Chapter 4

TW: description of child birth and slight stillbirth ( start and end will be marked with 💃)

It feels like her mind traversed her subconscious into the past, more specifically, the days leading up to the birth of the twins.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Eva comes out of the bathroom and passes the door of the new nursery. She hesitated before pushing open the door of the newly decorated room. The room is full of boxes, the crib set up in the middle of the floor, caught in the glow of the street lights. She pulls the baby blanket from the crib, draping it round her shoulder and twists the mobile hanging above it. She sits on one of the boxes, the simplistic chimes of' Twinkle, twinkle little star' play round endlessly.
The memory is ruined with the sound of screams of pain and agony. The doctor attempts to have the woman calm down but it seems to be futile.
"Eva, you're resisting."  the doctor says. From his prospective, it seems like she's trying to stop the baby from coming out. This confuses the doctor, but he doesn't mention it.
💃
"IT'S KILLING ME!" she screams. The epidural hadn't hit yet and she was feeling every one of her neurons get set om on fire. She felt every rip and tear  as she was attempting to stop the baby from coming out before the drugs kick in.
"Mrs. Katchadourian, you have to push now." the doctor urges. She's purposely putting herself through pain as to, seemingly, not give birth to the child within her.
She pushes and pushes as hard as she possibly could whilst having Franklin's hand in a vice grip so hard, it feels like she's cutting off his circulation. She squeezes harder and harder until she just...let's go. The shrill cries of the ugly, red, blood covered fetus now in the doctor's hands.
"It's a boy." the doctor whispers. Eva makes a breathy happy sound before sighing for a short second. The doctor almost puts the baby before Eva feels like something is wrong, like there's something else in her. She scrunches her face in pain before a small squeak comes out of her mouth. The doctor, concerned for Eva, hands the baby to the nurse before starting to figure out what's wrong with his patient.
"There's another baby coming." the doctor says. Eva and Franklin share a confused look before Eva winces in pain again.
"How is this possible? The ultrasounds showed only one." Eva breathily asked, her mind reeling over the fact that she's giving birth to twins instead of the one baby she and Franklin planned for.
"The second must've been hiding behind the first, it's very common." the doctor states.
Eva takes a few quick and short breaths before pushing out the second fetus. Her grip on Franklin's hand retightens as she feels the tiny human start to make its way out of her. She pushes and pushes until she feels like nothing is there. The room is silent as they realize the baby wasn't breathing.
"What's happening?" Eva sleepily asks. She didn't hear anything but she just thinks it's the fatigue kicking in.
The doctor starts to use a small pipette to attempts to get the fluids out of the baby's lungs. Once the airways were clear, he applies CPR in hopes to get the heart started. He does this for five solid minutes as the anxiety rises in Franklin seeing as Eva was asleep. The doctor stopped his efforts when the baby took a short inhale  and started coughing.
Franklin sighs and watches as the doctor and nurse took his twins to get cleans and dressed.  He slumps in his seat tiredly and runs a hand down his face, his heart rate slowing as he finally relaxes after the fourteen hours of labor he helped his wife with. He shakes Eva awake as two nurses walk in with their sons, each one holding a baby. Eva holds her arms out for one as Franklin takes the other.
"Have you though of any names for your new sons?" one of the nurses asks. The two new parents look at each other before, seemingly, coming to a consensus.
"For the oldest we were thinking of Kevin. For the youngest, we didn't think of one seeing as he was unexpected." Eva says
"We could name him Y/N. It was almost Kevin's name before we decided on it." Franklin answers.
Eva nods and the nurses proceed to fill out the birth certificates of the twins.
The wailing of police sirens shakes Eva out of her mind as she asses the situation in front of her. Even with all the chaos happening in front of her, she blocks it out, hoping for her sons to come out safely. She silently hopes for the safety of one over the other, but she would never admit that out loud. As a shiver runs down her spine, she silently traverses her way through the chaos of the crowd, hoping the heating the car would warm her up.
As she sits in the drivers side of the car, she thinks back to when the twins were growing up. She traps herself in her head to ignore the insanity currently happening outside of her slightly tinted windows. She leans back and relaxes in her seat and decides to take a trip down memory lane
I know I have been missing for a short (long) minute, but as I previously stated I had to move out a very toxic household that was killing my creativity from the inside out. I thank @Gostpit for the DM they sent me that gave me the push to write this. While this did take two hours to write (it's now 1:44 am where I am rn) I'm glad I could deliver to those who really like what I have written. Remember to to love yourself, take care of yourself, and have a lovely day/night wherever you are on this planet of ours. See you in the next one. Buh-bye.
