Chapter 9
Hello fellow readers! I'd like to say thank you all very much for your reviews, and I believe I will do a series of this book if you'd like me to. Again, thanks for the reviews! On with the story!
Reader-chan POV
Great...it had to start raining, I thought as I pulled the hood of my cloak over my head. I looked behind me and bit my lip. I left (h/n) two blocks behind in order to follow Ciel and Sebastian without them noticing me, so I decided to do so on the rooftops of buildings. And it suddenly start pouring!! I huffed and walked towards the edge of the roof. I silently lay down on my stomach and watched the scene below. Ciel was leaning against the building I was on top of, with Sebastian at his side, looking straight ahead. What the hell are you guys planning? I thought.
"He'll show if we stake out this place, right?" asked Ciel while looking at the building to his left, dogs barking in the distance.
"Yes," replied Sebastian.
"I've realized the murdered prostitutes have other things in common than their profession," said Ciel crossing his arms over his chest. And Sebastian replied something I couldn't hear.
"But I don't understand why he had to kill them all," continued Ciel. So he plans on taking down Jack the Ripper? With his "oh-so-perfect-butler"? Without me?
"So very lovable, it could almost be a sin," said Sebastian, mostly to himself. What the...? I looked down more closely and bit back a laugh.
"So soft...oh so soft," said Sebastian as he held a black cat in his arms and pet it. I almost burst out laughing when Sebastian snapped at him to pay attention to what he was saying. Sebastian looks handsome...I thought dreamily, especially with his wet hair sticking to his face perfectly...and those soft red eyes...I blinked and mentally slapped myself. Why am I thinking of him that way?! I can't like him!...Even if he makes me blush when he smiles at me...or he touches me...
"AHHHHHHHHHHH" a high pitched scream shook me out of my stupor and I tensed, ready to spring to action, my hands curling around the hilt of my swords.
"How could someone get past us?!" stammered Ciel.
"Let's go sir," responded Sebastian, running with Ciel towards the door of the building to my left. Ciel slammed the door open and my eyes widened as I saw blood on the floor.Sebastian then grabbed Ciel and pulled him back, covering his eyes.
"Come away, young master."
Ciel was slightly shaking and I was about to jump off the building when I froze.
"You've made quite a mess, Jack the Ripper...or rather Grell Sutcliffe," smirked Sebastian as Grell walked out of the building, covered in blood. Grell couldn't have done it...right? I mean he's a freaking clutz and a good for nothing moron!! How could someone like him murder all these prostitutes!!
"You're wrong! I-I heard screaming a-a-and I rushed to help! But-" he stuttered.
"You can drop the act Grell. It's over. This is actually the first time I've met someone like you," said Sebastian. Someone like him? What- "In the human world, playing the role of helpless butler well. Your act had almost everyone completely fooled," continued Sebastian. Human world...What is Sebastian talking about?
"You...You think so?" asked Grell and grinned, showing razor sharp teeth. "How kind."
"That's great to hear," he continued pulling out the ribbon that kept his hair in its place. "I am actress." He took off his glasses and took out a comb.
"And quite a good one at that," said Grell, combing his hair. And it turned red as he did so. I gulped. What is happening...
"Of course...you're not really Sebastian...are you?"
"Sebastian is the name my master gave me...so that is who I am...for now," said Sebastian.
"Ah you're playing the faithful dog. Well you're handsome enough to get away with it. Anyway here we are, Sebastian...No, I'll call you Bassy," smirked Grell, flipping his really long hair over his shoulder. I gasped and cover my mouth lowering myself on the roof to avoid getting seen. So Sebastian isn't really...Sebastian?
"Let me introduce myself...I am Grell Sutcliff, let's get along," I heard Grell say.
"Ahhh, it's so nice to talk to you in my true form," he continued. "I admit, I was surprised when I first met you, being a demon playing a butler." I froze. Sebastian...is a...demon? No that can't be. He looks human, and from what I've read...but his eyes...his eyes are red...a red I've never seen before on someone's eyes...And the way they glow sometimes...
"I never thought I'd find one of your kind here either. A grim reaper. Why would a divine being like you play a servant?" asked Sebastian. Okay, I don't know how much I can take with these...beings. Then again, I'm not completely human myself...I slightly rose back up to see what was happening.
"Why indeed," he grinned and looked up. I clenched my teeth when his gaze met mine.
"We seem to have an audience...don't we Miss (y/n)?" winked Grell. My fists clenched as Sebastian turned his head to look at me. His expressionless gaze turned soft and I felt butterflies in my stomach.
I cleared my throat and jumped off the building, my cloak flying behind me. I landed on the concrete floor, my feet slightly tingling with pain, since I'm used to jumping off buildings all the time back home...or getting whacked by a titan. I ignored Sebastian's gaze and looked into Grell's eyes, his pupils were dark green and his irises were a light green.
"You know...your precious commander Erwin is desperately looking for you..." grinned Grell. I growled and glared at him.
"What do you know about him?" I snapped.
"Well he did take you in after that...accident," he winked. I clenched my teeth and made a move to pounce on him but Sebastian held me back by my arms.
"You see...I did some reasearch on you...and found something quite interesting" he smiled. I growled and lurched towards him but Sebastian wrapped his arms around me keeping me in place, and I ignored the fast beating of my heart.
"(y/n) calm down, you could get hurt. He's stronger than you, and I don't want you getting major injurues. So please-"
"SHUT UP!! You don't know me!! You don't know who I am!! You don't know what I am," I shouted struggling against his grip.
"(y/n) please," he whispered against my ear. I stiffened and whirled around in his arms. I brought my fist back and punched his face. He released me and I stood next to Ciel.
"Answer the question Grell. Why did you do it?" asked Ciel, slightly irritated.
"I did it for love, for a certain woman," he...she?...responded.
"That woman would be?" asked Sebastian.
"You don't have to ask...do you?" asked a familiar voice from the inside of the building. I looked up and saw Madam Red walking out.
"Madam..." said Ciel.
"I didn't think anyone would be able to tell who Grell was," she said.
"You were on the suspect list from the beginning," responded Ciel.
"You actually suspected your own aunt?" she asked.
"None of the humans on the list could have been responsible, but if one of them had an inhuman accomplice, that would change the game completely. It had to be someone who could enter and leave the room unnoticed...in the end you two were the ones who could be Jack the Ripper," smirked Ciel.
"How unfortunate this turned out to be," said Madam Red. "But now you've taken everything!"
The sound of a chainsaw brought my attention and I brushed my finger on the ring. If the situation gets out of control...then I will have to transform. I saw Grell advancing towards Ciel with the chainsaw in his hands. I pulled out my swords and stood in front of Ciel, stopping the chainsaw with the swords. I grunted and kicked his torso, causing him to stagger back.
"What is that?" asked Ciel.
"It's his tool to harvest souls," responded Sebastian next to me. I looked up at him and saw his face free of bruises.
"It's his reaper scythe," he said, looking into my eyes. I nodded once and looked back at Grell who was irritated.
"It's so much more than a scythe!! I worked very hard to customize it!! It can hack anyone into tiny pieces!! I am out of shape!...So. Shall we play?" he winked at Sebastian, who's eyebrow twitched and had an irritated expression on his face.
"Would you be more respectful of my position. I am on duty," he said.
"You know...red is my favorite color, it's perfect on anything like hair, clothes, lipstick," said Grell.
"So I painted those women in pretty red," he continued, pointing his chain saw at me. I furrowed my eyebrows when Sebastian placed an arm in front of me, as if to protect me. I scoffed, I can take care of myself.
"I'll tear you up on the inside, and you'll like it," said Grell.
"Good luck with that...I'm sure it'll be pretty hard...I'm sure you know why," I smirked, taking off my cloak and placing it around Ciel who was soaked because of the rain.
"Yes, yes I know. But besides that, I'm sure you're not so...quick!" he said and advanced towards me. Before Sebastian made a move, I shot up, using my gear and landed on the rooftop I was on previously.
Grell grinned at me from below and jumped up. He landed in front of me and swiped at me with his chainsaw. I jumped back and slashed at his torso with my swords, which he blocked.
"You know, I'll be kind and tell Bassy and the brat who you are after I kill you," he grinned in my face. I growled and dodged his next attack.
"You're pretty fast for someone who's almost human," he remarked.
"I have to be!" I shouted as I striked at his neck. Grell then blocked it again with his damn chainsaw and before I knew it, I received a blow on my stomach. I staggered back and ducked as he swiped at me again. I looked up and saw the chimney. My mind formed a plan. I shot my hooks towards the brick chimney. Once I was in range, I circled around it and I found myself speeding towards Grell. I brought my feet in front of me and kicked his chainsaw away. It tumbled down the rooftop but stopped on the edge. I looked at Grell who was running towards it but I shot out one of my hooks, which shot through his ankle and pulled him back.
"Sebastian!" I shouted and kicked the chainsaw towards him. He met my eyes and nodded. He dashed towards the weapon, and jumped up. He caught it and landed on the roof, next to me.
"Well aren't you a skilled fighter?" he smiled down at me. I ignored the urge to blush and kicked Grell in the face, causing him to fall down on the floor.
"Sebastian, I order you to take care of them!" shouted Ciel from below, taking off his eyepatch and revealing a purple pentagram on his eye, glowing.
"Yes, my lord," he smirked and advanced towards Grell. I then saw Madam Red advancing towards Ciel with a knife. I raised one of my swords and swiped down, releasing the blade. it flew through the air and it knocked the knife out of Madam Red's hands. She gasped and looked at me.
I jumped down the roof and ran towards her. Once I was close I made a roundhouse kick to her face but froze in midair when Ciel shouted at me to stop. I growled and looked down at him. Ciel was looking at her with sorrow. Madam Red looked at Ciel and smiled gently.
"I can't kill him..." she whispered.
"(Y/N)!! WATCH OUT!!" shouted Sebastian from behind me. I turned around and gasped. Grell was coming at me with full speed, chainsaw in hand, I used the blade in my hands to block the blow. I winced when blood streamed out of my palms and he pushed harder.
"You brat!" he shouted and cut through the blade.I dodged it as it came down but it struck my shoulder. I clenched my teeth when it cut my shoulder. As I looked up I saw Grell grinning at me. He then kicked me to the side and I winced. I've taken worse hits before...this shouldn't stop me. I grabbed the blade on the floor, now in two, and advanced towards Grell. I stopped when his chainsaw cut through Madam Red's torso.
"What a disappointment," said Grell in disgust, pulling out his weapon. Madam Red fell to the ground, her eyes blank and expressionless.
"Is that...?" started Sebastian.
"Yes, it's her cinematic record. It's the document of her life memories," stated Grell looking up at...nothing. Sebastian too, they were looking up but I saw nothing. I glanced at Ciel who just shrugged. A few moments later, they came back to reality. Grell walked towards Madam's body and removed her coat.
"What a beautiful woman you were. Died in your victim's blood, I loved you so," he said, putting on her coat. He then walked away and Ciel closed her eyelids.
"What are you waiting for? I gave you an order. One of them still remains," said Ciel, a few moments later, looking up at Sebastian. Sebastian wiped the off the shocked expression on his face and smirked.
"Certainly."
"I was going to spare you...but if you insist," said Grell, whirling around and swinging his chainsaw.
"I will send you two and the girl to heaven together!"
Sebastian chuckled and dodged the chainsaw, "Heaven? You're joking."
"I know nothing of heaven," he said, attempting to kick Grell in the face. I looked down at my wounded palms and thought. How could all of this happen? It's only been three weeks since I got here and I've met nonhuman creatures. And Sebastian...he's a demon...and yet I feel something for him? No I can't. He must not be able to feel anything, he's a demon. Besides what would happen if I got home suddenly? I have to ignore this, whatever I'm feeling. I looked up and saw Sebastian advancing towards Grell with his chainsaw.
"W-what are you doing?" he shrieked. Sebastian just smirked.
"Following the master's orders," he responded and lifted the chainsaw above his head. My eyes widened. He was going to do it. He was going to kill someone. I looked away before he could do it, but turned back when I heard it hit something instead of hearing screams. A long metallic stick, I believe was holding the chainsaw at bay. I looked up towards its owner and I saw a man with glasses, in a business suit and holding a book in one hand and the stick in the other. His eyes met mine briefly before looking over at Grell.
"I apologize for interrupting, let me introduce myself. I am William T. Spears, an administrator at the Grim Reaper Staffing Association. I've come to collect that reaper there," he said.
"Will! Oh, Will! Did you come to save-" Grell was interrupted as William landed on his head after jumping off the roof.
"I apologize for all the trouble he has caused," he said, bowing his head slightly. "You seem to be far less dangerous, since you are an attained dog." William motioned towards Ciel.
"Now then, let's go Grell," William then grabbed Grell by the hair and jumped up high, going from rooftop to rooftop. I felt the familiar urge...the urge to transform. Transform to kill those reapers for hurting the only relative Ciel had.
"No! No! I won't! Not now!" I cried, clenching my fists. Unlike Eren, I can actually control my ability, as if my titan self needs permission before taking over.
"(y/n)? (y/n) tell me what's wrong," asked Sebastian, placing a hand on my shoulder. i recoiled and pressed my fists against my torso.
"Stay back! I can't have you coming near for now!" I shouted. I shut my eyes and groaned when I saw my titan self flash before my eyes. I crouched over and leaned my head against the floor. I looked down at my palms and saw they were slowly healing.
"Come on...come on! HEAL DAMMIT!" I shouted. My shoulder was healed already, it took about 45 seconds to do so. Okay...do what Erwin told you...deep breaths...In...out...in...out...in...and out...I looked down at my palms and saw that they were healed, only blood crusted them. I sighed and froze when someone placed my cloak around me. I looked up and saw Sebastian looking down at me.
"Please tell me what's wrong (y/n). What happened," he whispered at me. I lightly shook my head and he sighed.
"Your shoulder, it's healed," he continued.
"Yeah, I know."
"(y/n) you better explain what the bloody hell you are, or so help me I will order Sebastian to-" Ciel started.
"To what? To kill me? Go ahead. I've tried. You'll waste your time," I said, glaring at him as I remembered the time I slit my throat open but a few minutes later it healed.
"Master please," said Sebastian. He took one of my palms and helped me stand up. Sebastian placed his other hand on the one he was holding and squeezed, looking down at me with adoration in his eyes. Then it hit me. He's a demon.
"Get away," I said, pushing him away.
"(y/n)-"
"Don't" I interrupted him and turned towards Ciel.
"So Ciel, your butler's a demon...how interesting," I said.
"I suppose I should explain," he sighed.
"You don't have to."
"Oh?" he raised an eyebrow.
"Look you have your secrets and...I have mine," I said.
"I formed a contract with him, after my parents died," Ciel started.
"Ciel stop-"
"Listen!! The mark in my eye shows the bond between us...just like he has a mark in his hand...show her Sebastian," he instructed. Sebastian looked at me and nodded. He then brought his wrist up to his mouth. He gripped the edge of his glove and pulled it off. I almost blushed when he did so. He held up the back of his hand, which had the same purple pentagram and his fingernails were black. I looked up at his eyes and saw they were glowing again.
"Once I help the master achieve his goal...I will consume his soul. It's how us demons survive. The contract also states that the demon must do whatever his master's orders, and he must be loyal as well," said Sebastian. He then walked towards me and took one of my hands into his ungloved one. He brought up his mouth and placed a kiss on my knuckles while looking deep into my eyes.
"Are you not frightened?"
"No...I've dealt with worse remember?" I asked, a small smile on my lips. He smiled back and I felt my heart threatening to explode out of my chest.
"I understand if you do not want to tell us what you are...take your time..." said Sebastian. I looked at Ciel who nodded in agreement.
"Thank you, Sebastian," I said.
"We should get going, and inform Scotland Yard about this at once," said Ciel.
"Yes, sir," Sebastian and I replied at the same time. We met each other's glance and smiled.
