"why do you look so grumpy today?" minseok asked me when we were on our way to school.

i shrugged. "i just feel like it."

minseok nodded and decided not to question any further.

the truth is, the reason why i was in such a bad mood recently, was because it was the anniversary of my father's death. but i don't like to call it an anniversary because it sounds like a celebration when it's not. it's just a day of mourning. he simply died of heart failure suddenly.

and i didn't want to go to school.

we entered school and i silently put away my stuff without giving a single glance to anybody. i wasn't taking any shit today.

"gaeun!" i heard chanyeol call from across the hall. he ran to me and i tried my best to smile.

"hi."

"what's up? did minseok walk you to school?" he asked. "i would've but i had to come early since stupid ms. pastahead or something made me do test corrections." he pouted.

"what about me, mr. chanyeol?" Ms. Parstnead {A/N: IDEK WHAT THE NAME IS JUST BEAR WITH ME OK} stuck her head out of the classroom. "get to class soon, you two."

we nodded.

"minseok walked me. you don't need to worry i can walk alone anyways." i nodded.

"i just wanna accompany you!" chanyeol flashed me and grin.

"thanks." i said.

"i gotta go to class, see ya at lunch!" chanyeol said before bolting off. i smiled.

i took my time getting to class by walking the longest route to my room. i didn't really care today, the teacher liked me so i would probably be excused.

the bell had rung but i was still in the hallway. oops.

"miss, you should get to class." one of the hallway staff said.

i nodded and continued to make my way until i reached the room. i carefully went in and immediately all eyes went to me.

"miss gaeun, why are you late?" mr. kim asked.

"i don't know." was all i muttered before sitting in my seat.

"don't be late next time."

i nodded.

"oooooo gaeun's late!!" minseok teased.

i rolled my eyes and ignored him, putting my head on the desk. maybe i can get away with sleeping...

i sighed and let my eyes drift off to sleep. but i wish i hadn't, i dreamed of my dear father.

"dad!! where is dad???!!" 10-year old me screamed in the hospital. "mom? where is daddy?"

mom looked at my with heartbroken eyes. "your appa is gone."

"dad isn't gone..." i muttered. "he's not gone!!!"

"and i am too..." mom muttered soullessly. her figure started to disappear.

"MOMMY!!!" the ten-year old me screamed and lunged for her, but was only met my thin air and then the floor. "mom..."

"miss gaeun! why are you sleeping???"

my head bolted straight up from the nightmare. "i-i'm sorry sir-"

"and why are you crying?"

i touched my face and realized tears were streaming nonstop from them. i hurriedly wiped my eyes. "i must be going crazy mister. i'm so sorry-"

"do you need to go home?" he asked with concern.

"no. i am fine."

"alright. there's definitely something wrong though, so please come to me if you are having trouble." mr. kim walked away and i sighed in relief. he was one of the nicer teachers.

minseok looked at me in concern. "what's wrong?" he pouted. "you're being really weird, did something happen?"

i shook my head. "i said i'm fine."

"you obviously aren't!"

i sighed and ignored him.

lunchtime finally came but i didn't want to eat, so i went outside and wandered around in the fields. i found a good spot and sat down.
