Chapter - 25
Gwangju, South Korea.
The streets of Gwangju were gleaming in the late afternoon sunlight. A matt-black Rover was running on the street with an atypical slow pace. Hoseok told the stone-faced driver to drive carefully when the car left the highway and caught a narrowed street. Mina wasn't talking much throughout the journey from Seoul to his hometown, she was just sitting beside him with a gloomy face.
"Mina, do you want something to drink? Your favourite orange juice can be arranged." Hoseok said while looking outside at the street stores. He tried to hold his wife's soft hands into his own, some moments ago but she just pulled away her hands as soon as she felt the touch.
"No." Mina answered faintly. She tried to focus on the outside scenarios but all the roadside buildings and stores felt the same to her, so she focused on her handkerchief instead, which she was holding loosely over her lap.
"Are you still angry with me?" Hoseok spoke with a tender tone. "Mina, you're right, I really am a monster." He sighed and looked at his front. "I should have thought of our future before doing this horrible job."
"I didn't mean it Hoseok-ssi," Mina said after a long pause, "I was just scared that you're going to become like your dad." This time she initially held his hand and put it on his lap, playing with the fingers to convey her true feelings.
"Mina, living is hard, living a mafia's life is harder" Hoseok slightly pressed her hands and said while looking into her eyes, "but i promise that I'll change myself, I won't end our lives this miserably."
"Please save those people Hoseok-ssi, unless their families will curse us, we can't live happily further." Mina wiped a salty droplet as it came across her meek eyes. "I just want our child to grow up in a normal family, surrounded by love and happiness."
"Please give me some more days Mina, I promise that I'll convince dad to leave this dirty business soon." Hoseok put his other hand over his wife's womb, smiled sadly and said, "I promise you too little one that I'll be a good dad for you."
"Promise me one more thing Hoseok-ssi, you'll take care of yourself, hmm? The next time when we shall meet, I want to see you healthy." Mina rested her head over Hoseok's shoulder, a single tear rolled down on her cheek. She held his hand more tightly as they came in front of Mina's parents house.
"Taemin, leave us alone for now. I'll call you after sometime." Hoseok firmly said to his driver as he parked the car outside of the house. The driver obeyed. "Mina, you too take good care of yourself and the baby. If you want to see me then don't hesitate to call me, If you need anything else, then call me before anyone. Ok? " Hoseok pulled her to his arms and hugged her softly, resting his head on her shoulder.
"I love you Hoseok-ssi, I'm sorry." Mina said in between her sobs. She rubbed her tears on Hoseok's shirt over his shoulder and kissed his neck.
Hoseok returned the favor by kissing her all over her mouth and face. Finally when he kissed her forehead, he said for the last time before coming out of the car, " Your love has given me so much strength Mina-ssi, now I'll only follow the lead of my heart and try to make things right. I'll come back when I do something good and make you proud." Mina just nodded with a happy smile and again hugged him tightly.
Chicago, USA.
The sunny and cheerful Chicago weather outside made the love birds come out of their nest. Jungkook and Taehyung finally decided to move their lazy ass to roam around the city. Taehyung was wearing one of Jungkook's shirts, as Jungkook told him that he looked sexy wearing oversize shirts. They started from hopping on a big double-decker open space bus to explore the streets. Then entered the Shedd Aquarium, when the sun was up in the sky, radiating all of its glorious heat but as soon they entered the building, the cool temperature inside made them cool instantly.
Taehyung was amazed to see all of the under sea creatures at once. A giant Pacific octopus grabbed his attraction, he came to know that it's called Haraldmeier's Mantella. Other things like gymnarchus, blue iguana, starfish, seahorses, penguins, also made him awstucked. Jungkook wasn't paying much attention to the fisheries, because he came here before but he was checking the other boy from time to time, so that he couldn't get lost around the crowd.
Their next destination was the Millennium Park. Taehyung was overwhelmed to see so many artistic sculptures at once, Jungkook felt content just by seeing his baby boy running around the area with so much excitement and curiosity in his eyes, like he forgot himself and didn't have any worries for the future. They took so many selfies in front of the huge bean and dozens of pictures where Taehyung was posing artistically like a French lady around the trees.
They had a lovely meal in a sushi restaurant near the Millennium Park when the sun was going down to welcome the sexy evening. Both of them were chatting like two old friends had met after a long break, smiling all the time and giggling when the other one cracked some jokes.
They had lost so much energy throughout the day that when they returned back into Kim & Kim house, Taehyung didn't bother to change his outfit, just crawled back on the sofa, picking a fluffy cushion. Jungkook was going to lay on top of him too but his phone buzzed breaking the silence of that big living room. "Jiminie hyung, how's you doing?" Jungkook said after swiping up the green icon of his screen.
"Hey! My baby brother, having fun in the USA?" Jimin replied.
"Who told you?" Jungkook smiled a little, though he knew the answer but still he wanted to tease his brother. "Don't tell me it was that short grumpy guy."
"He's not that grumpy, he's cute." Jimin snapped. Jungkook could guess that his brother was sulking on the other side.
"Alright, alright, I get it. When is your concert?" Jungkook asked after settling down on the sofa. Taehyung immediately put his head on Jungkook's lap and hugged his thighs lazily.
"It'll start within an hour. We're putting on our make ups and dresses now." Jimin paused for a moment, probably listening to his group members, Jungkook thought.
"Hello, hyung?" Jungkook looked at the screen to see if the call was disconnected or not.
"Yeh, Kookie, I have to get ready soon, I'll send you the channel name and exact time. Don't miss it ok? Aniyong." Jimin cut the call within a second.
"Hyung must be very busy." Jungkook sighed then slided the phone back to his pocket.
"Is that Jimin-ssi?" Taehyung craned his neck and asked, looking at Jungkook.
"Yeah, his performance is tonight. We can watch it from here." Jungkook showly running his fingers through Taehyung's scalp, Taehyung hugged his thighs more to feel the warmth.
"He's a very good dancer." Taehyung chewed his upper lip before saying, "He forgot me, right?" He started circling his fingers slowly on Jungkook's thigh.
"Umm, no. He remembers you. I didn't tell him about you. I just said that you've gained your memories back and went back to your home." Jungkook's voice was deeper, like he was speaking from the other side of the river.
"Why?" Taehyung chewed his lips more, he felt a mild ping in his heart. All of his youth he had spent around criminals, he didn't give a f*ck of what other people thought about him but this time he felt insecure of being a criminal. He stopped his movement and asked, "Would he hate me after that?"
"No, Tae, he's more open minded than me, he won't judge you but-" Jungkook tugged the other boy's hair to drag his full attention to him, "he was already in pressure because of the performance, so I didn't want to make him think about other things."
Taehyung released a breath, what he was holding for sometimes. "Jungkook, this is the first time I'm feeling so low. I used to think so highly of myself because my friend and his father always praised me for learning things faster than the others. Even aiming from distance was my specialty so ahjussi made me the head sniper of the gang."
"Oh really? I didn't know you're this talented." Jungkook smiled and ruffled his hands but Taehyung got up from his lap, folding his knees on his chest.
"It's not a good thing Jungkook. Killing people is totally not a good thing." Taehyung lowered his head along with his eyes, then said, "I don't have any good qualities like you, I'm not even an educated person like you. I've read only upto junior school, then ahjussi called some teachers to teach me privately because he wanted me to become his secret weapon." He paused for some moment, then continued, "You know when my best friend passed his graduation, I was so happy but deep inside I felt so jealous of him. I wanted to study more, I wanted to attend colleges, I wanted to be a graduate like him." Taehyung couldn't raise his eyes because he feared that Jungkook might see the tears.
"Baby, come here!" Jungkook lightly patted his thighs, signing him to sit on them but Taehyung didn't move an inch. Jungkook sighed and held Taehyung's hands and said, "An academic degree isn't that important, Tae, but studying is."
"I know but education is important Jungkook." Taehyung blinked away his tears and firmly said, "Education gives us knowledge which helps us build opinions and have points of view on things in life. My life is already a mess, if I had proper knowledge of what is wrong or right, maybe I haven't done so many wrong things."
"Yeah, education is important." Jungkook said with a faint smile but suddenly his eyes lit up and he tightened his grip around Taehyung's hand, "Do you want to study more? I mean you can start it from where you left. I can help you." Jungkook gave him an assured look.
"How can that be possible, Jungkook? You know after I surrender, they're going to put me into jail for lifetime. What will I do studying in the cell? My future is darker than the sky outside." Taehyung smirked painfully.
Jungkook brought their fingers together and intertwined them, then said with a soft tone, "Tae, you can fill that darkness with the light of knowledge. I'll be there to help you. Don't be sad, please show me your beautiful smile, I'm already missing that."
Taehyung came closer to him, hugged him with all of his heart, rested his chin on his shoulder and said, "I also want you to be happy. Not for now, for the rest of your life." He broke the hug and looked into the other's eyes, "Just marry a good person, have a couple of kids, lead a beautiful life. I'll be happy, just by watching you from afar." A single tear dropped from his eyes but he was grinning happily.
"Tae, my happiness is with you. Even if I have to wait for you for my entire life, it'll be worth it." Jungkook slowly removed the droplet from Taehyung's cheek and kissed him softly.
"Then you'll have to marry a grandpa." Taehyung chuckled on his own words.
"It's ok, I shall also become a grandpa. We'll be a perfect match." Jungkook giggled too. They were about to kiss each other but a sudden click sound on the doorway made them startled, they moved away from each other instantly and sat at the corners of the sofa.
"Hey Kookie, my cutie, look we are back." Jin said with a grin from the doorway. "Did you miss me, huh?" He put down a huge bag on a chair and came closer to his cousin, still smiling.
"Jin hyung, I'm so happy to see you." Jungkook gave him a tight hug but moved away from him immediately when Jin tried to kiss him on his cheeks. "Ah! hyung, I told you that I'm a grownup guy but you just-"
"Omo Kookie, you're no fun." Jin smiled and finally turned his attention to the other boy. "Taehyung, are you better now?"
"Yes, Dr Kim, I'm good." Taehyung licked his lips due to nervousness.
"Oh! That's a relief. Joon, put those files in our bedroom, I'll check them before going to bed." Jin ordered his husband like a typical housewife.
"Yeah sweetheart, wait a bit." Namjoon who was struggling with some big fat files replied from the doorway and went towards the stairs to reach the upper floor bedroom.
"Hyung, the antidotes?" Jungkook asked after a couple of moments.
"Oh! I forgot to tell you that, it is ready." He smiled a little, this made the other two boys surprised.
"Really hyung? Wow! You really are a genius." Jungkook got up from his seat, almost jumping on his feet. Taehyung sighed but smiled happily.
"Yes, but it's not that ready, but ready." Jin watched both of the boy's reactions, how their smiles dropped immediately after his words, Jin raised both of his hands to assure them, "Wait I mean to say, the medicine is ready but they aren't prepared as ampoules. You have to give them the exact quantity of dose. So I told my coworkers to put the solution in the ampoules. Don't worry, they're working in it fast. I hope they will get it done by tomorrow morning.
"Thank you Dr Kim, finally those people can be saved." Taehyung said, showing his gratitude.
"That was not a big problem." Jin asked leisurely while adjusting himself on the single sofa. "Actually the formula I created two years ago, had a simple mistake. Actually it is done by me. I forgot to note down the exact quantity and temperature of some chemicals used in this medicine."
"So the medicine now can cure those patients?" Jungkook wanted to sure.
"Of course. I'm feeling pity for those students who stole the formula but couldn't use it properly. Because less knowing is not a big deal but doing some risky things depending on that less knowledge can be dangerous." Jin said with a knowing smirk.
"Guys, what should I order for tonight? Anything special both of you want to eat?" Namjoon said after coming down from the upper floor. He went to the kitchen and brought out a sleek and gorgeous red wine bottle, with some glasses. "Sweetheart, please hold the glasses for me, let me pour the liquor in these.
"Sure." Jin replied with a smile and held the two glasses carefully. "Watch out honey, don't drop. I don't want my white sofa to become bloody red."
"There you go." Namjoon left the glasses half empty and served his two guests. "You didn't answer me Jungkook, should I order pizza? Or some Asian food?" He brought two more glasses for his husband and himself and made Jin to hold it like before.
"Pizza will be good. Actually we had some Japanese sushi on our way home so my vote is for the pizza." Jungkook tossed the glass and sipped some wine to wet his throat.
"I'm also ok with pizza." Taehyung smiled a little. He was feeling much relaxed around the two doctors as Jungkook was with him.
"Deal, I'm calling the pizza service, ok sweetheart?" Namjoon asked after pulling out his phone. Jin just nodded in response.
"Hyung, do you know, Jiminie hyung's performance is in ten minutes." Jungkook informed them seeing the text which Jimin sent him at that time. "Channel 24, bangbang tv."
"Oh! Really? Joon, baby can you turn on the TV and give me the remote?" Jin asked his husband politely and turned to Jungkook, "Channel 24 right? Let's all watch it together."
"Anything for you my love." Namjoon shaked his invisible tail a little after handing over the TV remote to his husband and sat down beside him.
The pizza guy delivered the ordered items alongside coke after some minutes while all of the boys were glued to the TV set like lizards, they didn't want to miss any single clip of Jimin's performance. They were cheering and clapping every single time when the camera focused on Jimin's face.
Jungkook and Taehyung shared the guest room together that night. Both of them were tangling together on the bed. Several kisses, promises and soft touches were shared between them. They didn't miss any single chance to show their affection towards the other. They couldn't keep awake for long because both of them were tired. They cuddled until they fell asleep in each other's arms after midnight.
Seoul, South Korea.
Their journey back to Seoul was as conventional as they thought. The only difference was, Taehyung carrying a big cooler bag in his hands, which contents the ampoules in a thermal container. "Jungkook, are you sure, I can take this bag with me?" Taehyung asked when they came out of the security checking office.
"Yeah." Jungkook said, looking into Taehyung's eyes. "Our government declared that they'll transfer all the demanded money to your organization. So I'm requesting you that please hand over these medicines to our government so that they could give the victims quickly."
"Don't worry, I'll take good care of this. And as soon as they transfer the money, I'll surrender to you." Taehyung nodded genuinely.
"I trust you Tae, I know that you'll come back to me." Jungkook pulled him into a hug and stayed like that a little longer. "I want to kiss you so bad Tae but not now, not in front of these homophobic crowd." Jungkook released a sigh and stepped out.
"I know, I don't want to go but I have to go. This is the last thing I want to do for those people who took care of me, when I was an orphan." Taehyung smiled and turned to go.
"Tae, I love you." Jungkook said from behind. Taehyung turned back but didn't say anything, just nodded in response. He looked at him for some moments, then called a cab and got into it.
As soon as the cab started moving Jungkook beckoned a black car to come quickly. The black car which was standing near the gate for some time. As soon as it came near him Jungkook got up and told the driver to follow the cab quickly.
The cab picked up the speed as it ran through the smooth highly but Jungkook's car was steadily following from behind. The cab didn't stop or slow downed the speed once. After half an hour, the cab stopped in front of a huge gate. The gate was so tall, nobody can see what was inside from the street. Jungkook told the driver to stop maintaining some distance so that the other people didn't suspect them.
Taehyung came out from the cab after a minute, holding the cooler bag tightly on his chest. He didn't look around, just went near the security guard and told him to open up the computer controlled gate. The security guard took out his walkie talkie and instructed someone inside to open the gate. The gate opened soon after and Taehyung went inside.
Jungkook pulled out his phone and dialed a number. "Sir, I followed him as you said. I'm waiting for the next order." The other side of the line whispered something which made Jungkook smirk. "I get it sir. We're doing this tonight." Jungkook's smirk got wider as he cut the call, his eyes never left the gate as he ordered the driver to start the engine.
