💭 🎵 🎸 Fighting (and another story idea, send help!) [late 10 April 2018]
This post to actually address two things. First, I'll start with the story idea.
Yknow if I was any good at art (I'm not), I would provide visual reference (I can't) for you all like all the fantastic cover artists can (I won't).
But I'm not any good at art. So if any of you feel inspired at this idea, feel free to submit a cover and I'll toss it here. Maybe I might use it in the end.
Anyway to the story.
If anyone knows me, I like infusing my stories with some psychological and/or philosophical theme. Something straightforward like "love" or "time" just doesn't suit my desire as a theme.
This time, I've come with an odd psychological twist. It questions what's right, what's wrong, and the gray area in-between (which is the most interesting part).
Two words for you all: Stockholm Syndrome.
If you don't know what Stockholm Syndrome is, I highly suggest you search it up and research it a bit. It's something I can't just explain in a paragraph or two of a random book-especially since I'm not very knowledgeable anyway.
Premise: we have a kidnapper who kidnaps a girl. We'll make her middle school or so age. Something that still has that innocence I need to keep the story flowing.
Now, this girl, she's got it rough. She is abused by her parents (of course) and is bullied at school (to add fuel to the fire). Because why not, right?
So when she's kidnapped...she figures the easiest way to discard that previous life...is to stay with our kidnapper.
Here's a scene I have in my head now. The names are temporary and most likely will be changed:
"Steven, Steven! Let's take a picture!" May exclaims happily. She dashes towards the bookcase where the black digital camera watches the scene through the focal lens. Steven raises a curious eyebrow. Why would May want a picture?
"Please?" she pouts. Her emerald eyes glitter as Steven can't resist the...temptation...to snap a photo with May. With a simple nod, he ushers her to him. He waves his right hand as he points to the camera. His slender index finger is all he needs to get May to obey.
May grins as she grabs the camera and dashes back to Steven. Steven opens his right hand as May plops the camera on it. With a flick of a switch, the camera turns on. The display blinks momentarily until all of the necessary information shows up on the viewfinder.
"Closer," Steven says simply. He puts his free left arm around May, pulling her in. She smiles happily as they both grin from ear to ear. A quick few snaps and the ordeal is done.
"Yay! Thank you Steven!" May beams. Steven nods as his gaze turns from May to the far wall.
"I wonder if it'd look good over there..." he trails off. His eyes dart from each and every photo he has of May. From the one where she was walking home to the one where she was unlocking her front door to the one where she was happily snoozing in her bedroom. All the photos were taken in secret.
Yet for some reason she can't help but admire how much he cares for her.
And so that's the idea. What will it be? A generic idea? Infuse a fandom? Who knows. It's just an idea at this point. If anyone has any tips, feel free to comment. Feedback is appreciated.
Anyway on to the next thing on my agenda: Rosa950 & kristenay.
Here's a song, to people who read this book don't read the lyrics I spit out at them. But just read them. Just see if you can understand.
It's called Fighting by Yellowcard.
And there's a violin in the music iirc Kristen. That will hopefully inspire you. And not anything detrimental. That'd be bad.
And it's loud. And it has guitars. That stuff too.
"Fighting"
I said I'd moved on and I'd leave it alone,
But before I walk out there is something that I need you to know,
I got lost in the blink of an eye,
And I can never get back, no I never got back,
You were not there when I wanted to say,
That you were everything right and it wasn't you but me to change,
Now I got to go it alone,
But I'll never give up, no I'll never give up
What am I fighting for?
There must be something more,
For all these words I sing,
Do you feel anything?
I said I'm OK but I know how to lie,
You were all that I had,
You were delicate and hard to find,
I got lost in the back of my mind,
And I can never get back, no I never got back
You were not there when I needed to say,
I hit the bottom so fast that my head was spinning 'round for days,
Now I gotta go it alone,
But I will never give up, no I'll never give up
What am I fighting for?
There must be something more,
For all these words I sing,
Do you feel anything?
What am I fighting for?
What am I fighting for?
Never give up on this
Never give up on this
Never give up on this
Never give up on this
Said I'm OK but I know how to lie,
But I will never give up, no I'll never give up
What am I fighting for?
There must be something more,
For all these words I sing,
Do you feel anything?
What am I fighting for? (No I'm never gonna give up, give up)
What am I fighting for? (No I'm never gonna give up, give up)
Said that I'd fight for the one that I've found,
I'm gonna stay here while I wait for you to come around,
I fight you're a part of me now,
And I will never give up, no I'll never give up
I'd say listen to it, but 99% of the people don't listen to it. So why bother saying it?
Guess I was feeling inspirational and I was worried, but that's about it.
What are you guys fighting for?
