FIFTY SEVEN

Harry Styles

Taking naps during the day was essential if I had to work through the night or else I wouldn't have survived. Then again, if I would've had my girlfriend sending me pictures of herself out of boredom, maybe I could have coped.

Carrington: hi it me

Carrington: your girlfriend who's v v bored and misses u

Carrington: hmm i might post these cos i haven't posted in a while

Me: oh my godness

Me: i have to be the luckiest man on this planet

Me: also how the hell am i meant to pick one to set as my background

Me: or lockscreen

Carrington: oh hi

Carrington: well personally i would put the first one as the lockscreen

Carrington: and then the second one as the background cos don't want everyone looking at my silly face

Me: right okay sounds like a plan

Me: brb gotta do my duties

I saved all three pictures and set two of them the way she told me to. I needed to freshen it up a little bit anyway so the fact that she sent them to me, not only made waking up from that nap worth it, but it also gave me a push to get out of bed and actually get shit done so that time goes by faster. If time goes by faster, it means I will get to see her sooner and if I get to see her sooner, the better.

Missing someone you love and wish to cuddle every day, sucks ass and I bow down in front of anyone who's in a long-distance relationship. Because that shit is terrible. I can't even imagine what people go through who live in different countries or continents. Dealing with a two to three hour distance is bad enough.

Me: am back and now my phone is blessed

Me: my eyes will be blessed too whenever I look at my phone

Me: thanks baby

Carrington: anytime my love

Carrington: the plan is over btw am not doing the studio hunting anymore

Me: facetime?

Carrington: facetime

"So, what happened?" I asked without even saying hi when I accepted the facetime call. I rubbed my eye with the heel of my palm as I held my phone with my other hand.

"I sat down and talked to Alex yesterday after I spoke to Mia. He felt the same way, believe it or not, which obviously surprised me because he seemed so into it. Then we went to Scott with our situation and he said it's fine and that there is no need to rush things. He will always be available for us if we need him for anything which is good, I guess."

"That's great, I'm glad to hear that," I replied lowly and I coughed into my hand. The colder weather was kinda rubbing off on me which bothered me because I couldn't stand being ill. "What happens now then? Are you staying at the studio you are at now?"

"Yeah and to be honest, I'm glad that it turned out this way," she told me. Her long lashes caught my attention, her eyebrows seemed darker too which I noticed on the pictures she sent before. "I'm much more comfortable with staying there. I know everyone, my way around and I can always progress further there."

"Definitely. There is always a way around things. I'm glad it's all good, I told you everything will be fine."

"Well, you know how I stress over everything," she laughed. I stared at her in awe as my heart went mad over her. It was crazy how much I missed her. My mind went mental without her, my own thoughts drove me to insanity with all the concepts and images of her and I cuddling in bed, kissing or just spending time together in general. "You look so sleepy," she giggled and I swear to god if I wouldn't have known before, then in that moment I would have definitely realised I was whipped.

Truly, madly, deeply whipped.

"You are literally dozing off, babe," she said which made me shake my head and I licked my lips. "Have you just woken up or something?"

"Yeah, I had to take a nap," I replied. "I uh, I have a shoot tonight and also some other stuff that Caitlin is making me do."

"I swear to god if that woman is overworking you, I will whip her ass."

"I would love to see that, not gonna lie," I smiled, feeling out of the loop a little. Guess I needed some more rest but that was not an option unfortunately.

"By the way, my dad and brother are not going back to Cali until we leave for Christmas. Which is in a week, so, uh, the 11th and that's a Monday."

"Oh, okay," I rolled over and so now I was on my stomach, a pillow cuddled to my chest as I kept the phone in front of my face. "Well, I'd like to see you before you disappear to the other side of the world if that's possible?"

"Yes, I want to see you before too. I was thinking I could go to London this Friday, spend the weekend and then our flight is only at eight at night on Monday, so I'd be back in time," she told me. "That is if you are free this weekend and don't have anything to do."

"Let me get my calendar," I mumbled as I got off the bed and wandered over to my desk. I sat down on my spinney chair and flicked the book open. "Right, so, this Friday," I talked to myself as I flicked the pages to the date she was talking about. "Okay so 8th December, Friday I'm off. 9th December, Saturday, I have a meeting from eleven till one and the rest of the day is off. 10th December, Sunday I have a fitting scribbled down with loads of question marks so that means I might have to go or I might not."

"That's not too bad, is it?" she asked me, her long, orange coloured nail caught between her teeth. "I mean if you'd rather me not spend the weekend then that's fine, but I wanna see you."

"No, don't even say stupid shit like that to me. I want to see you and I will see you. This Friday, Saturday and Sunday."

"Yay!" she grinned and pulled her little happy face that made me smile as well. "Right, okay, weekend with you means I gotta pack my shit before I leave for London so when I get back I won't have to deal with it."

"Sounds like a plan," I said as another yawn pushed through my lips. "Do you have any classes to teach or attend before Friday?"

"Yes, both. Why?"

"Just thought you could've came earlier or somet but that's fine."

"Yeah I thought of that too but I can't exactly fuck off for the rest of the month without teaching. I'm supposed to be going to the competition with my class, well with those who will attend, this weekend to be there and show support and stuff, cos teachers do that, but I told them last week I might not be able to."

"You've been planning on seeing me for that long?" I asked, my voice sounded a bit like I was teasing her for it and she realised that quite quick because she flipped me off. "I feel special that you leave your students to be with me."

"Good, you should," she replied snarkily. "What's the weather like there? Is it really cold?"

"Yeah, I have had the heating on since I got back and haven't turned it off yet."

"Alright, so I need to pack warm clothes in one suitcase and summery clothes in another. LA is alright in the winter, isn't it?"

"I would say so," I nodded as I put my diary away and stretched when I stood up. "Haven't been to Los Angeles in a while. Since the promo for Dunkirk ended, actually."

"Ah, Dunkirk is so good. You are literally amazing in it," she rambled on, her voice got quieter so I looked on the phone and saw that she went out of the way so I couldn't see her. When she was back in the view I was already on the toilet, my elbows propped up on my knees, my chin rested in the palm of my hand while the other held the phone.

"My sister still hasn't seen it," I told her as a matter of fact. I understood why, I mean she had Ethan to take care of and other mum stuff plus her work was always interfering with everything as well.

"Lily or Gemma?"

"Gemma. Lily went with her friends I think."

"Aw, that's so sweet," she said which made me laugh. Of course, she'd find that sweet. Like I mentioned before, she is quite easy to impress. "You know what I just realised? I haven't met your father yet."

"Oh shoot, yeah you haven't," I said with a pulled up face. "Well, you can if you want to."

"Yeah it wouldn't be bad to make that happen," she replied. "I mean you met my whole family. On a few occasions actually."

"That's true. I guess you guys just had more family get togethers than mine."

"Speaking of family. You haven't met up with your brother yet, have you?"

"Nope," I said right away. "And I'm not even planning on doing so. He can get to fuck."

"Harry Styles!"

"Carrington Hill."

"Why are you so stubborn?"

"I have the right to not want to meet him. He never reached out to me so why should I?"

"To be the better man. Don't sink down to his level. You say you are better than him, but are you?" she didn't even take her time to look at the camera as she was folding her clothes and spoke her mind. I always thought that was attractive.

I mean the fact that she said whatever she thought. Not that she was folding her clothes. But I mean that wasn't a bad sight to look at either.

"Yes, I am. Why wouldn't I be?"

"You can't be serious," she let out a forced laugh. I knew it was forced because her genuine one didn't sound anything like it. "Not to be rude but I don't think you are any better than him in terms of reaching out."

"Why do you say that?" I asked, defeated. She probably had a good point that I didn't want to see because I was, well, too stubborn to do so.

"He most likely didn't reach out to you because he didn't know how. By how I mean he maybe didn't know what to say? How to act? I'm not sure, I never met him."

"Okay, let's say he didn't know what to say to me," I went along with the scenario. "He still could have just text me a hi or somet."

"Imagine leaving your family for your own reasons and not having them reach out to you. Yeah, you may want to but one, you never do because you don't know how to and slash or two, you have no idea how they'll react. You told me you are not good with rejection, since we're talking about your sibling, he might be in the same boat. Harry, do you ever think about things or just shut everything out because it's easier than to deal with it?"

"I don't know how to reply because I feel weird sitting on the toilet and getting my head bitten off by you."

"Well get off the toilet then and answer me like the better man you think you are."

"I feel like you are actually mad at me."

"Maybe I am."

"What?!"

"Sorry, I got too invested in your problems but I can't stand to the side and let you mess it up when you could make everything work out for the better."

"Do you really think if I met up with that scumbag everything would fall into its place? How everything was before he fucked off?"

"No, that's not what I'm saying, babe."

"Well, what are you trying to get at?"

"If you were to reach out to him, make the first move to show that you are the better man, you could start a process. The process of fixing your relationship with your brother. Lucas his name is, right?"

"Lucas, yes," I sighed.

"Right. Don't you want a better relationship with him? Don't you miss him? I know I miss my brother when I don't get to see him."

"Okay but your brother never left you in the shit..."

"I don't think that's bugging you although you keep bringing that up. Actually, I think you keep bringing that up because you don't have another reason as to why you don't want to talk to him."

"You are trying to get me to talk to him and I don't know if I should feel honoured that you are so emotionally invested in my relationship with Lucas or feel annoyed that you won't let it go."

"That's up to you to decide. You have the choice to talk to him or to ignore me."

"You leave me no choice though. Your points are always strong and they leave me thinking for ages until I actually listen to what you say."

"In that case, you are welcome then," she laughed. "Anyways, I gotta go get my shit together because I actually have a class to teach."

"How come they are always so late?" I wondered, not even thinking through the question.

"My students are still in high school, well, most of them. There are some from college as well, a pair or two from university. And so, they are usually in classes in the morning so it's better to have it in the afternoon. Unless it's a weekend."

"Right, I knew that," I replied which most likely got her rolling her eyes even though I couldn't see. "Babe?"

"Yeah?"

"Would you be up for a family meal one night? Like, either Friday or Saturday or even Sunday."

"To meet your dad?"

"Yes."

"Okay."

"Really?"

"Yes," she laughed. "I'm in. Good thing you brought it up now because this way I have more time to plan an outfit."

"You'd honestly look good in just jeans and a shirt."

"I know that but you are you meaning we'll be going to one of those fancy ass places because you are gonna wanna treat your family to something nice-, oh, wait. Speaking of family..."

"No," I said right away. I knew where she was going with this and I knew I wasn't going to like it.

"Babe."

"No."

"Harry, why not?"

"I don't like him. He cannot come."

"I want to meet him, though."

"I'm sorry, but you won't be meeting him. I told my mother this as well. She was suggesting how I should go home when we were in Scotland and take you with me cos Lucas was home then."

"Whatever."

"You don't get to be moody with me just because I don't want my asshole of a brother at the family meal."

"It's not a family meal if you don't invite your brother. And I'm not moody. I just said whatever because I don't wanna argue."

"Okay."

"Okay."
