● Part Twelve ●

POV Ochako Uraraka

Talking to Deku has been a real relief. But at the same time it unraveled a lot of new questions in my head. I don't think I have to explain what they were about. The way he blushed when I talked, and the way he talked back to me.. Could it be..?

No.

Of course not, Ochako. Get that out of your head. I shook my head with my eyes closed tightly and as I did that I entered my dormroom. Let it slip. Let it go. Don't think of something that won't happen anyway. Don't...

A few weeks later, none of us had seen or heard of any of the faces that were shown to us earlier. There were no reports from us, only from the news. More children had been kidnapped. And we hadn't been able to do anything about it yet.
All the pro-heroes involved had been working hard to find out all sorts of things about the organisation, but none of them had been able to find out where their base was, or what they used the children for.

We, as the involved students, had come together under the disguise of 'hanging out' a few times, to brainstorm about the issue. But even Deku eventually got stuck. No one had a clue.
I saw Deku talking to another guy I didn't know a few times too. I had seen the guy in the last meeting, but I didn't know him. I wondered what he and Deku talked about, but I supposed it was none of my business.

As time passed, we got older.
And older,
And older..

And no one found a clue. Not a single little piece of evidence that would lead us a little further in the investigation. But the kids kept disappearing. Not that many kids disappeared, though. But we had a vague idea of what they did to the kids, and the kids never returned. That drove us to really try hard to solve this. But no matter how hard we tried, we couldn't get any further.

About two years later, when all of us were around the age of nineteen, something happened. Someone came with a new piece of information. Todoroki. Every one of us was interested and even excited. The next meeting was arranged as quickly as possible and everyone was at least five minutes earlier than they normally would be.

"What would he have to say?", Deku asked a little nervously.

I bit my lip and looked at him.

"I have no idea, but it's something. We must be able to use it".

"Yeah, it's just like Aizawa said. Every little thing can make a huge difference, and can be of great use", Kirishima added.

"And I believe Todoroki wouldn't come up with something if it wasn't important enough anyway, ribbit", Asui stated.

Deku nodded in agreement slowly. I smiled at him, trying to comfort him. Almost immediately after that Aizawa and All might appeared, with Todoroki following them. Aizawa nodded to greet us and opened the door to the room where we would all meet. When everyone entered after the teachers and Todoroki, I noticed the other boy was also here again. I still wondered what he was doing here and where he was from.
This investigation was quite something, so he must have some good use here.

"Everyone, listen closely", Aizawa started when everyone had found a place to sit.
"Todoroki over here has some information we would all like to hear, in my opinion".

I leaned a little bit forward, unconsciously. As if I could follow everything he had to say better that way. Todoroki stepped forward to face the rest of us, and took a deep breath. Even he seemed to be tense.

"Yesterday, when I was in the mall, I saw someone who looked like one of the people on the pictures", he began.
"When he turned towards me, I was sure this was one of them. I didn't act, though. I waited to see what he would do".

He let his gaze slide over everyone before he continued, which made us all very impatient.

"Go on icy-hot. You're not making this any better", Bakugo growled from the back of the room. He looked very annoyed. Todoroki seemed to ignore it, but did continue.

"He bought a huge amount of food, so I concluded that they at least feed the kids they hold hostage, but I don't know for sure".
"I followed him out of the mall, trying to be as invisible as possible".

"Hagakure would have been helpful in that case", I heard Nejire whisper next to me. I had no idea she knew Hagakure and her skills, but she basically spoke my mind.

"He went into an alley, so I also followed him there. Then he turned around a corner, and when I arrived there, all I could see was a brick wall".

Everyone frowned, confused. Where did the guy go then? We all looked at Todoroki curiously, waiting for him to explain, but I don't think anyone was reliefed when he did.

"There was nothing there. As if the guy vanished into thin air".
