people inside our facility, we can take care of our problems ourselves!

Y/N: ...About that.

I gave an unsure expression while bringing her attention back to me. She noticed my look and she finally gave up.

Gebura: Fine but I'm going with him.

Angela: I do not see the problem in that.

She walked away and I noticed how late it was. I told Gebura that I had to go and left the cafeteria, leaving her on her own.

The next day...

The beginning of a new day arrived and when I stepped inside my department, I knew that today wasn't going to be a quiet one. I saw Tiphereth throwing a tantrum at the employees who didn't do anything to deserve it.

Y/N: ....

Maybe I could sneak away from the situation if I'm fast-

Tiphereth: Y/N!

Nevermind, I'm done for.

Y/N: Yes Tiphereth?

I faced her with a calm look and saw her thightly holding a bottle of Enkephalin, ready to break if she decided to put a little more strength in it. She pointed at me with an accusatory finger and yelled at me.

Tiphereth: You left me alone when I needed you, you're the worst!

Y/N: Left you? You were tired, I simply told someone to let you rest, that's-

Tiphereth: I don't want to hear your excuse, I wanted you to be here and you weren't! You know that Tiphereth isn't coming back yet you still ignore me!

Y/N: I'm sorry then, I really am, I didn't know-

Tiphereth: You should! Every day is painful for me, knowing that you won't acknowledge me!

Y/N: Tiphereth, the Enkephalin is speaking now, please calm down.

Meanwhile...

Hava: *Whistle*

The girl entered the containment room of an abnormality and grinned to herself, knowing who it was due to her memory.

Hava: The protectors? Protectors, my ass, you're useless in a place like this.

(Fun fact: Army in Black can heal employees when Netzach's core suppression is in progress. It also works during day 47.)

She started her observation, her work and frowned a little when remembering what happened yesterday. When Gebura forced them out of the elevator, she received a free beating from the Sephirah...

...Oh well, it doesn't matter in the end.

After all, she wasn't the one who will be saved by Y/N, it wasn't her turn. The others are interfering but not her, she will respect his decision until the very end and wait for the next loop. Until then, it's her duty to observe and help him when he needs her.

Back to Y/N...

Y/N: That took a little more efforts than last time.

In the end, I had to sit next to her and listen to her complaints, yelling to employees passing by before breaking down into tears. All I could do was patting her head in silence, unable to say anything to her before getting screamed at by the Sephirah.

Y/N: I should catch up with the others, I wasted too much time.

I entered the Knight of Despair's containment room and looked at the tall woman looming above me, crying with her eyes closed. Taking out my notes, I started my work, watching the abnormality standing in front of me with careful eyes.

...Feeling the weight of her sorrow, my work became much more grim. However, her sadness couldn't reach my heart, it was a trick, trying to make me fall into her trap. Knowing that she could attack me at any moment, I hurried my task and tried to leave.

...Then sparkles filled my sight, the night sky surrounded me and a calm noise filled the room. I turned around to the woman and saw her smile briefly in my direction. I knew that she blessed me, meaning that my work was over for the day.

Y/N: Wait a minute... that's not right.

I turned on a digital screen inside the containment room, allowing me to monitor who entered the room during the shift. I glanced at the notes of previous employees and saw that only the first one working on the Knight of Despair could be blessed... yet 2 people already went in her room and got a high result with her.

Y/N's mind: How is that...

Unable to find an answer, I looked back at the abnormality, looking at me with her sorroful expression. Giving up in the end, I left and returned to my department, killing a jester that tried to walk past me when the alarm warned us about their presence.

...Also unable to perform any other works, I was forced to wait for the shift to finish.

Alter Ego's P.O.V.

Sitting next to my desk, I sighed while touching my forehead with the fingers of my left hand, waiting for my next order. In the room, Daniel and Elis were talking to each other, the girl weakly smiling back to the optimistic boy.

...Seeing this sight reminded me of Y/N, I wish it could be like that between us, I wish that we could finally reach a good ending in this forsaken place.

Hava: What's wrong?

The girl with the monocle of a past loop asked, not smiling for once. I raised my eyes to hers and averted them back to the ground.

Alter Ego: Now that I remember the past... I don't want to forget, I don't want to forget the memories that we did, not again.

Hava: Understandable but there's not much you can do about it.

She raised a single finger and pointed the ceiling above our heads.

Hava: It's up to the Manager to decide our fate, to be sacrificed to an abnormality for energy or to survive, everything relies on him.

Alter Ego: ...I want to leave this place.

Hava: I want too but we can't do anything to escape this reality, we're all trapped here.

She sat down next to me and then recovered her grin, a cheeky expression of carefreeness floating around her. I smiled back at her and looked at the report that I had to complete for the end of the day.

Hava: Being the captain of the Security team isn't that easy?

Alter Ego: It doesn't help that Netzach is useless, I have to do everything here.

Hava: *Chuckle* You shouldn't blame him, it's taking a toll on everyone in this facility after all.

Alter Ego: I guess I'm not the best one to judge him, nobody is here.

Intercom: Warning! Unknown entities detected inside the facility!

Alter Ego: Could you go take care of this? I still have to finish this report.

Hava: No problem cinnamon bun, keep that cuteness and Y/N won't think of any other girls except you.

Alter Ego: H-Huh?! J-Just go already!

Hava: I am, I am.

She left the room in a hurry and I dropped my head on the desk in a defeated manner, releasing a weak sigh out of my lips that became muffled.

Alter Ego: Why did she had to say that...

I moved my head slightly and saw that I was the only person left in the main room, leaving me with my thoughts. Thinking about Y/N was making my mind go blank, turning my face into a complete mess.

Alter Ego's mind: Now I can't get him out of my head.

Feeling my face changing colors, I hid it with my hands and tried to think of what to do. Aware of my potential doom was a curse already but also knowing that I will forget about the one that I love is even worse, might as well stab me in the guts while I'm already dying.

...What am I supposed to do against this? I don't have any authority in this place, I can't order anyone to stop this mess. Even if I did try, they would know immediately that I recovered my memories.

Alter Ego: Wait... what day is it?

I checked the calendar and saw that it was our 32th day, 32 days in this current loop of this hellish facility. My eyes widened in fear when I remembered what will happen once day 36 will be reached.

Alter Ego: Oh no... this is bad.

I jumped out of my seat, only to sit back down afterwards since I couldn't do anything to stop this eventual meeting between the both of them.

Gebura will protest, I know that but I don't know how Y/N will react when seeing her for another time, what will he do when facing Binah?

Hava: Alter Ego?

Alter Ego: ?

I looked back at the people who entered the room, all giving me a worried look. I mustered my energy and gave them a smile, trying to make them calm down.

Alter Ego: I'm fine, don't worry!

Most of them dropped the case and returned to their activities, leaving Hava and Daniel to insist and push further.

Daniel: Something definitely isn't right.

Alter Ego: I'm fine, you don't have to worry about me-

Hava: That's what you always say whenever you're troubled, you always want to make the others believe that you're fine.

Alter Ego: B-But I'm-

Intercom: Energy quota successfully reached, end of the first shift.

Alter Ego: O-Oh, I have to go, see you tomorrow!

I tried to make a run for the exit and they both blocked my access. I braked in my sprint and felt someone's hand grabbing me from behind. Turning around, I saw Elis giving me a sad and depressed look.

Elis: You are the captain, you have to believe in us.

Alter Ego: But I don't need-

Hava: We'll see about that.

Alter Ego: What?

They started to circle me before dragging me away, where I won't be able to run away from them.
