Pete awoke, tears were running down his cheeks and he was breathing abnormally fast. He threw a glance at the electronic clock on his night stand. 3:53 am. He started to sob when he felt around on the other side of the bed for his husband and nobody was there. Pete clutched his pillow to his chest and cried into it, his body started to tremble. His eye's started to adjust to the darkness and he saw that the bedroom door was opened just a hinge and light was faintly shining downstairs. "'Trick?" he called out softly, his voice cracking in the middle. Pete heard the shuffle of feet and then the door swung open, revealing Patrick standing there with a bottle of water in his hand. Patrick rushed over to his sobbing husband and sat on the bed next to him. Pete crawled into Patricks lap and let his head rest on Patricks chest, right by his head, he had to make sure the steady beating was still there. Patrick rested his chin on the top of Petes head and listened to him sharply inhale then exhale a bit hiccupy and repeat until he calmed a bit down.
"A nightmare?" Patrick asked his husband who was tracing the neckline of Patrick's shirt. Pete nodded and pulled at a stray thread, which was then pulled out. Patrick sighed, he ran his fingers through Pete's raven hair "what was it about?" Pete hiccuped and planted a soft kiss on the pale skin covering Patricks collarbone "a-at Andy's house, y-you shot y-yourself. R-right i-in the forehead," Pete kissed Patrick's temple, where in the dream he had shot himself "a-and w-we found you. F-fuck, it was s-so bad." Pete's fingers interlocked with Patrick's and he pressed a kiss onto Patricks wedding band. "Pete, I have not shot myself in the head nor will I ever do that, I am not suicidal and I have no intentions on ending my life" Patrick told his husband while looking him directly in the eyes. Pete nodded and squeezed Patrick's hand "promise?" Patrick smiled and kissed the older man. "Promise."
