One week later - Something Special Cake Shop - 13:45
"Hello?" Elizabeth answered the phone as she twirled with a lock of her hair.
"Hey Liz." Melody spoke dryly from the other side of the phone.
This week that had passed had been relatively stressful for Melody, as her one week old baby couldn't stop screaming from its cot.
"My gosh, Melody, you sound terrible." Melody sighed, looking back at Amelia, sleeping softly.
"Well, I finally got Amy to sleep after the whole night of her screeching..." Elizabeth sighed also.
"Perks of being a mother 'eh?" Melody nodded, yawning. "Where's Alex?" And with those words, she froze.
I'm guessing you all remember Melody throwing her wedding ring at Alex's chest, correct?
Well, Alex and Melody never collided since. Benedict hadn't also spoken to Melody, at least he tried, but she never seemed to pick up or call back.
"Alex is... well..." Melody breathed in. "I'm not marrying him anymore." She told Elizabeth straight.
"I'm sorry." Melody chuckled quietly.
"No need for that. I'm glad I'm not." She rubbed her eyes. "I... we didn't really belong together, you know..." Elizabeth nodded slowly.
"I get it." Then, she bit her lip, pondering. "Wait.. What about that guy?"
"Who?" Of course Melody knew who.
"Benedict, I think it was, yeh Benedict. What about him?"
"What?" Elizabeth giggled.
"I know you like him." Melody knew it too.
"Shut up!" Melody giggled also. "Okay... maybe I do..." Elizabeth smiled, suddenly hearing the bell ring as the door to the shop opened.
"Oops. Got to go. Costumers!"
"Yes, you better be looking after the place. I'll be in touch Liz."
"Bye." Elizabeth placed the phone into its holder and walked out to the front of the shop, a man's back facing at her. "Hello, welcome to Something-" She paused, the man turning around. "Oh, right." He waved.
"Hi."
"Hey, Benedict." Benedict simpered.
"Hey.. " Cue awkward silence. "H-have you seen Mels?" Elizabeth lifted an eyebrow.
"If.. you mean Melody, then not really. She hasn't been in for a while." Elizabeth folded her arms, Benedict's mouth drooping. "Sorry." He slithered his hands into his pockets, feeling slightly unhappy with the result.
He thought she'd be here, rather than ignoring his calls.
"Well, um... do you... know where she is?" Elizabeth nodded.
"Mhm... she's at home, looking after Amelia." Benedict tensed his cheekbones.
"Oh right, cool. I'll... pop round." He chuckled, edging towards the door.
"O-okay." He smiled at Elizabeth as he left and made his way towards his car.
Meanwhile, Melody was sitting at home, peacefully, no sign of Alex.
Yet.
Talk of the devil...
Melody walked up to the door after hearing several knock. Opening it, she paused.
Outside, stood Alex.
Angry Alex?
No.
Judging by the way he was, he looked distressed.
Empty.
Ha. I bet so.
"Can I..." Alex stuttered and Melody just started, his condition worsening.
"Y-ye-" Alex pushed past Melody and blew his hands.
"Cold out there 'eh..." She knew that letting him in was worse than calling off the engagement. Melody shut the door, her eyes drooping.
"What are you doing here?" Alex frowned.
"Huh?"
"What do you want?"
"I've come to see my fiancee." He walked towards Melody, who backed away. "What?" She scoffed.
"You really don't remember...?"
"Remember what?" Melody lifted up her hand, showing that there was no ring present. "I-I don't understand."
"Thicko. I'm not marrying you." She snapped.
"You have to." Alex demanded.
"After what happened last week, there is no way at all." He walked up the window.
"What... happened last week?" Melody sighed, not actually having the strength to talk, but she did anyway.
"You were a drunk bastard. Came at me..." Melody gazed. "At Benedict. It wasn't your place, breaking into my Mother's home like that." Alex dropped his head.
"Right..." He turned around. "I still forbid you to see him anymore." Melody smirked.
"You can't tell me what I can and can't do anymore!" She shouted.
"Yes I can!" There was a sudden outburst of crying echoing through eh house.
Amelia had woken.
Melody let out a sigh of frustration and closed her bedroom door.
"Is... that our baby."
"My baby is doing fine. She is trying to sleep." Alex still wanted to see her.
"Can... I... see her?" Melody shook her head.
"No... no." Alex pleaded again.
"Let me see her please." Melody combed her fingers through her hair and before she could continue, there was another knock in the door.
She growled, rushing to the door.
Opening it, Benedict stood there, cold air wafting from his mouth.
"Hey Mels..." She smiled.
"Hey Ben."
