Dancin' and Singin'
There were lots of people, and people made Michael nervous. Jeremy seemed to be in the same boat.
The two had signed up spur of the moment, but were now questioning their 12 AM decisions. Michael's mother was one of the deciding factors as she had found and fixed up two old suits that she had gotten from relatives. They were old-school, but the two had to agree that they were classy as hell.
The pair in front of them, a boy and a girl slightly older than them, turned around, wishing Jeremy and Michael luck as they walked onto the stage. The two were grateful, but the nerves hadn't disappeared.
When their names were finally called, Michael grasped Jeremy's hand tightly. Partially to comfort the other boy, but mostly to steady himself as they walked out of the waiting room and into the spotlights.
As they had (nervously) requested, a projector shone onto them, casting them in a black and white lighting. They got into position, squeezing each other's shaking hands as a soft tune began.
I'm singin' in the rain, just singin' in the rain. What a glorious feelin' I'm happy again.
Michael twirled Jeremy as the two danced to the old song.
I'm laughin' at the clouds so dark up above. The sun's in my heart, and I'm ready for love.
Memories poured into the dance as they gained more confidence, seemingly floating across the stage.
Let the stormy clouds chase everyone from the place. Come on with the rain, I've a smile on my face! I walk down the lane with a happy refrain. Just singin', singin' in the rain!
Their feet tapped as they went. Michael had insisted they wear tap-dancing shoes. Jeremy smiled warmly as they continued, hardly remembering the crowd's eyes on them.
They spun once more as the instruments picked up, their movements getting faster until the trumpets died down.
They slowed, holding each other's hands as their chests heaved. Gradually being brought back to reality, they heard cheers around them. Jeremy flushed, and Michael beamed, both their hearts pounding in fluttery happiness.
I'm dancin' and singin' in the rain.
Guys I love them. I wanted them to dance. I don't quite know why I chose this song, but I love it.
