Message, plans and revelations
July 9th, 16:30.
UA's Conference Room.
"There she is" Tsuyu said to Uraraka, while the two friends waited in front of the door for the last person required for the meeting.
Toga was already grinning and blushing. She was tied hand and feet to a vertical stretcher that was pushed to the inside of the room by a couple of agents, and was wearing a straitjacket. After her very recent escape from prison they had done everything in their power to keep Toga under control, and that was like she had been brought from her isolation cell. She had been escorted by a patrol of guards to the As usual, she smiled as if she was holding a squeal and her big amber eyes shined and reminded of the ones of a wild hungry cat at the sight of an innocent bird when her eyes and Uraraka's met. The last one's didn't look friendly either, though.
"Toga..."
"Good evening, Clarice" she amusingly faked a male voice to greet Uraraka. The only thing missing was a metallic mask that would cover her lower face and would prevent Toga from showing her blood thirsty fangs. "You know, this thing isn't cute at all" she complained shaking a bit inside the straitjacket. "It's way more fun when any other is the one tied and I am the one holding a knife..."
Uraraka narrowed her eyes in anger. In UA they were taught that heroes should never let hatred be their motivation for fighting villains. Both were to be considered two sides of the same coin, and villains must be regarded as human beings with their own trauma and motto, as well as subjects of rights. Uraraka was as loyal to that thought as it was possible, but sometimes even a good natured and sweet girl like her would find it hard to put it into practice. After all, Himiko Toga was a villain she knew since her first year of High School and had faced her in multiple occasions. Sure, no member of the League of Villains could say he didn't have a happy life before joining, but to her Toga remained a psycho who dreamed of draining Deku's blood and dared to call it love.
"What's up with that look? I was actually enjoying the ceremony before everything started. Speaking of which, I was kind of upset for not being invited" Toga pouted, as she sat in front of her. "After all we've come through together you, me, Izuku... and many of you..." she smirked at Tsuyu, giving her chills. "You are really a mean friend, Ochako. But I still love you. And I've got to say your dress was lovely. So long and white... begging for some dark bloody red..."
"Don't mind her, ladies" Best Jeanist then appeared, before Uraraka could drop a comeback. "She can't do any harm in this condition. Let's go inside, the League said they would contact us in a few minutes" he opened the door, so the guards pushed the stretcher to the inside and the two girls came in.
Deku, Todoroki, Kirishima, Mina, Toru, Kaminari, Tokoyami, Mirio, Tamaki, Nejire, Itsuka and Monoma, among others, including veterans like Fat Gum, Eraser and Vlad King, were holding their breath as they waited. Soon All Might arrived, along with Melissa. Not surprisingly, All Might was the only one who had been seeing her for the last hours, and Deku and Mirio felt like they should say something that would encourage her now her father had disappeared, but if Melissa Shield had been sad for that last period of time, any trace of it had been replaced by an eye of determination that let no doubt on why she was the most respected Quirkless person in America.
The big screen blinked three times before illuminating the huge room. As soon as it was clear the heroes distinguished a group of silhouettes sitting along a table, looking directly at them. The room their enemies were was too dark for their faces to be appreciated, but any of the present heroes could tell those silhouettes belonged to some of the members of the League of Villains:
"Make sure the camera shows my good profile, Mustard!" the voice of Spinner was heard.
"Nice work, you dumbass! What's the point of the turning off the lights if you say my name?"
"Oh shit..."
"And what's the point of hiding your faces in the shadows if everyone here has known us for years?" Toga narrowed her eyes, and childishly inflated her cheeks. "I mean, seriously...."
"SILENCE..." the authoritarian and notoriously eerie voice everyone wanted to hear, specially Deku and All Might, finally caught their attention. "I don't know why I let you prepare this.
"Everyone, leave. Now" the leader of the League of Villains commanded his subordinates. He didn't have to ask twice before they obeyed and retired in silence, leaving him alone in front of the heroes at the other side of the screen.
As the tall blue haired man stepped out of the shadows and took a seat, every cell in Deku's body urged him to demand his polar opposite in the League to give his friends back and warn he would chase him 'til wherever he was, but All Might drew him a severe glare from his place. They needed to hear what the League would have to say and nothing would please Tomura Shigaraki more than seeing heroes in desperation and getting out of character.
"How you do, Toga..."
"Hi boss!" Toga happily answered. "The cell is not the best I've visited, but I haven't been bored at all! And you should have seen the wedding! You would have happy cried!"
"That's enough" Nezu elevated his voice and posed his tiny black eyes on Shigaraki's image. Despite his appearance, he had never been so far from looking like a plushie. "We are listening."
"Greetings, Mayor Nezu" the way the villainous leader hissed from behind that white hand that acted as a mask would give chills to anyone. Deku knew that deep beyond his maniacal and cruel demeanor and his calculating privileged mind, Shigaraki was a child in the body of an adult. However, after a few years fighting each other the public already described him as Deku's archenemy, and with good reason. "It's good to see you all after long months of hard work."
"The pleasure is only yours" Kirishima growled through menacing sharp teeth.
"Easy, Red Riot" Mirio interfered. "Get to the point, Shigaraki. But first..."
"We want to see our friends" Deku threateningly demanded. He hardly noticed he had interrupted his boss and stepped closer to the cinema sized screen where Shigaraki could be appreciated as if he was there. "What have you done with Eri and the Professor? And where are are Mashirao and Shinsho?"
All Might was ready to remind him he must control his temper, but then he thought that David could easily be having the worst part as their prisoner, and simply couldn't find the words. Shigaraki would have no problem in badly hurting a man who All Might regarded as a dear friend and had played a major role to help him become the Symbol of Peace he was in his youth.
Shigaraki slowly scratched his neck for a short time as his attention was drawn to the hero who had earned a special hatred on his behalf.
"Midoriya... I knew you wouldn't miss my message" the look in his red eyes was accompanied by a note of malevolent joy in his voice. "My apologies, I know you prefer to be called Deku in presence of the greatest villains. But... after seeing the media's reaction to your most recent failure, I thought you'd rather use your hero name when you are able to do your job properly."
"That's unfair, Tomura. It's not their fault we are one hell of a villain team" smirked Toga, as cheerful as she looked. "We can take the credit!"
"Answer the question" this time it was Melissa who took her chance. "We have your missing friend here" she pointed to the inmobilized Toga, who just smiled in amusement at the sight of a possible new "friend". "It's your turn now. Where is my father?"
"Nice to meet you at last, Miss Shield. Please, fear not. I can assure you I have no interest in the Professor getting hurt... as long as he cooperates" answered the villain, as he redirected his glare. To him that must be like a free buffet of heroes to terrify. "You see, this man... your father... has something that belongs to me."
That took Deku by surprise, as well as his friends. Thanks to his research he knew I-Expo's technology had been stolen by criminals who worked for The Man, but what interest could Shigaraki have on anything in Professor Shield's power?
"That's impossible" Melissa answered with all her conviction. "My father has nothing to do with the League or any other gang of villains."
"Oh, is that so? Well, let's see what he has to say about it" Shigaraki pressed a button and the image divided into a double screen. The person revealed in the right half made Melissa gasp in relief and almost jump to the screen:
"DAVID /DAD!!" All Might and Melissa cried respectively.
"Melissa?" the Professor was on his feet inside what seemed like a white empty room and he looked like he had just waken up after a long night of sleep and didn't know where he was at all, but his eyes illuminated when he recognized his daughter. "I'm here, honey... I'm so happy to see you are all right..."
"Are you okay? Tell us! Where are you?" All Might asked in a hurry.
"I don't know... I just woke up here... and they just told it's been two days from the wedding" David answered looking all around in confusion.
"Professor! Is Eri with you?" Deku couldn't help it anymore. "What about Mashirao and Shinsho?"
"Huh? What happened to them? I see nobody else here..."
"Please, please..." Shigaraki sticked to his cold manners and returned to the point, but he looked anything but bored. "I hate to interrupt this brief moving re-meeting, but we all have a lot to be busy with these days. You have questions and naturally I'm not going to answer all of them now. Don't you hate it when someone spoils you the best part of a great story?"
"Stop playing with us" Deku rapped out. "What's the reason behind this call?"
Shigaraki took a moment to savor the anxiety of his enemies and tapped the table with his decaying fingers as he relaxed on his chair.
"If you allow me, I'll start from the beginning" Shigaraki finally said. The heroes got silent and opened their ears. Some things may be about to be revealed.
"You all remember Eri's origins, don't you? After all most of you here took part on their rescue from Overhaul. Back then, the Yakuza was trying as hard as it could to convince the population that its days of glory as the iron fist of the criminal underworld hadn't met their end. An end they actually met when All For One became the face of crime in the world, but that's not the point. The point is that when your precious Eri's Quirk manifested, it happen to be such a powerful one that her mother was terrified and delivered her own child to the leader of the Yakuza, who was no other than Eri's grandfather..."
Everybody knew the story indeed, and they were always glad that dark chapter of Eri's life had been left behind... or that is what they thought until now.
"Naturally, this old man became quickly fascinated by his granddaughter's Quirk, which had been able to rewind her father's lifetime to the point of making him disappear. Much to his daughter's horror, I suppose..." he added with little interest. "You know the rest: the old man got ill and entered into comma, so his pupil replaced him and the head of the society and the man behind all the cruel experimentation the girl went through until she was six, the heroes discovered everything, a rescue operation took place, Sir Nighteye died in the process, you defeated Overhaul (first time I was happy on a Deku's victory), Eri was saved and trusted to the UA, people start to recognize their new heroes and go crazy when they see them... and all the same story the media loves to repeat every time a hero helps a granny cross the street kept going and going and going..."
"Correct me if I'm wrong, but on that occasion the League was helping Kai Chisaki in their project to develop a weapon using Eri's DNA. I was even stabbed by one of their members during the fight" Eraser replied pointing to Toga.
"Well, before that your Quirk made me get stripped in front of Izuku, so we should call it even" Toga pretended to be offended. "About those Yakuza, they were total jerks. Overhaul had recently crippled Mr Compress and killed Sis Magne, but we were risking ourselves to help them fight you all and they didn't give a care about poor Twice or me. No wonder why they fell so soon."
"You are right, Eraser. Back then I had sealed a deal to work with Overhaul and his men. We had a common hatred towards the hero society, but I never liked him. And, like Toga said, the fact he killed one of us before our very eyes during a meeting didn't help either, so, obviously, we had our own plans. That is why, once the heroes arrived, we moved and went for what we where interested in from the beginning."
"In other words, you stole the Quirk-destroying bullets from Overhaul and then you turned him into a crippled Quirkless for life" Nejire remembered.
"Oh, I'm telling you: at that moment he would have preferred I had just killed him right there" the amusement in his voice increased. "But I'm sure we'll all agree he deserved far worse after what he did to an innocent girl."
"I swear, if you dare to submit Eri to the same the Eight Precepts of Death did..." Uraraka angrily stood up, with all her friends silently seconding her position. Deku softly placed his hand on her shoulder so she sat back, but his firy glare totally matched his fianceé's.
"You might have a non so different fate..." Kirishima concluded hardening his knuckles to empathize the warning. "Your Quirk also relies on your hands, doesn't it?"
The atmosphere had become hostile and All Might started to spoke up so everyone stayed on calm and the conversation could continue, but Shigaraki's reaction was different from the one the heroes expected. Suddenly the villain looked so tense that he unconsciously pressed the surface of his table with the five fingers of his right, making it partially deteriorate until he realized and removed them.
It looked like he was about to succum to a rage, but after a couple of seconds he composed himself.
"Don't insult me. Overhaul was an amateur who betrayed his agonizing mentor and did whatever she wanted with the granchild of a man who took him under his wing like a son. I despise ungrateful people. And after that, you let the girl grow up in the rotten society heroes created to their convenience. My vision... the vision All For One entrusted me... has nothing to do with that nobody who was only good for torturing little girls and giving orders to suckers bigger than him..."
That vision... All Might felt the urge to inquiry Shigaraki on why he still insisted on purging the world of heroes, but he will have his opportunity when they met in person. Whatever that boy had did on his life as a villain, he was still Nana Shimura's grandson and All Might would not give up hope on his dead mentor's flesh and blood.
"I followed a research on the League's last moves that included Toga's arrest in Mexico" Deku made all the use of his nerves of steel. "Recently, thanks to Mei Hatsume's intervention, the police was able to open the briefcase you ordered her to deliver. As I suspected, that mob was about to deliver a sample of blood. Eri's blood, am I right?"
Now it was Shigaraki who was stoically paying attention to another's words, as well as every person in the room.
"The Nomus that attacked the UA were different. They had shapes and Quirks not seen before. The so called The Man, the owner of an illegal wrestling business, became naturally interested in the League's advances on artificial Quirks. But Quirks tend to develop and become more powerful because of their use, so any business involving their manipulation and experimentation implies serious risks. That's why you offered him something else: a mean to control the development of those Quirks to convenience. Eri's blood was used to terminate Quirks in the past, so you sent Toga to America so they could see its effects. You anticipated she could be brainwashed to tell the truth if she was arrested, so you never gave her any important details. Kirishima and the rest stopped her and confiscated the briefcase, so then you decided to kidnap Eri instead" Deku continued.
All Might reached the same conclusion when he checked Deku's papers at the wedding. Even if they had a sample of Eri's blood, the League would need the whole supply sooner or later.
"That way not only you would get the supply for the bullets Overhaul created, but you would let the world see how powerful the League of Villains has become, and make us heroes look weak at their own home..."
"Not bad. I wasn't expecting less from the dude who has consecrated his life to piss me off" Shigaraki clapped. "Only I had been planning to take Eri for months. And I have been interested in Quirks that affect other Quirks far before I knew of her existence. What makes you so sure that blood was hers?"
"Huh? Who's was it then?" All Might asked.
"What about the rest?" Toru anxiously asked. She hadn't known about Mashirao since the attack.
"Yes! Where are Shinsho and Mashirao? And what did you need them for?" Itsuka demanded to know.
"Like I said..." Shigaraki hissed. "... I didn't contact to tell you the all the story of my plan."
"Wait, then some heroes were captured too? Let them go!" David adopted a serious tone despite his situation as a hostage. "You wanted me, you have me. But those two boys are of no use to you."
"That's for me to decide" Shigaraki spitted. "Speaking of which... don't you want to know why are you here, Professor?"
"If you are working with those mobs who have stolen and used items from I-Expo on various occassions, I can imagine what would you want from me" David icily answered. "But if you think I will help you to make experiments with that girl..."
"Wrong" Shigaraki was starting to sound bored. "The Man has his own interest in you, it's true, but that is not what concerns me. The reason why I ordered to discretely capture you and made Toga took your place for a while (great work by the way, Toga)..." the blonde girl just awed modestly, "...in the middle of the ceremony, Professor, is because I knew you had brought something to Japan. But you already knew that, didn't you, All Might?"
Now it was All Might's turn to get tense. Deku looked at him surprised, since he didn't know what was that about. That was a detail was totally out of his investigation.
"To put it simple, Professor Shield has been working on something All Might was expecting to receive during the wedding. More specifically, some information your former Hero Number One asked him to decode months ago, most likely the last time they met in I-Island. Oh, yes, the League's ears reach there, Professor, and if you didn't know it before, now you do. In fact, originally I hired a gang of professional hackers/burglars to steal the file directly from I-Expo and bring it to me. I planned it carefully and they would have succeeded, but... someone interfered."
Shigaraki pressed another button and a third inset, smaller than the other two that divided the screen into Shigaraki and David's images, appeared above those two, but for the look on the Professor's eyes one could appreciate he could also see the video playing there. To Deku and most of their friends, but All Might and Melissa's eyes and expression said it all: that was the video tape from a security camera David showed All Might some days ago, where it could be appreciated a certain slim and athletic stranger in a silver and blue costume fighting a gang of burglars inside I-Expo in the middle of the night.
"I had seen that before" David muttered. "So the League was behind that attempt of theft... and that was what they were after."
"Indeed" Shigaraki nodded. "Then I wondered who was this hero I had never seen before and I definitely wasn't expecting to be there that night, so I investigated further..." his voice acquired again that note of spooky fun, "...until we found her again in New York."
"No... not this way..." Melissa internally begged as she started to tremble and her face turned paler. The rest of the young heroes didn't know what was going on... with the exception of the Big Three, who didn't look better than Melissa or All Might.
It was too late for regrets. The third screen blinked and a different video none knew existed until then. The spies of the League had recorded the moment where the mysterious stranger, who was not so mysterious for All Might, Mirio, Nejire and Tamaki, was unmasked after surviving against the Hero Killer. On the other hand, to say the revelation was a shock for Professor Shield would be a serious understatement.
"M... Melissa...? You...?" David looked like she didn't believe what he was seeing and totally needed to have a seat. His daughter was the stranger who used I-Expo's technology to play the hero?
"Dad... I..." Melissa stuttered, as she felt like her stomach was full of living eels and her head spun. She couldn't have imagined a worse way for her father to find out the truth.
"Wait there, everyone: here comes the best part" Shigaraki almost licked his lips when the video revealed the moment when the Big Three contacted All Might and acted rapidly to put the injured Melissa safe and out of the police's reach. The video was quite short, but it was enough to prove what Shigaraki was having a great time making the heroes know. "How disobedient these kids happen to be today, right Professor? I mean your daughter, of course, since it looks like The Big Three were acting with the knowledge of your friend... who has been retired for so long he doesn't seem to remember in what does a hero work consist of..."
"All Might... you knew this?" David asked his friend, unable to process what he had just witnessed.
"David... I didn't know it was her until Mirio told me" All Might tried to explain. "Everything happened fast and I did everything in my hand so she wasn't discovered. When you two arrived I would try to reason with her..."
"It's not Uncle All Might's fault, Dad! I was doing what I did in the most absolute secret and all he and the Big Three did was to protect me! I'm the only one responsible for my actions!" Melissa cried, with all her confidence going down.
"Don't be too hard on yourself, Miss Shield" Shigaraki said. "Your father, your dear Uncle All Might... and some of your friends..." he briefly looked at Deku, whose mind was hardly fast enough to put so many pieces together, "... have their own secrets too, like any good hero. Don't you agree, All Might?"
All Might's self control was starting to break, but they weren't done yet.
"What does this all have to do with the crimes we are discussing" the leader of the Big Three had taken the boat rudder. "What is it that you want from us?"
"As I was saying," Shigaraki returned to his serious tone. "Professor Shield carried the mentioned file safe in a multipurpose watch invented by himself" he showed to everyone there a red complex looking watch that looked like one out of a James Bond's movie. "Toga, disguised as one of the guests, kept her eye on him and when she saw the opportunity, she followed him to the bathroom and, with the help of Kurogiri, they reduced him and transported him to me. But the Professor thought quickly and made one last move."
"Yes" David admitted. "As small as it was, I considered the possibility some villain knew about it and tried to steal it. When the villains were about to take me I took advantage of the few seconds I had..."
"And you erased it before it fell in my hands. Well played, Professor" Shigaraki forced a calm tone, but the way he disintegrated the watch in his bare hand, pressing tightly his fingers around it, left no doubt about how upset he was. "And there you have what I'm interested in, Miss Shield. I know the original file is safe in I-Expo, where your father worked to decode its information. I want you to go back there and take it. Once you have done that, you, Midoriya, and the rest of your gang, will follow my instructions and meet me at the location I will tell you the next time I contact you. There you will give us back Himiko Toga and give that file to me."
"And you will give us back Eri, Mashirao, Shinsho and the Professor?" Deku asked, not trusting his enemy's words.
"I will give the Professor back when The Man and me are done with him, as well as the rest" Shigaraki stated.
"You lie" Uraraka furiously replied. "Knowing what Eri is capable of doing, you won't give her back without a fight."
"Exactly" Nejire said. "As soon as you know your position we will go there and rescue them by all means necessary."
"Interesting" Shigaraki taunted them. "But all the heroes in Japan have spent the last days trying to find us all along the country, with no result. What does that tell you?"
"That you are not in Japan anymore" everyone looked at Deku when he made that statement. "Right, Shigaraki?"
"Really? Where am I then?" Shigaraki raised his eyebrow.
"The League of Villains has gotten stronger, it's true, but so have the heroes. And if you recruited some help from the outside it's because you are still outnumbered. You've always been a smart villain, Shigaraki, so you wouldn't stay here for long after what you did or we would have find you sooner or later. No, America is a much bigger place to hide, and very convenient, considering your new friends" Deku exposed what he had just been muttering inside his head.
"If that's true, you should bear in mind that The Man and I have influence in various places of America. And it is a really huge continent, so I hope you have a more specific location in mind..."
"We will ask the US government to let our heroes look for you wherever you are. Lelimillion, Suneater and Nejire Chan have already the license to operate there, so it shouldn't take long..." Nezu felt like the wind may be changing on their favor.
"Oh, yes, I think I forgot to mention one tiny detail..." Shigaraki falsely apologized. "The video cut where the Big Three can be seen helping an illegal hero get away is already in the hands of the police. I sent it to my contacts there before this conversation started."
"WHAT!?!"
"Don't worry, Professor. I made sure the video was cut so your daughter's face was never seen. And that is how it shall remain, as long as you and the rest cooperate" he said as he proceeded to close the screen where David could be seen.
"NO! DAD!!"
"DAVID!!"
"PROFESSOR!!"
"As for the Main Three... the US media have already informed of their crime of concealment. Now the police and heroes of the country have orders to arrest them if they are seen in US territory again."
Nezu quickly checked the news on his phone. Shigaraki didn't lie: the news were already telling about an irregular action carried out by three famous Japanese heroes in New York, and the US government claimed they would ask Japan to take responsibility on the matter.
"I'm sorry, Midoriya. It would take a while for you and your friends to obtain permission to look for us in the US, and I don't think they are very willing to allow you do so after what happened. In other words, you better stick to my plan. And if you want to see your friends again, you better make sure Toga makes it back to the League unharmed" Shigaraki declared.
"Aww. I'm sure we will get on well until then" Toga giggled. "Just take care and don't trust that masked gorilla too much, okay?
"We'll bring you back soon, Toga. You know I always keep my word. It has been good to see you all, but I'm afraid I can't spend more of my time with you. Once again, nice to meet you, Miss Shield. Please, don't be upset. Just do as I asked you and we'll see each other sooner than you think" before Deku or anyone could say anything else the image of the villain disappeared and the connection was cut.
Deku, Uraraka, Mirio and All Might were the first to reach Melissa, who kept her lost sight on the now blank screen, while the guards pushed the stretcher and took Toga out of the room as she cried: "wheeeeee!"
The four heroes accompanied Melissa out of the room as soon as possible and looked for a more private place to talk.
"Come on, Melissa, you should have some rest" Uraraka kindly told her.
"None of us blame you for what has happened" Tamaki and Nejire appeared and joined them. "It is the League who had planned this."
"That's right" Mirio said, taking her shoulders "And if you think about it, it is thanks to you that Shigaraki doesn't have that information right now."
"I'm sorry for not having told you, young Midoriya" All Might apologized. He wasn't the only one he owed an apology for keeping something, though. "Mirio, Melissa and you will come with me: it is time I tell you about that file David was working on."
"Right. Meet us at the hospital, Mirio. We'll check the guys who are still there" his two best friends made their way to get out of there.
"All Might, if it has to do with... you know what..." Deku had no doubt that information had to do with the Quirk his mentor and him shared, "... now Ochako is aware of the secret too. She should..."
"It's okay, Deku" Uraraka said, smoothly touching her boy's shoulder. "Yes, now I know where your Quirk comes from, but it is still a private subject. If there is something that can help us you'll tell me later."
"But, Ochako... I do trust you..."
"Shh... I know you do. I'll see you later at the hospital, okay? Momo and Kyoka are still there" she casted her beautiful brown eye on the man who already treated her like his wife one more time before leaving.
"Guys... I need to tell you something too" Melissa finally said.
"But first I must tell you what contained that file your father was decoding" All Might interrupted her. "And in order to do that..." All Might sighed. That day he felt like a liar, keeping the truth from the people he cared most about, but was about to end for good. "... I must explain you how I got my Quirk..."
"That's what I mean, Uncle All Might" Melissa also seemed to be trying to find the words to speak her mind. "You see, there is one thing the video of I-Expo didn't record: when I interfered, the burglars had already entered Dad's computer and were about to get out of there with the information in a pendrive. After I fought them, well... I was curious and I had to check the content and decode it myself in secret..."
"Uh..." just when All Might thought there could be no surprises left, he felt about to faint again. "How much did you decode, exactly?"
"All of it" Melissa answered, making All Might's eyes wide open.
"So... is someone going to explain to us what you discovered?" Mirio asked.
"The first users of One For All recorded a journal about its story and development in their hands. It passed from the former to the next. It began with All For One's deceased brother and the last one was Nana Shimura, but I never knew about it until last year, when Gran Torino gave it to me. David was the only person in the world I trusted enough to entrust the decoding of this extensive file, so I had to tell him the truth."
"When I figured out, that both Deku and you were born Quirkless who received a great power for being considered worthy... I was kind of upset that Dad and you never told me... but after you and the Big Three risked themselves to protect me after they caught me at the concert, knowing they should have arrested me instead... I felt like I was in no position for recrimination..."
Deku couldn't help but feel guilty. He suffered the stigma of being Quirkless for half of his life and he wished nobody had to go through it, and yet Melissa had stayed like that for all her life and yet had become a brilliant and nice person who owed her success to none. As his friend he always felt at least she deserved to know she wasn't alone in that aspect.
"Please don't blame Izuku. I expressly asked him not to do it when I introduced you in the past. But it was for the greater good."
"Keeping things in secret for the greater good, huh?" Melissa sighed with sad irony. "I guess now that's how I ended up in this story of the masked secret hero... but now let's focus on the most urgent thing. To sum it up: I know everything about One For All. And we don't need to go back to I-Island" she raised her hand to show them a red watch, identical to the one Shigaraki had destroyed. "It is all here."
"Wow, that's great!" Mirio clapped. "That saves a lot of time and gives some advantage to us!"
"That's not all" Melissa continued and kept playing with the tactile screen of her watch "I invented this multipurpose watch myself, which shares model with the one my father was carrying. And before Shigaraki destroyed it, mine was able to receive the signal his emitted as one of its multiple applications. Deku was right: they contacted us from the US."
"Can you track the signal until the place where they were talking?" a hopeful Deku asked.
"I already have" Melissa almost cried out of relief when she showed the location appreciable on the screen to the three astonished heroes.
"Hawaii" Deku read in his head. The perfect place for a honeymoon with Ochako... if only they had managed to get married.
"Melissa, you are amazing" Mirio gasped. Thanks to her they were several steps closer to find their friends. "The question is: how are we going to enter there? The police will stop us as soon as they noticed those three Japanese heroes and their friends try to get any close to the islands..."
"Midoriya!" someone called them, making the four people turn and notice Mayor with a phone in his paw and a somehow doubtful look in his eyes. "I have a call for you..."
"For me? Who is it?"
"It's... well, you better hear it by yourself..." Nezu answered, as he tended his phone.
Intrigued, Deku picked it up and asked who was speaking. When the man on the phone answered on who's behalf he was calling him, the green haired hero froze. That person from whom Deku wouldn't have expected to receive a call in a million years, wanted to see him. Despite knowing what would have motivated that call, he didn't know what to expect.
It had been a day of many unexpected news, and apparently the day wasn't over.
End of chapter 23.
State of my mind: ....🧟🧟🧟🧟🧟...
I finally updated! I spent days trying to come up with the best ingredients and storytelling to continue this fanfic. Why? Because you are all cool, adorable and make me love this site, so I didn't update until I considered the chapter was as enjoyable as you deserve.
But seriously, as you can see there is much to this story than just Izuocha, so I want you to tell me if I'm not including enough cute moments of the titular couple and instead I am taking the plot too seriously. As you can imagine, I'm trying to give substance to the story so the ending we all want is as satisfying as it can be.
My own critic would be that the plot is still a bit too over the top and I still owe you more Kamijirou and Kirimina. Please don't hold back: sharing, votes, comments... anything.

I'll the opportunity to thank the anti bullying group founded by @Random_Dev52007 for including me. All of you are truly nice people and it is my pleasure to work with you to make people in trouble feel better.
I also want to thank @SuperAllstar16 for inviting me to join to his discord server,
and @TodorokiIsStraight for making a reference to Wedding Bells in his last story Kamari Ishazawa: The Universe Is Fucking Retarded and congratulate him for his first story, Rise of the New Generation is being considered to be turned into animated series in YouTube by Average Films.
I'll work in a fan art of the characters from Rise of the New Generation and show it here as soon as I can.
There it is! Just a concept art (not at my best, I may add) on how I imagine Ishazawa based on your description. You'll likely not be satisfied since it is your writing creation, but maybe we could help you to develop a cover for your last story:). I included the body composed of nanobots, the rocket boots, the arm turning into chainsaw and old Chris Jericho's hair just because. Don't worry I'll delete it immediately if you think it sucks 😹😹😹😹!!
This last one is a new writer here, so if you can go check his profile and stories. He's just beginning and your comments and opinions shall help him to develop his talent. Come on, don't be shy; we all were new here!
As for the rest of my followers and readers, I can only say thank you after reaching 62 followers and making Wedding Bells reach 15300 reads. I mean it Watties, without you this place wouldn't be this fun.
Anyway, I hope it was worth waiting for this chapter! Let me know as usual! See you!
