Sonic stretched a bit before looking to Knuckles. Knuckles smirked to him, glancing to the huge group of illusions: Shadow, Zavok, Chaos, and Metal. He then looked to his resistance; they were about even in numbers. Because of upcoming plot convenience, Gadget, Marklin, and Tails were not there. He nods to Sonic, receiving a nod in response.

Turning to the opposing group, he held up his fist. “Let’s go!”

Almost all at once, the groups charged at each other.

Fire doesn’t really have a specific character doing anything right now but Cass probs just stabbed someone.

Gadget watched from afar with Marklin. His eyes spotted Infinite- the real Infinite- at the end of the sea of illusions. His eyes lowered sadly, opening up a pocket on his belt and pulling out a small, silver locket.

“What cha got there kid?” Marklin asked, noticing the locket in the wolfs hands.

Gadget glanced away, quickly putting the locket away and signing, ‘If you knew, you wouldn’t like me anymore….’

“Pfft-” Marklin covered his mouth a took a breath. “I’m related to apparently half of the villains in this world, it’s not like I can hold anything against you.”

Gadget sighed before taking the locket out and handing to Marklin, signing for him to open it. Marklin did so, getting the small thing open quickly. Inside the locket was a small picture of Gadget standing next to a black and white haired jackal.

“He looks nice enough, is, is that the one that can make the things?” Marklin asked.

‘I’m not completely sure, but…’ Gadget looked away. ‘Finn disappeared almost a year before Eggman took over the world with Infinite. I can’t help but wonder if that monster wreaking havoc in Mobius… is my friend….’

“Well, whatever is true, I hope for the best for you, you are too nice a kid to have to have this turmoil.” Marklin put his hand on Gadgets shoulder, and gave the wolf a small smile. Gadget looked to Marklin before smiling.

‘Thank you.’

Meanwhile, at the battlefield, Sonic and the rest of the resistance made it to where Infinite was floating intimidatingly. Sonic smirked. “Hey, Infinite! Long time no see! Did ya miss me!?”

“Why yes I did. I’ve been looking forward to finishing you and your annoying friends.” Infinite released a powerful wave of energy, knocking the resistance back. “I trust that you are all ready for oblivion. If you’re not… oh well.” Suddenly, and without warning, Infinite was shot at. A large, red, black, and yellow robot appeared, hand/gun pointing at Infinite. “What!? Who dares!?”

“Target reconfirmed. Extermination mode initiated. Payback inevitable.”

“Omega!” Rouge shouted happily. Shadow even had a small smile at seeing his friend. “YOU’RE ALIVE!!!!!” Even though there was a battle going on, Rouge still had her mom moment, flying to Omega happily.

“Is there no end to these annoying insects?” Infinite hissed. He then shot a beam up into the sun, and suddenly the sun was a lot closer than before.

“Oh come on IT WAS PAGE ONE!” A voice called from somewhere.

Sonic laughed a bit at the voice, but everyone else was pretty freaked out.

“That’s just special effect, right!?” Knuckles questioned.

“No!” Tails shouted flying over. “As long as we’re under that phantom ruby’s power, it’s a part of our reality!”

“Unbelievable! What chance do we have against that?” Espio called, frowning.

“Unless someone can put out a hydrogen fusion fire, we can’t do shit.” Cass snapped.

“The sun will fall upon you all. BOOM! THE END!” Eggman smirked as he finally felt power over his adversaries, “Your pathetic lives are over.”

Tails frowned before noticing Marklin and Gadget. He went flying towards them.

Gadget was staring at the sun in shock, reaching into one of the pockets in his belt and pulling out that smaller version of what’s on Infinite’s chest. It was glowing brightly.

“Hey what’s that, kid?” Marklin asked as he saw the rock.

‘I found it back in Mystic Jungle.’ Gadget explained. ‘It’s never glowed this bright though.’

Suddenly, Tails flew up to them. He noticed the rock. “Look, it’s reacting! Eggman said something about the phantom ruby prototypes; let me see.” Gadget handed him the rock. It dulled out when it left Gadget’s hand. “Woah it is!” He handed the ruby back. “He said that the Phantom Ruby prototypes only react to the person who has activated it. That must be you, buddy! Your courage and heroism are probably what triggered it. Just maybe, if you use this, it can make that sun disappear.”

“Well kid, not like we have many other options, what will you do?” Marklin put a hand on Gadgets shoulder.

Gadget looked to the phantom ruby prototype and then to the sun, unsure. He then glanced to where Infinite was with a small frown before signing, ‘I’ll do anything to help.’ Without another sign, he ran towards the sun illusion.

“Gott, he’s the smartest of these idiots.” Marklin sighed. Tails just looked at him.

Gadget made his way through everything, breathing heavily as he made his way to the sun. Infinite, meanwhile, was still hovering over the resistance menacingly.

“Make peace with your fates because your lives are now over.” He spat. Sonic gripped onto Shadow’s hand, watching the sun intently, hoping that Gadget would make it. Shadow looked to Sonic, showing slight worry.

Eggman laughed powerfully, and looked down at his almost decimated rivals. “Goodbye, fare hedgehog!”

“Three-”

“Two-”

“One-”

“ZERO! Goodbye! Farewell! Amen! Hasta la pasta!”

Gadget dashed into the sun. Tails looked on in worry. “Buddy?”

The sun soon disappeared, Gadget falling. Everyone cheered happily. Sonic was quick to dip Shadow, kissing him, causing Shadow to promptly, hit his chest in annoyance and embarrassment.

“Well now that that’s over anyone seen my husband?” Marklin called.

The others just shrugged as Knuckles looked on in amazement. “The sun! It’s gone!”

“Impossible!” Eggman grabbed the eggmobile and leaned forwards, stress washing over him immediately, Eggman flew over to the wolf, “I thought all the prototypes were destroyed.”

“Did you make sure? Don’t you have some responsibility as a scientist to check your results.” Orbot piped from behind the doctor.

“Infinite and you idiots were supposed to do it! Why do I even keep you useless things around!?”

“Franchising?” Cubot called.

Gadget groaned as he sat up, noticing that the prototype smashed when he hit the ground. He looked up to Eggman with wide eyes. Infinite appeared beside Eggman and his robot lackies, the one visible eye glaring at the wolf. Gadget felt his ears go back against his head as he avoided the others gaze.

“Infinite, attack- oh wait, you’ve already failed me, come on, let’s go and deal with these idiots properly.” Eggman skittered away quickly. Infinite growled lowly, but followed Eggman.
