Finally Safe
Fast forwarding to the next day. Brandon was there, checking in on him quite frequently and making sure Lucas was alright. He found himself caring, a lot, for this S-Class wizard.
Lo'Pho had left and given them some guidance how how to treat Lucas and what to do. If anything were to happen they were to call him again. Ritchie thanked him and was sure to repay him for this.
Getting back to Brandon, he sat still in his chair, the one next to Lucas's bed, and just... stared. Waiting. Unblinking.
Lucas stirred, and let out a soft grunt as he began to walk. His eyes fluttering open only to shut from the light outside. His body seemed to ache and his head felt like it was hit by a frozen lamb leg. "Ow....."
Mario had passed out in the guildhall waiting for any signs of life inside the room Lucas was in.
Brandon suddenly perked up, his eyebrows have never shot up faster. Quickly, Brandon masked his expression back to neutral, watching as Lucas slowly opened his eyes. "Welcome back sunshine."
Ritchie sighed at the sight of Mario, that boy has been nothing but worried for Lucas. And he really couldn't blame him. Ritchie has been trying to repair the damages to the island, but he decided to take a break just so he could get the Cavern Dragon Slayer a dry blanket to lay gently on top of him.
Lucas jumps slightly and looks at Brandon panic in his eyes. Once he saw who it actually was, he became calm again, but not before he turned a shade of pink. "H-hi...."
Mario let's out soft yawn as he shifts. He seemed to be having a calming dream.
Brandon gave a small nod back, allowing a tiny smile to cross his face at the sight of Lucas. "Hi." He greeted back, eyeing Lucas up and down for a moment. "...How are you feeling?" Ah, there was that hidden concern again.
Ritchie had to stifle a chuckle, awww. He gently adjusts the blanket on Mario's back, making sure it doesn't fall before he begins to quietly take his leave...
"Like Zero hit me with a metal barrel." He let's out a soft grunt as he sets up better. "But other than that, better. My insides don't hurt anymore..." he hadn't noticed the fact Brandon checked him out.
Mario had unnoticedly grabbed a hold of Ritchie's cloak, making the Guildmaster unable to move much further. "Stay..." his voice was soft and pleading.
Brandon gave an amused huff to that, not a chuckle, but close. "Well, that's a good sign." He wasn't so sure about Lucas sitting up, cause hey, he's still hurt.
Ritchie suddenly came to an abrupt stopped, feeling his cloak pull him back, what? With a raised eyebrow he turned his head back around... only for his eyebrows to stitch together, a wash of sympathy crashing over him. But. He has, things to do... but surely, they can wait, right? "...Okay." Ritchie quietly agrees, a soft smile on his face.
Lucas looks at Brandon through his eyelashes, "Did I hurt anyone...." his voice was weak. He couldn't remember much of what happened after talking with Mario.
Mario lets out a small sound of joy as he pulls Ritchie to him gently. He was happy not to be alone right now.
Brandon felt something twinge rather painfully in his heart, that tone and Lucas didn't mix well in his opinion. "Uhhhmm." Brandon paused, unsure of how to explain this. "Yes, and no."
Ritchie allowed himself to quietly chuckle, he lets Mario pull him gently over to him. And when he was in arms distance, Ritchie didn't hesitate to slowly wrap his arms around him. Keeping him close, as if nothing could hurt him anymore. He would have never imagined when he had started this guild, that he'd be cuddling with one of his guild members.
Lucas tears up and grips the sheets. "What did I do..." his voice breaks as tears began to fall. He prayed he didn't hurt anyone too bad. He couldn't forgive himself if he did. If he'd just thought about that stupid black liquid sooner, that all could've never happened.
Mario suddenly let's out a purr in contentment. Snuggling close with Ritchie. He Normally would have been distant but everyone else was out and he was still recovering from his many panicked moments and emotional breakdowns.
Brandon actually frowned when he saw this sight. Lucas hasn't been awake for nearly a minute and he's already crying.
To try and help, Brandon knelt down on one knee so he was eye-level with the Water GodSlayer. He let his own hand rise up and gently rest on Lucas's head. "Let's calm down first yeah?" He, a bit softly, told. "I can assure you, no one other than yourself was severely injured I believe."
Ritchie practically cooed at Mario, but he held himself back. Not wanting to ruin the moment. He was savoring this, just to remind himself when Mario was acting grumpy. There was still a soft side to him. Ritchie huddled closer to Mario with a content sigh.
Lucas looks at him with soft sad eyes a small hope danced in them. "Really?" He need the small amount of hope. He had done a lot of bad lately and he wasn't sure on how to handle it.
Mario begins to fall back asleep. His purr still there, he felt safe, happy, and loved.
Brandon felt his heart twinge up again, making him want to cringe. But instead he gave a wordless nod, his hand starting to gently comb through Lucas's hair. All with an unreadable deadpan.
Ritchie once again chuckled, happy to see his guild m- friend, happy and safe. He knows him and Lucas will make up. He's sure of it.
Lucas smiles softly and blushes. "Why are you combing my hair? I don't mind, but why?" His eyes seemed to be an open book easy to read.
Brandon nearly titled his head, instead, he raised an eyebrow up. Eyes still blank, as if this whole thing was normal. "Is this not what other people do to help calm others?" He does this all the time to help calm his brother. Is this considered awkward-?
Lucas blushed brightly. "I mean yeah.... I never really had someone to mess with my hair so, it's kinda a new feeling...."
"Ohhhh," Brandon quietly went, his still hand now continuing to gently run through Lucas's hair. It was pretty soft too. Hm. "Hmmm. I'm not hearing any obligation against this." He sounded only slightly amused.
Lucas smiles softly. "I like it... a lot...." his voice had a calm tone in it now. If he really wanted to, and he was, he could say. His crush was petting him.
Brandon's lips quirked back up a bit, "Glad to hear it." He then decided to continue doing this for a little bit longer. Lucas has had a rough day and there are sure to be more rough days to come.
Speaking of, all things must come to an end sadly. "Unfortunately," Brandon chimed in after a moment of silence, his hand stilling and slowly pulling away from Lucas's head. "We must now focus on the task at hand. Your wounds are still healing, and if my flying axe kick to your head hit right then you might have a concussion."
Lucas blinks and looks at him wide eyed. "Again? Man did I not go out easy..." He was slightly sad that Brandon stopped petting him. He could feel the pain all over his body, but he only cared about Brandon.
Brandon turned his head away, suddenly glaring at the floor as he remembered the battle. "No. And you can sure say that again." With a shake of his head, he deadpanned Lucas's way again. "Lo'Pho was able to fly by and heal what he could, it was a battle in-itself honestly."
Lucas looks down. "I wish I can remember.... then I could understand." Looking back up he caught hold of Brandon's eyes. He didn't want to let Brandon leave as he slept to recover. Moving back slightly and painfully. "Sit with me...."
Brandon locked his eyes with Lucas, seeming to just get, lost in them for a moment. But I have things to do, the reply never left his mouth.
"You know what? Sure." Brandon agreed, this way Lucas would stop moving and rest for goodness sake. "Try not to move so much." He lightly scolded, no threatening tone detected in his voice, as he slowly and carefully moved onto the bed. He sat upright, and allowed Lucas to at least get comfortable.
Lucas lays ontop of Brandon with a small smirk from getting his way. He seemed to relax into the male without worry. "I'll move if you move." Checkmate. Lucas was actually tired from his movement as of the past few minutes, and the pain was almost unbearable, and he would have bursted into tears if he hadn't had Brandon to be close to. 'I really do love him.... I just don't know how to tell him.....'
Brandon slowly blinked, oh. Now, look, he didn't have a problem being physically close to a few people. Like Ritchie. But then again, that's his brother. This is... Lucas.
"Right. That's clever," he complimented with a flat tone. With that, he slowly made a descent backwards so his back hit the bed beneath him, and so Lucas was laying on top of him. He wasn't too sure where to put his hands, so he just decided to very gently rest them onto Lucas's shoulder's. Touch as soft as a cloud.
Lucas smiles softly "I can be smart sometimes....." a soft and tiny yawn escapes his mouth, and he tears up a little bit. Snuggling to Brandon and begins to fall asleep. His hair falling in his face lightly. "Your so soft....." was the last thing he was able to mumble out before he was out cold.
David slams his hands on the table where Mario and Ritchie was. "WHAT IS GODS NAME IS THIS GAY PARTY!?" Making Mario jump and stop purring. Fear was coming from him, since he wasn't expecting someone loud.
Brandon allowed his eyes to go soft as he stared down at Lucas. He slowly lifted one hand up to gently move the hair from his eyes before returning it to his shoulder. He felt this, weird feeling inside him. It was pleasant, but, he had no clue what it meant.
Either way, he felt his lips pull into a small smile. He'd protect Lucas, just like he would protect Divinus Magia, with his life.
Uhhh, meanwhile.
Ritchie rather quickly lifted his head up, looking to the source of the noise, only to then relax himself. "Ah, hello David," He greeted with a small smile, still snuggling close to Mario with no shame it would seem.
Mario blinks before going back to sleep without the purr this time he chose to try to ignore the ice demon.
David watched as Mario snuggling back with Ritchie. "Why I never! He choses to ignore me after his actions last night. Waking all us up."
"Hey," Ritchie quietly cuts in, glad that Mario was still trying to sleep. He was a bit upset though that the purring stopped. "We can talk about this another time. Right now..." Ritchie suddenly grinned David's way, making a motion with his head for him to come closer and join them. "You can either join us or do something productive. Take your pick."
David blinks rapidly. He was thrown off guard by the suddenly invitation. Looking over at the Now sleeping Cavern dragon slayer, he begins to ponder. When has he ever see the guy this way ever. Seeming to lose his inward battle not to, he let's out a soft sigh. Moving over to the other side and gently snuggling close to Mario and wrapping an arm around the smaller framed male.
Mario begins to purr again.
Ritchie's grin morphed back into a smile as he saw this sight, using one hand to adjust the blanket so it folded on all of them.
Everything was finally okay now, even if it was known that it wouldn't always be like this forever, they could savor the moment... all in all.
Divinus Magia, is much stronger than led to believe.
The End.
