a bit of a random one, but would anyone be interested in reading what's basically a rewrite of we smile at the moon but not really? you might be aware that i've started looking a bit more into traditional publishing, but the bridewater duology as it is doesn't really work because 1) there isn't actually much in the way of plot 2) it's a bit too close to my actual school life for comfort 3) the magic bits feel so tacked on & unnecessary.

a rewrite would be much more focused on the romance aspect. duelling will be changed to something slightly more creative (but still a magical sport that plays a bigger part in the story), the academic rivals bit will be amped up way more, but the core of the story will be quite similar to this (which is why i'm considering it a rewrite instead of a whole new book altogether): british boarding school, focus on the international, full boarding kids, quite academic-focused for the characters.

if i do get on with it, would you guys prefer i recycle the names or come up with new ones? some of the characters might end up getting removed or reduced to a much more diminished role (e.g. i lowkey do not know the point of nadia sorren as a character).
