• Chapter 27 •
Let's leave that conversation on a cliffhanger and I'll just sit here cackling like a witch.
"Here you go Dad." Benedict handed his Father the cup of tea and he sat opposite him. Timothy took a sip from his cup and stared at his son.
He also knew what mistake he had made. Choosing the wrong girl.
"Son." He tapped the space next to him. "Come over here. I want to talk to you, father to son." Benedict lifted an eyebrow, but thought it polite not to refuse. He parked himself next to Timothy and stared at him, waiting to hear what he had to say.
"What's up Dad?"
"Now, I... know we don't talk very often son but... I want to talk to you about the best woman for you." Timothy scoffed. "I know your Mother should be here, giving you these lectures, but I thought it to be me for once." Benedict smirked, waiting for his Father to carry on. "Now, tell me son... Who do you prefer - Karen or dear old Melody?" Benedict frowned, knowing where his heart truly lied.
"I... don't... "
"Answer me son. I know that... Karen isn't the best of all women to choose, but... me and your Mother believe that Melody is the right one for you." Benedict combed his fingers through his hair.
"Dad..."
"Look, we are behind you one hundred percent with whoever you choose, but you must remember... whoever you choose, you'll be spending a considerable amount of time with them."
"I know... I just..." Timothy placed his hand onto Benedict's shoulder.
"Son, I know you. I know who is in your mind right now. You love Melody, don't you?" Benedict sighed, knowing he might as well just say it now.
"Yes Dad. I bloody well do." Timothy smiled. "I mean, don't get me wrong... Karen is great, but I prefer Melody. She is... the missing part in my life."
His heart was now smothered in warmth as he split his heart out to Timothy.
Both Wanda and Timothy has been waiting for this day, even dear Amelia.
"Melody dear." Wanda leaned her arm on the counter. "Tell him." She whispered. Melody had no idea of anything yet.
"I... I'm getting married Mrs Cumberbatch. Wanda. I... hate Alex... the wedding will probably be off sooner or later. But... I do admit how I feel for Ben." Melody began to rub her neck and gazed without knowing. "I bloody fell for him all those years ago... and I didn't say anything not even once." Wanda was literally jumping in excitement inside.
"You two, need to talk. Spill out everything." Melody smiled slightly and Wanda entwined her arm around Melody's, holding her cup of tea. Both of them slowly walked into the living room, still whispering and so was Benedict and Timothy.
"I love her Dad, I really do." Those were the words that Melody had walked into the room hearing. Benedict immediately got up, his face turning red in embarrassment.
"Mels. Hey." Melody smiled.
"Hi Ben." She giggled quietly.
Timothy and Wanda even felt their conversation was ever so silent in their ears, so they tried to get both of them to talk. Properly. In private, of course.
"Ben, Melody dear. Both of you should... get some sleep. It's nearly dark outside." Benedict nodded his head.
"Yes Mum, lovely idea. Mels?"
"Yes. Yes. Good idea..." Melody touched her baby bump and slowly turned around, walking into her Mother's room.
Benedict still stood next to his Father, who whispered to him.
"Go get her son." He patted Benedict's back and he cleared his throat, making his way into the room and he closed the door.
"I really hope they both see sense Timothy. Even Amelia would give everything to be here..." Wanda sighed and both of them walked into a different bedroom.
Benedict's eyes had focused onto Melody who was slowly getting into bed. When I say slowly, I mean slowly. All that she suffered was still sinking.
"I think..." Benedict scratched his head. "I should... get some sleep too." Melody shrugged her shoulder.
"If you... want to."
"Yes... I will." He moved towards the bed and lay down next to Melody, facing her. "Mels. I wanted to..." He tried to gather his words, but instead, Melody found her way into spilling her heart out.
"I hate Alex, Ben. I really do..." She rubbed her baby bump.
"I hate Karen to be honest... She also just wants me to respect her and expect things."
"What a life we've had..." Benedict chuckled.
"Yeh..." Benedict leaned his back from on the bed board. "Mels... I wanted to tell you something..." Melody wanted to as well. Both of them would confess the same thing.
"Ben..." She took a deep breath.
"No, no... I... I have been meaning to say it ever since we met Melody Fellows." Melody bit her bottom lip, her heart racing. "I love you Melody... I love you."
All of a sudden, a thump was heard outside.
Melody immediately clutched Benedict's shirt.
"What was that?" Benedict kissed the top of Melody's head, his voice quieting.
"I have no idea."
So, what hid behind that door?
