38: What Just Happened?

"I see you've returned." Thor greeted his sister and sister-in-law  with a raised brow. "With a dog?"

"Thor, meet Blóðfang." Katha grinned. "My sacred animal."

"Blóðfang?" Thor asked. "Loki's idea, I presume."

"Yup." Kat said, and plopped down on one of the couches in the lounge. Blóðfang trotted over to lay down in front of it.

"Smaller than Percy's, if I recall correctly." Thor noted.

"Oh," Loki chuckled. "She gets bigger."

"Really?"

"Yes. The smaller form is for convenience, I believe." Loki said.

"So this is what your little adventure was about?" Thor asked.

"She wanted to meet her sacred animal." Loki smiled.

"Well. I assume Blóðfang will be staying around then?" Thor smiled along.

"That is the idea." Loki said.

"Look at you two, already so... How do the Midgardians say it? Domestic?" Thor suggested.

Loki blushed, but her smile didn't fade. "Shut up, you. Our circumstances aren't ordinary."

"Neither is your love for each other-" Thor teased, grinning.

Loki dove at him, Thor only barely managing to avoid it. They wrestled around for a bit, laughing the whole time. Physically stronger, Thor eventually managed to get Loki in a chokehold.

"Sister, where's your lady to save you?" Thor asked as Loki tried to wriggle free.

When they didn't see Katha's head at least peek over the back of the couch, Thor immediately released his brother, and they both got to their feet. Once standing, they both saw that Katha had simply fallen asleep.

"It appears that you tired her out." Thor said playfully.

Loki punched her brother. "I did not!" She hissed.

"Of course, of course." Thor said, though he failed to hide his smile.

"Don't make me stab you." Loki glared. "You know how mother hates it so."

"Your logic is puzzling, sister. Why would it be my fault that you stab me?" Thor asked.

"You insult my honor, brother." Loki said.

Thor's smile softened from playful to kind. "You should get her to bed. She will need her rest for tomorrow. As will you."

Loki returned the smile. Thor couldn't quite recall the last time he had felt their bond like this. Pure, void of ill-intent, and full of camaraderie. Thor couldn't describe the joy it gave him. He stepped forward and pressed a light kiss to his sister's foreheads. "Goodnight, my sisters."

"Goodnight, brother." Loki returned warmly, and gently took Katha into her arms and teleported away to their room.

Blóðfang looked expectantly up at Thor. He knelt down, and took the canine's head in his hands and pet her.

"They failed to tell me if you were a boy or girl, Blóðfang." Thor commented.

Blóðfang looked up at Thor with an intelligent expression.

Thor cocked his head to the side. "Boy?" Blóðfang didn't react. "Girl?" He asked instead, and Blóðfang wagged her nub of a tail and shook her head approvingly.

"Girl it is, then." Thor smiled.

~~~~~
After a night of easy sleep, Thor joined his companions for breakfast before the festivities were to truly begin.
"Thor!" Volstagg waved him over.
"How does it feel that your little brother is married before you?" Fandral asked once Thor was sitting down.
"I'm happy for him, for them both, actually." Thor said genuinely. "I haven't seen Loki this happy in centuries."
"Oh, blast!" Fandral said. "Do you have to say something so boring?"
"Is it really that boring, though?" Thor returned. "We have Loki and Katha as allies. I don't believe they will ever be boring, Fandral."
Volstagg laughed loudly, while Sif and Hogun grinned.
"Ah." Fandral said.
"Thor," Hogun asked, "If Katha is queen of the Romans, which you will have to explain to us eventually, then doesn't that make Loki king of the Romans as well?"
Thor's eyes widened and his expression showed mild horror and awe. Volstagg chuckled, and shoved a plate of breakfast toward Thor. "Nothing we can do about it now, don't over worry yourself." Thor turned his attention to his plate.
"I don't think we need to worry at all." Fandral commented. "With the Lady Katha, our Loki has become... Well, tame, really."
Thor choked on his mouthful, and took a minute to recover.
"What?" Fandral asked. "Was it something I said?"
Thor cleared his throat. "Katha has not tamed Loki. She has turned his anger away. What you fail to recall is that they are both cut from the same mountain. Different sides, perhaps, but the same mountain."
"What do you mean?" Fandral asked.
"Do you not recall Katha carrying you and throwing you when you insulted her strength?" Thor asked. "Katha is just as wild as Loki." He then turned back to his breakfast.
"No one is as wild as Loki." Volstagg said, shaking his head.
Thor shook his head, and continued eating. A few minutes later, the sounds of four feet came charging into the room. Thor looked over in time to see Blóðfang, and stood to greet the war dog.
For a moment, the Asgardian warriors in the room were ready to fight, especially seeing Thor rise. Then Thor grinned, and Blóðfang greeted him with a madly wagging nub of a tail. Thor reached over to the table and grabbed a hunk of meat before tossing it over to Blóðfang, who leapt to chomp it out of the air.
Blóðfang then laid down to eat. Thor knelt down to give her a few good pets, while the other Asgardians looked confused for a moment before returning to their breakfast.
When Thor returned to his seat, Blóðfang followed to lay down behind him. Thor chuckled.
"Do you know this dog?" Volstagg asked.
"This is Blóðfang." Thor said. "Katha's sacred animal."
"Katha's?" Sif raised a brow.
As if on cue, the other royals entered the dining hall. Frigga at Odin's side, and Katha energetically taking the lead with a large grin, Loki trailing just behind her with a softer smile. At their arrival, a huge cheer resounded through the room.
After breakfast, Odin pulled Thor aside as subtly as possible, and gave him a task.
~~~~~~

The Bifrost carried Thor to Midgard. As odd as it may seem, the tower was quiet.

"Jarvis of the wall?" Thor called out.

"I am here." JARVIS replied.

"Where are the Avengers?" Thor asked.

"Mr. Stark is at his Malibu estate, Mr. Rogers and Mr. Barnes are at Camp-Half blood, Mrs. Romanoff and Birdbrain are at the Barton home." Jarvis said. "And Dr. Banner is in Spain at the moment."

"I need to speak with Stark, Clint, Natasha, Steve, Bucky, Percy, Annabeth, and a few others, but those can wait for the moment." Thor said.

Eventually, word got around through an odd game of telephone.

"Thor? Did something happen?" Percy asked, the first to arrive via vapour travel, with Annabeth.

"Yes, but not something awful." Thor said. "Something rather good, actually."

"What?" Percy asked, suspicious of Thor's nervousness.

"The others are on their way here, but... There are a few more I need to speak to." Thor said.

"Who? And where's Kat?" Percy asked.

"I need to speak to your mother, Perseus, and to the Olympians." Thor said.

"Why my mom? And why the Olympians?" Percy asked.

"They have all been invited to Asgard." Thor said.

~~~~~~
The mortals were a little uneasy in the presence of the Olympians. They could feel the power just radiating off of them, even if the gods weren't intending to.
"Why are we invited?" Tony asked.
"Katha wishes to see you." Thor lied. Apollo's head turned to look at Thor with a confused expression. Hermes, the only one who saw, thought he looked a bit like the guy from the Bee movie. Of course, Hermes would mention it to Apollo later.
"Alright, stay together. You don't want to get lost in the Bifrost." Thor warned, and then raised Mjolnir, calling for Heimdall.
~~~~~~

"Wow." Tony said as they were avoiding the main crowds, which was most everywhere. "They're really excited, huh? This alliance must mean a lot to them."

"My people are excited about the alliance, yes. It has been generations coming, and it has finally arrived." Thor said. "It also happens that there is... A royal wedding, in the upcoming days."

Aphrodite shrieked in excitement, and looked over to Hera, who was intrigued.

"Wait, Thor, you're getting married?" Percy blurted.

Thor nearly tripped. "I- no, I am, I am not to be married. No."

"Then Loki? Or other extended family?" Clint asked.

"Loki." Thor said in answer, and then Heimdall lead them into the palace.

"This place is... Magnificent." Annabeth said, staring around in awe, taking as many mental notes as she could. Percy smiled down at her.

"I've never seen anything like it." Sally said.

"The lands of gods are always more exemplary than those of mortal's." Artemis said to Sally. "Mortals live so fleetingly, and the gods are eternal. We have a millennia to spare for every detail, and the magic to accomplish it, while mortals have less than a century for everything they are to do."

"Knowing that, makes the mortals' accomplishments all the greater." Athena said.

"This way." Heimdall said, and led them to their destination.

Inside, Odin sat upon his throne, with Frigga by his side. The gods bristled for a moment, before Odin stood and walked down the steps, to stand level with the Olympians. "I welcome you to my home." Odin began. "The Lady Katha has shown to be of true character, and with her grace, I welcome an alliance between our people. Should you wish to stay for the celebrations, you would also be free to do so."

For a moment, Zeus, by habit, readied himself to respond, before Percy jumped ahead of him. "Thank you. It means a lot to me."

"So you are Perseus? King of the Greeks." Odin said.

"I am." Percy said. "I know I'm new to this whole thing, but I've been learning as much as I can. I want to protect people."

Odin nodded. "If you share your sister's resolve, then I have no doubts that you will do exactly as you say."

"Thank you. Speaking of my sister, where is she?" Percy asked.

Odin turned to his wife. Frigga smiled. "She'll be here in just a moment."

True to her word, in just a second, Kat's head poked through a doorway. "Mother? You called?"

While Frigga smiled, Kat noticed the guests. Kat dashed into the room, and instead of running the whole way, she just teleported directly in front of Percy and wrapped him in a hug. Percy laughed as he returned her hug.

"What are you doing here?" Kat asked, pulling back to look at everyone. "Mom?"

"Hi sweetheart." Sally said. Kat wrapped Sally in a hug.

"What about me?" Tony asked.

"What are you all doing here?" Kat asked incredulously as she gave all the mortals a hug.

"Thor said that the gods over there were coming for the alliance, but that we were invited by you." Tony said, giving Thor a look. "I guess someone lied."

Kat gasped dramatically. "Thor, lie? The world must be ending. I'm telling Loki."

"No, don't do that, he'll never let it go." Thor begged.

"Too late." Kat singsonged. "He's on his way now."

"How do you know?" Clint asked.

"Tele." Kat said, and then realized that they weren't familiar with the term. "Telepathy. Magic audio texts."

Steve and Bucky exchanged a confused look.

"Congratulations," Athena said to Katha. "On making this alliance possible."

Before Kat could reply, Loki teleported to her side. "Now what was this you wanted to tell me?"

"Thor lied." Kat grinned.

Loki gasped dramatically, and turned to Thor. "Brother, I didn't know you had it in you."

"Oh, be quiet, Loki." Thor grumbled.

Loki gave a nod to the mortals, specifically to Sally, Natasha, and Bucky. He then turned to the Olympians. "I am Prince Loki of Asgard. Welcome to our home."

"Thank you for invi-" Athena began, but she was interrupted.

"I heard you were getting married." Aphrodite grinned. "Who's the lucky one?"

"I believe I am the lucky one, Lady Aphrodite, I presume?" Loki said.

"Right you are." Aphrodite said. "But who are you marrying?"

"Technically speaking, we're already married. We've been soulbonded." Loki politely told her.

"Soulbonded?" Annabeth snapped to attention. "You're soulbonded?"

"You are familiar with the term?" Loki asked, as he and Kat frowned simultaneously.

"Both Percy and Annabeth, as well as Steve and Bucky have been soulbonded. On the same day, actually." Apollo said. "It was pretty nuts."

"What?" Kat blinked, before pointing to Percy and Bucky, and between the three of them. "So we all got married?"

"You got married?" Bucky blurted.

Katha looked like a deer in the headlights. "I didn't say that."

"You got married!" Percy exclaimed.

"No-"

"That face that you're making right now, Kat, I'm pretty sure is the same one I make when I get caught-" Percy said.

"It is." Annabeth and Sally confirmed in unison.

"Hold up! You married Loki?" Tony exclaimed.

"Loki?" Clint echoed in a similar tone.

"Yeah, you know what, I think we need to go, Lokes." Kat said. "Where there are lots of witnesses."

"I quite agree." Loki said, and they vanished from sight.

"What just happened?" Poseidon asked. Athena pat his shoulder in solidarity, or maybe pity.

"They grow up so fast." Demeter said.

A/N

Sorry. That took forever. I'm trying to catch Achilles up so that I can write Thor: The Dark World into both stories at the same pace. Otherwise my order of events is going to get all screwy.

Also, 1k followers! That's insane! Thank you all so much!
