Chapter 1

Aerith's P.O.V.

I stared at Shiziko as he circled me with a kunai in his hand. My weapons were all back in my dorm so I couldn't rely on them. My eyes narrowed at my teammate and he flinched like I expected. My rinnegan was scary, sometimes even to myself. I had been training for over five years on them and had only learned a fraction of what they could do.

Shiziko was 26 years old and on my team for practicing. We were forced along with a hundred others to live in a sand dome in the desert. I have not seen the outdoor sunlight since I was a baby, when my parents dropped me off here because they were scared of my kekki genkai like the rest of my clan. That was 13 years ago, meaning I am 13.

My kekki genkai was slightly different than a normal rinnegan, or that I've researched in the library. My eyes flash white when I do a jutsu, and I can just summon a path. My paths were not dead people, I constructed them to look like normal people. I had to teach them human things, like to blink and talk. Only two of my paths actually learned how to talk though. My animal path and my deva path. Another cool thing was that I gave them there own chakra to share so I don't waste chakra while I use them.

Anyways, Shiziko was orphaned and just ended up here so they took him in, around the same time as I came. We've grown close.

"Why are you doing this?" I asked sadly, feeling betrayed. There was a crowd of other people surrounding us, expecting to watch a juicy fight. Shiziko didn't answer me, just threw the kunai in his hand. I dodged and did a backflip. I looked at him hurt emotionally, but he just avoided eye contact. He did several handsigns and I looked at them before quickly doing my own. He finished first, and a huge gust of wind came at me, taking me off of my feet and flying at a wall. I continued to do my own handsigns as I flipped to where my feet would hit the wall and rebounded off. I cut my thumbs and hit the ground. I felt my eyes glow and flicker white.

"Animal Path!" I yelled and a puff or smoke appeared. When the smoke cleared, a girl with long black hair in an all black ninja cloak was there. She had three chakra recivers on her face that I made look like lip and nose piercings. I got to name all of my paths, and her name was Ami. She was the master of summoning jutsus and could summon just about anything.

She turned around and gave me a sincere smile, something I taught all of my paths to do. I saw that Shiziko froze from his spot and looked terrified. I walked next to Ami and crossed my arms with a smirk.

"You want to fight? I will, but I won't go easy on you." I snarled and looked at Ami, who was watching Shiziko closely and on high alert for any sudden movement. "Don't attack until I say, okay? Just watch my back." and she nodded.

"Okay." she said in a quiet husky voice. She was the most respectful out of all of my paths. She was also the only girl. I turned back to Shiziko just in time to see my other teammate run out of the room. My eyes narrowed once again. I suspected that Shiziko told him to get the Master or a guard. I charged to Shiziko, letting Ami stand there to watch over me. The paths were my only family, and they were not even real people. Shiziko ran at me too and we collided into a fist fight. I was quite good with taijustu, as good as Shiziko.

I got two punches in his stomach with my hand covered in chakra to support my hand and make the punch more strong. He flew back and hit the ground with a thud. I dusted myself off and was about to walk away but Shiziko slowly made himself on his feet again. He started doing a series of handsigns and it was hard to follow what he was about to do.

"Wind Release! Dust cloud!" He shouted and my eyes widened. I jumped up and made a hand signal for Ami to help when the dust started to form. She summoned a large centipeed and it dashed in front of my to take the blow. The end of the centipeed grabbed me and thrusted me backwards. I did a flip in midair so I'd land on my feet next to Ami. The dust and wind force crashed into the animal and it poofed away, but I was safe.

"Thank you Ami." I murmered and she nodded. I smirked and held my head up high at Shiziko. "Finally getting serious, huh?" I sneered and he glared at me.

Then suddenly I heard a shout from the door and our Master and Kayun, my other teammate, was there. I cursed and turned to Ami.

"Gotta go Ami- sorry bub. Say hi to the others for me." and I released my jutsu that kept her here. I faced the door and saw that the crowd shuffled away and was replace by many armed guards. Things were so strict and hardcore here. Shiziko suddenly pointed an accussing finger at me.

"She started it! She used her eye power too!" he lied, and it was obvious that our Master believed him. He was old and pretty short, but he had power over all of us with how many guards he had around the dome. Master glared at me, since I had been the youngest and a girl and with the rinnegan, he was even more strict with me.

"Go to your dorm young man. Aerith, come with me." We both obeyed with no attitude or talkback and I followed Master to his large office. He sat behind his desk and a few guards remained in the room while the rest left. I stood in front of his desk by a few meters, making sure to keep a distance because Master likes his space.

I think for a moment, and decide not to speak first. Master huffed and looked at me in the eye.

"You are banned from here. You have gotten into too many fights in the last few months. I will discuss where you are to go after you pack your belongings." my jaw dropped, I was speechless. I hardened my face, careful not to show any emotion in front of Master. He looked irritated at me for a second.

"Dismissed." he said, and I walked out of the room. When the door closed to his office I sprinted to my dorm, which was on the other side of the dome. I was the only person to have no roommates, so I had a bigger area to move around in- but it was still tiny. I had a box filled with my clothes and that was under a twin size bed. I had a few checked out books in the corner of my dorm that taught me all about the rinnegan. I also had a small black bag under my bed that had a picture of me as a baby with my parents. I don't know why I still had the picture, but I did.

I got out my bag and therw in what little clothing I had. One extra white shirt and one extra pair of caprise. That is what everybody wore, exept Master. He wore a blue outfit. I still had quite a lot of room in my bag so I stuffed my books in there too. I was all packed so I just sat on my bed, waiting for a guard to come and escort me to Master for the second time today.

I got to thinking. I was the person that gets into the most havoc around here, but I'm not the one picking fights. Other than fights, I am a good student and friend. But I wish people didn't judge me to be evil because of my eyes. My sensei wasn't frightened of me, because he knew I was harmless unless agrivated. He taught me everything; from talking to throwing kunai to fire jutsus. But he couldn't help me with my kekki genkai because he knew nothing about it.

A knock on my door broke my train of thought. I sighed and grabbed my bag. A guard pushed me out of my dorm and took me back to Master. It was a lady guard, but that did not change how violent she was. She knocked on his door once and shoved me into the room and followed shortly after. Master had an orange messenger bird on his desk but I ignored it. I warily approched Master but kept some distance. He interlaced his fingers on his desk.

"Well, I got word that your clan has been destroyed by Uchiha Itachi." he said emotionlessly. I didn't know what to think about that, they hated me as a baby and abandoned me here, so I'm not sure if I should feel bad. But where would I go? Master sighed.

"So you're going to Konohagure. Hidden in the leaves." He stated and I felt myself smile. I've researched many places, and Konoha was the best. It was also home to the nine-tails. "There is a jounin from there waiting outside for you. Dismissed, and a piece of advice: don't die." he smirked and shooed me out. The lady guard took my upper arm and shoved me out of the room. Her grip was super tight, it was obvious that it was going to leave a bruise.

She rushed me to the stairs- oh did I mention more than half of the dome was underground?- and stopped abruptly. She threw me at the stairs, and crossed her arms.

"Keep going up the stairs, at the top there will be a door and a ninja waiting to take you to Konoha. Go." She shooed me and I walked up the steps, my free hand rubbing my red handprinted arm. When I climbed the stairs, there was a strong stone door. I dropped my bag and focused chakra to my hands. We were taught by older people who attempted to run away that you need extra chakra to help open the door. I gripped the handle and pushed as hard as I could. Slowly but surely the door opened. Blinding sunlight blasting through the cracks made me stop and put my hand in front of my eyes to shield them. When my eyes stopped tingling, I moved my hands away to open the door more. I still had my eyes closed, and my skin was very hot, but I made it through and opened the door enough to get through. I bent down and grabbed my bag and forced myself to go outside and reseal the door.

I got used to the sunlight a lot faster than I thought I would. I finally could barely open my eyes and get a look at what was ahead of me. Blue sky over a desert. The sun was yellow and surrounded mby white fluffy-looking clouds.

I heard a male clear his throat from behind me. I whipped my head around to find a tall man with a mask covering most of his face. He had white hair that stuck up and to the side. His expression was bored, very bored. He scratched the back of his head and smiled at me slightly, or so I think.

"We should head back if we want to not get there in the middle of the night miss..?" his deep voice said but trailed off.

"Aerith. Satsukia Aerith." I answered for him. "Yours?" I asked.

"Oh, where are my manners? I am Hakate Kakashi." He said loud and clearly, making sure I heard. I nodded and shifted my backpack to my other shoulder. We started walking a random dirrection, in a slow lazy pace. Then I remembered that he was probably already freaked out about my kekki genkai.

"My eyes..." I started and got his attention. He turned his head to me and looked into my eyes, studying them. "Don't get freaked out by them, I only do stuff to bad people, or when I absolutly have to. But I actually made my family with them, they are in my eyes, or so I think because I made them and they get summoned..." I rambled but caught myself. He looked sadly at me and patted my head.

"I am not afraid, I think you are harmless." he stated with a hint of playfulness in his voice. I raised my eyebrow and smirked.

"I'm probably stronger than you by far." i retorted with a smile. He frowned.

"How so?" he wondered and put his hand in his pocket.

"My eyes, my jutsu, my chakra control, and my cleverness." I listed, counting each with my fingers. I then remembered that I was going to summon back Ami. She still needed some learning, but so do the others so it's alright. "May I summon a path?" I asked politely.

"What's a path?" he asked confused.

"It's my family, I have six paths. Deva, Asura, Human, Animal, Preta, and Nakara. Each speciallize in a different subject of fighting. I'm trying to make my paths the best ones, because my rinnegan- my eyes- is slightly different. Normal paths are dead people and their chakra comes from it's user. My paths I created from scratch so they're like robots and I just have to dotante chakra to them every once in a while so they have their own. I still have to teach my paths many human characteristics though." I explained then took a deep breath. Kakashi took it all in and nodded.

"I don't see why you can't, just don't use them for fighting." he reasoned and I nodded.

"Besides, they can protect us, they all fight until their hearts stop beating or until I say stop. They are very smart." I claimed happily. I stopped and so did Kakashi. I did numorous jutsus and bit my thumbs in six different places; might as well call them all out.

"Six paths!" I yelled and hit my hands on the ground. A large cloud of smoke appeared and as it cleared, six figures emerged. They immediatly took a fighting stance as soon as they saw Kakashi. Kakashi got nervous. I held both of my hands up.

"No! He's a good guy. Only attack bad guys." I instructed and they went back into their normal figure. I saw Kakashi motion for us to go and I nodded. "Come on guys." I waved them. I introduced Kakashi to each of them, starting with Ami.

"Ami, Kakashi. Kakashi, Ami." I said and they exchanged smiles. "She is the Animal Path, she's the master of summoning." I informed proudly. he nodded and I moved on.

"Astar, Kakashi. Kakashi, Astar." I said, pointing to my Deva path. Astar was average height and athletic. He had slicked back black hair and also sported an all black cloak. He had all of his chakra receivers in his ears and neck. They also looked like piercings. "He is my Deva path. He is the master of gravity. His main abilities are to repel or attract." He nodded again and waited for me to continue. Astar was the only one to really grip onto human things, and also learned the fastest.

"This is Akio, he is my Human Path." I said and pointed to a boy that was taller than Astar and had very long straight black hair that was parted in the middle and drapped on his shoulders. He had three chakra receivers in each cheek. I might as well say that all of my paths were wearing black cloaks and looked about 17. "He can mind read and get any information out of everyone. I am still researching other talents he has." Kakashi listened and just expected me to continue as we walked. "He also doesn't talk so don't expect a word from him." I added.

"So those two talk?" he asked. I smiled at him.

"Only those two. I taught my Preta Path to say yes and no, but that's about it for him." then I continued the introductions. I pointed to my Asura Path. He had black hair that stuck up crazily and a black headband on to help the hair stick up. He was the same height as Astar, but skinnier. His arms had holes in them as was his legs.

"That's Aoto. He's my Asura Path. His body is like an explosive puppets. He can grow four more arms if needed, and he doesn't get hurt easily." I told him and moved onto my Preta Path. He was the most handsome, he was slightly more muscular out of everyone and the tallest. He had black hair that went to his mid back that was tied into a ponytail. Ever since I taught him how to smile, he kept a welcoming smile on his face at most times.

"He is Amon. He is the Preta Path, and is the defense Path. He can absorb ninjutsu. This technique could also take the form of a barrier around its body, allowing it to absorb attacks from all directions." Kakashi looked at him and then nodded.

"Did you name everybody?" he asked, and I nodded with a grin. I could see a tall gate at the horizon but paid no mind to it, thinking it was Konoha.

"And last but not least, this here is Aguri. All I know so far is that he can summon some weird box thing with arms and it heals people. I haven't spent a lot of time on him." I pointed to a boy that was an inch shorter than Astar and Aoto. He had black wavy hair that went to his shoulders. His piercings weren't seen because they were all under his cloak along his chest in a pattern that looked like a large X.

I smiled and turned to Kakashi.

"And you've just met my whole family." I softly said. He pursed his lips.

"If it helps, I don't have any parents, they died when I was little." he comforted and looked in a distance.

"I'm sorry. If it helps, so did mine." I comforted back. He looked at me for a moment and stopped. All of my paths stopped too, as did I. I held up my finger to Kakashi as he opened his mouth to say something. I turned back to my family of Paths and smiled.

"I think you've had enough time here, time for you guys to go." I said. I held up a handsign. "Release!" I whispered and turned back to Kakashi. "Sorry, thought it might have been serious because of the look on your face so I decided we needed privacy." I blabbed and he smiled (i think).

"Well I was going to saw before you cut me off. Why don't you become my family and I become yours? There's no need for two familyless people to not connect into a new family." he said and my eyes widened.

"Are you serious?!" I asked in a hushed voice. He rolled his eye, one eye because I couldn't see the other.

"Yes, of course I am. Why would I be kidding about a matter like this?"  my eyes teared up and Kakashi started to freak out. "Did I say something wrong?! What's the matter?" he asked concerned. I smiled and looked at him through my teary eyes.

"I'm crying because I'm happy. Of course I'd be your family." and he smiled.

"Awesome." he replied and started walking again. I followed next to him but then suddenly got confused.

"Wait, where does that leave us?" I asked and he thought about it for a moment.

"Well, I'm too old to be your dad. Plus that'd make it plain weird. How about siblings?" he pondered and decided. I nodded, okay with the decision.

Then, we made it to the gates and the sun was setting. It all looked so beautiful. Sure, I've seen pictures because I spend a lot of my days in the library, but I never knew sunsets would be so gorgeous. I didn't notice how much time had past until I heard Kakashi calling my name. I turned around and grinned.

"Coming!" I yelled and ran after him.

Maybe things would turn out right. Maybe the departure was for the best.
