What the heart wants

FLASHBACK

"Katsuki?" Camie looked closer to Bakugou's now inexpressive face.

"I see... then there is no..."

"No. I'm really sorry we made you get it wrong" she felt terribly embarrassed as soon as she got notice of the misunderstanding, but now she was concerned on how the truth may have affected him. "That pregnancy test was Yaoyorozu's, not mine."

Camie had expected to see absolute relief in his face, but his frowned expression actually looked more of... disappointment. And when she remembered their encounter at the bar that night, there was no way she didn't want to hug her UA's bae. It was understandable many people considered him a terrible tempered scrapper who solved everything by creating explosions, but even since the hero license exam where they had to deal with problematic children, Camie knew there was more to him. Back then she was the type of girl so innocent and absent minded her classmates tend to see her as kind of a dumb child in the body of an all grown up woman. Most likely that was the reason it didn't took long for her to connect with Bakugou. She adored working with children and, despite his age and hero progress, he quickly became her favorite big child. The one that always covers the best of himself under an explosive persona and an over the top bad boy attitude.

"But... what you just told me..." Camie knew Bakugou hated to get sentimental, so she was moved and had all the reasons to be, "... was really nice."

"DON'T..." Bakugou slightly blushed as he retained the rage that in other circumstances would suffocate his embarrassment. "I MEAN... NOBODY... NEEDS TO KNOW...WHAT I SAID..."

"But you were being honest, weren't you?"

"Of course I was! You think I would just leave you alone with such responsibility?"

"I know you wouldn't. But I thought you weren't very okay with the idea of becoming a parent..."

"Well" he growled. "That must be way harder than kicking villains' asses. But it can't be that awful raising a brat with the best of our genes, right?"

"Oh, who wouldn't want to meet a chibi version of you..." a smiley Camie nodded. "And what about the other part of your affirmation?"

Bakugou greeted his teeth and mumbled something incomprehensible before answering.

"I meant that too. I didn't just say it because I thought you were... you know..."

Camie didn't need to ask to know the answer, but some things in life must be heard from a person's mouth instead.

"Katsuki... I never apologized for what happened the night of the parties. And I'm sorry too that I said I had a date for the wedding; I was still dealing with the break up and I was totally confused for how that night ended, but that's no excuse."

"Easy, babe: I was actually glad to find out you hadn't gone with Monoma. That would have been a hundred times worse than lying" he remembered.

"Do you really have to go tomorrow?" Camie sighed. "Midoriya is already going, as well as others, but heroes will also be needed here. And you and I have a lot to talk about, this time without a bottle of sake..."

"Shigaraki is in Hawaii, holding Eri and the rest prisoners. That means there's where the biggest part of the action will take place" Bakugou said. Not to mention the so called The Man, the presumptuous scumbag who thought he could send him to the hospital and get away with it, was waiting for a rematch in Hawaii. "You think I'll let the nerd and the Half-Half bastard get all the glory? Besides, All Might personally asked me to go there and work together. Not that I'm going to like that, but..."

Camie kissed the spiky haired berserker on the cheek, and he had the courtesy to smirk in response.

"You better return safe and safety, Katsuki Bakugou" Camie sternly stated. "When this is all over, Uraraka and Midoriya would have to restart the celebration someday. In other words, you still have a wedding to take me to, understood?"

"You bet, gorgeous" Bakugou grinned. "And once I'm back, victorious like the greatest hero of all time that I am, we'll talk about the future. Our future."

July 10th, 11:00.
Kamino's suburbs.

"We now return to the streets of Kamino, where criminal activity seems to have drastically risen and the intervention of heroes from all parts of the city has been required" the reporter stoically announced in front of the camera as her partner covered the news. "I have with me the hero number 10, Ingenium II, who is right now leading the operation to contain the disturbs" she brought her colored micro to the shinny armored young hero, who stood firm and was ready to address to the audience. "So, Ingenium, tell us: is there any summary or commentary on the situation you may want to share?"

"You are right, lady: this area has remained quite turbulent since the last public action of the League of Villains" the secure tone of his voice left no doubt about Iida's past as Representative and inherited talent for leadership and words, a talent that was more than necessary given the chaotic background that surrounded them.

The street was an exhibition of the consequences of a riot: cracked walls, holes from shots, burnt debris everywhere, a practically destroyed ground, firemen still cleaning the huge mess... not to mention the fight sounds and cries that could be heard in the distance, hardly a few streets from there.

"We've been here from early morning and disturbs had been stopped in this spot. However, the situation remains delicate and we must beg both the press and regular civilians to stay behind the perimeter" he continued.

"But according to testimonies, these are no regular acts of vandalism or robbery: there have been reports of whole crowds chanting the names of the League of Villains and graffiti against heroes. Many people are scared; they feel like they are about to live the Armageddon in first person. Do you have any words for them?"

"The League has always viewed heroes as the true enemy of society. In fact, before Tomura Shigaraki came to power, the Hero Killer, embraced that conviction and carried out a personal crusade that costed the lives and physical integrity of innocent people, fueling the desperation of thousands and making them believe the concept of hero is completely rotten in the process" Iida had revised those facts a million times and wouldn't take them back, for the honor of his family and the friendship he shared with his comrades. "But here is what makes the difference: we heroes live under All Might's ideals, and will die if it is what takes to defend them, but we won't KILL for them. If villains and the people who follow them think heroes don't care about the greater good anymore, my friends and I are ready to prove they are wrong!"

"That's right, Tenya, you are doing perfectly" he proudly thought. "No overacting or exaggerated gestures in bad situations, like Yaoyorozu always says..."

"Now you mention your friends... do you know if Deku is around? Maybe children would like to hear him so they can feel safer..."

"Huh?" Iida felt lucky the reporter and viewers wouldn't notice his now nervous expression under his helmet. "Oh, Deku, of course! Sure, he... he must be putting some order not far from here. I just... don't think he may have a lot of time for words..."

"I'M HERE!!"

"AAAH!!" Iida cried because of the jump scare and blinked multiple times at the sight of his friend. "Midori... I mean, Deku? How...?" he then noticed Camie out of the camera angle, innocently looking at them and making a gesture with her hand Iida instantly interpreted as "just play along".

"Deku!" the reporter carried a hand to her chest and breathed in relief. "We are so glad to see you! You know, you've hardly been seen in public since... well, since the incident at UA, and people (me included) were getting worried!"

"I'm sorry you were... but there is no need to! Like Ingenium here was stating, we are here to make sure people are safe and we won't leave until everything is controlled!" Deku said through the mic and casting his green look to the camera. "Now, dear hero fans: I know these are being difficult days and you miss to watch us in act from the front row, but now I need you to trust us. I promise I am in this for the win. Why? Because we are heroes... AND WE CAN DO IT!"

Iida knew Deku like few people actually did and would distinguish the original from an imitation anytime and anywhere, but he had to give some credit to Camie's use of her Quirk: that was a pretty convincing illusion of the hero who knew how to make the world feel safe.

"YOU DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO, FROG WOMAN!!" it was heard in the distance. "IF ANY OTHER OF THOSE LOSERS DARES TO BAT AN EYE AS WE ADVANCE, I'LL MAKE HIM FLY TO THE STRATOSPHERE!!

Iida didn't expect less from the girl whose charm Bakugou wouldn't remain inmune to: the illusion of her perhaps-not-so-much ex boyfriend was truly a masterpiece. For the moment, Camie's tricks would be enough so the population didn't notice the absence of the missing heroes.

However, that didn't change the fact that some of his friends were at that moment very far from there, entering first class villains' domain and with no possibility of being helped. He, as the rest of the heroes who had stayed in the country to keep it safe, couldn't hide he was worried about them, but he couldn't let it distract him. The best thing he could do for them in that situation was to stay loyal to his hero's blood and do what they were born and trained to do, as he hoped they were successful in their mission.

"I'm sorry, but you are going to have to excuse us, madam" Iida concluded, as Deku's illusion left to vanish out of the reporter and the camera's sight. "We have a lot of work to do. Besides, the area is not a hundred per cent safe yet and..."

Iida's words were cut by the deafening noise of a building falling down at the other side of the street. A gigantic manlike creature that looked like something out of Greek mythology had appeared out of nowhere and his size and brutal strength was enough to make all the present heroes look small by comparison.

"Go! Go! Go!" he hurriedly asked the two afraid civilians. As soon as he made sure they were safe he pressed the button of his helmet to activate the communication with the inventor girl who was working inside her personified van some streets behind. "Mei! Do you copy?"

"Loud and clear, Tin Man!" Mei Hatsume always enthusiastic voice answered, but Iida was in no mood for jokes.

"Please, tell me the new..." Iida rolled his eyes and tried to save his temper. "...the new baby is ready!"

"Ahh... you mean any baby in particular?"

"For goodness' sake, Mei!!" Iida impatiently cried. "OUR baby! THE ONE WE SPENT THE WHOLE LAST NIGHT MAKING INSIDE THE VAN!!!"

Iida thought his heart had stopped and felt like all his body, costume included, turned a shade of red, followed by a shade of pale as he assimilated the... line he had just said with all the seriousness of his being.

"Iida, I regret to inform you..." Kaminari muttered with an hilariously disjointed expression, "... your image is not recovering after saying that..."

"Ohh, yes!" Hatsume happily answered, apparently not noticing or not giving a care about Iida accidentally ridiculing himself. "It will be ready soon enough! Give me a little more time!"

"Get ready, Iida" Tsuyu wouldn't deny the urge to laugh at what Iida had just said out loud, but duty was calling. "You are in charge, remember?"

"YES!" Iida snapped out of it. "EVERYONE, IN FORMATION! STICK TO THE STRATEGY, AND REMEMBER CIVILIANS' SAFETY COMES FIRST!"

"Let's go, Tsu!" Tokoyami said, letting Dark Shadow out for the fight against Gigantomachia. Tsuyu sticked herself to the walls of the standing buildings so she could fight from a suitable position. It was going to be a hard day, but Deku and the rest wouldn't have a better time despite the paradise in any other situation Hawaii would be considered.

July 10th, 20:40.

Pacific Ocean, a few miles away

from the Hawaii Isles.

It wasn't what one may call a pleasure cruise, but the old Yakuza boss had fulfilled his part of the deal: the cargo ship left the port with no inconvenience. Deku, Bakugou, Todoroki, Uraraka, Mina, Kirishima, Koda, Sero, Mineta and Toru were the ones selected to secretly enter the island belonging to The Man, while the rest of the heroes, under the direction of Iida, The Big Three and  other veterans would stay to protect the population from the members of The League and find the place where the Nomus came from.

All Might had in confidence told Mayor Nezu about the plan: a few selected of the best heroes in the country would infiltrate into the villains' territory as Camie Utsushimi, the Glamour User, kept creating illusions of those missing ones when it was required so the public didn't suspect. The former UA's Principal sighed since he knew his students quite well and he also knew that not even with all his influence could stop them. All he could do was to use that influence and power to help the UA's promotion to carry out the plan and keep trying to reason with the US authorities. If that ended up in his resignation as Mayor, so be it: there was a lot on stake. Furthermore... being a politician wasn't always that much of a grateful job, anyway.

Deku, as one would expect, hadn't stopped trying to come up with a plan: for the last hours he had studied the geography of the islands, but the one owned by their enemy didn't appear in the maps, so there was not much to do in that aspect.

Luckily, Uraraka had convinced him to have some rest like the others. She even had stayed with him for some time, as she cuddled and petted her boy's green hair until he fell asleep from fatigue. Uraraka could be doing that all day, and who knew when they would be able to stay like that again.

However, that night she would find it hard to sleep due to everything she had in her mind, so she  decided to get out to the deck for a walk. She had hardly had time to process all the things that happened that last week and the ones that were likely about to happen as they approached to their destination: their missing friends, their worried parents (for the love she had for hers and Deku's mother she would make everything in her power so they could return safe), the unanswered questions about the League's plans, the fact they were on a new adventure Pro Heroes weren't meant to be...

"All I wanted for this week was to get married..."

"Mineta!" she heard the distant voice of Kirishima. "What is that pile of dirty magazines for? We said we would carry only the essential! This mission might be a matter of life or death!

"Well, forgive me if some of us prefer to die happy!"

The little pervert's habits would be reprehensible in the eyes of any woman, but in such situation they may call it a display of humor. She chuckled a bit as she came closer to the origin of the discussion, finding an also half smiling Todoroki in the way.

"Todoroki!"

"Oh hello, Uraraka" he greeted her. He was watching the discussion from the railing. "I see you aren't very sleepy either. How is Midoriya?"

"Sleeping like a baby; he hasn't stopped the entire day" Uraraka sighed. "Even he needs to rest."

"I know" they were all in that together, but All Might's pupil had some really big shoes to fill. "We are going to confront All For One's successor. For him to call it personal would be understatement."

"I hope everyone is okay there. Mashirao, Shisho, the Professor..." Uraraka tried not to think a lot about it, but that had been the hardest part until then. "Eri... despite her Quirk... she's still a child..."

"But her power is such that even she has considerable problems to control it" Todoroki thought. "If Shigaraki is as wise as he has proven to date, he will remember that and won't lay a finger on her so easily.

"As for the rest... well, they are miles away from being me... but I wouldn't say they are a waste of space" Bakugou had suddenly appeared next to them. "They should endure until we arrive."

"You should go with Midoriya, Uraraka" Todoroki said. "This week has been specially hard for you. And who knows what awaits us. I'm actually glad I convinced Momo not to come."

Bakugou looked at Uraraka and she could read in his eyes he knew about Momo's state, which left her in shock. She should have known Camie would eventually tell him.

"How is the Ponytail, by the way?" Bakugou asked as he played distracted looking at the sea at night.

"I bet she's been creating hundreds of objects" he thought. "As if she ate for two people, no doubt about it. She's lucky the Icy-Hot is so fucking dense."

"To be honest, she's been acting weird" Todoroki expressed in concern. Uraraka held her breath; the girls had promised they would let Momo tell him when they returned. "I guess I shouldn't be surprised: working as one of the top heroes and being a bridesmaid at the same time must have been exhausting. I've been a bit worried for her even after she got out of the hospital, but I trust her to be cautious as she's always been. Besides, before we left, Jirou, Tsuyu and Utsushimi came to see me and they promised they would do take care of her and help her whenever she needed as one of the heroes in charge of leading them."

"Yeah. They are the best friends in the world" Uraraka smiled. "Don't worry, they won't let anything bad happen to her. I mean, they will look after each other, like they always do" Uraraka then felt the need to stretch herself and her eyelids a bit heavier. "Well! Thanks for the talk, gentlemen! But I think I'll follow Todoroki's advice and I'll return with Deku."

"Hey, if the nerd isn't fresh for tomorrow, don't count on me to look after his ass!" Bakugou returned to his usual self.

Uraraka rolled her eyes and returned to the sad looking cabin they shared. She found Deku just where she left him: sleeping deeply and mumbling incoherently like he did when he was awake, only with his arms slowly looking for someone missing on the other half of the bed, in a pricelessly adorable image. To her, being in love with a guy like that was as natural as breathing.

She returned to the bed and let those arms surround the girl they were looking for, as she returned the hug and smoothly kissed his cheek before falling asleep quicker than she expected, avoiding to think about what they would do in the morning when they reached firm land.

End of chapter 27.

H.F: I'm back with a new chapter of Wedding Bells!

Tom Nook: Did somebody say BELLS!?!?

H.F: AAAH!! Go back to your shop at the island, you greedy raccoon! You are not getting my Watties into debt!!

Sorry... like I was saying, I'm always happy to share another chapter with you. I think I found a good balance between length and updating period (2-3 weeks), but of course you can argue if you want longer chapters or faster updates (I'd rather you didn't say both 🙀).

I know nobody here is forced to strictly obey the rules of orthography or paragraph structure, but since I'm still learning to write in English don't hold back if you appreciate any mistake. I won't consider you jerks; after all, this is your language and I am the one who is interested in improving.

Oh, and just in case, a quick reminder: this is a story I labeled as Mature Content because of action scenes, possible dark moments and adult humor, but there will be no lemon. If there is any filler in this story, it shall be comedic relief.

I want to thank you all who keep writing stories that entertain me and give me a break from the tough year I'm having. I always say first one must write for himself, but now there is a considerable number of people giving this one a shot, I must give my hundred per cent, not only for the writing itself, but also for the support you are giving this profile.

In other words... I must work to deserve the follow I have received!!

Anyway, Honest Fiction hopes your summer has started as well as it can given how crazy the world is today, and that you have enjoyed this bit of a messy chapter too. I may be overusing flashbacks 🙈🙈... I'll think about it!!

If you like this stories, feel free to share, vote, comment or follow! And if you want to know a little more of the dude at the other side of the screen, check I GOT TAGGED SOOOOO in this profile, which has already THREE CHAPTERS 😂!

I'll update as soon as I can since I still have a lot of studying to do...

See you soon, Watties! Stay safe and sleep well!!
