December 25th 2013 - Morning at Melody's house
It was finally the day of Christmas! *The first day of Christmas my true love came to me!* And that one love to Melody was, her fiancee, Alex. Or was it Benedict? Well, Alex was snoring away as Melody had gotten up at 9am so that she was ready to cook her socks off for the people she loved. Her phone buzzed on her bedside table, so she grabbed her phone reading a text message in her head.
Hey Mels. Just on my way. Be at yours in 10.
Get ready! x
Ben
She smiled, grabbing her cardigan and wrapping it around herself tightly to ensure she was comfortable. The problem was, her baby bump was growing and it had now popped out of her much more than before. Melody began to rub her bump as she made herself into the kitchen, murmuring a few words, hoping the baby could hear.
"You really are one little annoying bump aren't you?" She chuckled under her breath, finding herself in front of the counter. She leaned over to see the recipe, glancing at the first ingredient which was mixed herbs. Melody slowly walked over to the cupboard reaching up as she cried out. All of a sudden, there were several stomps echoing through the house. Alex tightly grabbed Melody's hand, pulling it down. "Hey!" Alex stared at Melody, wondering what she was doing.
"Melody. I told you. I think you need to rest." Alex tensed his cheekbones, swinging Melody's hand and he touched her baby bump. "Please. I think you and the little one can come and join me." He smiled, stroking her cheek. Melody took a small step back, Alex's smiled drooping. "What are you doing? I told you no Christmas gatherings!" Melody sighed.
"I don't care. I want to see my mother, and I think she'll want to see you. I haven't seen her since we got engaged. Mum doesn't even know. I would rather tell her tonight, okay?" Alex moved closer to Melody, giving her a kiss on her cheek and began to trail them down her neck. "Al... Alex.." She moaned. Alex quickly took his lips off her neck, stroking her back.
"Can't I help you instead?"
"Alex. Do you remember last Christmas? You set the pan on fire and we ended up eating some crap in the fridge. I don't think that's a good idea..." Alex let out a frustrated sigh.
"Okay. Don't do too much, I don't want you straining yourself." Alex wrapped his arms around Melody's hips as she made a small bun, tying it off with a bobble.
"Oh, I won't be." Suddenly, the bell rang. "Yes! He is here!" She wriggled out of Alex's arms, scrambling herself to the door.
"He?" Alex stayed in the kitchen, putting his hands onto his hips and he tried to over hear her conversation from the door. It was muffled, but he could still catch her talking.
"Hey! Oh, so glad you came."
"Yes! I am happy to see you Mels."
"My god, you're covered in snow!"
"Yeh, it's literally snowing cats and dogs out there, I swear I even saw a human!" Both of them laughed, Alex narrowing his eyes to try and concentrate. "Right, I have some chicken and potatoes, where should I...?"
"Oh right, come through to the kitchen!" Benedict followed Melody into the kitchen, Alex folding his arms and watched them both waltz in. "Just put them here..." Benedict had put the bags down on the counter, slowly taking them out. For the whole time, Alex eyed them both seeing what good friends they were. It was bugging him. "Oh, Alex, forgot you were in here!" Melody walked up to her fiancee, Alex pulling her into his hips. "Ben, this is Alex. My fiancee." Benedict scanned him like a robot, giving him a small smile. "And Alex, this is Benedict. A very close friend of mine from University." She smiled, hoping they could be friends themselves. She could tell from how long they stared that it wasn't going to end well.
"Hello! Benedict... Nice." Alex reached out to give Benedict a handshake.
"Yes. Nice to meet you too..." Finally, Benedict shook his hand firmly. "Mels, she never stops talking about you." Alex frowned, with a small smile carved onto his face.
"That's funny. She never mentioned you..." Melody back away from Alex, twirling him around.
"Right you! Go back to bed!" Melody pushed Alex out of the kitchen, clenching her teeth, still speaking but Alex couldn't hear her. "And don't come back out..." He turned around, Melody smiling with guilt.
"Hmm..."
"Hmm!" Alex grabbed Melody's face closer to his and their lips crashed. They kissed, Alex hoping that Benedict was jealous and he rolled his eyes, embracing it. "What was that for?"
"Just... you're so..."
"So...?" He gasped.
"... So beautiful."
"Oh shut up! Go away!" Melody smacked Alex on his shoulder and pushed him further away from the kitchen. "Sorry."
"No, no... It's fine Mels." They both sighed.
"Right, let's get cooking!" Melody ran to the counter, grabbing the chicken and throwing it at Benedict.
"Whoa!" Luckily, Benedict caught it.
"I need a rub on that. Do your best and don't forget to preheat the oven." Melody gave Benedict a cheesy smile before she started to prepare her vegetables.
Same. Benedict thought. Same, old Mels.
Melody's house - Around 1pm
"Phew, that's most it done!" Melody wiped the back of hand on her forehead, some flour stuck there.
"Oh, you got a bit of erm..." She frowned.
"What?"
"Some, wait." Benedict grabbed a tissue, soaking it under the tap. "I'll do it." He began rubbing her forehead as she waited for him to finish. "There you go! All gone." Melody grinned.
"Thank you..." They both smiled at each other, exchanging looks.
"Hey! How is my little baker?" Alex strolled in through the door, Melody and Benedict quickly facing him so he didn't think that they were doing anything that made him suspicious.
"I am fine!"
"Yes, she had been great, why do you ask?" The bell rang, interrupting their conversation.
"Why you little-"
"Stop Al!" Melody pushed Alex away from Benedict.
"You do know she is pregnant?" Benedict's jaw dropped open, Melody quickly exiting the kitchen to answer the door. Alex walked up to Benedict, attempting to tower over him. "If you ever get too close... I will hurt you so much, you'll be crying for mommy and daddy." He smiled. Benedict began to laugh, his face quickly turning serious.
"I. Don't. Do. Threats." Alex quietly growled at him in anger.
"Ben, looks whose here!" Melody shouted from the door.
"Coming Mels!" Benedict moved out of Alex's view, making his way to Melody.
Alex really did not like him. And he knew he would break him if he got close to her.
