Autism- What is it?
Usually, people will label someone's autism as "high-functioning" or "low-functioning."
This labeling of the autistic spectrum ignores the fact that it is a spectrum, and instead labels it like a magnet with two separate poles, which is far from the truth.
Here is a list of some of the most common symptoms of autism. Keep in mind that they each exist in their own spectrums.
•Language delays, communication difficulties, or lack of verbal communication.
•Repetitive behaviors.
•Sensory problems.
•Stimming (a repetitive action or behavior used by an autistic person to cope with sensory difficulties)
•Difficultly reading facial expressions and body language.
•A need for routine.
There's many other symptoms of autism, and there are many sites that provide this information. However, I recommend that you proceed this research with caution, as many sites use language that is offensive, misleading, and even downright hostile towards autistic people.
