Day 31: Mysterious Clockwork

-Silence is no longer just bringing peace.

Y/N: ...

I slowly woke up and looked around, noticing that I was back in my room beside a sleeping Alter Ego. Confused, I left the bed and stepped outside the room, seeing employees preparing themselves for the new day ahead of them.

Y/N: I feel like I'm missing something... probably not that important anyway.

I went back inside the room and woke up Alter Ego, who opened her eyes before yawning, giving the impression that she was a small girl. She blinked twice and gave me a warm smile in return before stepping out of the bed.

Alter Ego: Hey Y/N, am I the only one feeling that they're missing some memories?

Y/N: Nope.

Alter Ego: Is that so... Oh well, now isn't the time, our shift should start soon.

Y/N: ...

We both prepared ourselves and then went our own ways, to our own departments. Once in my department, I saw Tiphereth looking around in distress, her hands shaking.

Y/N: Tiphereth?

Tiphereth: ...Y/N?

She quickly snapped her neck in my direction and it allowed me to see bags under her eyes. I frowned at that sight and sat beside her, trying to find out why she was like that.

Y/N: What's wrong?

Tiphereth: Wrong? I'm fine, I'm perfectly fine! Hell, I never felt better!

She said that almost like an automatic response. I narrowed my eyes and looked around, only for my eyes to stop on a bottle on the floor. I leaned closer and picked it up, deciding to read the label on it.

Y/N: Enkephalin? Wait, that's the thing Netzach drinks all the time.

I looked back at Tiphereth and noticed her gaze fixated on me, her legs trembling. I grabbed her arm, trying to make her snap out of it, only for her to latch onto me.

Tiphereth: Don't leave me Y/N, I know that I did some mistakes, I'll change! I promise, I'll become the best Sephirah you've ever seen, don't leave alone, I don't want to feel that pain just like with Tiphereth!

Y/N: H-Huh?! Why this all of the sudden- Did you took the Enkephalin?

She didn't respond and I looked around. I called one of the employees and slowly pushed the Sephirah to him.

Y/N: Go find Gebura or one of the upper Sephirah, tell them that she isn't in a working condition.

Worker: Understood.

He walked away, taking with him a frail Sephirah who tried to fight her way back to me. When she was about to disappear from my view, she yelled her last words before vanishing into the distance.

Tiphereth: Don't leave me Y/N, I don't want to sufffer anymore!

Y/N: ...

Now gone, my shift started with an unknown abnormality. I mentally prepared myself and walked back to the Training team. The walk to it was slow and with each steps, I felt my confidence slowly dropping into the abyss...

...I mean, an unknown abnormality, meaning I could get killed immediately.

Then the moment of truth arrived. The door slowly opened and my first step inside causing sweats to form on my face. I reached for my notepad, took out a pencil, a new breath of fresh air before facing the new threat added to this facility.

...And that thing caused unknown shivers.

Y/N: This... doesn't feel right... I feel like this shouldn't be here.

Standing in front of me was a lamppost with a clock on it. While I was watching it, the time on that clock continued to go by. Recovering my composure, I started writing down my observations, trying to ignore how ominous that thing looked like.

Y/N: ...Maybe it's like One sin... I highly doubt it but I can tell myself that.

I whispered those words to myself and continued writing, continuing to avoid looking at that abnormality. Soon, the alarm rang in the containment room, allowing me to leave that thing alone.

Y/N's mind: That thing is up to no good, I have a bad feeling about it.

Nonetheless, I returned to my department and waited for my next assignment. It arrived and I left the room. Next destination? Little helper. Once inside it's containment room, I grabbed a clipboard next to the door, a sheet of paper with different orders were written on it.

Y/N: Little Helper, fix the light.

Little helper: Understood.

It jumped to the ceiling and latched itself onto it like a spider. A new light matching the one used on the ceiling emerged from it's body and it started changing the light before landing on the floor, a smile on it's face.

Little helper: Is there anything else I can help you with?

Y/N: ...Could you...

I checked through the different orders given to the robot and none of them seemed interesting, at least for me.

Y/N: I know, can you give me advices with women? I recently got into really troublesome situations and I really need to know how to stop them.

Little helper: I was designed to take care of a house, not to be a psychologist dumbass.

Y/N: Did you... Did you just call me a dumbass?!

Little helper: No errors are in my system, I am working perfectly.

Y/N: Yet here you are, stuck in a room like this one.

Little helper: I do not understand what you are saying.

Intercom: 11 PE boxes successfully produced.

Y/N: ...

A little disappointed by that conversation, I stepped outside the room and returned to my department. On the way there, I was stopped by an employee giving me a frightened look, eyes filled with terror.

Clerk: Y-Y-Y/N.

Y/N What's wrong?

Clerk: It's-

???: Y/N! SHOW YOURSELF!

The loud voice of a woman roared in the whole Central Command department, a yell that shook me to my very core. The clerk and I jumped and exchanged a glance. I knew who it was and with the little time that we spent together, I knew that it wouldn't end well.

Y/N: ...

I entered the main room and saw the woman with a red outfit glaring around the room. Once our eyes met, she started making her way to me, stumping the ground under her feet to the point that I was worried that she would break the floor.

Y/N: G-Gebura? Why that sudden commotion-

She grabbed my head and pulled me closer to her face, glaring at me with mix of multiple emotions. Those were enough for me to lose my cool, my legs shaking a little due to her imposing nature.

Gebura: You caused this again, didn't you?!

Y/N: I don't know what you're talking about!

Gebura: That abnormality isn't supposed to be here, we removed it for a reason yet it's currently resting in a containment room!

Y/N: Y-You mean that clock?

I freed myself and then took a step back. I gave a confused expression, not understanding what is so important about that clock. Noticing my lack of comprehension, she calmed down but still frowned at me, placing one of her hands on her hips while doing so.

Clerk in the distance: God, I wish my face could get crushed by those thighs.

Gebura: The only thing you gonna get out of me is a kick in the face if you don't keep your mouth shut!

The clerk ran away but with a grin on his face, not minding the threat given to him. She turned her gaze back to me and I simply stood in place, not saying anything.

Gebura: You didn't hear a thing about what he said, got it?

Y/N: Dunno what you're talking about, I didn't hear anything.

Gebura: *Sigh* At least you understood quickly.

Y/N: Can I go now? I still have my assignments to complete, I can't stay here for too long.

I was about to turn around but I stopped when I felt her hand grabbing my shoulder. I got a little surprised for a moment but stayed silent, listening to what she had to say.

Gebura: ...Could I talk with you after this day?

Y/N: Sure, wait for me at the cafeteria.

Gebura: ...

She removed her hand, allowing me to walk away. Once outside of my department, I peeked over my shoulder and saw something I never expected to see in my whole life...

...Gebura, a woman strong and fearless, holding her face with a slight blush, clearly embarrassed. That sight was enough to let out a laugh out of me, it's not something that you can see often. She returned to her department soon and I entered the room that I was supposed to go in, visiting Melting Love.

Y/N's mind: Breath in, breath out.

I started my report, keeping my eyes on the abnormality as much as possible. The giant slime simply smiled back at me, placing her hand on her body. I tried to ignore that dangerous smile, refusing to fall for her tricks.

Intercom: Warning! Unknown entities detected inside the facility!

Y/N: ...

Unable to go help the others, I continued my work and felt something warm touching my legs. I looked down and saw the slime trying to climb my legs, forcing me to slap it away with the clipboard that I brought inside the room.

Melting love: ...

Y/N: Don't give me that look, you thought that I wouldn't realize that?

Melting love: ...

She was now holding a giant heart that she tried to give to me. Giving her an annoyed look, I slapped it away and it fell on the ground, turning into a pile of slime. She looked at her gift currently resting on the ground and when her eyes returned to me, I could feel a glare aimed at me.

Y/N: I'm not falling for your false gift.

I stepped out the containment room after the machine was done counting the amount of PE boxes she produced during my work and started to do a quick check around, trying to see if I could help the others with those unknown monsters.

...In the end, I wasn't needed. Everything went back to normal and I tried to go do my next task, turning back when the intercom warned us of more invaders inside the facility. I ran through the corridors and heard gunshots, leading me to a group of unknown people mutilating the corpse of a worker.

Y/N: What the-

They turned around and raised their hooks, trying to stab me with them. I blocked the hits with my blade and then shot one of them in the head, doing almost no damage. The enemies then tried to circle me and started to attack me at the same time.

Y/N: ...

I tried my best to dodge but there's not much I could do with the 3 of them blocking my only exits. However, I persisted and shot one of them a second time, trying to get rid of at least one. He blocked the hit and then charged at me. Unable to block in time, he stabbed my arm with his hook and tried to do the same with my head.

Y/N: ...

I stabbed him and kicked him in the right leg, making him lose his balance. In the corner of my eyes, I saw a second one trying to do the same and I used his ally as a meat shield, taking the hit for me. I removed the hook and pushed the 2 of them away from me, giving me a few seconds to breath.

???: Tututuuuuuu!

Suddenly, Hava rushed inside the room with her scythe and behead one of the enemies without a single effort. She gave me a large smile while doing so and then continued with the others, clearing the room instantly.

Y/N: ...That was scarier than those things themselves.

Hava: Hm? Come on, I'm not THAT scary.

Y/N: I beg to differ.

Hava: Good one Y/N.

She grabbed my arm and pulled me back on my feet. I swiped the dirt on my uniform and looked at the single wound that I obtained during this fight, if I can call it one.

Hava: Anyway, I have to go do something to the Central Command department.

Y/N: I have to go back too, I'll just follow you.

We both walked to the elevator and then stepped inside. The doors closed and it slowly went down until it stopped. We both looked at each other and then realized that the elevator broke while we were inside.

Y/N: Talk about bad luck.

Suddenly a little jingle started playing.

Y/N: Oh great, we're stuck in an elevator.

Hava: Nah, we good Y/N, just have to call someone and tell them to get us out of here.

She slowly reached for the emergency phone and then called a number. Once done, she gave me a sign to step closer, a large grin on her face when doing so. Knowing that she was going to do something that could bring us some troubles, I leaned closer and listened.

???: Yes?

I recognized Angela's voice on the other side of the phone, making me look at Hava with a confused expression. She silently told me to just listen and I followed her request. She took a deep breath and spoke up.

Hava: Wazzup robotic bitch who can't do her job properly, it's your favorite employee on the other side of the line.

Y/N's mind: Wtf is she doing?

Angela: *Sigh* It's you.

Hava: Yep, that's me, the living proof that you are completely useless. Listen pile of scrap, I got stuck in one of your little elevators so could you kindly move your ass from your seat and call a support team.

Angela: You can die for all I care Hava, my patience is running out.

Hava: Ooooooh, how mean of you~ What do you think your DEAR Y/N would say if he could hear you right now?

Angela: Threats will not convince me to help you Hava.

Hava: Is it really a threat when it really happened?

She widened her grin and then turned the phone towards me. I stepped closer and grabbed it from her hand.

Hava: Say hi to the supposedly "perfect" AI Y/N.

Y/N: Angela... that was quite... the show that you gave me.

Angela: Y/N? Why didn't she say that you were-

Hava: To prove him that you're indeed a monster, I bet you weren't expecting that big tiddy android!

Angela: You-

???: Was that Y/N's voice?

Footsteps reached for the phone and then the voice of a Sephirah came out of the phone that I was holding.

Hod: Y/N? How are you?

Y/N: Meh, stuck in an elevator right now.

Intercom: Energy quota successfully reached, end of the first shift.

Hava: Care to send us some people?

Hod: S-Sure, who are you?

Hava: The trickster of this facility, Hava itself.

Hod: Oh... it's you.

Her mood dropped when she said those words. I turned around and looked at Hava, wondering why she would drop her usually happy attitude at the mention of her name.

Hava: Don't mind her, she's just jealous because I gained the final prize more often than anyone else... with the exception of Alter Ego.

Y/N: The final prize... Is it-

Hod: You don't need to know!

Her voice interrupted me and I distanced myself from our only way to communicate with the people outside the elevator.

Y/N: My ear is bleeding now...

Hava: Need some assistance with that?

Y/N: ...

???: I swear if you do anything to him, I'm gonna turn you into a bloody pulp!

Gebura's voice screamed loud enough for the both of us to hear her like she was standing in front of us. Hava simply laughed back at her anger and placed one of her arms around my neck, giving a wink at the camera observing us.

Hava: With what? Your rude attitude? Your roasts are as bad as your ability to stay calm.

Y/N: Hava... I don't think-

Gebura: Alright, that's it, I'm getting the both of you out of there myself.

I assumed that she left and I placed the phone back to it's place. Once done, I grabbed Hava's white suit and shook her around.

Y/N: The fuck were you doing?! You're not helping the situation!

Hava: ...That's what you think.

She simply answered that with her usual grin, causing me to sigh. I gave up and then sat on the floor of the elevator. Hava sat down too and we were now looking at each other in complete silence, her smiling at me while I was giving her a neutral gaze.

Y/N: Sooo, you gonna get destroyed the moment we get out of here.

Hava: It was worth it, I got to insult that pile of rotten metal.

She leaned back against the wall behind her and stared at the ceiling. Feeling like the conversation wasn't progressing, I simply remained silent and waited along with her.

Y/N: What's the final prize?

Hava: Hm?

Y/N: Don't play dumb, you know what she was talking about.

Hava: I do, I do know what she was referring to.

Y/N: Then-

Hava: Use your head ladykiller, you'll know the answer.

Y/N: ...No way, since when did I became a prize?

Hava: A long time ago, of course they remove your memories but each loop is different.

Y/N: ...Wait, so me and Alter Ego isn't real?

Hava: Nah, that's the OTP but sometimes, the both of you don't click together so you end up getting closer to someone else and when that happens, trust me that it gets really dangerous.

Y/N: ...Then the both of us-

Hava: Yep, it happened too, don't think too hard about it.

Y/N: I feel like I'm gonna have a headache.

Hava: You won't have to worry too much about it, we're getting close to the 50th day, where everything reset.

Y/N: What if I don't want to go back?

Hava: You tried many times, I helped you many times and look where we are right now, still here but hey, at least your lover is also in that loop.

Y/N: What's the point if I don't even get to be with her most of the time?

Hava: ...Life isn't fair Y/N, it never is and many people can attest to that.

Y/N: ...

Soon the elevator started moving and the doors opened, allowing a furious Gebura to enter. She violently grabbed Hava and raised her above the ground, the girl who simply gave the woman in red a powerful grin.

Hava: Gonna rough me up in front of Y/N, how bold of you~

Gebura: ...

She looked at me.

Gebura: Wait for me at the cafeteria.

Y/N: ...

I stepped out of the elevator and went slowly to where I was ordered to go to.

(Nobody expect the Legacy inquisition!)
