Maybe I Should (One-shot; 16)
Jeremy sat quietly at the group's table before school. It was barely October and he didn't know why the group didn't sit inside, but who was he to complain? At least he had somewhere to sit.
And besides, Michael sat at this table, he thought giddily, wondering when he'd finally arrive. Slowly people began sitting around the table. He didn't know all of them but a few of his friends were around him, including his best friend Christine. She sat to his right, talking about something that was probably interesting. But, the moment he saw Michael drop his backpack on the bench and talk to the group while standing next to the table, he couldn't quite focus.
He sighed as he remembered their conversations from the week prior. They sat next to each other in their math class and had conversations then of course, but all the important ones were over text. He remembered Michael telling him he was having trouble with his feelings. He remembered Michael refuses to tell him just who was causing that. He remembered Michael telling him that it was, in fact, Jeremy not twenty minutes later. Looking back, he probably should've seen what an immature move that was. But at that moment he was too nervous to notice anything.
(He had promptly texted Chloe to ask for help, because, honestly, what are you even supposed to do when your crush tells you they're crushing on you?)
(Chloe told him to tell Michael he liked him too.)
(Jeremy made many, many stupid jokes before admitting he indeed liked Michael as well.)
He especially remembered the conversation they had just two days before. Michael had asked him what he would say if he asked him out. Jeremy, of course, told him he would say yes if he asked in person.
He really should've paid better attention to that flag.
"Hey Jeremy," Rich's voice snapped him from his dreamy thoughts, "you should ask Michael out," Rich spoke loud enough for the whole table to hear, Jeremy realized as they began to chuckle lightly.
But Jeremy couldn't help but think he should. I mean, he had spent the entirety of the previous day feeling anxious around Michael, waiting for him to ask.
But who ever said he had to wait on Michael?
"Hey, Michael, you wanna go out with me?" He blurted out before he couldn't think twice.
He instantly regretted it as the group went silent.
And then Rich was cheering.
And the table was laughing.
And Michael was silent.
And the people standing by Michael were teasing him jokingly.
And Christine was surprised.
And Jeremy laughed nervously and shut his eyes, wanting nothing more than the morning bell to ring.
It felt like an eternity before it finally did. He breathed a sigh of relief as he stood and picked up his backpack. Christine stood up next to him, looking slightly worried. Jeremy tried to focus on her, but the sight of Michael walking up to them stole his thoughts. "Are you okay?"
"Oh um, yeah of course!" Jeremy forced out before looking back to Michael.
"Ready?" He asked. Jeremy internally cursed himself for forgetting he shared his first hour with Michael.
"Oh y-yeah!" He stuttered before hugging Christine goodbye. They began to walk towards their first class, not speaking until Christine was out of earshot. "Yes."
"Um, what?"
Michael laughed, "Yes, I'll go out with you."
"Okay cool," Jeremy said stupidly with an equally stupid grin on his face.
"Cool," Michael replied, "Hey let's wait to tell Rich and Jake. I'd love to see the looks on their faces when they finally find out."
Jeremy giggled, "Okay, I won't."
*bonus*
"So I heard you guys are dating now?" Jake grinned smugly behind them.
"Wait, how do you know? Did you tell him?" Michael asked, looking to Jeremy.
He shook his head, smiling. "No, I told Chloe, who told Rich, who told Jake."
Michael laughed, " Of course."
(Actually, Jeremy told Chloe, then told Rich and Jake when they wouldn't stop asking. He wanted to tell them anyway. While he was at it, he told Brooke as well. Okay, he told everyone he was friends with.)

legit, the title for this google doc was "tag yourself im jeremy"
okay so, i was writing this nice one shot when sUDDENLY im reminded of the moment i asked my last boyfriend out and BAM this happened. so um,, yeah the first time i've used jeremy to lowkey represent myself in my writing? nice? idk i usually use michael lmao
also i don't recommend asking for more of this? like obviously, if enough of you want it i can't say no to you guys
but like, spoiler alert, if i write more it'll just be michael fcking up and then christine helps jeremy realize he's unhappy in the relationship and then jere breaks up with micah
AND THEN THEN THEY END UP TALKING ON A SCHOOL TRIP AND MICAH IS LIKE "OH HEY YOURE COLD TAKE MY JACKET AND HERE LET ME CARRY YOUR SUITCASE IT LOOKS HEAVY" LIKE EVERYTHING IS HECKING IS FINE AND THEN JERE AND MICAH TALK AND MICAH IS LIKE "YEAH WE COULD GET BACK TOGETHER IF YOU WANT (SPOILER ALERT: JERE WANTS) BUT AFTER I GET OVER THIS PERSON WHO JUST REJECTED ME." BUT THEN KEEPS DOING COUPLY STUFF AND LEADING JERE ON AND JERE FALLS FOR IT AND THEN A FEW DAYS AFTER THE TRIP MICAH IS LIKE "OH YEAH ACTUALLY WE CAN'T GET BACK TOGETHER."
AND THEN TEXTS JERE A DAY OR TWO AFTER TO APOLOGIZE AND SAYS HE REGRETS SAYING THAT BUT JERE FINALLY REALIZES HE NEEDS TO STOP FALLING FOR MICAH'S STUPID ACT AND SAYS NO. BUT THEN MICAH KEEPS TEXTING HIM AND SHT UNTIL JERE FINALLY SAYS "stop texting me." AND ONLY SPEAKS TO MICAH A FEW TIMES AFTER. IN PERSON. WHEN FORCED.
anyway i'm fine. i could rant about that crappy relationship all day tbh
why did i write this
anyway yeah i won't write more probably unless ya'll want it but i don't see why you would
i'm going back to writing that other one shot. the good one. this one isn't good lmao
