“Enemy forces have invaded the city!” Amy gasped out, staring at the large screen.

“But who can we send? Sonic and Silver need time to heal.” Knuckles glanced to the resting hedgehogs, glad that Sonic wasn’t awake. He got on his communicator. “Espio! You think you can handle this?”

“We can’t send anyone! Seaside hill is under enemy fire!” Espio replied.

Knuckles sighed. “I have no choice then. You think you can handle this, Rookie?” Gadget smiled and nodded. “Alright, you and Marklin go and save those civilians!”

“Again- whatever.” Marklin grunted.

‘Let’s go!’ Gadget signed and ran out. Marklin followed out the door.

Sonic groaned as his eyes opened slowly. “Ugh….”

As he started to sit up, Amy pushed him back down gently. “No, you need rest.”

“I have to help….” Sonic grunted.

Cass walked over, and sat down next to Sonic. “Not right now you don’t, Manic.” Cass said, placing a gentle hand on Sonic's head. “It’ll be alright.”

“I-Infinite…. I won’t let him hurt anyone…. Not like he hurt me….” He tried to sit up again.

“Hey, hey, hey, we aren't all as soft as we look, the resistance isn’t about you saving everyone, it’s about teamwork and jazz like that, so let us handle our part as you rest, ok?” Cass said, she gently pushed him back down.

Sonic looked to Cass, frowning. “I won’t allow myself rest until he’s gone…. Until everyone is safe…. Until Shadow explains why he doesn’t love me anymore…. I-I have to get rid of Infinite…. I want him out of my nightmares…. Out of my reality….”

Cass took a deep breath. “You can’t beat him unless you are healthy enough, so, just a few heartbeats of rest, it will help you, please, for your world?” Cass cooed.

Sonic sniffled a little bit. “Everytime I close my eyes, he’s there…. Taunting me…. Hurting me…. I-I can’t sleep….”

“Then just lay, any rest is good rest.” Cass said softly.

Sonic nodded, sniffling. “O-Okay….”

Cass rubbed his head and smiled at him as she stood. Sonic curled up a bit, mind going off into space.

Amy was typing on the computer. “They’re retreating!” She said into her communicator. “Great job guys!”

“See, it’s going to be fine.” Cass said to Sonic sweetly.

Sonic's ears pressed against his head as he looked to the large screen. “Amy…?”

Amy’s ears perked up as she turned to Sonic. “Yeah?”

Sonic slowly sat up. “Where’s…” a deep breath before he came back more confident. “Where’s Tails?”

Amy felt her heart sink as she looked away. “We… don’t really know….”

Sonic felt himself lay back down, eyes staring with worry at the ceiling. “Tails….”

“I’m sure he’s fine.” Amy gave a reassuring smile, though she didn’t truly know. Something popped up on the screen. “Uh oh.”

“What is it?” Sonic was quick to question.

“I’m detecting two lifeforms at Aqua Road.” Amy replied. She took out her communicator, calling Gadget and Marklin. “Head towards Aqua Road. We have some unidentified lifeforms on the radar.”

“Are they robots?” Knuckles questioned.

“Definitely not.” Amy replied.

“Why are we doing everything!” Marklin yelled through the coms.

“Because everyone else is doing something else!” Amy yelled back.

“I’m not!” Sonic called.

“You’re resting!” Amy huffed, crossing her arms.

“Stop yelling the Com is one, we will just do the thing, GOD!” Marklin yelled and hung up.

Amy glared at her communicator before putting it away, going back to her computer.

Meanwhile, Gadget and Marklin were walking towards Aqua Road. Gadget poked Marklin to get his attention before signing, ‘Isn’t your Jasper mapping out Aqua Road?’

‘He should be.” Marklin signed back.

Gadget simply nodded as they continued walking.

“What is, that.” Marklin called. Gadget shrugged, as he didn’t really know either. “It’s like, a over sized fountain.”

Gadget pointed to the motobugs going down the many slides.

“Are we supposed to go in that!?” Marklin squacked.

The wolf simply nodded, already going to jump.

“The day I go straight.” Marklin hissed, he started to find another way around the motobug waterslide.

Gadget rolled his eyes before leaving Marklin, jumping onto one of the slides.

Eventually the two met up at the end, Marklin trying to squeeze water from his fur. “Hate swimming.”

Gadget shook off the water, not being as soaked as Marklin. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw something. It looked like that thing that Infinite had on his chest, but smaller. He walked over and grabbed it; it glowed brightly in his hand.

“Come on, don’t we have something to do, or some person’s to find?” Marklin snapped seeing Gadget get side tracked.

Gadget squeaked slightly before nodding and putting the item away for safekeeping. His ears twitched slightly as he heard something that sounded slightly like propellers.

“Great, what is it now, a helicopter drone here to kill us.” Marklin said, awkwardly summoning his staff.

Gadget searched around before his eyes landed on a fox holding a tiny hedgehog in the distance. He signed, ‘Is that fox… flying?’

“Oh lord, there’s more Satan's?” Marklin growled, he backed off a bit. “HEY KID!” Marklin waved lazily.

The fox, Tails, noticed him and instantly landed with the tinier version of Sonic. “Marklin!?”

“I haven’t changed that much, I heard you went off your rocker, how have you been?” Marklin then looked at the mini Sonic. “Oh, what’s this one’s thing? Clone? Robot? Temporal anomaly?” Marklin said, flashing away the staff and crossing his arms.

“Oh! This is Sonic from another dimension.” Tails explained. “And I’ve been fine…. At least I am now that I know Sonic- our Sonic- is alive.”

“Oh of course, all the AU’s are helping out the main cannon now a day’s I guess.” Marklin shook his head and puffed. “Well, I guess we better get you two back to base.”

“Okay!” Tails smiled before noticing Gadget. Curiously, he walked towards him. “Have we met before?”

Gadget shook his head, almost frantically, before signing. ‘I’m Gadget.’

“Oh, well it’s nice to meet you Gadget!” Tails smiled, shaking Gadget’s hand.

“Alright, let’s go.” Marklin started to walk back towards base. “Also have any of you seen my idiot husband, he was supposed to be here.”

Tails and Classic (as that is what he is to be called to avoid confusion while reading) shook their heads as they all walked back.
