PART 27 : Memories
At Toronto International Airport.
Randhir was waiting at terminal gate.
He smiled remembering their first meet.
*flashback*
6 months back in Delhi.
Shekhawat family were at Agrawal Niwas in Delhi.
They had come to see Sanyukta.
"Anju...bring Sanyukta down..." Kishore told Anju
Anju nodded.
A nervous and scared Sanyukta was waiting in her room.
"Sanyu...let's go down"
"Everyone is waiting for you" Anju said
"Maa..." she said
"Don't get nervous" "Shekhawat family is really nice"
"Trust me..." "Let's go down..." Anju said
Anju brought Sanyukta down.
"Here she is...my daughter Sanyukta" Kishore introduced Sanyukta to everyone.
Randhir turned his face to source of a melodious sound.
He turned and found a beautiful girl walking towards the living area.
Soon he realised the sound is of her anklet.
He looked at her from top to bottom.
His heart was not satisfied in one attempt.
He adore her again.
For some fraction of seconds, he was into some other world.
He was... He was lost.
"Namaste..." Sanyukta greeted everyone.
"Namaste..." Renuka said
Renuka and Sanyukta had some talks.
Randhir couldn't move his eyes off from Sanyukta all this while.
Harsh noticed it.
"Umm....Kishoreji...I think we should give some time to children to talk" Harsh suggested
"Yes...we should..."
"Sanyukta...please take Randhir with you to angaan (courtyard)" Kishore said
Sanyukta nodded.
Randhir followed Sanyukta to the courtyard.
There was silence between them as expected.
None of them were striking conversation.
They steal glances at each other.
Some more minutes passed but...still none of them talked.
"You want something?" finally Sanyukta killed the silence.
"No...I am fine" "Thanks" He said
"Okay..." she said
"So...aaa...Ummm I mean..."
"I mean...to say...is..." He fumbled
"Yes...." she said
"I mean you are born and raised up in India..." "Will it be easy for you to adjust in Canada?" He asked
"I will..."
"It may take some time...but it is not impossible"
"Life never offers comfort every time..."
"Life needs adjustments..." She said
"Hmmm..." He replied
"I want to ask you something..." She said
"Yeah, ask..." He said
"I am from Delhi"
"India...and you are from Canada" "There is vast difference between the environments we are raised up"
"The difference in cultures, beliefs and life style"
"The issue of compatibility is there" She said
He nodded.
*flashback ends*
Randhir smiled remembering their first meet.
He appreciated the way she let out her concern.
Yeah, they belong to different countries and raised in totally opposite environments and culture.
The issue of compatibility to raise was correct on her part.
Also, Sanyukta's simplicity had attracted Randhir.
Also, come on...she is beautiful.
He had to admit it.
He liked her too.
Soon the announcement of the flight was done.
Randhir headed towards Sanyukta.
He occupied his seat in flight.
The flight took off in sometime.
Randhir closed his eyes and was taken back into memories.
*flashback*
A week later.
On the day of their engagement.
Their families decided to get their children engaged in a private way.
Only few close relatives of the both parties were present.
The date of marriage was fixed after a month.
The marriage ceremony would be grand.
Shekhawats were leaving for Canada and will come back again in some days for marriage.
That's why engagement was done is such a hurry.
Clad in pink and white lehenga choli Anju brought Sanyukta to living area of their house.
Randhir was lost in Sanyukta.
He loved her simplicity.
But he loved how the pearl jewellery enhanced her beauty.
She was made to sit next to him on sofa.
They exchanged rings.
Some time later.
Randhir and Sanyukta were sent to terrace to spend some time.
Again there was silence between them.
"Our parents are happy" She spoke after long time.
"Hmmm..." he replied
"I believe whatever they do or decide...is always for their children's betterment" "What do you think?" She asked
"True..." He said
Again there was silence between them.
"Did you like Delhi?" She asked
"I haven't seen Delhi yet..." He said
"Ohh..." She exclaimed
"It's HOT but..."
"It is impossible to survive without an AC" He said
"Hmmm...." She said
"Glad I am going back to Canada tomorrow"
"Will get rid of terrible heat..." He said
Sanyukta's expression changed suddenly.
Yes, he will leave for Canada tomorrow.
They haven't spent much time together.
He will be gone tomorrow and next they will meet will be directly after one month for their wedding.
"When will you come?" She asked
"A week before..." He said
"Mom Dad will come early for doing arrangements"
"I cannot come soon...I have work and plus this terrific heat" He said
"Hmmm...." She replied
"I will be waiting for you... " she said
He passed a smile at her.
Later on.
"Okay Kishoreji...we will be leaving for tomorrow" "But will be back soon next month..." Harsh told Kishore.
"We will be waiting Harshji..." Kishore said
"Shaadi ki taiyaari shuru kar dijiye Kishoreji..." "Hum bohot jald aayenge baraat leke" Harsh said
"Intezaar rahega" Kishore said
Sanyukta looked at Randhir and found he was already looking at her.
They share a smile at each other.
"Randhir...let's get going..." Harsh said which broke their eyelock.
"Yes Dad..." He said
He turned to go.
Sanyukta was hoping he would look back at her.
But he didn't.
He sat in cab and it moved ahead.
Sanyukta turned and went inside.
Meanwhile Randhir peeped outside the window and looked back.
But he found only Kishore and Anju standing but not Sanyukta.
*flashback ends*
"Sir...would you like to have something" the air hostess asked.
Randhir opened his eyes with jolt.
"Ummm...NO..Thank you" He said
Randhir rested his head on the back cushion of the seat.
"I am sorry Sanyukta"
"I am really sorry for everything"
"But now I will make up for everything..."
"It's not like that Sanyukta I never wanted this marriage"
"It's just...I took everything casually" "I never understood the importance of marriage"
"I know I have hurt you very much but I will compensate for everything Sanyukta" Randhir said in his heart.
