36: An Alliance

"Are you sure you're ready for this?" Percy asked.

"You tell me my Mom's a goddess, and then offer to get me a cool prosthetic. If nothing else, I want my goddamn leg." Myers said.

"Okay. Just thought I'd make sure." Percy said, and offered them his arm. "I don't think you'll be able to get down the hill very well on your own."

"Fine." Myers said, and hooked their arm through Percy's.

"Gonna take us to the top of the hill first. That's a view you can't miss." Percy said.

Myers closed their eyes, and opened them when the sensation of vapor traveling disappeared. When they did, the Athena Parthenos devoured the first moments, and then Peleus the dragon. A smile made its way across their face when they took in the Camp itself.

"Okay. This is pretty cool." Myers said.

"You ready for the next jump?" Percy asked.

Myers closed their eyes. Again, they opened their eyes when the sensation passed. This time they were in the middle of things.

"Hey Percy!" The Stolls chorused. "Nice to see you, your highness!"

Myers frowned at Percy. "Your highness?"

Percy blushed slightly. "It's nothing."

"It totally is." Myers retorted.

"Who've you got there?" Malcom asked.

"This is my friend, their name is Myers." Percy said.

The other demigods in the area took note of the 'their' and some gave a brief nod. Others weren't fazed in the slightest.

"Had a rough time, huh?" Malcom asked, clearly meaning the half missing limb.

"Well, sometimes you just can't avoid falling debris when a huge aircraft crashes into your workplace." Myers shrugged.

As if on cue, a glowing symbol appeared over Myers' head. The dove of Aphrodite. The campers around clapped.

"This one seems pretty cool." Was a comment from a Hermes camper.

Myers jumped as much as a one-legged person could when two people suddenly landed beside them.

"Hey Perce!" Jason greeted.

The other individual with him grinned at Myers. She stuck out her hand for Myers to shake. "Welcome to the Aphrodite cabin. I'm Piper."

Myers accepted the shake. "Is heterochromia stuff a thing with our Mom?"

"Well," Piper shrugged. "Her appearance changes all the time. I guess so. It makes sense."

"Can I get Leo and Will?" Percy called out.

"On it!" The Stolls called out before running in opposite directions.

"Who are Leo and Will?" Myers asked.

"Leo's crazy, he'll be the one in charge of making your prosthetic, and Will is the head healer at Camp."

"Oh." Myers said. "Who leads Camp?"

"A couple people." Percy replied.

Piper gave him a look. Jason sighed, and addressed Myers. "Chiron runs the camp, he's the centaur, or the guy in a wheelchair. However, Percy is the leader here."

"Really? A god leads the Camp?" Myers asked.

"When Percy was a demigod, everyone looked up to him. Now he's King of the gods, so." Jason shrugged.

Myers slowly turned to look at Percy. "You're what now?"

"King of the gods." Percy said, then pointed. "Oh, look! It's Will."

Will was indeed making his way through the last rings of demigods that were chilling around the newcomer. Will stopped in front of the group, and looked at Myers' leg. "You know, I heal wounds. Not conjure limbs."

Percy chuckled. "Nah, Leo's on his way. Just want you to help him."

"Oh, fantastic. You've voluntold me to work with Leo. Did you know I've got patients? Lots of patients. Everyone is sick."

"Will, shut up. You can't lie." Nico said from behind him. "There are other days for that. Nice to see you, Percy."

"Hey Neek- Nico. I meant Nico." Percy said.

"Sure. Sure you did." Nico said.

"Hey Perce!" Leo said as the crowd gave him room to pass. It was general practice, you never knew how recently he had last caught on fire. "Waddaya need?"

"Myers, this is Leo. Leo, this is Myers." Percy introduced. "And Myers, this is Will."

"Alright." Myers said.

"Myers here needs a prosthetic." Percy said. Myers shook their half-leg, accentuating his point.

Leo cheered. "Oh, this is gonna be fun! Let's go, come on, we've got a leg to make!"

Will offered to help Myers get around, which they accepted.

"Don't worry, Perce. I'll make sure they don't get anyone killed." Will said.

"I believe you." Percy said. "And Myers, if they suggest something, you can tell them to buzz off. They love gadgets."

Myers nodded, and they began the trek to Cabin Nine.

"So," Piper said. "How're you and Annabeth?"

Percy grinned. "She's just finishing the design for this one place, and even I can tell it's going to beautiful. Since the gala, she's just been gaining attention from people who might buy her designs, or however that works. I'm really proud."

Piper raised a brow.

"We also have a date tonight, and I'm  excited for that too." Percy said. "For the first time in a long while, I'm starting to feel normal. Well, like I've got a new normal. And it's good. Really good."

"Good." Piper said.

"There are still some things that bother me, for sure. Like a lot. But Annabeth kind of gave me a talking to, so I'm dealing with it." Percy said.

"How's the soulbond thing going?" Piper asked.

"It's wierd, but it also feels right. Things are different, but they haven't really changed." Percy said.

"Did Annabeth take it well?" Jason asked.

"Honestly, I think she keeps forgetting.  And then she gets grumpy for a couple minutes because 'How could I forget something like that'. But she isn't upset." Percy smiled. "We're still having a wedding, though."

~~~~~~
"I'm getting the impression that a soulbond is more important than you made it sound earlier." Kat said to Loki.
"I don't want to startle you." Loki replied.
"We're kinda past that point, aren't we? Not knowing is going to freak me out more." Kat said.
Loki sighed, and beckoned her to sit with him on the sofa. She did, with her legs tucked underneath her. "Soulbonds are older than marriages. Of course, people still had their partner, it just wasn't a status and title. It just was. When people began to understand soulbonds, they shaped marriages as close as they could to a soulbond."
Kat nodded. "So, marriages are like soulbonds, not soulbonds are like mariages."
"Indeed." Loki said, and a light blush covered his cheeks. "Which means in the eyes of Asgard, we are married."
Kat blinked. Loki looked down at his lap.
"Well then." Kat said.
Loki snorted.
"Uh, do they know?" Kat asked. "Everyone else?"
"Just Thor, Mother, Odin, the Warriors Three, Sif, and the two healers." Loki said.
"Is Odin going to be mad?" Kat asked.
"I don't know." Loki said. "I truly do not know."
They were quiet for a moment.
"This is so weird." Kat said. "A couple days ago I was scared that I didn't love you, and now we're married."
Loki drew her into his arms, and she snuggled up to him. Kat giggled.
"What is it?" Loki asked.
"We're married." Kat replied.
A smile grew on Loki's face. "We're married."
They grinned, staying like that for a few minutes. Then Kat shot up abruptly.
"Is something wrong?" Loki asked, worried.
"I just realized something." Kat said.
"And what would that be?"
{I love you.} Kat said. {We're married and I haven't even said that before.}
Loki grinned. {I love you, my Unn.}
{What does that one mean?} Kat asked, smiling.
{Beloved one.} Loki answered.
They weren't sure who leaned into the kiss first, but it didn't matter.
~~~~~~

In the morning, Loki woke with Katha's head on his chest. He ran his fingers through her hair while he waited for her to wake up.

{Moornin.} Kat mumbled out eventually.

"It's almost time for breakfast." Loki said.

"Do you think they'll have any of that one fruit?" Kat yawned.

"Probably." Loki sad, knowing which one she'd taken a liking to.

Kat giggled quietly, sitting up.

"What is it now?" Loki asked softly.

"This obviously hasn't happened before," Kat said, "But this feels... Perfect. The way it's supposed to be."

A look of wonder crossed Loki's face.

"Now, what am I gonna wear to breakfast?" Kat thought aloud.

Loki sat up, and pressed a light kiss to the back of Kat's neck. "Stay here, I'll find you something."

"Where are you going to go?"

"My wardrobe." Loki said, already crossing the room.

"Um?"

Loki looked over his shoulder. "I am a shapeshifter, Love."

"Oh. Right." Kat said. "Oh, that is so cool."

"What is?" Loki asked, deciding which dress would better suit Kat for the time being.

"I get to have a husband and a wife. As the same person." Kat said. "It's so cheating."

Loki couldn't help but grin. "You won my heart fairly, Love."

"Just pick the clothes already." Kat said, blushing.

Loki laughed.

~~~~~~
At breakfast, Odin turned to the two of them. "Loki, Lady Katha. May I request that you join me on a ride this afternoon?"
Loki's hand gave Katha's a squeeze. "It would be our pleasure."
~~~~~~

They had been riding for a long while before any of them spoke. Kat and Loki were worried, but it didn't seem like Odin was angry. He was just pensive and quiet.

"You have given me many things to think about." Odin said. "Let us stop here for a while, give the horses a rest."

Odin sat on a fallen tree, and watched as the horses grazed. "I have decided to grant your request, Katha, Queen of the Romans. You may consider our peoples allies."

"May I ask why?" Kat asked.

"For now, it does not matter." Odin said. "I believe it best to announce your souldbond soon."

"Should I say that I'm Roman?" Kat asked.

"I should think that will be a good way  to announce your bond. It will keep the both of you safer, against any who wish you harm." Odin said. "Do you have a crown?"

"Kind of." Kat said.

"Then I request that you wear it from now on." Odin said. "You need not hide any longer."

Surprised, Kat did as he asked, and the golden laurel wreath settled around her head. Odin nodded in approval.

"When will this be announced?" Loki asked.

"At the feast tonight." Odin said. "Celebrations will begin in three days time."

~~~~~~
"Wow. Did I hear that right?" Kat asked when they got a moment alone.
"I am just as surprised as you are." Loki said.
They walked hand in hand down the hall, and Kat convinced him to stop by the lounge.
"Ah! There they are!" Fandral exclaimed cheerily. "Come, have a seat!"
They sat down on one of the sofas, and Sif pushed a plate of pastries in their direction.
"How was your ride with Father?" Thor asked.
"It was well. Tonight will be quite the feast." Loki said. "I ought to get Katha to a seamstress."
Kat wrinkled her nose. "Or I can wear what I wore to Olympus."
Loki tilted his head in thought. "I suppose that will do, for tonight."
~~~~~~

Frigga smiled warmly when they entered, arm in arm. "You both look lovely."

"Thank you." Kat and Loki chorused.

Frigga smiled wider. "Come, sit."

Kat knew she was drawing attention with her attire. They had gotten used to her normal clothes, but these were new.

A pale blue dress, and sheer emerald green sash were just ever so not quite the style in Asgard, especially since her arms were entirely bare, without any form of sleeves. Loki had given her a golden serpent armband that wrapped itself around her bicep, and in a way it matched the golden wreath. Under the wreath, her hair hung loose in waves.

Loki looked just as stunning in his own attire, the emerald green he wore was the same as Katha's sash.

Odin stood, and tapped his staff against the floor, calling attention to him. "We have much to celebrate." Odin began, and gestured for Loki and Kat to stand, which they did. "My son, Loki, has found a soulbond with the Lady Katha."

The cheers that rang through the hall were drowned out by the words that caught in Loki's mind: My son, Loki.

Odin tapped his staff again, and the hall quieted. "Tonight, we also make official an alliance, proposed to me by Queen Katha of the Romans. Together, may our people prosper!"

They noticed the shock that the Asgadians felt, but the cheer that followed put them at ease. She'd done it. She had made an alliance between two pantheons.

A/N

So, yeah. I guess I'm back.
