Danny was racing down the road at like 100mph, (I wouldn't do it but I don't blame him), as we got the call that Danny's Dad was rushed into hospital for a heart attack, (his neighbour brought him to the hospital, I didn't know that he had neighbours as there were no houses around him that I knew of), (though geography is not my strong suit at all, so take that as you will).

Poor Danny was on edge for the entire way there, and before you ask why I didn't drive us there if that was the case, (though that is a question most people would have asked, and it would be a fair question for you to ask me if I'm being honest with you here), but it was because I couldn't drive fast enough for him to get to the hospital in the nick of time, (plus I don't really trust myself driving his truck because he's had it for as long as I have known him here), (well actually it's probably been longer knowing my luck here).

When we got there, Danny's Dad had stabilised, but he didn't really have a lot of time left, (the doctor told us that, ok, I'm not claiming that I'm a medical expert here, as that would be incorrect, ok), Danny fell asleep on one of the visitor's chairs in the room, (probably from the stress, I couldn't tell you though as the person I consider a parent is Danny's age, so I haven't really had a parent in the hospital), (though I guess age doesn't always come into health, so ignore that last little titbit).

"You know that he already loves that little girl, right?"
"I didn't know that she was a girl, but I did know that he already loves her so much already"
"Shit, I forgot that you didn't want to know yet"
"(Snorts), Nah don't worry about it, I kind of had a feeling that she was going to be a girl anyway as he's so shit at hiding anything"
"I'm surprised that he didn't blurt it out already"
"Well respect for my wishes is probably the reason he hasn't blurted it out yet"

Danny's Dad's face softened when he heard that, (as he knew Danny very well), (though he did raise Danny, so he would be the other person that knew Danny very well), (like Danny usually wore his heart on his sleeve, which was actually quite rare for a man), (usually doesn't mean it was always the case though, as that simply wasn't true either), he took my hand and squeezed it, as though he had to actually feel that I was actually there rather than not, (being that near death will do that to ya though), (I do imagine that dying could be quite scary).

"You know, before he met you, I'd thought that he'd never settle down with anyone, but I'm glad that he found you, as I know that he's happy"

Shit, if Danny's Dad was doing his 'I'm glad that he's happy' speech, it really meant that he thought that he was gonna die, (I mean, the doctors did tell us that he was dying, but it's different to hear it from the person themselves), but I didn't want to panic yet as then I'd panic him, (which would not be good as he was actually dying and panic kills faster here), (like I'm not trying to be responsible for a dying man's even more premature death here, ya know babes).

"(Chuckles), He makes me very happy"
"Good, I'm glad, that means that I taught him right"

I wasn't quite sure what he meant by that, (I mean I can't read minds, even if I had a great Aunt in New York that could kind of see the future), (no, I will not elaborate on that), but I wasn't going to bloody question a dying man about what the fuck he actually meant by that, plus I could see that he was falling asleep again so I thought it best that I'd let him sleep, (as he did look tired as shit though, to be perfectly honest with you here), (though him looking tired as shit is better than him looking half dead, as that would have actually been worse here).

Anyway, Danny's Dad fell asleep, and so I just stayed there I guess, (I don't have the best memory of this point in time though, so forgive me if there's a couple of holes here), it wasn't like I could do much else as it felt weird, plus I wasn't the one who drove us to the hospital, ya know, (or maybe you don't know, I'm not going to assume what you do and don't know here).
