Mitch POV:

It was a few hours later that somebody was home. "Hey, Mitchie." My mom said. I sighed. "Hey, mom." I replied. She looked over at me with sympathy. "What's wrong, Mitch?" She asked me, her voice gentle. "Scott." I replied. "Scott?" She replied. "Well this is new. What happened between you two?" She asked me. "He told me... Something. He didn't like my reply, so he left, and now he's not answering me." I said. She walked over to me, sitting next to me and grabbing my hand. "I'm sure that you two will make it through this, Mitchie. I've seen you two go through everything together, I don't see that stopping now." She said calmly, brushing back my bangs.

"Yeah, but this is big. He said that it could potentially ruin our friendship. I think that he might've been right." I replied, resting my head on her shoulder. "What did he tell you?" She asked me. "He told me that he thinks he's in love with me." I replied. "And you're not?" My mom asked me. "No. I love him, just... Not like that." I said. "Well, I think that you both need each other even more than you think you do, or maybe you know. Either way, I know that you two will be okay." She said. I hugged her. "Thank you, mom. For everything." For putting me at ease.

Scott's POV:

I ran all the way home. I didn't even realize I was home until I was on the porch. I sighed, walking through the door. My sister looked up from her book and saw me. "Hey, Scottie. How'd it go?" She asked me. Yes, I already told her. And yes, I asked her what to do, and she convinced me to tell him. "He said no." I said. "I'm sorry." She replied. "He told me that he loved me, but not like that. The thing is, now that he knows, I'm not sure that we'll be able to move past this." I said, walking over and sitting next to her. "I'm sure you will. You two are practically inseparable." She said, pulling me into a hug. "I'm not so sure." I replied. "Well, I am. You two will be just fine." She told me. I smiled and looked at her. "Thanks for putting me at ease."
