WEEP
I rushed down the hallway, not daring to look over my shoulder. I had to get out of here, and fast. The laugh kept sounding behind me, inching closer as I bolted down the hall. I couldn't outrun a ghost.
It was a fact. And I knew it, holding on to the last of my breath. At this point, I was wheezing. I sucked up some more air and continued running.
Suddenly, everything went black. I had tripped over the edge of the torn and velvety carpet.
A chill soon rushed over me, and the laughing grew louder. I kept my face buried in the carpet.
If she thinks I'm dead, she won't want me.
"Why are you hiding?" Inquired a female voice, as the message echoed through the hallways.
I gave in, and rolled over into my back facing her. I screamed. Like, I let out all of my breath.
Her eyes were like black holes, seeing into your very soul. There were crimson stains around her mouth, where razor sharp teeth were stored. She let out a Cheshire-Cat smile. I observed she was wearing a white, ripped, torn, and tattered dress. That too was stained with blood. Trust me, it was very alarming.
She began to cry. "No one wants me..."
I looked behind me self consciously. Looking back at her, I noticed that she had moved one of her "hands" behind her back. She asked me why I was breathing heavy. I wasn't.
"I just want a friend..." She stood up, or floated to her full height. She was so tall, I was intimidated. Her black eye slots burned into my emerald-green eyes, which dilated at the sight of her.
She screamed, and her mouth grew as wide as her entire body. It was so loud, I felt like the insides of my ears had exploded. I was knocked down again.
Make it stop, please make it stop...
My head was genuinely pounding at this point. My legs felt like useless hunks of bone with no muscle to hold them up.
She brought her hand out from behind her back. She was holding a knife, the tip stained a unsettling shade of crimson.
I wanted to get up and make a dash. I tried to lift myself up, but it felt like the weight of the world was holding me down. I waited. Waited to die.
After a few minutes of listening to her taunting laugh, I got annoyed.
"Are you going to kill me or not?!?!?" I spat, and the words tumbled out of my mouth faster than a roller coaster without brakes.
"Humans" she mumbled, as a frown spread across her face.
"What about us?" I challenged.
Her expression turned blank.
"You were a human once!"
"It's just, they are so much smarter once their dead. When they are alive, they fear what they do not understand."
She waited a few seconds before adding "You could join us, you know."
"I don't want to."
She screamed again, and I think it was a little louder this time. I felt like I was going to either explode, or pass out.
The weight lifted off of me, so I used this chance to get up. I had to hold onto the wainscoting to stop myself from falling down.
As soon as I turned around, I felt a searing pain in the middle of my back. I quickly turned around, and the weeping apparition was the last thing I saw before I blacked out.
