Coffee Shop
At the start of 2019 there was a coffee shop the opened at the end of the block. It was E66, the far corner of of the 37th. I walked passed it several times before my curiosity got the best of me and I walked inside.
The brick building was decorated in pleasant red and gold giving it the appearance similar to that of a medieval castle. The tables were made of waxed red would that seemed to shine. I walked up to the counter, the barista was a male with shoulder lank blond hair.
"Hello there," I said "I would like..."
The male raised his hand and I feel quite. "I know exactly what you need" he went and made a cup of coffee and handed it to me along with a small piece of paper.
I took it and started to fish in my pocket for money. The man shook his head. "There's no need to pay now."
"Thank you" I said and thought nothing of it as I started to make my way to class. I hated this class, but I needed it to graduate. While I was there I had desired to look at the paper as I thought reading a coupon would be more fun then listening to the teacher. I unfolded the paper and nearly did a double take, it wasn't a coupon at all.
There's a pop quiz. ACCBADCDB
I blinked and looked around the room. "Now class, I would like everyone to put away their notes we're having a pop quiz."
I put my notebook away as the test was passed out. I looked at the paper, I could hardly understand any of it, so I would just be guessing anyway so I circled the answers from the notw I had gotten at the coffee shop.
A week later i found out I was the only one that passed that pop quiz.
I had no idea how some random coffee maker knew the answers to my test, so I went back to ask. The same person was working there, and just like last time it was empty. "Hey had did you...?" I started to ask before I was silenced.
"There is no need to worry" he said as he started making my coffee. "You passed did you not?"
"Well I did..." I started.
"Then you have no reason to worry" he said handing me the coffee and another piece of paper.
"Should I open this now or later?" I asked sipping the coffee.
"I think in five minutes it will be very useful" He gave me a smile.
I waved goodbye and started making my way to class, halfway threw the walk I opened the note
I recommend to bring some food, not for you
I shrugged and bought a package of cookies from the vending machine before walking into class. I sat down in my normal seat and looked to the girl next to me. She was frantically searching threw her bag "Where did it go? where is it?" she asked herself.
"Hey are you alright?" I asked taking out my notebook.
"Yeah, I'm fine" she said.
"Do you want cookies?" I slid the package of cookies to her.
She looked at the cookies then up at me, a smile softly spreading across her face. "Thank you" she said as she sat down and ate.
"It's nothing" I said with a smile and shifted to pay attention to the teacher.
I went to that coffee shop every week for the rest of the semester. Sometimes it was empty and other times the tables had people chatting or doing homework. While preparing for my midterms I would sit in near the window and review my notes. It was the night before my philosophy exam and I was resting in my normal seat my eyes almost closed.
The blond coffee guy walked up to me, "Melisa, how are you feeling?"
"Sleepy" I said, I never even bothered to ask how he knew my name, I didn't think it was important. Maybe he could just read my mind.
"Well take this" he handed me a cup of coffee and another folded paper. "I think this is important.
I took it and smiled and I packed up my things "Hey, what's your name?"
The man smiled "You can call me Jackson"
"Well thank you Jackson" I walked home and read the note.
This is your final message
