Chaos
July 8th, 12:45.
UA's rooftop.
"Uncle All Might!" Melissa went to him in a hurry. Her blue eyes were shinning with worry. "Have you seen Dad?"
"Oh my..." All Might then remembered. "David just went to..."
"I'M BACK!" David Shield's voice was heard as he returned from the toilet, allowing both his daughter and his friend let all the air out. Melissa had to hug her father, relieved he didn't find a Nomu when he was alone. "Wow, easy dear, I'm OK. What did I miss?" he asked.
"This is the Mayor. I call from the rooftop of the UA's High School" Nezu firmly talked to the officer on the phone. He lowered from the pedestal and left the altar where the engaged were doing their best to believe what was becoming of their wedding. "The UA is under the attack of experimental creatures known as Nomus. The heroes will contain them, but there are civilians and we'll need back up from the outside to put them safe..."
"To put it simple, the League of Villains is attacking us" All Might answered. His fists clenched in anger. It had been a long time since he faced any villain in a physical fight and the idea of not being able to help his children was killing. He wished he could transform into his muscular form for at least five minutes.
"This can't be happening" Uraraka thought as all her emotions silenced the words and sounds around Deku and her for a moment. "Please someone tell me this is Bakugou's wedding gift, a hidden camera, or..."
"OCHAKO!!"
Uraraka had no time to keep thinking, because another monstrously muscular Nomu got out from a recently opened portal, just where Nezu had been standing seconds ago. Fortunately, those two's coordination was near perfection with hardly any need to share a word. One For All's speed and strenght allowed Deku to catch the Nomu's fist and stop it before impact. The floor under their feet broke due to the beast's brutality, but he didn't lose his balance, enabling Uraraka to lay her hand on the Nomu. Once the creature's weight was gone and it had reached some height in the air, Deku jumped to grab the Nomu by its waist and turned it various times in the air before Uraraka released and he slammed the Nomu with all its heavy muscular mass against the ground, going through the rooftop and three floors below.
"Wow... I thought that wouldn't happen until the wedding night..." Sero joked, which caused him to receive an earphone stab from Jirou (a.n: before someone says that is a TOO adult joke, I'll have you know I took it from the Genie in Disney's Aladdin and the King of Thieves).
Uraraka was about to go down to help him, but more enemies were approaching from the air and getting out from portals. She would need mobility and there was no time to lose, so she quickly took off her veil, released her tied up brown hair and tore up the bottom of the dress (that last thing made Aoyama bite his fist to silence a cry at the sight of the ruined dress). By the time Deku climbed back to the rooftop, covered in dust after knocking the Nomu out, the place was already a battlefield where the heroes used their Quirks to fight the intruding creatures.
Uraraka hurried up to check her parents and Deku's mother behind the wall of ice Todoroki had created to keep them and everyone unable to fight safe. Nezu, Nejire and the Pussycats were there giving them instructions not to leave the place until help arrived.
"That includes you, All Might" Nezu stated in a serious tone.
"I'm a UA teacher! I can't stay here watching!" All Might replied. Even if he wasn't an active hero and didn't have a power he could use anymore the once Symbol of Peace wouldn't give in without a protest.
"Don't be ridiculous, Toshinori! You haven't been in a fight for ages!" Inko Midoriya disagreed.
"She's right. As the teachers we are we'll stay and take care of the civilians" Recovery Girl nodded and pulled All Might's wrist, like a grandmother would do with a rebellious child.
"Don't worry, Uncle All Might. I've got us covered" Melissa told him with determination as she took two small bracelets from her purse. She placed one of them around All Might's right hand and pressed the button that would turn it into a blue Full Gauntlet, which lend to a gasp from All Might, despite knowing the invention.
"I improved it. Originally it was meant to allow you to use your punches at your fullest, but now it can double or even triple the strength of its user. It also resists high temperatures and I still don't know how resistant it can be against physical attacks, but I can tell you it's far more than the one Deku tried when we met" she briefly exposed, placing the other one on her left and pressing the button. Melissa had worked hard to enter her father's league as an inventor, but also had trained her body and tried her own inventions in real fights, one of them in the very same I-Expo. Whatever All Might said she had proved she could handle herself in a fight just relying on her skills and creations, instead of a Quirk.
"Your talent lives up to your reputation, Miss Shield..." despite being now a grown up, Mirio was amazed like a child.
"Just Melissa, please" Melissa smilingly replied, all flattered.
"All right, Melissa!" Mirio said in his hundred per cent positive attitude and theatrically clenching his arms. "But promise me this time..."
"SSSSSHH!" All Might quietly hissed with the index in front of his lips before Mirio reminded that episode in New York in front of Melissa's father, who was looking at them with curiosity.
"I mean..." Mirio rectified. "Just promise me you'll only use that invention as a last resource! We heroes will take care of everything and clear the way so you can get out of the school unharmed!"
All Might felt a bit guilty. Deep in his heart he wished he could punch an enemy again. It was so difficult not to miss his Texas Smash or any other of his legendary moves...
"Is everyone OK?" Deku had arrived.
"Good thing you came!" Melissa received Deku handing him a metallic briefcase.
"What's this?"
"My wedding's gift! It looks like you are going to try it sooner than expected..." Melissa answered.
When Deku opened he found brand new accesories for the green costume he unfortunately wasn't wearing. However the gift included Full Gauntlets of the same colour, and a pair of similar gadgets for the legs, a black belt that would carry the equipment a hero could require (tape, bandages, lantern...) a reinforced mask that perfectly adjusted to his head and a dark green thin kevlar layer that was supposed to be worn under the costume, but for that moment it should do it over his now ruined wedding suit. All Might and Nejire would be as astonished as Deku if they hadn't seen a certain someone using a similar outfit days before.
"Thanks Melissa. I don't know what to say except it's perfect timing!" Deku cried as he equipped himself in a few seconds.
"My pleasure, Deku" Melissa had also brought a modernized version of the Uravity's costume for Uraraka. She was now changing her clothes covered by one of Camie's illusions, which would make her invisible to anyone looking for those minutes she would need.
"Deku!" Eri protested. "I'm not a small child anymore! I can't leave while you all stay here to protect me! I mean, I'll be a UA student in a few months!"
"There's nothing to argue, Eri!" Deku sternly stated. "You stay here until we find you and the rest a way out!"
He knew Eri would not be happy with his answer, but she was a reasonable girl Deku and the rest would always be proud of, and in the end she would trust and obey him. He had always been there to protect and look after her and there was no way she would let him down by recklessly putting herself into danger.
"Midoriya! Would you tell us what's happening?" Kota impatiently asked .
"You may call him "Deku", Kota! Right now he's a hero at work!" Much to Kota's jealousy, Eri was unsurprisingly calmed. That situation didn't seem too different from the battle where she was rescued from Overhaul years ago.
"Kota, listen" Deku said taking the grumpy boy by the shoulders. "I want you to stay close to Eri and make sure she's safe".
"I can help!" Kota complained. He wasn't a big friend of heroes in his childhood, but giving Deku a hand would be a different matter. "Last month I showed you what I can do with my Quirk on the beach!"
"We are not on the beach, Kota. And I can't fight an army of these creatures and have an eye on you at the same time. So, please stay here, take care of Eri, obey the Pros and you will all get out of here without a harm. Deal?" Deku wouldn't tell him the details about why they were after Eri, but Mandalay would spread the message through Telepathy to his companions, so her safety shouldn't be a problem. He just wanted everyone safe while they did their work.
"Deal..." Kota reluctantly accepted, deviating his eyes. "You... come back in one piece..."
"That's my boy" Deku smiled and petted his red hat, before leaving "There's no need to worry. After all I have you on my corner!" he placed his new mask-helmet on his head and got ready for action. The Water Hose's child hadn't brought the subject to the table yet, but Deku knew he had the potential to become one of them. And with Eri taking his softer side to the surface one of those days he would have to admit maybe he would be a little interested in his parents' footsteps. He finally addressed to his mother and his mentor.
"Izuku, please..." Inko pleaded.
"Fear not, Mom. I'm not the same from the Festival or the Training Camp". No matter how bad Deku was injured in the past; his mother always suffered more because of it and he always hated himself when it happened.
"All Might, I need you to..."
"Your mother's safety is in good hands, young Izuku. The rest is up to you" All Might declared showing his right arm covered by Melissa's blue gadget. "Now go beyond!"
"PLUS ULTRA!" Deku completed the quote as All Might and him bumped fists.
Uraraka and him left the ice shelter and looked at each other in resignation. As hard as it was, the celebration was over and the scenario was totally different now.
"Ready to go, Uravity?" asked Deku forcing himself to smile. His girlfriend had always been a strong woman and would not let her emotions distract her from doing their duty, and as All Might's successor he wouldn't be less.
"All right... let's teach these baddies the meaning of "private ceremony"!" Uraraka said before checking the field. "You and me will talk later..." she added in her occasional but characteristic eerie tone, making Deku gulp. Every person would be wise to fear the wrath of the nicest girl on Earth. "Just... don't get hurt, okay?" her tone returned to be soft and also a little concerned this time. All she had wished that day was to mark the beginning of a new life with Deku and it bothered her he had been distracted by work. But it wasn't his fault things had ended up that way.
Despite the situation, Uraraka never failed to warm Deku's heart. "I won't..." he told her. They were standing next to each other closer than necessary, almost face to face with the person they were meant to marry that day. It was hard not to get a little sentimental. "And you won't either. Not while I am here..." he told her with all the sincerity in the world. Once again they were heroes in action, and that meant no hugs, kisses, cuddles or tender eyes should be allowed. But in that situation, an exception to the rule would really matter?
The cute moment was interrupted by a flying Nomu that was killed off by a last explosion and clash landed next to them, with the world's angriest hero in the world on top.
" YOU TWO!! I swear if I see one single peck or tear now we are working, this winged piece of crap would look lucky in comparison!!" Bakugou yelled at them before using his Quirk to jump to one of the black helicopters and proceed to blast it.
"Nice to see you too, Bakugou..." Uraraka pouted.
Deku rolled his eyes, but Bakugou was right. They must focus, so he kissed his fiancée's forehead and went to reunite with Mirio, his superior in the agency.
"EVERYONE, COVER!!" Jirou shouted when she heard the machine guns of two of the villains' helicopters getting ready to open fire over them. Todoroki immediately reinforced the ice wall that would protect all the attending civilians, including the children. Momo created an iron plank big enough to cover Jirou, Iida and herself, and Uraraka and others overthrown a table to cover themselves behind them and Tsuyu used her tongue to rapidly remove an hysterical Mineta from the shooting area (making him land in the punch-bowl) while Kirishima and Tetsutetsu hardened their bodies and positioned themselves in the way of the black helicopter's shots to protect the rest of the people. Monoma used his Copy Quirk and joined the human shield they had created, since the shooting was so intense they could hardly stand their ground. Mirio's Penetration Quirk would allow him to reach one of the helicopters, come through its surface and clean it up from the inside, with the bullets not touching him at all, so he wasted no time. Done this, Todoroki carefully came closer and froze it in the middle of its fall so it didn't hurt anyone.
"ARGH!! THIS TICKLES!!" Kirishima groaned, as the three guys sticked together and endured the bullets' impact.
At the sight of the situation, Deku run at high speed and grabbed the tail of the helicopter with his own hands so it didn't come any closer to them.
"MOVE KIRISHIMA!! MONOMA AND I CAN HANDLE THIS!!" cried Tetsutetsu.
"What about a little push, Pinky?" Uraraka had to shout to make herself heard.
"Now you are talking!" Mina energetically answered with a grin.
The two friends got out from behind the table and Uraraka laid her hand on the alien girl's back. Mina took advantage of her temporal lose of weight to jump high over the helicopter that was invading the rooftop and secreted acid with her hands over the machine guns, melting and disabling them before gently landing on her feet like the skilled athlete she was. Deku held the helicopter from behind as Kirishima jumped towards the helix and tore it away and Tokoyami used Dark Shadow to penetrate into the vehicle and take the pilot and some armed henchmen out.
The heroes had definitely turned into examples of cooperation. Shoji had modeled his limbs so he could glide through the air with Kaminari on his back, who was shooting electric shocks to all the flying Nomus that spitted fire, acid or other things to the people in the ground, like a child in a videogame. Mineta, on his behalf, and not without some whining, had allowed Ojiro to use his tail to catapult him to one of those flying creatures. As the pervert loudly complained and prayed for his life he found the will to use his purple spheres to glue himself to the weak head of the Nomu and do his best to "pilot" it and go against the rest.
Aoyama was using his laser to shoot the flying Nomus, but the stomachache due to the overuse of his Quirk was starting to pay off and the terrestrial gigantic ones were surrounding them. Knowing this, Momo came up with an idea:
"Everyone stay down! Hey, Shinning Hero!" she announced as she proceeded to create a big spherical object that may seem out of place, but not to Aoyama. "Do you know what this is for?"
"Twinkle, twinkle, little star..."
"Oui!" the French rooted hero immediately understood Momo's intention and nodded. "So... I... can't... stop..." when she threw the crystal disco ball upside Aoyama ignored his dizziness and shot one last time towards the object. The result was that the tiny mirrors of the sphere reflected the laser and many of the enemies received the impact of dozens of lightings.
"TWINKLING!" he concluded with a yellow face covered in sweat and his stomach roaring.
As soon as they got up again and came back to back, Deku punched and Todoroki flamed the remaining Nomus out of the rooftop. They would likely survive the fall, but that would give them time so the police could come and take their familiars out of the school via helicopter, or at least think of a plan.
While most of the heroes battled on the rooftop, Bakugou was having his personal fun using his explosions to move from one enemy helicopter to another and blowing them to pieces without losing his unnerving wide smile. Luckily, Ryūko had joined the air battle in her dragon form and made sure none of the criminal on board the helicopters were terribly hurt after the spiky haired hero's devastating attacks. He was bringing down his third armed helicopter. It wasn't that hard when one was so careless about the villains who piloted them.
"HEY EXTRAS! YOU MAY WANNA TO STEP ASIDE!" he loudly called the heroes fighting at the base of the building. Tamaki and Sato (who had in tears eaten part of the wedding cake to earn the strength he would need to fight an army of Nomus) had come down from the rooftop helped by Uraraka and were making the best use of their Quirks against the enemy when they saw the helicopter plummeting and crashing against the ground just some meters from them, catching some of the monsters below.
"That was uncivilized..." muttered Tamaki before wrapping another Nomu in his tentacles. However he wasn't expecting what happened next: suddenly long and thin spikes sprouted out of all its body and forced him to remove the tentacles at the end of his hand in pain.
"Wow, that's something new..." Sato was surprised and not at all amused when the rest of the monsters took a moment to do the same. "And it isn't good..."
"Dammit!" when the steel spiked Nomus charged against the heroes Bakugou went back to create explosions. "Do I have to do it all myself, as usual!?"
He regretted saying that though, since Todoroki had just used his right to sky a way of ice to where they were, but then huge flames that didn't come from Todoroki's left, fell over the Nomus, almost reducing them to ashes. The red and white haired wasn't very happy to see his father among all people to interfere.
"Shoto! Bakugou! Come with me! There is a place next to the school's wall that the civilians could use as a way of escape! No Nomus are on the outside! We only have to clear the area!"
Todoroki nodded and informed his companions in the rooftop about the plan. Eri was the aim of the League, so she would be a priority in the evacuation.
Later, not far from there...
Ryūko had just landed carrying Camie, Eri, Kota, as well as Tsuyu's siblings, Samidare and Satsuki Asui, to the place where Endeavor and the rest had pointed in the map. Camie always found herself comfortable when it came to deal with children and thanks to her Quirk they were able to fly until they reached the spot without the Nomus or the helicopters noticing them. Once there, they found a breach in the wall and a police helicopter ready to take them.
"We made it kids!" the dragon said as they run. "Now this is the easiest part! Stay close to them, Cam...!" Ryūko didn't end the sentence. A giant blue flame had reached her and knocked her down.
"DON'T LOOK BACK!" Camie cried. She wasn't particularly well skilled at combat, but she would protect them with her life. The Asui kids were already aboard the helicopter, and Eri and Kota were coming closer... until a ring of that infernal blue fire surrounded them and put an end to the two friends' run.
"Leaving so soon?" Dabi asked in his charming yet threatening voice. Nobody could miss his long black coat, his face covered in surgical scars and evilly mocking persona and every hero recognized him as one of the most dangerous and powerful members of the League. He wasn't alone. Next to him there was a seven feet tall muscular man in a red a black leather outfit matched his high black boots with spikes. His biceps looked like tree trunks and his big hands were covered in black gloves. To finish his intimidating appearance, his face was covered by a red and black mask that only left sight to a greasy long and black hair and two cruel and spine chilling gray eyes. Camie had never seen that man or whatever he was before.
"Eri, Kota: stay behind me" she told them. Back in Shiketsu Camie was seen by many as a absent minded and idiotically innocent girl, but in truth she had an iron will and a calmed demeanor to face intricate situations. And that was exactly what she would need.
"Give me the girl and I will not need to cremate you to death" Dabi lighted a small flame on his hand and menacingly played with his fingers.
"Sure. You wouldn't do that unless you needed to, would you?" Dabi raised an eyebrow when he saw Deku and Bakugou entering the circle of fire, since they had been reported to be fighting in other places
"Come any close to them and you are dead, you freak!" Bakugou's image and voice was as perfect as it could be, but her two opponents didn't look totally convinced. Camie just hoped her illusions could trick them for a while.
"Kids!" she muttered. "If they figure out before time, get ready to..."
Camie had never felt so relieved to hear the explosions with which Bakugou (the real one) used to announce his arrival. Even better, Todoroki and Endeavor had jumped over the blue flames and were now standing behind Dabi and the giant stranger, who turned to see them join the fight. The fire that Dabi projected over them could have killed dozens of people, but dozens of people's strength wouldn't have been enough to move the block of ice a Todoroki created to stop it. Once again Bakugou highly jumped over the place thanks to his Quirk and positioned himself in front of Camie.
"Hey Camie!" Bakugou teasingly told her when he reached them. "Tell the nerd and that handsome son of a bitch to go away! You know better than anyone that I am one of a kind!"
"This doesn't mean I'm not mad anymore, Katsuki" Camie half smiled. "But I'm really glad to see you".
"Excuse me? You mad? Babe, I know what you were doing at the ceremony, and let me tell you you could give your Quirk a far better use that to make me jealous" Bakugou reminded her.
"Huh? I don't know what you mean..." Camie looked puzzled.
"Don't worry, I forgive you" Bakugou cut her and looked back at Dabi and the masked man. "And you, brat!" he addressed to Kota, who was behind. "Don't you have a water Quirk? Do something useful, dammit!"
"Oh yes... nice to meet you, kid" Dabi grinned in a sinister way when he identified the Water Hose's child. "I believe the League and you have a friend in common". Kota's breath was cut. He knew exactly who the young man in black was referring to. "He is around here too. Aren't you going to say hello to him?" he asked with a grin as cold as his soul.
"Kota!" Eri finally spoke, making him come back to reality. "Let's get out of here, like Deku said!"
Kota quickly grabbed Eri by the hand, used his Quirk to open a breach on the surrounding fire and both of them started to run again. The area out of the flames was chaotic again, with heroes and policemen containing the enemies, but after a few minutes of tension they reached the police helicopter where detective Tsukauchi helped them to get in.
"Thank God! There are all! We are leaving!" Tsukauchi announced to the pilot, who started to take off.
"That was great, Kota!" Eri happily praised her friend. "Don't worry! Now Deku, Lelimillion, Uravity and the rest will save the day and meet us later!"
However, Kota didn't seem to be listening to her. He was just standing in front of the still open gate of the helicopter with an angry look and a tense face. Eri looked at him with concern.
"Kota...?"
"I'll see you later" he icily said, like he was talking to himself instead of Eri. To Eri's horror, now they were several feet above the ground Kota jumped and used his Water Quirk to stop the fall and rapidly move himself back to the danger zone.
"WHAT!? No!! What are you doing!?"
"KID!! Where are you going!?" the detective cried in terror. "Pilot! Land back!" Then his terror only increased. "ERI!!" he could only cried when she also jumped to go after Kota. The height wasn't big but it was enough to twist her ankle when she landed on her feet. Aching in pain, she used her Rewind Quirk to heal her ankle and started to run after Kota.
"KOTA! COME BACK HERE!!" she screamed, but Kota was already too far to hear it, so she penetrated even more into the violent environment that was the UA at that moment. The detective himself went after them but suddenly a new circle of blue fire was closed in front of him and cut his way, making him back down due to the high temperature.
"Whoops..." Dabi smilingly shrugged on the other side of the fire. The Man had told him he could leave those heroes to him, and knowing which his Quirk was, Dabi knew for sure nor Endeavor or any of them stood a chance against that monster.
The detective stood in impotence in front of the blue flames. He told his colleagues to inform the rest about the situation via radio and picked up his phone. All he could do was to warn All Might and pray Eri and Kota were found soon enough. Now the kids were trapped inside the perimeter, this time with no hero guarding them.
End of chapter 18.
Phew! Here it is! I think the last chapter was quite boring, so I had to give a better effort for this one. After all I've kept you waiting, I hope it doesn't disappoint.
I turned the UA into a battlefield. If drawing it should be hard, imagine turning it into writing! And this part isn't done yet, as you can see. Kota has now given me even more work to do...😣😣😣
Anyway, I hope to have regained your attention with these chaotic action sequence where even I found hard to know what was going on! 🤯🤯 Bear in mind I'm trying to give time to all the characters I can.
Enough with just the comedic and romantic relief! Isn't it time to insert the real tension? If I can't give you that, then I don't deserve to be called Honest Fiction!!
Thanks for reading the story, as well as for voting, commenting and adding it to your lists, as thanks to my new followers too!
See you soon, Watties!!
