Arrival Of Toruk Makto

Another beautiful day had risen upon Awa'atlu.

The sun cast its warm golden glow across the landscape, as anticipation for the new day reached a fevered pitch.

Most of the clan had already risen with the sun and was about doing their routines, like the days before and like they would be in the days that followed.

The waters that surrounded the islands of the water Na'vi clans, rippled as waves from outside of the reef crashed against the barriers, occasionally some of the waves would be high enough to crash over the barrier and the water would fall onto the opposite side.

Once again out of their Ilu's, Tsireya and Alazaye leisured around the crystal blue waters. Vibrato pitched cooes coming from the majestic creatures as they glided underneath the surface of the ocean with their handlers.

The two girls where kept busy and content throughout the morning, whispering about their little venture outside the reef they'd down within the previous week. They hadn't been caught, and had keep it hushed to themselves. Not even daring to speak of it around Ao'nung and his friends.

And then, from over the distance at the brightest hour of the day, a small cluster of Ikrans, belonging to the Sully family, soared through the blue sky catching the attention of the few Na'vi that where out on the edge of the reef. Eyes watching as the mountain banshees headed for the main island.

Getting closer and closer, more of the Metkayina people who where within the close proximity to their homes caught sight of the Sully family as they approached. Murmurs were echoed amongst clan members, wondering the reason behind the newcomers arrival at the reef.

They were different from the Na'vi of the Metkayina, dressed in attire that spoke of their own unique backgrounds and histories. The air buzzed with speculation about why they had come to Awa'atlu.

Clan members called their Ilu's to them and rode to the patch of sand where the Sullys landed on their Ikrans. While a seashell horn was blown by a member of the clan, officially announcing their presence to the Metkayina people.

"Who are they?" Tsireya queried as she and Alazaye watched on their Ilu's as the Ikrans circled around before landing.

"Let's get closer and find out" Ala urged, disconnecting her queue from her Ilu before gracefully diving off the creature and into the ever blue and clear water. Tsireya followed her friend, and both girls swam up to the sandbanks.

By the time the two girls had approached the shallow waters that led up to the patch of sand, a large crowd had already formed around the Sullys.

Hopping off their Ilu's, both girls dived under the water before reemerging once they reached the sandbanks.

Tsireya was the first of the two girls to reach the sand, and quickly saw Rotxo and Ao'nung mocking the outsiders tails. "It's too small, how are they supposed to swim?" He voiced, pointing at the boys tails which made Ao'nung chuckle. Tsireya slapped Rotxo's arm, making him jump back slightly.

"Do not. Rotxo, Ao'nung" She scolded the boys.

Despite being the one that had urged Tsireya to move closer in order to obtain a better view of what was happening on the sand, Alazaye had stop in her tracks while walking up the sandbanks.

Her attention, which was something that was rarely held for long, was drawn to the two male Na'vi who looked to be her age. Although the one that stood closest to Ao'nung, Rotxo and Tsireya did give off the aura of being the oldest to Ala.

Brushing back some of her wet braids, she regained herself and joined her friends as they stood around the Sullys. Her blue eyes looked over the family, but instead of holding judgement like the clan members around her did, hers held intrigue.

Standing beside Tsireya, Alazaye's eyes continued to flit back and forth between the two brothers. Their appearances, along with their entire family's, differed slightly from the Metkayina mien.

Whereas the sea-based Na'vi had more of a teal-green skin, the Sully family's skin was a vibrant blue. There where some other distinctions such as their yellow eyes that vibrantly stood out amongst the almost entirely blue ones that made up the clan and their thinner arms in contrast to Metkayina people's broader and more finned forearms, the better for treading water with.

"Hey" The younger of the two boys nodded at the girls.

Alazaye and Tsireya caught each others eye, before they both chuckled softly at his attempt to be charming.

Coming in on his Skimwing, Tonowari let out some small bellows as his large blue-grey creature flew over the Sullys and the large circle of his people that had surrounded them, before guiding the Skimwing to touch down on the water.

The commanding leader slowly walked up onto the beach, his long spear in his grasp.

"I see you, Tonowari" Jake Sully greeted the Olo'eyktan with the gesture of extending his hand from his forehead down towards Tonowari.

"Jake Sully" The Metkayina leader faintly nodded.

Neytiri, along with Neteyam and Lo'ak, also gave the hand sign to greet the Reef People's leader.

Stepping through the crowd, came Ronal. Who cautiously observed the family on the sand as she took her spot in standing beside her mate.

Not missing a beat, Jake and the others also greeted Tonowari's mate and Tshaìk. "I see you, Ronal. Tsahìk of the Metkayina"

"Why do you come to us, Jake Sully?" Tonowari then inquired, to the head of the Sully family.

Glancing back at his family for a moment, Jake turned back to the clan leaders. "We seek Uturu" He proclaimed, extending out his arms widely.

"Uturu?" Ronal repeated just before looking up at Tonowari, as if she couldn't believe what Jake had just declared.

"Yes, sanctuary for my family" Jake implored.

Sharing another look between them, Ronal stepped forward and began to walk around the Sullys while Tonowari spoke. "We are Reef People, you are Forest People. You're skills will mean nothing here"

"Well, we will learn your ways" Jake alleged. "Am I right?" He turned to Neytiri.

"Yes" She let out, just as Ronal seemingly examined her tail.

The Tsahìk then moved on to the youngest Sully child, Tuktirey. "Their arms are thin" She remarked, grabbing the young girl's arm and causing Tuk to scramble away from Ronal towards her parents.

Ronal then moved to the other daughter, Kiri. "Their tails are weak" She added as she grabbed the young teen's tail.

Kiri let out a small 'ow' from the slight tug on her tail from Ronal, before yanking her tail back away.

"You will be slow in the water" Ronal declared, mostly to Jake and Neytiri.

Then, her eyes glanced down, catching the sight of Kiri's five fingered hands. "These children, are not even true Na'vi" She grabbed and held up Kiri's hands, showing them off to the other clan members.

Quiet gasps where heard amongst the crowd that had gathered. The crowd of sea Na'vi that surrounded the Sullys suddenly growing skittish and shifting back and forth on their feet.

"Yes we are" Kiri challenged as Ronal dropped her hands.

Jake watched the Tsahìk carefully, obviously not amused by her grabbing his children.

Seeing that Lo'ak, the youngest son and the boy that had nodded at Alazaye and Tsireya, also had five fingers, Ronal then moved to him and held up one of his hands. "They have demon blood!"

Even more gasps and even hisses came from the crowd, many Na'vi even stepping back away from the Sullys. Mumbling amongst themselves.

Alazaye watched as the younger teen boy's jaw clenched as pursed his lips and had his head down, clearly not pleased with what Ronal was doing.

Having seen enough, Jake then held up his own hand and showed off the five fingers on his. "Look, look!" He directed Ronal's attention away from his kids and to him. "Look, I was born of the Sky People, and now I am Na'vi" He explained. "Alright? You can adapt" He added.

"We will adapt" The adult male spoke to Tonowari along with the rest of the Metkayina people. Again, Ronal slowly walked around the family. Now appearing to scrutinise Jake.

Neytiri then made her voice heard. "My husband was Toruk Makto" She boasted, although Jake's face did scrunch up at her mention of his title. "He led the clans to victory against the Sky People" Her voice thick with emotion.

"This you call victory?" Ronal recited back at her, looking between the two mates. "Hiding among strangers"

Neytiri's ears flatted back and her gaze lowered at the retaliation. Ronal stepped closer to her. "It seems Eywa has turned her back on you, Chosen One"

A hiss then came from Neytiri, her teeth barring in defence of her mate, at the Metkayina Tsahìk. Ronal snarled back at her, who also had her teeth showing.

Neither seeming willing to back down easily.

Jake moved to intervene before things got out of hand between the two women. "I apologise for my mate, she's..."

"Do not apologise for me" Neytiri argued.

"-Flown a long way, and she's exhausted" Jake vouched, giving his wife a stare with his eyes wide. Speaking to her through them and making her back down. Ronal also backed off, going to stand back near Tonowari.

"Toruk Makto is a great war leader. All Na'vi people know his story" Tonowari exclaimed to his people, his hand briefly grabbing Jake's shoulder in acknowledgement. "But we Metkayina are not at war" He elaborated to the clan.

As the Olo'eyktan turned back to the Sully family, Jake lifted and held Tuk up in his arms. "We cannot let you bring your war here"

"I'm done with war, okay?" Jake professed to the taller Na'vi leader. "I just wanna keep my family safe" He appealed one final time to Tonowari and Ronal.

The Olo'eyktan and Tsahìk looked at one another. Tonowari sighed as he turned himself further towards his mate, seeing that she was still reluctant to let the Sully family have sanctuary within their home.

But seeing her husband's decision made up, she put her unwavering trust into him and gave a single nod of her head.

Tonowari inhaled as he again faced his people. "Toruk Makto and his family will stay with us. Treat them as our brothers and sisters" He implored. "Now, they do not know the sea, so they will be like babies taking their first breath"

"Teach them our ways so they do not suffer the shame of being useless" He added.

At his acceptance of them to stay, Alazaye again curiously glanced over to the family. She, nor anyone else within the clan, had not a clue of what it would be like to have outsiders now living amongst them. Adapting to the ways of water.

Jake let out a soft chuckle, his face showing gratitude towards the leaders. "Okay, what do we say?" He instructed to his family.

"Thank you" Tuk sweetly smiled, as more echoes of thank you's came from the Sully family. Although, an eye roll did come from Kiri as she mumbled her's.

"My son, Ao'nung, our daughter, Tsireya, will show your children what to do" Tonowari gestured to his children who also stood beside their father.

While Tsireya smiled at the Sullys, Ao'nung didn't seem at all pleased by the role of tutor his father had just given him.

"Father why do-" Ao'nung attempted to object only for his father to cut him off. "It is decided" He said firmly to his son.

Tsireya stepped forward. "Come, I will show you our village" She beamed. "Ala, come with me please?" She offered to her best friend.

Even though she was under no obligation to join and help Ao'nung and Tsireya in assisting the Sully children, Alazaye agreed regardless. One because Tsireya had asked for her company, and there wasn't anything she would say no to involving her best friend. And two because she was interested getting to know the family.

-

Ilu's trilled in the water underneath the Marui's that where built in the mangrove-like trees just off the shore, as the Sully family where lead to their own pod.

Each member lugged stuff that they'd brought with them, and just to be helpful, Tsireya and Alazaye also carried some of their belongings as they guided them along.

Under one arm, Alazaye held a few baskets that where filled with their possessions and other little miscellanea items from the Sully's home Pandora's forest. While in the other she gripped a beautifully woven pouch.

From their own pods, members of the clan watched with beady eyes as the Sullys walked through.

"This way" Tsireya acknowledged to the family behind them. "Just up here" The two girls directed them along just a little further, bringing them to their designated Marui.

It was almost completely over the water, rocks, seaweed and other marine life visible from the weaved walkway between huts that dipped with a bounce under their steps.

Alazaye and Tsireya stopped outside the hut. "This is for you, your new home"

Ahead of the rest of his family, Jake entered the Marui first and checked it out. "Yeah, this will work" He confirmed. "This is great, it's nice right?" He asked, although the question seemed predominantly aimed at Neytiri.

Stepping inside, Neytiri stared around the Marui before dropping the rug she'd been carrying with a sigh.

While the Sully kids also checked out their large hut, Tsireya and Alazaye set down the boxes, knapsacks and other items that they'd carried to the Marui, to help out the Sullys.

Before they could leave to let the family settle into their new location, a sudden low cooing sound that morphed into a gentle trilling came from the water just behind them on the weaved walkway.

The reverberations were from Alazaye's Ilu.

She let out a small yip of surprise at seeing her Ilu in the water just below the Sully's new place of residence in the Metkayina clan, before a soft grin came across her features. Ala's hand reached out and stroked her sea creature's head before moving down even further to caress the aquatic reptilian's long neck.

With Alazaye's attention on her Ilu, Tsireya was the one to notice that the two Sully sons where watching her best friend lavish attention onto her Ilu.

The Tsakarem's lips curled subtly, seeming to pick up on the gentle looks that both Neteyam and Lo'ak were directing to Alazaye. An allude to the possibility of something between the three teenagers.
