"Please don't hate me." I said as soon as Mitch opened the door. "I don't think I have the capability to hate you." He replied as I walked past him. "Why are you here?" He asked me. "I need to talk to you." I replied. He looked at me, silently telling me to continue. "I don't care if we're friends, or dating, or married, or whatever. But I know that I need you by my side. I probably always will. So I need you to say that we're okay, or that we at least will be. That we'll always be best friends." I said, crying a little at the end. "Hey," He said, walking up to me and wiping my eyes. "Of course we'll always be friends. I'll always be by your side, you know that. I'll always love you, no matter what way I do. You're my best friend, my number one. That isn't changing.

That'll never change." He said to me, before kissing my cheek and hugging me. I wrapped my arms around him, resting my chin on his head. "Thank you." I said, smiling. He pulled away, looking up at me. "Of course." He said. "Anything for you." He said, smiling. I grabbed his hand. "Come on, let's go out." I said. "Where?" He asked me. "I don't know yet. Just somewhere with you." I replied. He smiled, before following me out the door. He started to walk towards the car, but I stopped. "No car. Let's walk. It's a beautiful day." I said. I tugged on his hand, pulling him into my side. We walked for a while, before we eventually wound up sitting at the edge of the lake, hand in hand.

"I think I might love you." He said. 'What?" I asked. "When you were ignoring me. I was thinking about it. And I realized that I might be in love with you." He repeated. "You better not be kidding around." I said. "I'm not. I really think that I might love you. I don't know what to do." He said, turning to look at me. I looked him in the eye, suddenly aware of how fearful they looked. I pulled him into a hug. "We're just a big mess, aren't we?" I asked him. He laughed quietly. "Yeah, we are." He replied.

"Well Mitch, either way, my youth is yours. I think it always has been."
