THIRTY FIVE

Harry Styles

There was not a clear memory within my mind of a time when a girl took me to meet her parents. Don't get me wrong, there were girlfriends before Carrington came along though none of them seemed to be that serious. They were more so flings as the sex was the main reason I even associated myself with them and their intention was nothing more than that. My parents have met a girl before who seemed to be wanted to be with me for the right reasons before however that relationship went down the drain rather quickly.

At a young age I was taught to never truly let yourself fall for someone because you never know when they'll pack up and leave you.

Carrington was different, however.

Carrington was different not just in the way she was raised and carried herself throughout her life but also in the way she treated me and the people around her. She was someone who easily kept others on their toes with her personality, her honesty was genuinely refreshing and just her overall was someone I felt bloody lucky to be associated with.

So when she even brought up the fact that I should meet her parents, well, mother since her father worked in America, I was surprised. Obviously, I met her and Harrison beforehand when I had taken Carrington home but now we are officially together and I suppose it's not the same.

It was now Wednesday, which meant that I got back from Spain two days ago and considering that Eloise wasn't working today we scheduled the big meeting for this date. The travelling time was three hours from London to Manchester so I left mine at eight in the morning as I knew for a fact that I'll get in traffic on the way there.

Thankfully, I made it to the Hill house for twelve where I was warmly greeted by the two dogs they owned. Harrison let me in with a smile on his face and he looked a lot like Carrington.

"I'm sorry about my idiotic sister," Harrison sighed as we walked in the house and heard screaming from the kitchen. "She never listens to mum and she probably burned herself."

"Yeah, sounds like Carrington," I laughed softly while I kicked my boots off. They were my black ones and they went well with my full black outfit. Jeans and a shirt that had two birds exactly where my actual tattoos were on my chest.

"They're in the kitchen if you want to jump into something you might not be able to leave without a fight," he told me and sat down on the couch in front of the massive TV on the stand.

I nodded and walked to the mentioned room in the house. I was then faced with Eloise on the floor cleaning up whatever was spilled and Carrington with her shirt off, only in her bra. This left me a bit shocked and I could tell they weren't expecting me there either which I judged from their facial expressions.

"Hello," I laughed. Carrington's mum jumped to her feet and Carrington just sighed. She seemed like she was fed up and not bothered by the fact that her upper body was not entirely covered.

"Harry, dear, hi," Eloise spoke first as she threw the tea towel in the sink and washed her hands then dried them. She pulled me in a hug and I saw my girlfriend leave the scene. "How are you? Aw, is this for me? You are so bloody sweet!" she took the flowers from my hand that I moved towards her and she smiled.

"Hi, Eloise, yes they are for you and I'm doing well. How about you?" I asked her kindly while she put the flowers in a vase full of water. She then hurried me back to the living room where Harrison was.

"I'm amazing. Slightly frustrated and stressed, but fantastic," she chuckled. "I didn't think having a twenty one year old daughter and eighteen year old son could be so time consuming and messy."

"Oh come on mum," Harrison commented and I caught him rolling his eyes. That was total Carrington like. "Be happy we don't have Lesley at home anymore."

"Right, that's a good point," she sighed. "And your father. I don't think I could deal with them, too."

"When are they coming home to visit?" I asked randomly. Both of their heads turned towards me and it suddenly made me feel like my question was too personal.

"We might fly out to Los Angeles for my older son's birthday, he was born in August and we always celebrate together," she told me with a slight smile on her lips. She spoke a lot, which I noticed the first time around I was over but it stood out again. Eloise was kind of like my mother.

I smiled at the thought of them getting along.

Then this little moment was interrupted, when my phone went off and I got a text message.

Carrington: come upstairs please

Carrington: now

I grinned at the message and I felt Eloise's gaze burning into my face. I coughed a little before I spoke.

"Um, I'll check on Carrington, if that's okay," I said while I already stood up and was ready to leave the living room.

Eloise chuckled and nodded then disappeared into the kitchen as I walked towards the stairs. One of the dogs, I think his name was Leo, tagged along and barked with each step up. That made me laugh gently and I petted him once we reached the top.

With my right hand, I knocked on the familiar bedroom door and waited a few seconds before I opened it up and stepped in. My girlfriend was on her bed, her phone in her hand. Her legs were propped up and one of them was over her knee.

Carrington put the phone down and a sigh left her lips as she stretched her arms out towards me. I walked over to her and engulfed her in a weirdly positioned hug as I leaned down to her. Her signature Carrington scent filled my nose then my lungs and I smiled into her shoulder.

I missed her.

"Mhm, you smell so good," she sniffed me and I couldn't help but laugh. She was so adorable. "What do you have on?"

"Bleu de Chanel," I said as we pulled away from the embrace and she sat up properly. I sat sideways and she intertwined our fingers while her brown eyes sparkled as they looked at me.

"Sexy," she smirked and winked at me then moved onto my lap. Her legs hugged my waist around while her arms locked around my neck and we both fell back on her bed. She giggled in my ear and pushed herself up as she put her hands on my chest.

My chest was now full on showing as my shirt was not buttoned up fully and my necklace slid down to my neck. I was taken aback when I felt Carrington's lips against my chest, she slowly made her way up to my neck, then jawline, cheek and stopped in the corner of my mouth. My breathing got heavier and slower with each of her kiss and my eyes closed as my teeth sunk in my lower lip.

"You look hella good," she told me once she sat up properly again and I was sort of forced to open my eyes. She looked absolutely stunning as she straddled me, her hair in a messy ponytail while a massive t-shirt hugged her upper body, her bra strap showing a little on her right shoulder.

I had no clue how she managed to look good all the time yet she was the one showering me with compliments.

"I have to look good next to you," I told her and she rolled her eyes. It didn't even surprise or hurt me at all. It was her go to response and although others may have found it rude or annoying, I thought it was very Carrington. "We have to slay together, don't we?"

"I have never heard you say that word."

"You said that when I said lush and now you're back with it again," I laughed. "I think you take me as an old man who has no idea of today's slangs."

"Hmm, I do, don't I?" she said as she wondered. "You act like one sometimes, I can't help myself."

"So I act like an old man?" I asked her as I pulled one of my eyebrows up. She nodded and I shook my head disapprovingly. "There are ways in which I could show you that I'm not an old man, although it might be a bit inappropriate."

"Why would they be inappropriate, huh?"

"Considering we're in your home, where your family lives, where you probably grew up," I gave her reasons and she laughed. But, if she really thought that I was an old man then I was ready to show her what I had in stock. "But if you have nothing against me whipping my bad boy out then I shall proceed."

"Thank you for your kind offer, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to decline on that one," she told me as her voice tone suddenly changed to a more serious one, her eyes still hid some playfulness though.

"Your loss," I sighed dramatically. "By the way, you know how the movie premiere is next month?" I brought up a new topic.

"What movie premiere?" she asked me confusedly. Oh. So she didn't know? Or I might have just not mentioned it.

"For the movie I'm in," I said and then it seemed to hit her like a truck. Her eyes lit up and mouth opened a little. "Yeah, so it's next month, on the 13th and I was wondering if you'd like to be my plus one?"

"Yes, of course! What the hell? I've never been to a movie premiere or a premiere in general!" she said happily as she sat on her bed next to me and I turned on my side, my legs dangled down her bed. "What day is that?"

"If I remember correctly, it's a Thursday," I said. And as we suddenly started to talk about the movie I remembered all the promo that I had yet to do with the cast.

"Alright, that's cool," she nodded. "I'll book it off then so that the dance studio can get another teacher to cover me for that day. And possibly the next because I know for a fact I won't be arsed coming home that late."

"Look at you inviting yourself to mine for an extra night," I joked and she pushed me at my shoulder. "I don't mind though, you're always welcome," I told her which got her smiling.

"So then that one week where I heard nothing from you, you were doing promo and stuff?" Carrington asked me curiously, totally hitting the nail on the head. She was either a good guesser or she knew how these things worked.

Probably both.

"Yeah and I still have a bit left to do so after tomorrow I'm back in Los Angeles for a few days. I also have some interviews to do in London but those will be done in like a day."

"Wait, so, if I attend this premiere with you, that means we'll have to go public with our relationship," she said a bit more serious this time.

"Oh, shit, yeah," I mumbled as realisation hit me.

The thought of attending the premiere with my girlfriend was too blinding simply because of the fact that it was my first movie and I wanted her with me. I wanted her to be proud. Then the thoughts started to link together and I knew I wanted my mother by my side on the first premiere as well so that also meant that Carrington will be meeting her.

On the same day that we are supposedly making our relationship public. Isn't that fantastic?

"Oh, gosh, what is that face?" she asked me and she laughed a little.

"I just remembered that if you are coming with me, you are going to be meeting my mother on the same day. For the first time," I gulped which may have made me seem like I was nervous. Well, I was, but I was also excited for them to finally get to know each other.

"Is there any other way for me to meet her?" she questioned and the wheels in my brain started to spin like crazy. I wasn't going to be free for the rest of the month. And I'm only coming back two days before the premiere.

"No. I'm afraid that is the only chance we have right now. Unless one of you two can't make it," I joked.

"Will you only do a London premiere?" she asked.

"We're doing one a few days after in France, then one in New York. The premiere in New York will be mainly press so no meeting fans and stuff, the red carpet will be closed off too, and I doubt there's chance for me to take anyone. It's the London one where family and friends can come along to."

Carrington hummed in response and that's all I got for a few seconds. We heard knocking on her door which to she replied and Eloise appeared in the room. I sat up and turned towards her, my fingers ran through my hair and a smile homed on my lips.

"Harrison is ready and waiting downstairs to go. Are you two ready?" she asked, mainly looking at her daughter who was still wearing cosy clothes.

"Ugh, no," Carrington mumbled angrily and laid back on her pillows. "I suddenly don't want to go. You's met Harry already, why do we have to be extra and pretend you don't know him?" she asked her mother and I listened carefully.

Personally, I was excited to have this lunch with Eloise, Harrison and Carrington because I haven't had one normal outing in a while.

"Our family has always been extra like that I have no idea why you are complaining. Now please, let's not cause a scene in front of your boyfriend like that who I have yet to meet, alrighty?" I looked down as I held back my chuckle, licked my lips and lifted my gaze up at my girlfriend. "Get ready, you have five minutes."

As soon as the bedroom door closed, Carrington let out a loud groan and punched her fist against the mattress of her bed. My hand reached up to her thigh and squeezed it before I slapped it gently. She snapped her head to my direction and gave me the dirtiest look ever which made me laugh.

"Why is she making me do this?" she mumbled as she got up and walked over to her closet like a little baby. She was fuming, almost as if she was rebelling.

Yes.

That was the right word.

She was rebelling and it was the funniest thing ever.

My girlfriend kept making noises and mocking her mother as she looked through her clothes. She threw a pair of blue jeans on her bed with a huff as she let the palms of her hands slap the side of her thighs. After that, a strapless bra was thrown right in my lap that she didn't even realise and considering she was already in a pissed off mood, or so she seemed like so, I didn't say anything. I just moved it to the bed next to me as I would have done it with any other piece of clothing.

"Grey or black?" she asked me as she turned to me, with two different coloured shirts in her hand. Since I was wearing full black, I pointed at the grey one. Soon enough it landed in my lap.

After that she left the room and I was on my own. I had no idea what the hell's gotten into her, she suddenly shut me out although before I even said anything, she was back and in my arms.

Saying that I was confused was an understatement.

"Are you okay?" I asked her since she wasn't going to speak first. I knew that by now. She wasn't one to apologise first considering she was stubborn as hell. It took a lot for someone to crack her shell. "Hey, Carrie, what's up?" I laughed as I pushed her away from me.

My right hand cradled her face, my thumb caressed her cheek as she let a sigh out.

"I don't feel like going out and eating in a restaurant when we could order food in and watch TV while we eat and talk. Mum's being overly extra and, I don't know. I'm probably bringing your mood down," she said, her eyes never once met mine during it all.

I leaned forward and kissed her forehead which made her cuddle into my chest. Her arms hugged me around my middle and I hugged her back, my lips pressing soft kisses into her hair.

"How about we ask my mother if she wants to come along?" I asked suddenly. Holmes Chapel was only about an hour from where Carrington lived and since the first time they'd be meeting would be the premiere; this could work as a more appropriate set up.

"Would your mum really be up for that?" she pulled away as she chuckled lightly.

"My mum can be spontaneous and she's also an easy going person. I mention your name to her and she'll be saying yes in an instant," I said smiling.

"Alright, if that's what you want, then call her and ask her about it. But, you'll tell my mother about it."

"That's fine," I shrugged. "Your mum loves me so that won't be a problem."
