Chapter 11 - Dinner Time with Girls

The arrival back home was informing. First was the revelation that Sans was likely being watched by a CreepyPasta, since he still got the effects despite no one being around to counter the curse. That thought alone was a little worrying to have. On a funnier note, though, Sans was practically a serial killer tracker. Huh. Who knew.

Then came Jeff and Smile Dog's news. That word spread of Sally's disappearance, Sans' protection of the three serial killers, and that now apparently a group of serial killers were gunning for Sans.

Jane. That was who she was. Jeff's rival in the serial killer world. They had a history together, and it was his fault she became a CreepyPasta in the first place, so now she was aiming for revenge. Which meant Sans might be caught up inside of it. Great.

Overall, a tense night. Jeff went over Jane's physical description, her weapon choice, and what to watch out for. And that Sans might be hunted down by a few more CreepyPasta if any of them find out the rumors are true. So Sans had to be careful in public now.

Fantastic.

He tried not to let himself dwell on it the next day. There was nothing extremely valuable he had at his house that was worth losing, so a break in wasn't too scary if no one was home. Jeff and Smile Dog were heading out to try and appear "on the run" still, so no one would think they were working with someone normal.

"You excited to meet everyone?" Sans asked Sally.

She nodded, a wide grin on her face. "Yup!"

"Heh." He rubbed her head again. "Glad to see."

Honestly, Sans was extremely excited too. He was starting to consider Sally as his little sister. Her personality was so outgoing people couldn't help but care about her. She was so precious! They'd love her. He was certain of it.

Sans could almost sense the excitement from within the house as he parked in Toriel's crowded driveway. And he could sense Sally's happiness, too. She was wearing a cute pink and blue dress, and even asked Sans to help do her hair. It took two hours because he never did any hair before (literally no experience), but now she had a ponytail and a blue bow in her hair. In her lap sat Charlie, bouncing from her eager legs.

"And we're here," Sans said, "Tell me if you're feeling uncomfortable or anything, kiddo, alright?"

"Okie!" She held out Charlie for him. "Charlie thinks I'll be fine!"

"That's good to hear," Sans said.

Sally clung to his hand as they walked up, keeping herself close to him. Hopefully she and Frisk will get along. Sure, he and Frisk never became the best of buds, thus the reason why they stayed at everyone else's houses except for his, but he knew they were a good ally when stuff happened. At least in this ending.

"Hello there Sans, it's good to see your smiling face again," Toriel said, beaming at him. She then crouched down to Sally's level. "Hello, I'm Miss Toriel. I'm his friend. What's your name, sweetie?"

She stared at Toriel for a moment. "... Sally."

"It's nice to meet you Sally!" Toriel said. "Come on in! I enjoy having new friends over."

Sans could hear a casual anime on in the living room, along with seeing a quick Alphys peak around the corner before disappearing just as fast. Undyne was quite more obvious, stumbling in her effort to look out and see Sally. Sally stared back at them with a curious expression.

The first greetings went about the same as it did with Toriel and Sally. Everyone introduced themselves, Sally introduced herself back. Papyrus was quick to try and make her comfortable with calling him whatever she liked. Sans made sure he texted ahead and told everyone to not ask about her old family, and especially for Papyrus not to ask about being called her Uncle.

Sans was very, very stern about that. Didn't tell them what happened to her, though, he just said her Uncle was a very bad man.

"Oh, Sally, why don't you introduce Charlie to them?" Sans asked.

"This is Charlie!" Sally said eagerly, holding up the bear. "He's my best friend. He plays with me all the time and makes sure I never get lonely. I like Charlie."

"Uh..." Undyne then leaned over to Alphys and whispered, softly, "Do I have to say hi to a stuffed bear?"

Yeah, things were going a little awkwardly. Not the best. Sans wasn't sure why at this point. Sally was a charming little girl, if she made all of those other CreepyPasta agree on leaving her alone and safe, then she should be able to get his caring friends to love her. Maybe it was a bit too soon. Everyone seemed to be trying at least.

"Why don't we have dinner?" Toriel asked, clapping her hands together. "I made a tater tot casserole and pie for dessert!"

"Hel - Heck yes!" Undyne said.

Sans should have remembered that kids only like Undyne because she was the "badass adult who doesn't mind cussing". Around Toriel, though, those traits are quickly thrown away in favor of replacement words.

They all helped set the table, and Sans made sure to do a quick check on Sally's bandage before grabbing her plate and filling it for her. And finally, he brought out a fruit punch from his pocket and placed it next to her empty cup.

One thing Sans learned straight away was that Sally loved fruit punch. Every meal, every drink, it always included fruit punch. After the first day, Sans went out and bought a lot of 24 packs of the juice boxes, and stored them away in various locations for emergency drinks. He brought a few here, too.

"Oh, no, Sans, you didn't have to bring her drink!" Toriel said quickly, quickly coming over. "I bought some more sugary drinks for this occasion. I have soda and lemonade in the fridge."

"I forgot until we were on the way there, but Sally only likes fruit punch," Sans explained, rubbing the back of his neck. "And I didn't want to make you go out and spend more money when you were making this whole event for us, so I figured I'd help a bit."

"I'll remember for next time, then," Toriel said.

Sally nervously pulled on Sans' sleeve causing him to lean in. "Hm?"

"Are you coming back here again?" She whispered.

"'Course, kiddo, they're my friends and Paps is my bro. I care about them." He paused. "And you can always come whenever you want too. They can be your friends too."

She blinked. "Okay." She then held up Charlie to him. "Charlie says thank you Sans!"

Sally might be uncomfortable with them still, judging by her uneasiness with them, and how she didn't interact with them as much as she did Sans. Maybe she was shy only around normal people who weren't with CreepyPasta?

The dinner seemed to go a little more smoothly. The trend for Sally seemed to be focusing on Sans and Sans alone. That made sense. He was the only one she really knew, causing her to tend to talk to him first or cling to his hand. It might take some time to get her and Frisk to play together.

"I'm sure you and Frisk will get along greatly!" Toriel offered softly, "They love to play fantasy exploring games, and they have a vivid imagination. And, of course, they did save monsterkind from the Underground, so they are very caring towards people."

Sally looked towards Sans. "I wanna play with Sans and Charlie!"

"Don't worry, I'll still play with ya," Sans said. But as he was saying that, his phone dinged, causing him to draw it up out of his pocket.

Smile Dog. A message from him. And judging by what happened last night, he should probably take it.

"Hey, I gotta go call someone," Sans said, pointing to the bathroom. "It's about the adoption and I want to make sure nothing wrong happened, sorta can't miss this... sorry again but -"

"Brother, no, it's fine!" Papyrus quickly waved him off. "We can entertain Sally while you take it! It's no problem!"

Sans thanked him profusely, before quickly moving out to let Smile Dog explain to him what the hell was going on back at home.

~~~~~~
"So..." Toriel motioned towards Charlie. "How long have you had Charlie."
Sally continued to quietly grab another spoonful of her food and ate it. Without bothering to answer the question, she looked at Toriel. "Why are you still talking to me?"
"What?" She asked.
"I'm here for Sans. Not for you guys." She put down her spoon, instead turning her hands to fully grab Charlie. "So we don't need to talk anymore. I just need a brother."
They, all caught off guard, didn't reply for a moment. Until Papyrus managed to muster up a response.
"Hey, I know you've had a rough time, but we want to become your friends and family too! You don't have to depend on just Sans." He said.
"Kid, you might want to calm down there, you're acting a bit..." Undyne couldn't seem to put her finger on a single word, falling back into silence.
"No, we can't both be his siblings," Sally said, glancing over at him. Her hands were now firmly gripping onto Charlie. "Sans can only make enough room for one of us. There's not enough room for two. So I'm going to push you out. So that way he'll stop talking to all of you and play with me instead."
Riiippppp
Sally, without breaking eye contact, tensed both of her hands and tore poor Charlie's head entirely off of his bear body. Her face didn't even flinch by destroying her love and joy. Instead, she simply tossed him across the table, causing the separate parts to land right in front of Papyrus. Stuffing started to seep out below him, almost imitating bleeding.
The little girl leaned her head back for a moment. She blinked, steadily, then loudly started to sob.
"SANS!" She cried out, switching so quickly from a static face to a blubbery sobbing one that it startled the group. She immediately pressed her hands against her face, crying so loud that there was no doubt Sans would be able to hear.
Of course, the concerned skeleton rushed into the room, only to see the scene before him. Papyrus, looking surprised, hands held up above a beheaded bear. Everyone else looking just as shocked. And of course, little pathetic Sally, who was crying and pointing towards her broken stuffed friend.
"M-Mr Papyrus a-asked me to see my toy, and, and -" She sniffed, quickly bouncing out of her seat to run towards Sans and hug him as she continued to cry and stutter. Once she reached him, she hugged him tightly. "And then he said it l-looked weird and, and -"
As she continued to blabber on, appearing as a sad and scared child, Sans snapped his head up to Papyrus. "Bro, what the heck? I told ya guys she really cared about Charlie and you fuc - freaking ripped his head off? I was barely gone for a few minutes!"
"I - I didn't -" Papyrus looked down in shock, still processing the turn Sally just pulled on them.
Sans didn't give him a chance, quickly grabbing Sally's hand and rushing over to the bear. He picked up the parts and shoved them into his pocket, making sure to soothingly rub Sally's back. "I know Undyne's popular with kids because she shows off her strength but don't freaking do it to her friend! I gotta leave to get him fixed up now! Thanks for the dinner guys, promise I'll do the dishes next time!"
He quickly shouted out the last part over Sally's sobbing as he rushed them out of the door to fix up the bear. During that time, he never noticed how Sally glanced over her shoulder and grinned at them, and even waved them goodbye before the front door shut.
