Mingi's hand felt over the fur by his side, but his imp didn't return. Saddened, he let his head sink into his arm. She had every right to sleep in a spot she was more comfortable in, but Mingi adored her little frame tucked against his chest. She had grown so big now. Her horns matched her size. But she was still so tiny compared to him. He cherished her every touch, listened to the melody of her soul that was like Seonghwa's and yet distinctly her own.
Mingi was about to close his eyes and try to find some rest by himself when other steps neared him. A familiar hand took his and Mingi sat up at its tug, confused by what was going on.
Though he hadn't felt Yunho's touch in so long, the memories rushed right back to him now that they were reunited. Of so many times the kind human helped him. Of feeling safe in his arms.
His silence carried mischief, so Mingi was assured this wasn't an emergency. He stumbled to his feet, never realising when they started to feel different on his legs since he spent so much time in that cave. Yunho mumbled something to Hongjoong, and the sorcerer hummed back at him.
Mingi was so overjoyed to be together with everyone again. To discover the nuances of their personalities anew. In his time spent in the abyss of his grief, he forgot how happy they made him.
"Here, sit down," Yunho guided him and Mingi didn't hesitate. A soft blanket met him, spread over the forest ground. They must be further away from the camp now because Mingi couldn't hear Mulberry's snoring and the two kids' singing souls anymore.
Before he had to ask, Yunho joined his side, never lifting away the soothing touch of his hand. Mingi gingerly caressed over it, so glad to know everyone was in one piece.
"Morana told me you couldn't sleep?" Yunho whispered to him as he traced his palm up Mingi's thigh. The demon twitched, starved of all touch for so long. Yunho's fingertips felt dulled through his thick skin and Mingi was sure it hadn't been that way in the past.
Unwilling to let that come between the calmness Yunho granted him, Mingi unwound and didn't dwell on it.
"She's so lovely, isn't she? She grew up so well..." How sweet of her to get Yunho after she had pushed them apart all day. Though she was suspicious of Yunho's fingers guiding him, she realised they had a close bond her father felt comfortable with.
Mingi wanted to cry, since she was so adorable. The greatest gift Seonghwa could bestow on him.
Mingi might never let go of his regret to leave her.
"You must be proud of her. She is such a strong girl."
Somehow, Yunho always knew what to say to assure Mingi. Falling into his care, Mingi brushed his worries off for tonight.
"I am. Aodhán, too. You are a good father to him." The boy was nervous, but he had livened up in the safe surroundings of the group. Mingi felt the world could heal whenever his voice trickled on his ears.
Yunho agreed with a pleased hum. His hand trailed up Mingi's chest to push against his shoulder gently and Mingi fell onto the blanket to sprawl out. Since he had worn only the tattered rags of his old clothing when they found him, Yeosang wove him new garments from leaves and the fabric of Wooyoung's coat he readily gave up to make Hongjoong keep him warm instead. Still, Yunho's fingers tangled in the thick, coiling fur across Mingi's shoulders. He didn't flinch back, but Mingi found himself most peculiar.
The human's body slotted between Mingi's thighs, resting against his body. So lively, the touch of another person. Mingi wasn't lonely anymore.
Playful fingers traced over his chest. Mingi's cheeks were warm since he liked their bodies pressed so close, and Yunho's taunting only made him squirm more.
"So, nightmares?"
Mingi let his heavy head fall against the blankets. Angled it so his horns wouldn't dig into the ground. In the cave, he never felt tired or rested. But after these few days of travel, he was more exhausted than in many years.
"So many haunts returned to me after you arrived. The stories, this place... I'm sorry," he winced.
Yunho leaned over Mingi's chest. His hot breath wet his skin when he kissed the demon's collar bone. Mingi shuddered, tugging him closer to trap him against his larger form. The fluttering feelings for Yunho never fully left. Every touch rejuvenated them.
"Don't be. You know I can help you calm down right away. If you would like me to." In the quietness of the night, Yunho's offer brought back so many hours of the past spent with soft caresses and warm embraces. Mingi yearned back to those days, never relished them as he should have. As his memories grew hazy, he blamed himself for taking that life for granted. For not treating every second as a gift.
He had many regrets, and now he knew he wasn't alone with them.
His fingers found Yunho's head, weaving into his soft hair.
"I do."
Yunho was enthusiastic in his response. His teeth scraped over Mingi's neck, leaving burning marks in their wake. The touch of his hand trailed over the demon's chest for an appreciative squeeze and continued to explore his broad body lower.
"Let's postpone going all the way until we are safe. This isn't the time or place to make you cry so prettily, our cherished Mingi," Yunho whispered as he sat back onto his knees, tracing Mingi's pants down his legs. Oddly, Mingi couldn't feel Yunho's touch at his feet, but he wasn't in pain either. Had his body changed so much?
Not leaving him without a touch to sense for too long, Yunho got comfortable between his legs. He caressed his fingers along Mingi's length, bringing life to it while his kisses dotted over his stomach and thighs.
Mingi tried to stifle his breathy whimpers behind his fingers. He was mortified at the idea the kids might see by accident and didn't want to disturb anyone's rest.
Yunho licked along his skin, ruining all effort when Mingi trembled on the blanket. The human's mouth was warm, though cooler than Mingi's temperature, making everything even more exhilarating. Compared to the thick of Mingi's lower horn, he always thought Yunho's head to be worrisomely small, but Yunho was keen. He wrapped his long fingers around the hard flesh and the pleasure cleared out the lingering fear in Mingi's mind.
Yunho mouthed kisses over his tip, licking down his entire arousal. As Mingi forced himself to stay still so Yunho wouldn't get hurt, the sparks inside his body were lively how they hadn't been in a long time. They crackled through him like embers, ready to catch fire.
"You have become so magnificent looking in that cave. So big and strong. I never knew some demons matured beyond your prior look." Yunho whispered against him, so obsessed with Mingi's body. He worshipped the size of him until Mingi got shy and wanted to hide away in a hole somewhere.
The comment affirmed his prior suspicions.
"I-I changed?"
"Hm," Yunho breathed, reaching an arm around Mingi.
"You have a tail now." A sudden tug, where Mingi never felt a tug before, startled him. As if his spine had grown longer, the sensation travelled along his limbs and made him shudder. Sensitive, he squirmed against the hold on him until Yunho chuckled against his leaking tip. "And you are so much bigger than I. Your horns grew along with you. And you sprouted fur and hooves."
Confused between pleasure and dread, Mingi couldn't believe his ears. Was that a survival reaction? Why did he change so much? He had heard of beastly demons before, used to carry heavy loads and weapons as mindless monsters for war. Had Mingi become one of them?
He wanted to reach for that tail and touch his hooves to understand how he had changed, but Yunho caught his fingers to press them down onto the ground. The wet cavern of his mouth engulfed Mingi, and the demon squirmed, helpless to the groan building in his throat. He was extremely sensitive, quivering at Yunho's every touch. Though he was patient and gradual with his approach, the flick of his tongue was near enough for Mingi to lose his mind.
Steady fingers held him as Yunho eased deeper, opening his jaw until it had to hurt to take Mingi in. It was impossible to gulp him down a human throat entirely, but Mingi's legs spasmed when he hit the back of his throat and Yunho gulped against his accumulated fluids. He eased back and forth, creating that silky friction that had Mingi's body throb with the quick pace of his pulse, eager to take the offer of burying in that heat.
Quivering, Mingi tried to gather his wits.
"I-I must look like a monster," he stuttered, digging his fingers into the blanket below him. The scent of his musk was thick in his nose, but Yunho seemed to like it. He inhaled it deeply when he pulled off to rest his jaw, distributing kisses down Mingi's length where he couldn't reach. His voice was raspy with his reply.
"Not at all. You are pretty, as always. Seonghwa would tell you the same."
Mingi hiccoughed. He couldn't take it. Not Yunho's caresses and the familiar sound or his voice, nor his praise. Everything was too much and Mingi was short of breath as Yunho clutched his fingers around him. At the base, he couldn't reach nearly all the way around. Hadn't he been able to grab the tip?
As if the same question posed in Yunho's mind, he ran his fingers along Mingi's shape once more. The lower part felt tenser, less sensitive to feeling, like a cramping muscle.
"You also have this thing here, but I don't know what to call it."
Terror washed over Mingi anew, battling with his desire. Was he sick? Did some parasite deform him? Was he repulsive, and Yunho just couldn't see in the dark?
"W-What is it?"
Grumbling, Yunho tried to figure it out himself. Touched the same heat, tested the instant reaction when he squeezed his hands around it and Mingi crumbled.
"No idea... Like a bulge? Honestly, the longer I look at it, the more it reminds me of Buddy when he goes around mounting every poor female dog in the area," he muttered and Mingi almost shoved him off in his panic to sit up and check on himself.
"I look like Buddy?!"
His cry drowned in Yunho clambering up his body to catch him in a kiss. He tasted of the demon and, though his kisses were soothing, Mingi trembled in fear of his own body.
"No, no, shh, I didn't mean it like that. Your shape is just a bit different, is all. You still feel good, yes?" Yunho made sure, pressing his hips into Mingi's to rub their middles together.
He was right. Mingi blinked the tears away as Yunho dragged alongside him and though the feeling was different near his base, he wasn't in pain.
Battling the overwhelming urge to bury in a warm body, Mingi was patient as Yunho undid his breeches to align them. His flesh was warm, hard against Mingi's as the human guided his hips into slow, grinding thrusts. Mingi adored feeling so close to him and his head dropped anew, unwinding from his stress.
"Yunho," he whined, and a chuckle responded to him. Yunho leaned over him, breath quickening with the pace of his hips.
"Are you close, Mingi?"
His sole reply came in the hands clutching to him. Mingi trembled and shook, unable to hold out against the rush of delight and pleasure gathering up in his stomach. He crumbled when Yunho kissed his horn, bucking his length against Mingi's.
Wetness erupted from him in thick spurts. It coated over his stomach and Yunho scrambled down his body anew, catching the last drops with his mouth. His fist was between his legs, moving erratically against Mingi's thigh. As his tongue lapped through the mess Mingi made, the demon reached for him with trembling fingers.
Yunho groaned low in his throat. His body sunk against Mingi's lap as he panted harshly, resting his head on his thigh until both of them found back to reality. Mingi caressed his soft hair carefully, conveying his gratitude and affection.
How long had it been since his hearts beat with so much adoration? Since he felt life was worth living?
Swept away in his euphoria and the memories of a beautiful past, Mingi dared a brittle smile. He was confused about everything going on with his body and his mind, but Yunho always kept his promises. Finally, Mingi was at rest.
"I missed you, Yunho."
Mingi could hear his proud grin. The human came up by his side, falling into the arm Mingi opened for him. He pressed a kiss to the demon's cheek and their bodies pressed close to share this feeling. Warm breaths grazed each other's skin.
"Hmm, I missed you too. I was so worried about you when you left. Thank you for making it out alive," Yunho whispered back and his arm slung over Mingi's waist, holding him even when Yunho was the smaller of the two.
No longer lonely, Mingi ducked into his fluffy head of hair.
"S-Sorry for running away. For leaving everyone behind," he whimpered, but he was assured once more.
"Shh, it's fine. Be there for Morana now. You are eternal, remember? Catch up slowly. She missed you lots."
"I will," Mingi promised and Yunho stretched to kiss him again before they finally calmed down for the night, intertwined with each other.
