And so, they all found themselves at the base, where, sure enough, Tails and Classic were standing. No Jasper though....

"Oh come on he's not -that- useless." Marklin snapped.

"Wonder what happened...." Sonic trailed off as he walked up to Tails. "Hey, little buddy! How'd it go?"

"It was awesome! I think I found a way to stop Infinite's powers!" Tails exclaimed happily.

"Great, so like, what is it?" Kathie said quickly.

"The Phantom Ruby is the weapon he uses!" Tails explained. "It creates virtual realities so powerful that whoever is affected will actually be a part of it. In other words, you can be killed in one of them. It needs a large powersource, which only the Death Egg can supply."

"So, if we destroy it..." Shadow started.

"Infinite's power can be weakened!" Sonic smiled.

"I don't know, last I checked the Death Egg was a heavily guarded, well, Death Egg." Knuckles looked uncertainly to Tails.

"Yes, but I have a plan!" Tails smiled brightly, earning a large grin from Sonic.

"What is it?" Cass asked because Fire is trying to use more than just Marklin in this thing and I've already written out Jasper like an idiot.

"First, we need a distraction." Tails started.

"I'm on it!" Knuckles grinned.

"No way, Knuckles!" Amy protested. "You get distracted too easily. That's not a good trait for a distraction. Plus, you're our leader. We kinda need you here."

"What about the rookie? Eggman will never suspect it!" Silver suggested.

"I mean that is valid." Cass said with a shrug.

Gadget glanced nervously to the side, not feeling too confident. 'I'm not sure about this.... I've already messed up so much....'

"He's not sure if he's loud enough for it." Marklin cut over the wolf's signing, he shot a playful glare at the wolf. Gadget frowned at the cat.

Sonic chuckled, wrapping an arm around Gadget's shoulders playfully. "Nice, haha."

"You should be fine just by destroying a few robots, causing a ruckus." Shadow grunted, crossing his arms and glaring at Sonic, unamused. Gadget looked down, slightly- greatly- intimidated by the black and red hedgehog.

"Well, I guess we can just go, it won't be that hard." Marklin said, starting towards the door. Gadget quickly followed behind.

"Good luck!" Sonic smiled. "Also, tell me how Green Hill's doing; I've missed that place!"

Gadget and Marklin were running through Green Hill, the bright greens and yellows shining brightly in the sun.

"Hey, part of this world is almost, nice." Marklin said, once in his life being a bit positive, must have been the sunshine finally replenishing that vitamin D he's spent so long removing with being a recluse.

Gadget nodded. 'This place seems like it hasn't been touched.' He glanced to the sand that definitely shouldn't be there. 'Almost....'

"Well, maybe the killing guy doesn't want everything to be dead, or he likes some places, I don't know my writer likes the guy." Marklin said with a huff.

Gadget looked around. 'My friend and I use to walk here all the time.... He... disappeared months before all of this happened....'

"Well, you will find them again, hopefully." Marklin said quickly.

Gadget nodded. 'Finn wouldn't just leave me....' He then sighed. 'Alright, let's get started.'

"Alright, so what can we do to make the biggest distraction?" Marklin asked.

Gadget looked around for a moment in thought. 'Maybe we could destroy all those robots?' His ears twitched as he heard thumping.

"Alright." Marklin summoned his staff and waited for Gadget to make a move. Gadget's ears twitched a bit more before he bolted off towards the sound, making sure to destroy some robots along the way. Marklin took a breath and started to follow along, doing the best he could to keep up and destroy things. They went like that for a while, dodging pits and destroying robots.

"Great job guys!" Amy cheered through the communicator before pausing for a second. "Uh oh, unidentified object heading your way!"

Gadget's ears twitched, knowing it was close. He grabbed Marklin, and jumped as a large, crab-like robot crashed through the platform they were on. Gadget pulled Marklin along as they ran.

"God why do any of these things surprise me anymore." Marklin hissed as he was half dragged.

Gadget dodged some debris that arose from the crab's running, dragging Marklin along with him. Marklin was content being dragged as they went. Gadget searched for an opportunity as he dodged, and when he found one, he acted quickly, using his grapple to get up there and effectively tying the creatures legs up. As it fell, he quickly dragged Marklin away from it, making it just in time.

Marklin puffed and sighed. "Well I guess we are making a distraction." Marklin shrugged.

"That's great!" Knuckles shouted through the communicator, obviously happy that the plan was working. "We're gonna be sending in Sonic and Cass to find the computer room now!"

"I just sensed a great disturbance in the world." Shadow mumbled into his communicator.
