The rest of the afternoon was then spent talking about their teams and matches.

After a while, it was time for dinner and Lily had prepared lasagna for everyone

"How do you make this so fast?" James asked in wonder while Lily just smirked. After eating they talked about James, Sirius, Lily, and Remus' time at Hogwarts to which long stories were told.

All in all, everyone felt like it was a good day.

The next few days went by so quickly. They were all spent preparing Sirius for his trial. From what questions Sirius could be asked to what he should wear to the trial. Everything was prepared for 2 days before the trial. The trial was set for 3:00 pm in the afternoon of a Saturday.

On Saturday everyone was awake super early, even Sirius. Sirius was so nervous for the trial that he kept shaking all morning.

"Sirius chill, everything is going to be fine" Harry comforted him after Sirius had dropped another mug from his hands shaking so much.

"What if it doesn't Harry, what if they find me guilty?" Sirius asked tears forming in his eyes.

James and Remus saw what was going on and walked over to Sirius

"Mate, they are not, how can they?" Remus assured him

"What if they do?" Sirius asked with a tear falling from his eye

James and Harry both hugged Sirius and Harry said "they won't, but if they do. Remus will be standing outside of the court ready to break you out"

Sirius chuckled and said "Remus is useless right. Can't even testify for me"

Remus shook his head in mock disapproval and said "Sod off, I'm going to be busy throwing you a surprise party with the kids.

Sirius grinned and said, "Yea right."

Remus just rolled his eyes and hugged Sirius. After two minutes of staying like this, they saw Lily with a camera in her hands.

"Come here you," Sirius said shaking his head.

Lily walked over and gave Sirius a hug.
"You too guys!" Sirius yelled knowing that the kids were probably listening in.

All of the Weasleys and Hermione ran into the kitchen and joined in on the group hug while Lily's camera remained mid-air snapping pictures. After a couple of minutes, Lily broke the hug saying that they should have some breakfast.

For breakfast, Lily had made coffee with French toast for everyone. After breakfast, Harry helped his mother wash the dishes. The hours went by really quickly. Soon enough it was 1:45 pm and Lily sent all the people who were leaving, upstairs to shower and change.

Sirius came out after five minutes wearing a black suit and tie and James went in after. There were a total of 3 bathrooms in the house that were deemed safe so some people had to wait in line to shower.

After an hour everyone was ready and dressed. Lily was wearing a formal marronish dress. Hermione was wearing a white shirt with a black coat and skirt. James was wearing a white shirt with black jeans, and Harry was wearing a black shirt with blue jeans.

After complimenting each other they all got into a ministry approved car that Kingsley provided for them to get to the court.

The car ride passed in silence. When they got to the ministry they were met by Kingsley after their wands were checked. Kingsley escorted them to courtroom number 7, He took Sirius through another door but urged all the witnesses to go through the first door. Everyone complied but they all noticed the flash of terror that came on Sirius' face.

Once inside the court, the witnesses all sat down in their designated areas which happened to be together. Sirius sat down on the defendant's chair looking really nervous. Fudge and the jury came inside and everyone stood

"Sit please," Fudge said and they all sat down.

"Today we are here to ascertain Mr. Black's position with he who must not be named. Mr. Black, how do you plead?"

"Innocent" Sirius said his voice wavering

"I see," Fudge said, "Do you have any proof of your innocence?"

Sirius nodded and said "I would like to call up my first witness, James Fleamont Potter"

James stood up from his chair and walked towards the witnesses chair when Fudge said "very well"

"Mr. Potter, I will be asking you a series of questions under veritaserum," Fudge said and James nodded. A foreign man then walked up and placed two drops of veritaserum on James' tongue.

"Please state your name for the records," Fudge said

"James Fleamont Potter" James stated

"Who are you married too?" Fudge asked

"Lily Potter nee Evans" James answered,

"very well, can you please tell us who your secret keeper is?" Fudge asked James while everyone listened with bated breath

"Peter Pettigrew" James answered while everyone's eyes widened

"I'm sorry to interrupt, but how can Peter Pettigrew be your secret keeper when he was the one who died trailing Mr.Black here?" A woman said who was sitting in the jury decked out completely in pink

"I'm sorry... you are?" James asked her

"Delores Umbridge" Umbridge answered

"Your name is Umbitch?" James asked innocently while everyone stifled their chuckles

"Umbridge," Umbridge said correcting James haughtily

"I see, Well, Ms. Umbridge, Has it never occurred to you that Peter Pettigrew might be an unregistered animagus? That Peter Pettigrew might have tricked you all by pretending to trail Sirius when Sirius was actually trailing Peter?" James asked Umbridge daring her to retort

"Well... This may be so but what about the 13 muggles that Mr. Black killed?" Umbridge asked haughtily

"Well, don't you have enough sense to see that Peter killed those muggles and blamed it on Sirius?" James yelled at Umbridge and Umbridge flinched

"Mr. Potter, please calm yourself," Fudge said, but seeing that James wasn't calming himself down Fudge dismissed him and said "Your next witness, Mr. Black"

"Oh, right, My next witness is Lily Potter nee Evans" Sirius said nervously

Lily sat down on the witnesses chair and Fudge asked her the same questions as James after making her drink veritaserum.

After Lily was dismissed Sirius called for Harry. Harry sat down as well in the witnesses chair and after putting two drops of veritaserum on his tongue Fudge asked Harry

"Mr. Harry Potter, We have different questions for you regarding the scene that had happened during your third year at Hogwarts," Fudge told Harry after testing that the veritaserum was working

Harry nodded firmly and Fudge continued

"What do you say to the fact that Mr. Black attacked your best friend, twice?" Fudge asked Harry with a smirk on his face

"Peter Pettigrew was an unregistered animagus minister as we have told you before. His animagus form is a rat. He had been my best friends pet rat for 13 years or so. When my godfather so called attacked my friend he was merely trying to get to his rat." Harry informed Fudge

Fudge looked shocked but proceeded with the questioning

"Can you tell us what happened after your friend was dragged through the Whomping Willow as we understand it" Fudge said trying to find something that would prove Sirius guilty

Harry took a deep breath and then began explaining the whole story to the jury. He explained what they had found in the Shrieking Shack and what had happened after Sirius was taken into Hogwarts by Snape. He explained the whole thing and when he was done he noticed the jury was looking at him in amazement.

"Well, seeing as we have a few other witnesses, we will get back after lunch, court adjourned," Fudge said looking flustered
