Dedicated to Potter-Gryffindor for his/her eagerness for Sirius' trial

Previously on Welcome Back

"Well, seeing as we have a few other witnesses, we will get back after lunch, court adjourned," Fudge said looking flustered

After a really quick lunch, everyone went back into court and settled down. Everyone was eager to see where this trial would go next as it seemed like a battle with Umbridge VS the Defendants.

After Harry went Hermione to recount what had happened on the evening when they had freed Sirius. Her story was the exact same as Harrys which frustrated Fudge a little but not a lot since he still hoped that he could have the jury vote against Sirius. After everyone gave their stories, Fudge then called Sirius up to the stand again and asked him to give his closing statement.

Sirius got up and then spoke to the jury

"Ladies and Gentleman of the jury, I would like to just say that you have seen the countless stories that support the fact that I am innocent. I have never and will never harm the people I love. Thank you"

As Sirius finished his speech the court erupted in applause. Fudge getting tired of training his mind to go against Sirius finally decided to think rationally. He knew that he felt after this that Sirius was innocent, but his stubborn nature wouldn't allow it. Fudge organized all of his thoughts together and finally came up with a personal verdict that Sirius was innocent.

"Jury, can we have your opinion?" Fudge asked the jury

Amelia Bones stood up and said "I think that Sirius is innocent. If Mr. and Mrs. Potter say that Sirius is innocent and that they switched their secret keepers then I see no reason to argue against them."

Amelia than sat down and Umbridge got up with a look on her face that resembled a toad

"I believe that Mr. Black is guilty," she said in a sickly sweet voice " Mr. and Mrs. Potter were not there to vouch for Mr. Black when he blew up a street and killed 13 muggles. He expects us to believe that Mr. Pettigrew is an unregistered animagus who's form just happened to conveniently be a rat that happened to live with Mr. Weasley for 12 years? It sounds preposterous" after saying that Umbridge started to sit down when Fudge told her

"Delores, You really believe that Mr. Black is guilty even when we have had numerous stories that lead us to the belief of his innocence?"

"I just think that we should wait a bit longer and verify all the facts minister" Umbridge replied with a haughty look

"I HAVE DONE MY WAITING, 12 YEARS OF IT, IN AZKABAN" Sirius yelled surprising everyone and making everyone in the court shudder involuntarily.

"Mr. Black calm yourself" Fudge warned Sirius as Umbridge meekly sat down.

Fudge then sighed and said "All against Mr. Black's innocence?" There were only a few hands up, consisting of Umbridge, Lucius and a few of his supporters.

"All for?" Fudge asked and he as well as numerous others raised their hands.

"Mr. Black the Ministry of Magic finds you innocent. As compensation, we will insert 4 million Galleons in your vault. Verdict passed" Fudge said and banged his gavel on the table.

Everyone cheered for Sirius, and James, Lily, Hermione, and Harry all ran up to him and hugged him. Sirius hugged back, tears of joy were falling on his face

"I'm free. I'm innocent" Sirius said wiping his face.

"Yes you are Padfoot," James said clapping his friend on the back

"Congratulations Sirius," Harry said as well as a few others.

After celebrating they all knew that they had to head home so they all apparated to Grimmauld Place.

When they all entered Grimmauld Place they saw that the house was in darkness. Sirius grabbed his wand cautiously while the others didn't bother because they knew why it was dark. Sirius entered the sitting room and then when he got through the door, the lights turned on and there was a banner with the words "Congratulations Sirius" written on it.

"Congrats Sirius" People yelled emerging from their hiding places. Everyone ran towards Sirius and congratulated him in many different ways.

Remus stepped forward to face Sirius and said: "You are a free man know, what havoc are you going to cause?"

Sirius grinned and said "No one will know what hit them. So you really did throw me a surprise party"

"Yea, It was Harry's idea and I had a little help, but yea. You're really this headed you know. Not taking the hint I gave you this morning" Remus told Sirius with a chuckle

"Sod off," Sirius said but was grateful all the same. Just then Remus leads everyone into the kitchen where the table was filled with large portions of all kind of food.

"I didn't know you could cook this well Moony," Sirius remarked which earned him a wack on the head by Remus

Everyone laughed and they all ate and drank until late at night when Lily urged everyone to sleep.

"We have to start cleaning tomorrow. The order meeting is in a few days" Lily told them. Everyone laughed knowing that only Lily would be focusing on the important stuff right now. They all relented however and headed off to bed where for the first time in a week, Harry didn't have any nightmares.
