↝ backstory

ELISE AMELIA STEVENS was brought to the world on the 6th of April on 1985, an adorable bundle of joy to May and Walden Stevens, who were instantly fond of their first child. In fact, they could have sworn Elise was the cutest, sweetest baby in Phoenix. Whilst that was debatable, it was true that the couple loved their daughter dearly and made sure to grow her into a kind, caring woman. Both of those goals came true, as Elise did quickly become friendly and gentle, but quiet and shy. It was hard for her to make friends, so instead, the girl preferred staying indoors with comic books or her father's large headphones resting heavily on her small ears. She was an introvert since the beginning, to say the least.

But it was the struggles she had at school that caused her to turn into an anxious, nervous mess of awkwardness. From boys that loved to tease her for being such a "nerd" to the stereotypical mean girls, the people at school forced Elise to be afraid to express herself. To some, school was a place to meet friends and learn new, but to Ellie, it was hell, a place she couldn't wait to get away from. Luckily, Elise had Emma — her sister, two years younger than Elise — who tried her best to protect her big sister and scare away the bullies. It was nice, but admittedly, Elise was a little embarrassed that her little sister needed to be the big one, but that was the outcome of being a nerd, whereas Emma was rather popular.

Still, despite being bullied and discriminated by most of the people in her life, Elise was somewhat happy with the life she had at home. That was, of course, until her parents got divorced and Walden was no longer the loving father that waited with open arms every time Elise got home from school. It was just Elise, Emma and their mother now — sure, they got to see their dad occasionally, and whenever they did, it was amazing. But mostly, Elise had to get used to the endless longing in her heart whenever she thought of Walden and how they had gotten more distant. However, even if her father wasn't around on a daily basis, he managed to have an impact on his daughter, as the comics they used to read together inspired Elise to put up a comic shop of her own. It started out as a dream, but she was determined to make it come true.

After high school, Elise got a boyfriend named Thomas, and for the first time, she had someone else than her family to rely on. She was happy, and she felt like maybe she was destined for more than the degrading title of a pitiful geek. The two dated for quite the while, but the relationship Elise had believed to be happy came to a sudden end when Thomas broke her heart by doing what everyone else had done as well — judged her, told her that she needed to grow up and get a life. He left her, but this time, Elise decided to stand up instead of falling apart.

Things may have ended terribly with Thomas, and it left eternal scars on her, but it motivated her to turn a new page in her life — no, start a whole new story. So, Elise moved from Phoenix to Los Angeles and finally made her dream come true, by starting her own business.

And suddenly, she finds herself as the proud owner of Comic Planet, her very own store, and she feels like this could be the beginning of something good. And she isn't wrong, because on the opening night of her shop, someone very special waltzes in, and even though neither of them know it yet, he's going to be the person who finally gives Elise the treatment she deserves.
