Catching the Chameleon

This is the next chapter! Here we meet Cammy (before she turns into a chameleon)! By the way, I put her down having 'split personality disorder' because that's what it said in the Villains Wiki. So please don't criticise me! I hope that you guys like it! 👍

In the 'Super Happy Fun Room', the asylum, back in the past ...

"Go fish!" A huge, meaty hand slammed a playing card down on a pile of other cards, with such force that it made the entire table quiver. The owner of the hand laughed very smugly.

"I win!" The aforementioned big man crowed in triumph, smirking at the other people around the table. Some of whom just rolled their eyes at his antics.

"Gus! We're not even playing that game, you silly goose!" a brown-haired man to the left of the black-haired giant scolded. "Pick up your card!"

Arthur Allen (Arty), who was sitting on Gus's right, sighed in irritation and turned to the man on HIS right.

"Remember! You said that we can work on our art projects after this!" the tattooed artist said pointedly. Jerry Robert Willis smirked, and gave a single nod, as a reply to Arty.

He surveyed his growing band with a sense of hidden glee. All here, except Sara ... who Jerry had recently sent off on a little secret mission.

Just a little more time, and I should have all the 'friends' I need. Arabia, please hang on, my little angel. Daddy will be out soon!

The orange-shirted man's thoughts about his little daughter were suddenly interrupted by a familiar blonde figure nervously walking past him. Jerry recognised her in an instant.

It's that girl from the therapy group they make me go to: the one in the straight jacket. Camilla, that was her name?

She's not wearing it now though ... and looks rather anxious to me. Miserable. Lonely.

Hmmm ... Maybe Camilla needs a new friend?

The serial killer chief smiled devilishly as he turned his full attention on the poor woman.

"Why, hello, my dear!" Jerry called charmingly, trying to sound as 'friendly' as possible. "Come! Join our little group!" he continued, beckoning her with a hand.

The blonde girl jumped a little, startled; and turned her head. Camilla flinched again as she saw who had addressed her.

Jerry Robert Willis had already gained a bit of a 'reputation' in the asylum, and not for good things! The young woman personally didn't want to associate with such a notorious person, but she was nervous about upsetting him.

"I don't think that I should", Camilla murmured shyly. "They wouldn't like it." Jerry raised an eyebrow at this.

"And who's they?" the orange-shirted man questioned. The young blonde woman seemed to cringe and retreat inward at the very inquiry.

"Shhhh. Don't let them hear you. I'll get in trouble", she said, glancing around; and putting a hand to her mouth. Then Camilla's face suddenly twitched.

A half manic—half angry expression crumpled it; instantly erasing all the anxiety. "Who cares! I'll xxxxxxxx!" the blonde girl abruptly hissed, snarling at Jerry and his group. Camilla then burst out laughing shrilly and insanely.

She said xxxxx!" the woman gasped, trying to cover her mouth ... before her face twitched again. The mania suddenly vanished, and the anxiety came back ... along with a look of shame.

"It's not like any of it matters anyhow", the blonde girl muttered under her breath, turning away from Jerry. A tear leaked slowly out of one of her eyes.

Camilla's sudden, snarling outburst had apparently unnerved almost everybody at Jerry's table! Including Arty ... and he wasn't scared by most things that would frighten people!

But the serial killer chief himself wasn't even unsettled. Far from it, in fact. Interesting ... it looks like split personality disorder to me. She's like a chameleon in a way ... and one that could potentially flourish in my little 'family'.

"That was brilliant!" the orange-shirted man remarked, clapping slowly. "We have our resident personality chameleon!"

Before Camilla could react to that, Jerry had quickly stood up and reached out towards her; his right arm wrapping itself around her shoulders.

We'll call you: Cammy!" the serial killer chief said, chuckling as he dragged the young woman over to his table. Obedient to Jerry's unspoken command, Gus pulled up an extra chair; and placed it between him and his boss.

"Sit down, Cammy! We'll need a new player soon." Feeling hemmed in, the newly-named blonde girl sat down reluctantly in the chair provided.

"But why?" she asked as Jerry then removed his arm from her shoulders. "You already have four." Ignoring Cammy's present question, the orange-shirted chap then leaned across the table in Gus's direction.

"Gus? It's time", Jerry Willis whispered, with a smile that promised trouble. Gus smirked and winked at his leader in response.

"On it, boss!" the big man replied, promptly. Arty cackled and rubbed his hands together with sadistic glee; sporting a huge toothy grin.

"Ooo, this is gonna be fun!" the killer artist muttered in excitement. "Watch this, Cammy!"

The aforementioned woman didn't know what the hell was going on, but Cammy felt that it would be best if she just kept quiet for the time being. Gus then suddenly fell over backwards to the ground, his chair hitting the floor with a big crash.

"I don't feel so good", the black-haired, big man groaned loudly, clutching his chest in seemingly great pain. Most of the staffers and other inmates around the Super Happy Fun Room glanced over at him.

"My insides are hurtin' something bad!" Confused but very concerned for the big man, Camilla started to rise to her feet ... but was stopped by a restraining hand on her arm from Jerry. He and Arty both gave the blonde girl a reassuring wink ... which just confused her more.

What are they doing? I don't understand.

One of the male asylum staffers on duty then walked cautiously over to the prone inmate on the ground.

"Come on, Gus", he said in a tired but wary voice. "Let's not go through this. If you throw your xxxxx again, I'm getting the hose!"

The aforementioned stocky man just continued groaning and twitching on the floor ... although one eye did open a tiny sliver of a crack. It observed the approaching staffer with cold deliberation.

Just as the other man stopped next to Gus, and bent down though ... The black-haired guy quickly jumped to his feet, scooping up the startled male asylum worker into his arms.

"Got ya!" Gus declared, chuckling darkly as he then gave the staffer a tight bear hug. A VERY tight bear hug indeed! The poor asylum worker struggled and gasped for breath, obviously terrified for his life.

"L-L-Let g-g-go. C-C-Can't b-b-breathe! Help!" he screamed. Cammy was most unsettled by the incident happening in front of her.

Jerry and Arty, on the other hand, were completely unperturbed by it. As a matter of fact, the two serial killers had shuffled their chairs around so that they had a better view of the drama.

"I'm king of the world!" the big, black-haired man bellowed, throwing the asylum worker aside and jumping onto a table. Kicking the checkers game off and ignoring the surrounding, frightened inmates, Gus pounded his chest ... just like a gorilla.

"Ain't nothing you got can stop m—" The stocky man's boast suddenly dissolved into a yell of pain as he suddenly was prodded in the back by a zapper stick.

"Get down, you xxxxxxxx! Here's 10,000 volts to calm your xxxxx down", growled a bearded, light brown-haired male staffer, who was holding the zapper stick. "Someone get the medic!" he added as the slightly singed, genuinely groaning Gus fell to the floor with a thump.

Jerry and Arty both watched with amusement as that bearded staffer and another one then walked forward and heaved up the half-conscious, black-haired man by his arms.

"You just bought yourself a month in the hole, ape man!" the bearded staffer muttered as they dragged Gus out of the Super Happy Fun Room. As he was hustled away though, Gus smirked and winked at Jerry.

The black-haired chap also momentarily showed his boss a key in his left hand. One that he'd sneaked from that male staffer earlier. Jerry Willis smirked back at his big colleague as he was whisked away, and gave Gus an approving thumbs up.

"You see, Cammy, we play all kinds of fun games around here", the orange-shirted man said airily as he turned back to look at the still worried blonde girl. The aforementioned woman gave him a little smile in return, starting to gain confidence in talking to Jerry.

"I used to play games when growing up with my little brother: Jed!" Cammy said, and then sighed. Sentimental memories suddenly filled her mind; about the brother she hadn't seen in YEARS ... not since she was sent to this 'pit of despair'.

The serial killer chief's eyes seem to brighten with interest at the mention of Cammy's close relative ... potentially outside the asylum. This might be useful ... I wonder if she still keeps in contact with him?

"Well, I can't wait to meet him, honey drop, and don't worry; we're just getting warmed up," Jerry purred at the young blonde woman. "Oh, and don't worry about Gus!"

The orange-shirted man inclined his head towards the closed door of the Super Happy Fun Room. "He'll be fine. All part of the plan, after all." Cammy frowned at Jerry's mysterious words.

"The plan?" she asked.

"You'll find out soon, sweetcheeks!" Arty remarked, grinning at the woman with all of his sharp teeth exposed.

Like an alligator would.
