Traveling Issues (Oneshot; 17)

"JEREMY! MICHAEL'S HERE!" Mr. Heere exclaimed up the stairs.

"NOT YET!!!" Jeremy responded.

"YOU'RE RIGHT, NOT YET, BUT I WILL BE!" Michael yelled back.

Jeremy screamed. "THAT'S NOT WHAT I MEANT!" He was currently running around, stuffing everything he could into his suitcase.

Michael made his way up the stairs, grinning. When he turned into Jeremy's room, he nearly burst out laughing. Clothes were strewn everywhere, and Jeremy was locked in a battle against a zipper that he was losing quickly.

"Dude, how long have you been packing?" Michael asked curiously, holding back his laughter for now as he saw Jeremy's frustration. His brows were furrowed, and he was sticking his tongue out ever so slightly. Michael didn't want to break his concentration.

"A couple hours...?" Jeremy mumbled, tugging harder on the zipper in growing annoyance.

"Jere. Stop. You'll break the zipper at this rate." Michael chuckled as he walked over to the bulging suitcase.

"And you have a better idea?" Jeremy asked, pouting.

"Yep," Michael replied, plopping on top of the suitcase. "Try now, oh you of little belief."

Jeremy begrudgingly did so and managed to close the suitcase successfully. Michael gave Jeremy a triumphant smirk before dodging a small smack from the other.

"You ready?" Michael questioned, his smirk turning into a soft grin.

Jeremy sighed. "I'm guessing everyone else is at the airport already?"

Michael shrugged apologetically. "Can't lie t'ya," he answered. "Here, I'll get your bag."

"I can-"

"Too late."

"Such a gentleman," Jeremy replied, rolling his eyes.

Michael lugged Jeremy's bag down the stairs, Jeremy following closely behind.

"Are you two boys going to be alright?" Mr. Heere asked, laughing slightly.

"Yep!" Michael responded cheerily. "We're all set. Ready, Jere?"

"Thanks to you," he huffed, contrasted by his grin.

"See you next week, son!" Mr. Heere saluted.

"You're not going to wear pants this next week, are you?" Jeremy guessed.

"No promises," he winked in response. Jeremy snorted, stepping after Michael out the door.

"Bye, dad." They both exchanged soft smiles before Jeremy closed the door behind him.

The two made their way out to Michael's PT Cruiser as Michael popped the trunk with his keys. He shoved Jeremy's bag in beside his own before slamming it closed again.

He turned to Jeremy with a wide smile. "LET'S GO!" he exclaimed goofily, running to the passenger door to open it for Jeremy.

Jeremy giggled, shaking his head. "Really going for that gentleman award," he noted as he climbed into the seat.

Michael shrugged. "What can I say? Guilty." He closed Jeremy's door and walked to the driver's side, spinning his keys on his finger.

"Do you ever get tired of this car?" Jeremy pondered as Michael plopped into the driver's seat.

"Better hope I don't," Michael replied, laughing. "I got this custom designed. Even added this little neat thing." He pulled up the armrest between the two front seats to reveal a refrigerated compartment. A six pack of Mountain Dew Red sat at the bottom of it.

Jeremy smiled fondly. "I haven't had an attack in months, Michael," he laughed.

"Doesn't hurt to be careful," he responded, winking. "NOW WE MUST RIDE!" he exclaimed, turning the key in the ignition to start the car.

"Dork."

"Insert overused insult heere," Michael retorted, grinning as he looked in the corner of his eyes to see Jeremy pouting.

"Insert overused pun heere," he answered, sticking his tongue out.

"Alright, alright. Let's go have some fun, dude!" Michael slightly bounced in his seat, excited.

"Will do, Mr. Fun Police," Jeremy poked. Michael elbowed him lightly, getting the other boy to giggle. "Hey Michael?"

"Yeah, Jere?"

"Thanks for helping me out... even if I was grumpy."

"I'm used to it," he winked jokingly. "Anything for my Jere-Bear."

Jeremy brought his knees up to his chest in embarrassment. "Ugh, I love you."

Michael faltered, swerving slightly. "Jeremy Heere, you can't DO THAT TO ME!" he yelled, unable to cover his flushed face. "But I love you too," he huffed, shaking his head as Jeremy smiled, content.
