06│FALLING APART

DOM AND TROY SANG TOGETHER  on a small room while Dom played the piano. As they sang their last note, Chad popped his head to see the couple smiling brightly at each other. Since - in his eyes -  the only problem with the team was Troy's absence on the basketball field, he decided that he had to bring Troy back to the real world; even it meant destroying Dom too.

"Do you always seen to surprise me." Troy said to Dom as she closed the book with the music notes on it.

Dom looked up to him with a shy smile. "I'm glad it happens. I'm not going to stop that any time now." Dom joked. Troy leant in, kissing her cheek.

"You are amazing. You know, right?" Troy joked.

Dom smiled nodding at him. "Oh, I do. I just really like when you remind it to me." Dom told him, smiling brightly at him. "My brother likes you. He was shocked and wanted to strangle you at first, but he eventually give him. And you already know how much my dad adores you when you both talk about basketball and sports." Dom remind him.

Troy smiled, at her as he took a seat next to her. Meeting the parents already? When does this happen?, Chad thought.  He watched as Dom played a small note while smiling at Troy. "Are you waiting for another surprise?" Dom asked Troy. Troy nodded at her. "Kelsi is not the only one who...composes. I write a few songs myself." Dom explained to him. "I will sing you the chorus." Dom told him, smiling at him.

Dom played the piano carefully. "And I don't know how it gets better than this. You take my hand and drag me head first. Fearless. And I don't know why but with you I'd dance in a storm in my best dress fearless." Dom sang the chorus. Chad nodded, approving at her singing. He had never heard her sing before.

Chad turned around, deciding to leave when he came with Jason. He screamed, shocked at the person next to him. He pulled Jason to the closest corner just when Dom and Troy opened the door and poked their head out of it. "It must have been some freshmen. Doesn't matter." Troy said, motioning for Dom to go back to the door. Troy followed Dom inside the room, not without doing a double check on the hall. When the door closed, Chad turned to Jason.

"Not cool man. Not cool." Chad murmured. "We got to start our plan today. And all I need is Troy's phone." Chad whispered to Jason before pulling him away from the room.

Dom picked up a few books on her locker before she left to go to her home. As she closed her door, she noticed the beeping sound coming from her bag. Dom picked up her phone, frowning to see a text from Troy.

"Meet me up after school outside the boy's dressing room. I got something important to tell you." Dom read quietly the text. She looked at it confused. Troy and her never met up outside the dressing rooms. It was always on the roof.

"Hey, why the frown?" Gabriella asked Dom, lacing arms with her.

"Troy wants to talk to me." Dom said to her.

"How was Sunday's diner?" The brunette asked the blonde.

"It was nice. My family is really found of him."

"Guys, if you don't know that I will put a 110% of my guts into that game, then you don't know me." Troy told them.

"But we just thought..." Chad started, but cut him off.

"I will tell you what I thought. I thought that you were my friends. Win together, loose together. Dom is more a friend that any of you will be." Troy told them.

"But what about the singing?" Chad asked him, knowing Dom was behind him.

Troy sighed, tired of being asked questions by his team. "I don't care. She is just some girl I felt bad for because she didn't got to audition by herself. I have always been for the team. She is just someone I met. She is just a friend. All right, the singing thing is nothing. A way to keep my nerves down. It means nothing to me. You are my guys and this is our team. Dom is not important. I promise I will forget about the audition and about her. I wouldn't get distracted anymore." Troy told them, even if it was almost a lie. He did not know that Dom was right behind him listening to every word he said. "Then I will get out there and win that championship. Everyone happy now?" Troy asked the team, annoyed by their behavior.

"Not at all you jerk." Dom told, hiding her tears that were threatening to fall. Troy turned around to see her face. "You idiotic jerk. Asshole." Dom said as he punched his shoulder and ribs.

"Dom? Dom, I..." Troy started but Dom ignored him. She took a few steps away from him. "Hey, I'm sorry.....I didn't meant...." Troy tried to continue but he was lost of words. Jason looked down at the floor as they watched the couple fall apart.

Dom glared with fury at him. "Save it, Bolton." She snapped at him.

"Please, Dom..." Troy started again, but Dom cut him off.

"Meant it? Because it seemed to me that you were." Continued, glaring at him. "Unbelievable. I fell for you just like some stupid cheerleader. Is that what you really wanted? Me, being one of your pathetic little fans that drool every time you walk back? Well, I'm not and will never be one." Dom yelled at him, punching him again on the stomach. "I trusted you." She said in a low voice.

Troy held his stomach as he watched Dom slowly walk away. "Wait, but what about the final callbacks?" He asked her, his voice cracking a little bit.

"They aren't happening." Dom said before ruining away.

Troy watched defeated as the door closed. He held back his frustrated tears as he punched the nearest locker. Chad approached him, putting a hand on his shoulder, which Troy pushed off. "It's okay man....You are better without her." Chad said, looking at the defeated Troy.

Troy shook his head. "In that you are wrong." Troy said before walking away from the team.

"I hate this plan." Jason murmured as he watch Troy's steps go away.

Weeks passed and the two never spoke. Mrs.Bolton noticed Troy's drop of confidence and smile quickly. She asked him what happened, and he would not replied. Chad and the team noticed this too. The saw how Troy even started to loose some hoops as well. With each going day, Troy tried to fix things up with Dom; causing the team's guilt to grow everyday. They knew they were the cause behind it.

It was not better from Dom. Dom spend as twice in the dance room as she used to. It was a way for her to take her minds off things. As she practiced her old ballet skills, she tripped slightly when a memory of Troy flashed to her mind. Her body collied to the floor, causing her to hiss in pain.

The door opened widely reviling a running Moose. He helped her up as she took off her old ballet shoes. Moose saw the bruises and the small dots of blood in the shoe and on her foot. "I think you have to stop." Moose told Dom, who had tears in her eyes. It was not for the tears of pain in her foot. It was from her heart. "Come on, D. You got to think of something else. You can't let him get to you." Moose said to her as he helped her up.

"I trusted him." Dom murmured.

"I know. I know." Moose told her, putting an arm around her. "But all you got to do is let go. It will be easier that way." Moose told her before letting go of her. Dom smiled at him.

"Thanks." She whispered before wrapping her arms around her best friend and dance partner.

The following day, Dom arrived to school just to collide with hundreds of set of eyes looking at her. Whispering began as she walked inside of the school, followed by Sam. Sam had given her a ride to school this morning, and she was now thankful for it. Sam glared at the people who stared at Dom with disgust.

The blonde stopped in the middle of the hallways, confused at what the commotion was about. Sam sighed, raising his hand towards his mouth to use it as a megaphone. "Listen everyone, who here a problem with my best friend? Huh? What's all the whispering is about?" Sam yelled, causing Dom to flinch. Dom tried to stop Sam from talking, but could not do it. "I want an answer now." Sam yelled louder.

"Why don't you ask your best friend to show you some moves? If she says no, she can always try it with me." A boy said a few steps from Dom. Dom looked at him in disgust as she draw her hand back to knock some sense into the boy, but Sam beat her to it.

Sam, who wasn't confrontational, pushed the boy to the lockers. He lifted him by the hem of his shirt and glared at him. "Don't you ever talk to my friend like that ever again." Sam said before shoving him again and letting him go. A few people stopped the whispering, not wanting to get on to Sam's nerves. "Anybody else?" Sam yelled. There were a few whispers and few feet moving away to let the two friend pass. Sam put a protective arm around Dom and pulled her their way towards their class. Gabriela sighed once she saw Dom.

"Dom, there are...." Gabriella started but Sam cut her off.

"Talking about her. I know." Sam said as he opened Dom's locker.

"Yeah, but do you know why? There is this video that was sent to everybody in school. It's about Dom dancing with some guy with black curls. They are dancing pretty close and people keep calling her horrible things. Specially since some cheerleader started a rumor of Dom dating Troy." Gabriella explained to the two.

"Do you have the video?" Dom asked her, curious at what video she was referring too.

Sam took out his phone and opened the email. Dom and Sam watched how Dom danced tango with Moose. Dom rolled her eyes at the video. "The blonde witch was there that day. Me and Moose were practicing out solo piece." Dom explained to them.

"How did you know?" Sam asked her.

"Sean's friend caught them outside the dance studio and they ran off. They must have had a camera." Dom replied.

"Well, on the positive side at least they know how good you dance." Sam pointed out. As if the demon was called, Sharpay walked towards them with a small phone in her hands. "Speak of the devil..." Sam started, and the two girls continue.

"And she should appear." Dom and Gabriella finished at the same time.

Sharpay smirked at Dom. "Oh, did you saw what I recorded. Ummm, it's a dance between two people, and one might have been on a relationship with our favorite Wildcat while this." Sharpay said, acting all innocently. The people around the hall crowed around Sharpay. "You cheated on Troy." She said to Dom.

Dom let out a sarcastic laugh. "I never cheated on him. And you know what, Sharpay? He is all yours. You can date the douche bag that is called Troy." Dom told Sharpay, not noticing Troy was near by. Troy looked down at the floor, knowing those words were true. "He will break your walls down and when he has the chance, will destroy you inside out." Dom added. Dom pointed at the phone Sharpay had in her hand. "And that video was for a dance competition. That was my dance partner and close friend." Dom said, putting emphasis on dance partner.

"You dance?" Sharpay scoffed.

"She does." Sam told Sharpay, looking down at her with a small glare.

"I do." Dom said to her proudly.

"Show it, then." Sharpay told her, narrowing her eyes at her.

"Alright." Dom told Sharpay. Dom handled her things to Gabriella while the motioned people to give her some space. "Bring some beat, Martha. I know you got some spirit in you." Dom told the fellow dancer. Martha nodded before starting to beat-box.

Dom showed her some moves of hip-hop, making everyone around her grew silent. As she finished her dance routine, she turned to Sharpay. "Can you dance ballet? Tango?" Sharpay asked her with a smug face.

Dom scoffed at her, shrugging at her. Dom raised her tones and did a small perfect twirl before turning to Sam. "Partner?" Dom asked him.

Sam nodded at her, passing his sweater to Gabriella. "Can he dance?" Somebody from the crown shouted, earning a few laughs.

Sam stayed quiet, putting his hands on Dom's waist. "Let's show them what we are made of." Sam whispered to Dom. Dom nodded at him. The two danced together, earning a few whistles along with Troy's and Ms.Darbus attention. The woman had approached quietly, wondering what was the commotion about.

Troy glared at Sam when he raised his hands on Dom's legs slightly. Sam quickly connected eyes with Troy and narrowed his face to Dom's face. "Troy is looking and is jealous. He looks really flustered. It's hilarious." Sam told his friend.

Dom held back a laugh as he twirled her around. "He shouldn't be jealous. He doesn't have the right to." Dom told Sam as she took a few steps away from him before he took her on his arms again. Sam held her as she threw her head back in a dramatic motion. Quickly Sam picked her up and they both bowed to each other. "Should we show her our dance? Their jaws will drop to the floor." Sam told her quietly.

Dom smirked at him. "No. I think we have shocked them enough." Dom told Sam as she smiled at Gabriella. Gabriella handed both friends their belonging as the crowd exploded in a loud cheer.

Sharpay stoup on the floor, glaring at the three of them. "What? Are you just going to walk away?" Sharpay asked her.

Dom looked at her over the shoulder. "Clearly, that's what I'm doing." Dom snapped at her.

Sharpay, not wanting to loose this fight, ran towards Dom and held on her arm. Dom pushed her off, glaring at her. "You can't just walk away from a fight. We all know that the reason behind yours and Troy's break up was due to that dance." Sharpay yelled at her, getting people's attention.

Dom stopped on her tracks, slowly turning around to face the other blonde. Troy was about to step up when Dom started to speak. "That was never the reason behind it. He was a jerk, and I was the one that broke up things with him. So, I hope you are happy Sharpay. You have the theater all by yourself. Wasn't that what you wanted? To be the idiotic pink star you always want to be? What do you want me to say? That you won? Well, if it makes you sleep at night. You did. You took advantage of poor Ms.Darbus, saying that it was all for the sake of the theater. Lies. All were lies." Dom yelled at her, causing some people to flinch. Dom took a rough step towards Sharpay, causing her to back away in shock.

Dom glared at her before leaving the hall with her two knights. What she did not know was the the drama teacher was listening every word she said.

Troy sat on a bench on the roof, sitting by himself. He needed to think for himself. He needed time to think how he could patch up things with Dom. "We had a team meeting." Chad told him. "It's a nice place you got here." Chad murmured, catching the site of a small photo that was next to Troy's feet. It happened to be taken on the first date of Dom and Troy.

"Oh, wonderful." Troy sarcastically said, putting his sandwich down.

Chad shared a look with Jason and Zeke "We had a team meeting about how we haven't been acting like a team. I mean us, not you." Chad said to him. "Look, about the singing thing..." Chad started but was cut off by Troy.

"I don't even want to talk about it." Troy told him, looking down at a white daisy that Dom had previously said that was pretty.

Chad sighed, looking down at Troy. "We just want you to know that we are going to be there. Cheering for you." Chad told him.

Troy looked up at them with confusion. "Huh?" He mumbled, thinking that what he heard was wrong.

"If singing is something you really wanna do, we should boost yo up, not tear you down." Zeke told him.

"Yeah, win or loose. We are team mates. Even if you turn out to be the worst singer in the world." Chad joked.

"Which we don't know because we haven't heard you sing." Zeke added.

Troy sighed, shaking his head. "Well, that is not going to happen. You are not going to hear me sing, guys. Dom wouldn't even talk to me. I messed up. I lost the girl I lover, and ruin my chances with getting her back. Specially now that the video of her dancing is going around." Troy told them.

"What video?" Chad asked Troy, sharing a look with his other two team mates. This was never part of their plant, but it was part of Sharpay's.

Troy noticed the surprised look on their team mates' face. "The video of her dancing with some guy. One of her dance team." Troy told him.

"I make this one today. They are fresh. You might want to try some before we tell you something." Zeke told Troy, handling him one of his sweets.

Troy looked at them confused. "What are you talking about?" Troy asked them.

"We planned everything. I stole your phone and texted Dom saying that you will be meeting her in the boy's locker room, which is when we were making you talk like that. We just thought that...with Dom out of the picture you will focus more." Chad told him.

"Turns out not. She for some reason is your spark. We were mistaken. She helps you focus. We destroyed both of you, just because we were being idiots. I'm really sorry." Zeke apologized.

"What you heard the other day, it was a lie. It was a very big lie when I said that you weren't important. Hell, you are very very important to me." Troy told Dom through the phone. "I'm actually surprised that you picked up the phone at all." Troy joked, but Dom did not respond.

"I just responded the call to tell you to stop calling me. Don't even talk to me during school nor outside school. I don't want to do anything with you Troy." Dom told Troy.

"Just listen. Please." Troy told her as he climbed up her balcony. When he arrived, he saw Dom writing on a small book. "Just...look out the window." He told her. Dom looked up to the balcony just to let out a terrified scream. Troy closed his phone, tapping the wooden doors with the small glass windows.

"Dom!" Sean yelled, running to her room. Dom knelt down, hoping her brother did not see him. "What's wrong? Are you okay?" Sean asked her, as she clenched her chest.

"I'm fine. I just...thought a really scary thing outside. I thought it was not a bird, but it was. I'm fine. Just go." Dom told him, pushing him out of the room. The blonde then raced to the wooden doors and opened them slightly. "Are you insane? You could have killed me. How did you got up here?" Dom asked him, glaring down at him.

"I had to talk to you." Troy told her.

"Well, I don't want to talk to you." Dom replied, closing the door. However, Troy stopped her.

He stood up, keeping his eyes on her. "Maybe because I don't want to be the basketball guy anymore. They can't handle it. That's not my problem, it's theirs." Troy said to her.

"That's not the greatest excuse." Dom told him quietly. "Those words hurt a lot." Dom added, looking down at the floor.

Troy sighed, looking at Dom with shyness. "This could be the start of something new. If feels so right to be here with you. And now, looking in your eyes, I feel in my heart the start of something new." Troy sang. "It's a pairs audition. Maybe you could sing with me. I don't have one." Troy told her, remembering how this all started when he volunteered to be her partner.

Dom sighed, letting a tear roll down her eyes. She hesitated for a second before letting out a small whisper. "Fine, but that does not mean that I will be back with you as soon as we start singing. You will have to wing my trust back." Dom told him, crossing her arms over her chest.

Troy sighed, taking a small rose from behind him. Dom rolled her eyes at him. "I can't believe you did that. It's too cliche." Dom stated before taking the rose from him. "But it's cute." Dom murmured, giving a small kiss on Troy's cheek.
