Grating wind whistled past the frosted windows on the corner shops of the Hogsmeade village. Though it was the middle of March, the jarring reality of December's weather still seemed present on the ground of Hogwarts.
Students flooded the area, all bundled up in tight knitted clothes or holding onto the arm of a lover, clinging for warmth. The gooey romance obsessed couples of the school trip occupied Madam Puddifoot's Tea Shop for the most part. The Tea Shop was the ideal locations for dates but as George Weasley and his girlfriend Y/n stood outside the pink polished building, it didn't appear as such a dream spot.
A beautifully decorated cake with a large over-sized sun flower bloomed out from the middle of the dessert was on display in the front window along with a list of all the various tea flavors, coffee drinks and specialties served.
Y/n peered at the roll and cringed,
"I don't recall ever drinking a 'lovers bean dream tea' before... that's sounds quite disgusting. Don't they have anything normal here, like maybe green tea or mint... I don't mind even a sweet rose tea right now." She spoke lightly not wanting her peers to hear her complaints seeing that most of them loved the tea served so much. It wasn't that Y/n hated their tea- honestly she had never stepped foot in the shop before only examined it as she wondered by to Honeydukes.
George was in a similar position. Once or twice he had ambled into Madam Puddifoot's, but never had he'd stayed long enough to finish his drink. Him and Fred would always ditch out with whoever else was accompanying them and scope out Zonko's spending the rest of the day their. Though it was nearing Y/n and George's third year anniversary and they insisted on doing something... fun, and when the idea of the shop full of overly cheerful couples, they both agreed to at least give it a shot.
"Y'know the 'i love you berry much tea' doesn't sound so too bad. Cheesy yes, but not horrible. Also they have poppy seed bread and chocolate fudge muffins, you love those! Now c'mon let's go in!" George enthused holding his arm out and escorted the tensed girl into the bright shop.
"I can't believe we're doing this! We always make fun of the couples that hang around here, and now we are one of the couples that hang around here! God, what if someone we know sees us... this is gonna be so embarrassing and-" Her rant was cut short as a pair of hands settle against either sides of her face.
"Darling, just relax. It's fine, nothings going to happen and if one of our friends do see us and they make a snide remark they won't get a rise out of me, because at least if I'm caught in this mushy, over-sentimental place, I'll be with the most gorgeous girl in the room... scratch that- most gorgeous girl in the universe! Now let's go find a seat and have a real actual date." With that he reached down and placed his steady plump lips against Y/n's soft ones and kissed her with so much passion she had to hold onto the side railing for balance so she wouldn't topple over.
George's hands slowly made their way up to Y/n's hair grasping it between his fingers and deepening their embrace. Y/n moved her lips lovingly against George's and managed to work her path to resting her locked hands around his neck. But a sudden clearing of the throat and timid tap on George's shoulder caused the pair to pull back from each other flustered, forgetting for a moment that they were in public.
Jamie Thompson, a sixth year Hufflepuff who had been hired to help around the shop on weekend and days she wasn't too flooded with homework, sheepishly spoke to the two,
"Uh, I, um, sorry to interrupt you guys but um you're kind of um- it's just you two are b-blocking the uh front door and well you two can do all that at you're table it's-" Y/n released her hold around her boyfriends neck and moved them to his arm ready to lead him to an open table.
"No I'm sorry, our fault. No worries!" George chuckled clearly enjoying Jamie's awkward approach and positioned his grasp on Y/n's hips leading her from behind to a red clothed table towards the back of the room with single pink rose petals scattered on the top surrounding a candle. Y/n looked to her side tyring to read the expression on George's face but got nothing.
"It's um... nice." He stated blandly.
"Yeah, nice." The other students were chatting away merrily though few mirrored George and Y/n's uncomfortable manner.
"Georgie are you sure you want to do this? I wouldn't mind spending the evening at Zonko's. I know it's your favorite! Or Scrivenshaft's," Y/n wiggled her slim eyebrows towards George who smiled faintly covering his face,
"I could buy you a new quill! Or Spintwitches, I can buy you a knew pair of gloves for Quidditch as an anniversary gift! You know that sounds like a perfect idea let's head out now." Y/n buttoned her jacket back up and moved to head for the door, well she would've if George hadn't been so quick to pull her back, smashing his lips against hers yet again, though this time with more lust and eagerness. He had caught Y/n off guard so much that it took her a a good chunk of time to react and kiss back.
"No Y/n, we're not. First off, I don't need you spending any money on me and secondly we're going to have an over the top, magical date together here. We're going to act like those stupid sappy couples we make fun of because sometimes it's fun and I love you and you're the one making this date tolerable and the reason I'm here. So no, we're not settling for Zonko's or Spintwitches or the Common Room or anywhere else but here because you're beautiful and my favorite person in the world, and you deserve a nice date with some sweet tea and muffins. Now, I'm ready to order... how about you, love?" Y/n nodded softly, still filled with shock.
"I still can't believe we're doing this."
