Located in the Eastern Sea of Pandora, the Metkayina Clan was a distinct clan within the broader Na'vi society, characterised by their unique way of life and connection to the sea. Also known as the 'Reef People' the Metkayina Na'vi possessed exceptional diving and swimming skills and evolved close bonds with oceanic fauna including the gigantic leviathans known as Tulkun.

Alazaye Te Ifmo Eyme'ite was like every other member of the clan, utilising the skills she had been taught from a young age to assist the clan where they were needed. The young Na'vi was graceful, outgoing and open-minded, making her the perfect best friend to the future Tsahìk, Tsireya.

Life in Awa'atlu was peaceful for the clan until Jake Sully and his family came to the Eastern Sea seeking Uturu with the Metkayina village.

Being granted sanctuary by Tonowari and Ronal, the Sully children were taught the clan's ways, including Ilu Riding and free diving by Ao'nung, Tsireya, Roxto and Alazaye. And as her bonds with the Sully children grew, slowly, so did Alazaye's inclination for the family's two sons. Neteyam and Lo'ak.
